I selected: Static IP
Static IP:192.168.0.100
Subnet: 255.255.255.252
Gateway:192.168.0.1
DNS: 60.49.166.105
I am a Malaysian, using Streamyx here, I search some articles shows that the ISP given is 60.49.166.105 or 60.49.166.106. Am I right in the setup? Why I am still unable to online though successful to connect after the setup configuration?
Recently i have visit some site for survey of wireless (WiFi). My client ask to provide the Access Point inside the Cold storage of factory( For RF scanners) The temperature of the place is -25 C to -30 C. I have go throug the wireless option of cisco like 1200 series, 1100 series, 3500 series, but all of these operate maximum of -20C. while only out door access point ( cisco 1500 Series ) support such low temparture.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have my broadband line feeding into a WAG 320N in an outside room. There are computers in the outside room which are wired to the modem via CAT leads & plugs. Wireless is turned on, but is not currently being used in this room, as the wired connections work fine. From this outside room there is an underground cable (12 metres) to the house, which through a CAT lead is plugged into another WAG 320N, which operates primarily wirelessly, so laptop computers can be used in the house wirelessly. When the outside room modem is turned on AND the house modem is turned on, only one modem OR the other can access the internet, NOT BOTH. Why can't both modems operate wired and wirelessly. What is the problem? Is there a conflict between the two wireless signals? Can/ should I turn off the wireless signal from the outside modem (if so HOW?) . OR is there a way I can have both modems transmitting a wireless signal.

I am reluctant to upgrade; however, my iMAC is picking up the 5GHz broadcast setting, but the rest of my wireless devices only recognize my lower 2.4GHz setting. I have changed channels, my router address is changed because it conflicted with my Verizon DSL. I do not have FIOS. What can I do to fix this problem. I have an ipad, 2 iphones, 2 ipod touches, 2 laptops (PCs), an XBOX, and a PS3 that needs to connect to a higher broadcast. The connections are slow and at times get dropped.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ESW-500, a SPA525G (also tried 504G), Polycom IP330/670 phones, and a Switchvox (Asterisk-based IP-PBX) and CDP causes some issues. Both the SPA5xx and Polycom phones support CDP but it appears to operate differently between the phones. And, surprisingly, worst of all on the SPA's.
In short:
* Switch - CDP enabled (VLAN 100), DHCP disabled (Option 82 enabled) which is basically how it comes out of the box
* Polycom phones - CDP enabled (default)
* Cisco phones - CDP enabled (default)
* DHCP/TFTP server on port 1
* Phones on ports 7,15,19 - default as smartports for Desktop & Phone
* Switchvox on port 17 - port configured as General (not Trunk) with 1U & 100U VLANs. This was required to get Polycom phones to appear in Switchvox config
With that configuration the Polycom phones work perfectly. They appear in the switch web-GUI under CDP, they present in Switchvox and can be configured. But with that configuration although the Cisco phones appear in the CDP screen they do not get DHCP. My DHCP server can see 'DHCP Discover' messages but it just goes around in circles. Disabling CDP on the switch will allow the phone to get an IP but disabling CDP on the phone still has the same problem. When I saw "around in circles" this is what I mean....
Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP 0.0.0.0, Mac 00:25:84:06:12:46 [10/08 13:51:27.031]
DHCP: proposed address 192.168.100.16 [10/08 13:51:29.000]
4064 Request 2 not processed [10/08 13:51:29.062]
Rcvd DHCP Discover Msg for IP 0.0.0.0, Mac 00:25:84:06:12:46 [10/08 13:51:30.093]
DHCP: proposed address 192.168.100.16 [10/08 13:51:31.593]
4064 Request 2 not processed [10/08 13:51:31.656]

With the difference being there's a 'DHCP Inform Msg' which there never is from the Cisco.I have tried many options regarding DHCP Relay, DHCP Server addresses, DHCP VLAN Interfaces, smartport settings etc but with CDP enabled the Cisco phone just will not get DHCP.
I am designing a network internet connection to our 20 apartment block. The WAN is Ultima up to 40mb/s and the take up is expected to be modest in terms of throughput. However I have been told that two apartments want to run their own non commercial web sites which currently operate on adsl with ddns provision from TZO. The netgear vdsl router supplied by the ISP will obviously have port forwarding but how do I cater for more than one LAN destination requiring port 80 traffic??Surely I dont have to have an in-block DNS.

I just converted AP 1142 to LAP using the image "c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar".
The WLC is a 5500 with 2 NIC : one on 192.168.0/24, one on a specific vlan 10.20/16
The main management interface is on 192.168/24 but we defined as management the interface on the 10.20/16 network.
For the access points, we use ports on a native VLAN on 10.20/16 with other available VLANS which are used for the wlan networks
We have 1152 APs which work fine on this config but that needed to be registered on the 192.168/24 network, then we moved them in their VLAN 10/20/16 and they work fine.
We also have 1142 APs which have been upgraded to LAP. These AP do not work with our architecture. They register correctly on the 192.168/24 network, but do not give access to the wlan VLANs. If they are moved in the 10.20/16 network, they don't register to the WLC (message : Timed out while waiting for ECHO repsonse from the AP). The AP do not get an IP.
is there a restriction with VALNs on these AP ? or is something false ?
I have an 1142 AP that I am unable to set back to factory defaults. Here is what I have done so far:
- boot AP while holding down the mode button
- ap: delete flash:private-multiple-fs
- yes
- ap: boot
- when the AP boots fully I try and enter any lwap ap commands and get "ERROR!!! Command is disabled"
- the AP name and password were reset to defaults but I am unable to get the IP address cleared.
I've also tried "clear lwapp private-config" and get an error saying the command is disabled.
I need to convert some 1142 APs to lightweight mode. They will connect to controllers running 7.3.101.0. I noticed there's two options of Lightweight IOS code available c1140-k9w8-tar.152-2.JA.tar and c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JA.tar. Whats the difference between the two versions of code?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen we take a look at the internal antennas on the 1142 AP, we notice the 5ghz pointed all the same way, but for the 2.4ghz we can see each offset by 45/120 degrees. It was my understanding that all antennas are omnidirectionals on the 1142, why are those 2.4ghz antennas not all pointed the same way? onfiguration advantage and that each antenna is indeed omnicadirectional? Example, if I shut just one antenna off, do I lose a sector (120degree)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased another 1142 AP to expand out our current wireless infrastructure, my question is, what exactly needs to be done for this to work so that users can roam freely and auto-connect to the closet AP with the best connection without getting disconnected?
I have set all the settings the exact same on the new AP to match the existing AP. (How to save the configs into a file would be great, I am not sure how to do that)... But anyhow, before I launch it, I would like to be sure I am correct so I do not bring down the existing network. Of course, the only difference between the 2 are the IP addresses. AP1 is 192.168.2.2 and AP2 is 192.168.2.3
All computers are using Linksys Wireless-N cards.
The last three new APs I have received from our supplier (official Cisco 1142 LAPs) have all successfully connected to our 4400 series WLCs but are all reporting as being in an Operational Status of 'Down' ie their A/B/G/N radios are not broadcasting even though the APs are all in an enabled state. Furthermore, there is no steady green light showing on the APs - there is no light showing whatsoever (although they were displaying the familiar red-orange-green lights while they were pulling down the IOS images from the WLCs).
The only strange thing I have noticed is that in the AP config screen, the ‘Mini IOS version’ is shown as being v7.3.x. The other – working APs – we have of the 1142 series show v3.x. I know that controller code v7.2 and above only work with the newer 5500 and 7500 series WLCs. Could this be the issue and have any of you seen this issue previously? I am running WLC code v7.0.230.0.
that cisco ap 1142 will support WLC2506 or not .

About every 20 minutes 12 of 300 APs keep rebooting. I have tried moving them to different controllers. I have tried downgrading the code and then upgrading the code. I have tried replacing the AP. I have tried swamping out cables. They are all connected to a 3750 stack but plugged into different switches in the stack. I am a bit confused of the repeater functionality in the mentione AP, my concerns are:
1- Will each radio be dedicated to one function (for example 2.4 GHz for user access and 5.0 GHz for repeater functionality)?
2- Will the internet speed for users be affected when using the access point in repeater mode (no ethernet)?
3- Can an Autonomous AP function as a repeater?
4- Is there any license required?
5- What is the signal overlap requirements between the two Wired and non Wired AP?
6- Can the non wired AP be work as a repeater for another non wired AP (similar to cascading)?
I have recently been adding a number of installed APs to heatmaps in NCS and am very confused as to the correct Azimuth and Elevation settings.
In particular - if the AP is mounted on a wall rather than a ceiling what should the settings be ( and does it matter - perhaps - as NCS is now dynamic by default rather than the old WCS being predictive perhaps it does ).
Any guide for this covering the following common installation locations.
All referenced when looking at the map view in NCS, front of AP is the side with the Cisco logo and the status LED:-
1. AP ceiling mounted ( Backplate pointing out of map towards your eyes - front of AP pointing down to floor )
2. AP wall mounted ( front of AP pointing upwards towards the top bezel of the screen )
3. AP wall mounted ( front of AP pointing right towards the right bezel of the screen )
4. AP wall mounted ( front of AP pointing down towards bottom bezel of screen )
5. AP wall mounted ( front of AP pointing left towards left bezel of screen )
After some searching I see many people using power injectors or switches that supploy PoE. I am building a lab for the CCNA Wireless and currently have an old Cisco 3550 PoE switch and a 2106 Controller that I got at a steal of a price. My question is, The 1142 can use the 15.4 Inline Power from the 3550 even though it is not the 802.11af standard correct? If it doesn't then I will need to order a power brick.
