We will need to implement a small temporary wirelles solution where I will not have enough time to get a controller. We already have spare AIR-LAP-1042N-T-K9 that may be used (not configured in H-REAP as we use to do). If we configure these access point in local mode do they work without a controller ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm doing some throughput calculation test between a wireless client and a wired desktop computer, and I'm a bit confused about the result i've got. According to the client's card and the WLC, the client is connected to 802.11g, at a speed of 54Mbps. To perform my test, i'm using IPERF (available here [URL) The result is as follow:

i'd like to force the speed/duplex of the integrated Gigabit interface on a LAP1042N, managed by a 4402 running software version 7.0.98 but I cannot find the command either by command line or on the GUI.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have this issue regarding the 1131 Access Points. These access points were fat access points from the factory and were applied with LAP ios so that they can join our controller. We have 2 controllers 5108 for Internal network office use and a seperate 2125 for Guest internet both these are physically seperate networks. These AP's have been working fine since say like 8-9 months and suddenly they started giving problems. The status light keeps changing colour and the AP does not join the controller 2125. Whenever i am connecting this ap to our internal network it joins the controller 5508 and works fine but somehow does not register with our 2125 guest controller. This issue is being faced by one of our client. Could this be an issue due to the ap being loaded with lap ios or does it have anything to do with the different software version fo the controllers as i could not find any things regarding this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet!In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".

Trying to set up my Samsung ML-1430 printer using a Mac OS 10.6.8. Downloaded and installed the TP-Link_UDS_Printer_Controller. The printer controller found the printer and and it is now connected as the "Auto-Connected Printer" but it does not show anywhere to be selected so I can print to it. Tech support suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the software which I did. Still no option to print to it.
I have a new brand dell inspiron 1525 laptop and everytime i boot i get a message "Dell wireless WLAN card wireless network controller stopped working and was closed.
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.Windows will notify you if a solution is available.I use windows vista premium and dell wireless 1390 802.11g.
I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

I am enabling our wireless controllers to use 802.1x authentication for our wireless clients. Both computer and user are provided with certificate from CA server.I have 9 APs and 2 controllers installed in my infrastucture, one of the controllers is working fine with setting specified above but the other one is not.Both has same configuration and both seems identical with same model and IOS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently reformatted an old hdd and i've installed windows xp professional on it and as usual the first thing that came to mind was to go on the internet to download all the drivers i needed. I ran into my first problem, apparently i can't access the internet because i don't have the driver that allows me to use the internet. I've downloaded the same driver that i had on the other hard drive, but it's just not doing anything, i can't create a Local Area Network in my connections. I'm on the same computer as said computer, except different hard drive. Don't have any of the cd's nor do i know which drivers were installed on this hard drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having some problems with my Ethernet connection lately.I unplugged my laptop from the Ethernet connection I had at my old place.At two different locales, I have tried to use an Ethernet connection in order to get better speed (the wireless at the first locale was non-existent and at the second it is extremely slow in my room). I have done so with two separate cables that I have tested on others' computers and found that they are perfectly fine. That, of course, leads me to believe that it is my computer and is either a hardware or software problem (here's hoping it's the latter).Anyway, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 (purchased in 2006). About a year ago, I updated to Windows 7 from the pre-installed Vista. Never had any problems (as I said, everything was fine up until about a week ago). The installed card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Everything under Device Manager indicates that the hardware is working properly and has all of its drivers installed, but nothing is working.I have tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers (albeit by allowing windows to find them automatically), but the result is the exact same.I have checked the port and found that there is no debris or obstructions. We plan to upgrade the 5508 to 7.3.112.0 and the 4400 is already 7.0.116.0. Will there be any issue if the anchor controller is not the same code as the foreign controller? Do I also have to upgrade the acnhor controller to 7.0.240.0?

We have been presented with the usual suspects in cloud-based (Aerohive, Meracki, etc) and with Cisco (5500) and Aruba on the other side. We are a multi-campus organization with approx. 200 APs.Any hard reasons why go with a controller-based vs. cloud-based solution? If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?

I have industrial barcode scanners that connect to one SSID and then there is the business network on the office SSID (no vlan seperation for these devices just different SSIDs). There is not really a need to seperate the business network from the scanners in any case. However, there are needs for a guest network and this needs to be seperated. At the bare minumum I would like to have the wireless guest network. Here is what I have: 2125 Wireless LAN controller managing 18 LAPs (1 indoor and 17 outdoors)Cisco Cat 2950 switches (2 x 24 port and soon to be replaced with 2 x 48 port 2960's with 802.1x capability) Sonicwall TZ210 firewallOne existing wired and trunked vlan for PLC infrastructure. One ESXi hosting Windows server guests (soon to be 2 with vMotion) The reason for the wired guest access network is tp prevent anyone from plugging into the wall jack in the office with thier home laptops or anyone else from being on the same subnet as our domain machines. Granted they would be unathenticaed but there would be no layer 2 seperation and that is what I think would be best.
How would I go about doing this on the wireless controller without an anchor controller just using my existing hardware? I would like to have the Guest SSID only availible in the front office. Is it possible to offer a guest network while still servicing the business network SSID on the same access point? Then might I be able to have the guest network be treated as it should at the controller? However this might present another issue altogether as the guest traffic will be over the same wire as the business SSID until it hits the controller for management.

My wireless clients could only receive a DHCP allocated IP address for the 55.XX subnets defined on the wireless lan controller and SRE (shown on page 12 of the pdf). All traffic seemed to be routed via the native vlan of the inside router trunk interface and all DHCP requests arriving at my DHCP server were from 55.XX. Because of this I didn't see the point of trunking
so I've changed it to a point to point routed connection, created a 55.XX DHCP scope on my DHCP server for the wireless clients and all routing works fine.I found the document rather misleading.

Due to lack of wires we decided to extend our network by using WET546 bridge by linksys. Ideally we looking to create topology like this:
(Computer)--eth--(WET546)---wireless----(AP/WLC2100)---(router)---(Internet)
WET546 successfully authenticates and looks pretty healthy on controller (see below) , however neither of computers plugged to WET546 was unable to obtain ip address from dhcp server , nor working with static ip. I was under impression what it might be related to some default policies on WLC2100. Logs (warning) on WLC2100 looks clean.
We have a 2504 Wireless Controller and it works great!We currently have 6 Access Points (Aironet 1252) connected.We just added the sixth one a few weeks ago and with a properly configured and fully functioning Wireless Controller, it was super easy.Now, I have been assigned to add another Access Point, but at a remote site.The plan is to have up to three or more APs at this remote location and we want them to talk back to the Wireless Controller.We have plenty of licences on our current Wireless Controller.Do do not want to spend the funds for another Wireless Controller and more licenses.

2. If the AP is on a different subnet than the Wireless Controller, how does one get it registered?
3. The best for last: Can a Aironet 1252 talk to a 2504 Wireless Controller over a WAN link?
I just turned on 2 Wirelless LAN Controllers 5508 and I am getting this message on both of them:

And it is taking me to the BootMenu. I selected option 4 to Clear Configuration and the controller seems to restart the system but I still get the same error. I checked the LEDs status and Sys is Amber and Alarm is OFF which according to the documentation is a System Crash.
Interface management on WCL 5508 is assigned ip 192.168.255.200 and from a PC ( on different subnet), i can ping but cannot access https to WCL but From a PC ( in the same subnet) i can ping and https.

We have around 20 access points in our network.If we assign controller1 as primary for half of the access points and controller 2 as primary for the other half, does this mean the association of the ap's indicate load balancing by the controllers. Does this mean wlc does load balancing as different ap's associate on different controllers. or does it only server as active-standby wlc.

When I play online games I get a 'Connection Interutped' everything other 30 seconds or so.Now when I installed the Verizon stuff, the over the phone person told me to uninstall the SM Bus Controller. Now everytime I start up my computer I get a 'Found New Hardware' wizard telling me I should install the SM Bus Controller.
