I have a Cisco 819 router which has a built in GPS capability. GPS recieves a very accurate time from the satellite. Is it possible to use this accurate time source to set the time on the router, and then use it as an NTP server?

Promiscuous Mode is usually the result of sniffing according to Wiki. Whatever is promiscuous mode. Also, I don't know what device br0 is. I do have my Brother wireless printer connected to the DIR-655 but it's device name is BRW0022581FB096. I was wireless at the time of connection problem, and the wired computer connected to the DIR-655 had been off.
I just bought a WAP321 Wireless AP. I wonder why it cannot sync with our time server automatically. Every time I reboot it, the system time become "Fri Dec 31 1999 12:00:00 UCT". I have to do the sync manually by clicking on the "Save" button under the menu Administration > Time Setting.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have DHCP enabled, but I have assigned a static IP to most of my network devices.When I click on the DHCP Client Table, most of the devices are NOT shown even though I know they are connected and working.One device (a Brother printer) that I have assigned a static IP to actually shows up as having an IP from the DHCP range. A Panasonic TV does not show up at all even though it is connected and woking. I have not been able to assign a static IP to it because it does not show up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 5520 in production at a customer's site between an outside 802.11 network and an inside server. The server can get to outside hosts OK, and the traffic is being NATed properly, and sockets initiated by the server on the inside can pass data both ways, but I need to allow outside hosts the ability to send 'announcement' UDP packets to the inside server. I thought this might be an outside-NAT-required issue to get the traffic routed, but I need the inside server to see the actual outside host source IP in the UDP packet, so I basically set the outside host up similar to the inside host, just without the NAT table on the firewall -- it's subnet is outside the destination (inside server) subnet, and its gateway is the outside interface of the ASA, the same way the inside server is able to get to hosts outside. The firewall should just route the packet with a destination of the inside subnet once it sees that it hits a 'permit' ACL.
I have the appropriate ACL's set up, and when I do 'show access-list' I see policy hits for the 'permit' statements where the outside host is generating the announcement and it's hitting the ACL. I even duplicated the ACL into list 101 and 102, and applied 101 for inbound traffic on the outside int, and applied 102 for outbound traffic on the inside int, and I'm seeing policy hits on both permit statements outside and inside, so it looks like the traffic is being passed on to the inside interface and permitted, but the server isn't seeing the packets.
I can ping the outside interface from the outside, but cannot ping the inside interface or any inside hosts from the outside, even though I have 'permit icmp any any' enabled on the ACL on both ints. When I remove the firewall and put the outside clients on the same subnet, the server sees the packets just fine.
I set up the same scenario in my lab with an ASA 5505, with the same results. Below is the running config from the 5505 in the lab. The production firewall is running a slightly older version of ASA, so I made the configuration as basic as possible on the 5505 to match the config in the field:

Speedtest.net always says i'm getting around 3 MB.Znet is always higher. Around 3.5MBTestMy.net gives me 5.4MB. On my Netgear router staus page it says my DownStream Connection Speed is 3776 kbps.Also, when i download a game on Steam, it often downloads at 600kbs or above.Which speed is more accurate?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the new E4200 with an attached 750GB hard disk.All works well, however the media server becomes unavailable most of the time and renders the device useless.
I can connect to the Media Server from my xbox and laptop for an hour or so, and then all of a sudden it is gone. The only option I have is to reboot the router to bring it back online however not all of the music and videos are shown on the media server (yet).I uploaded quite a bit of music and video to the hard disk, I can initiate a scan but after a while the media server becomes unavailable / cannot connect to it.
We want to get a network time server appliance that will be used only as a device to provide time to network devices as well as workstations. Our network infrastructure contains CISCO 3750G's, 4506's and 6509E.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am sending TACACS administration logging to a syslog server. When the messages show up on the syslog server, they are 5 hours ahead of the actual time. Time on the ACS is correct - local logging shows the correct time. Time on the syslog server is correct...all other devices/systems sending syslog messages to it are coming through with the correct time. why the ACS syslog messages would be 5 hours ahead?

I'm new to networking (at least at this level) and need some guidance. First, I have an Actiontec MI424WR (Rev. F) Coax Verizon Fios modem that I use as my home networking wireless router. From a LAN port on that I've connected a cable to the WAN port on my DIR-655 which acts as my gigabit office hard wire/wireless router. I need to keep the home network and the office network separate.All of my computers are Windows, either 7, Vista or XP.Connected to my Dir-655 on the office network are 2 wireless computers, a printer, an IOMEGA 1TB Home Personal Cloud NAS HDD, plus 2 desktop computers.The DIR-655 is set with a static IP address matching the range of the Actiontec. The DIR-655 is set for DHCP for the devices on the network (although 2 of the computers have static IP address).
When the DIR-655 had a Dynamic IP address set by the Actiontec, the IOMEGA NAS HDD kept losing connection with all the devices on the network. Only after I set the DIR-655 to static IP did that stop and everybody started to play nice. I'm not sure why that would make a difference, but it did.But regardless of whether it is set to dynamic or static, no computer on the network or program, even third party programs, can connect to ANY of the time servers out there... and I mean any of them. I've tried at least 20 or more of the standard and not so standard ones. The DIR-655's time is off, and it is set to get time automatically. None of my computers, or my IOMEGA NAS, can access time. The Actiontec, though, seems to be set correctly.Everything connects to the internet just fine. Web, email, auto product upgrades. Fine. So far it's just the time server thing which troubles.I done everything I know how to do to enable Port Forwarding through both routers for NTP > UDP 123 since that is the standard port for the Network Time Protocol, but I could have easily screwed that up.
I have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong.To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again.This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?

I also have Qos Engine on for allowing me to have 2 xboxes on Open NAT.problem is my wireless signal for some wired reason is VERY weak. A while ago it used to work really far way outside. It was around 150ft distance at 4 bars. Now for some reason I can't even go upstairs without getting a 1 or 2 bar signal.

View 15 Replies View Relatedlink to the original v1.0.0 firmware for the E4200. That was the best firmware for me and sadly I can't find a link to go back. v1.0.0 really had no problems for me. I initially skipped v1.0.1 becuase it disabled IPv6 which is a feature I want. v1.0.2 broke my YouTube and Netflix streaming. So I went back to v1.0.1 and my Netflix and YouTubue steaming returned to normal but I lost IPv6.
Any solution to Netflix and YouTube streaming problem on v1.0.2 when IPv6 is configured. (I'm positive the video is streaming over IPv4, but the IPv6 connectivity is available.)
Ciso 1941 router frozen once a day, sometimes after 2 to 7 days. When the router frozen, no internet connection and cannot login/ping ethernet ports. I can login to console port and copy the error messages below. Reload the router and it will return back to normal operation. Re-installed IOS but still the same.

I recently purchased a X2000 ADSL modem/router combination. For some reason the current time will not stay set to the time zone. Rebooting clears the discrepancy for a short time before it drops an hour exactly. I'm in the central time zone and the setting are correct on the basic setup.?

However when I use a route map to do this, I cannot see NAT being performed and my VPN does not come up. When I use a static NAT for a 1 to 1 host translation I can see nat being performed and the VPN comes up. Using the route map method, the other party said our source IP is 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.

There is a box behind an ASA that has a lot of code that references public DNS names and therefore needs access to itself and a number of other boxes on the same subnet via the public DNS names (that obviously resolve to public IPs). This traffic is dropped on some pretty fundamental ASA characteristics.I know this isn't really ideal, and it should be handled by DNS nstead, but I'm in somewhat of a bind and need to know if the ASA can allow this traffic.I figure I could match the traffic and exempt it from state-checking and that would probably work, but it's not a very graceful solution.

I have configured my Cisco 881 and it is quite stable but now I am working on some minor details.
I have several Public WAN IP addresses which are NATing to internal web server. When I go to the WAN IP at port 80 from the Internet, the NAT works fine and it maps perfectly to the internal Web server. However, when I try the same same WAN IP from the LAN which contains the web server, the Router blocks the traffic and I get nothing back.
I have verified that I can get to the Inernet from the LAN but it seems that I cannot go bfrom the LAN to the Internet and back into the LAN via NAT.
we use the latest LMS version (4.2.2). Under Monitor->Performance Settings->IPSLA->Devices i see all devices. When creating a IPSLA collector not all devices are listed in the source section but in the target section. Why is this happening?

What I would like to achive is the following :-For any traffic going to the following three ranges make it apear as if it was coming from the VLAN50 address [code]I can ping my netscreen on 10.27.30.255 fine from the Cisco 1812. But any other PC fails, as for some reasion the traffic has a source of my Dialer 0 interface.How can I write a nat to change the source just for the tree destitnations ?
