Cisco Wireless :: AP 2602 Speed Connection Only 65Mb
May 28, 2013
i'm configuring a standalone AP 2602 with IOS 15.2.When i connect to AP from my notebook i only get 65Mb speed, when i connect to other APs from the notebook my speed connection 150-300Mb.
What configuration(CLI) do i need to be able to connect to the AP on connection speed to 130-450Mb ? Currently I connect to SSID with WPA2 encryption and "speed default" on radio 0 interface.

I have an 2602 AP. Recently I tried to move it from one controller to another, however in doing so the image must have gotten corrupted. So no I'm in AP ROMMON. I can't find any recovery procedures specifically for the 2600's, but I what I did find doesn't seem to work :
ap: set IP_ADDR 10.4.208.3
ap: set NETMASK 255.255.255.0
ap: set DEFAULT_ROUTER 10.4.208.1
[Code].....

We have a campus with both office and industial areas with various propagation problems. Historically I have been installing and maintaining access points in the 1200 range, the latest being the 1242. All these have a similar antenna setup based on diversity pairs.Since Cisco seems to be dropping the old series any week now I have been looking at the 2602 as a replacement.I can find no good documentation on antenna selection and mounting suggestions for these. If I want a proper omni coverage pattern with dual band antennas, do I just set them to a H form assuming the unit is sitting on a wall?

We typically use the 2602 series AP in lightweight mode, however I have a scenario where we are going to be installing one with the stand-alone software. I understand that we will not be able to utilze certain features that you get with the WLC such as RRM, rogue detection, and clean air.
We do want to utilze both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands. In order to do this with the 2602 stand-alone AP, will we have to configure 2 separate SSID's? I really do not want to do this to if I do not have to to minimize confusion for clients.

Instead of stocking every known AP and every external connector, I would like to query which APs to stock for general site surveys....
I have 2 customers that will require surveys in the near future...one plans on using the 2602e AP, and the other a 3602e AP. I have read somewhere that the 1140 makes an excellent proxy for the 2602 and several other Cisco APs (as the RF characteristics are similar) so that I only have to stock that one AP to use for those site surveys- but I haven't seen any recommendations about the 3600 series AP yet...
What AP to stock for doing Cisco site surveys? Maybe one or two models only?

I have a problem, where we are installing a Cisco 2602 access piont, the AP is getting power as the lights are on (changing colors Green, White, Red). In the switch side the LED for the interface is blinking green only when I chosse PoE. Also I cannot see the AP in CDP neighbours.
It seems to be a physical problem but the cable is tested and showing connected for all pairs and parallal (straight) connection.
Access Point was connected directly to the same interface (I mean with a patch cable to the switch) and working

it seams, that the mounting blade for the 1142 access point and the 2602 access point are identical.
We have ordered the new 2602 with internal antennas for deploying WLAN in a new building, but I never hold this accesspoint in my hands. We have a few mounting blades in spare from the 1142 accesspoint. The question is, can I prepare the mounting of the 2602 access point with the 1142 mounting blade?

I have several 2602 AP's that I want to operate in FlexConnect mode. The WLC is at a central HQ and the Ap's are remote. There are central radius servers at the HQ for the wlans. At the remote lcoation, there is a local radius server we want to use for the primary radius server for these AP's. This radius server has been added to the WLC. I have setup a FlexConnect Group, designated the the primary and secondary servers, and then added the AP's to the group. It does not look like radius requests are being sent to the local controller.
For this to work, do we have to check the box under the wlan for FlexConnect Local Auth? Currently, we only have FlexConnect local switching selected.

Environment :AP 2602, WLC 5508 V7.4, ISE 1.1.2, Prime Infras 1.2
For a specific SSID, we use MAC address as 1 of the conditions to authorize access only for the company-owned mobiles (smartphones and tablets), the other condition being, for the mobile, to present a valid AD user/password;this way, the so-called BYODs are rejected since this is the rule within this company ;The difficulty with this approach is the fact that there is no way in ISE Identities Endpoints nor Groups to associate a user-friendly name to the MAC address of the mobiles, which makes very tedious some actions such as a search in the ISE authentication Log based on the MAC address value itself;the question is just to know if it is planned to add a new field in Identities Endpoints definition that would allow to associate a user-friendly name to a MAC address, for future ISE versions,

I have a home wireless network with a PC and a Mac.The PC surfs the net very nicely. The Mac, however, has trouble. It frequently gets stuck loading web pages and is noticeably slower than the PC. This has never been a problem before on a previous home network. The problem persists with all the types of wireless security (and with none at all) but does not occur when the Mac is attached to the router by cable.I've tried changing the DNS settings on the Mac to match those of the ISP.I disabled WPS. None of this has worked at all.The router and Mac both have the latest software versions.

I am having issues with the connection speed between my computer and my router. We have an airport (time capsule) router and I have a realtek rtl8192ce wireless N card, running a fresh install of windows 7, all updates up to date. The problem I'm having is that I am only connecting to the network at either 1 or 7mbps. It (very) occasionally connects at 29mbps but this is only for a split second and still nowhere near the 300mbs rated speed. I don't expect it to be at 300, however nice it would be to have that, but I would just like a decent rate as my download speed is maxing out at around 2mbs and my upload speed is twice as fast. Another desktop in the same room, next to my current on which is also connecting wirelessly is downloading around 15mb. That connection is either at 29mbps or 56mbps.It is currently connected on channel 7, there is only one other network on that channel in range. Earlier it was connected on channel 10 and there were no other networks on that channel and the connection speed is no different.

I noticed my wireless connection was decently fast for my needs which was 13-15 up /5 down. I am in the next room from my study and around <10 ft away from the modem in the study. However today the internet was extremely slow for everyone in the house so I went to reset the modem. After resetting the modem I noticed that the internet speed went a bit up and so I used speedtest.net to see how fast the connection was in the study. The computer in the study is connected with a ethernet cable to the modem. I was amazed that the speed in the study was nearly double the amount. I understand that wireless connections are undoubtedly slower than a wired connection, but is it normal for the speed to drop by half when I am <10 ft away from the modem?

Got an XPS 8300 with a 1501 Wireless-N WLAN half-mini card. I'm using a Linksys WRT160n router which can handle up to Draft 802.11n.
When wired directly to router I'm getting ~21-25Mbps. When I go wireless, it's pitiful - down to ~2-4Mbps. We just got a new laptop in the house (a chromebook actually) and the wireless throughput on that is equal to my wired throughput (21-25Mbps).
I'm using WEP security on the router.
What settings to check/modify to get my connection speed up? Everything I checked seems to be OK and the driver version is up-to-date.

I have been using a WRT610N router for several years. A couple of weeks ago I purchased an iPad 2. I am not sure if its a limitaion of the iPad 2 or a wireless connection speed issue, but when watching You Tube music videos the video stops frequently and I have to hit the play button again to resume. This occurs more often if I am using Blue Tooth connected headphones than direct connected headphones, leading me to the initial conclusion that I am witnessing the limits of the iPad 2 processor. However, I recently downloaded the Speed Test app and have discovered that the wireless download speed varies from about 11-15Mbps, depending on the location (normal vs next to router). If I go to that web site and run the speed test there from my direct connected PC (connected to 1Gbps port), I get a download speed typically of 36Mbps (inflated I know because Comcast speed supposedly is limited to 25 Mbps).

I have had a EA3500 router in front of a 3Mb ADSL connection for about 6 months. This delivered essentially the same WAN performance as the WRT54G (v5) I replaced with it. Either router would get 2.4-2.8Mbps through a variety of speed test sites, inlcuding the CCC builtin speed test.I upgraded to a 10Mbps cable internet connection today, but the EA3500 won't deliver any more speed than with the old ADSL connection. The reason I am blaming the EA3500 is that if I plug my computer directly into the cable modem, I get a solid 9.9Mbps down/0.99Mbps up, which is exactly how my line is provisioned. With the router in place and active, I get the same slow WAN connection, 2.8-2.9MBps, whether using a PC connected with GigE, a PC connected via Wireless-N, or with an iPhone. This all implicates the EA3500's WAN connection.
Is there anything that can be done do let the EA3500 work properly? I upgraded my firmware today in hopes that that would change something. But, I get the same speed with the latest firmware (1.1.39.145204) as I did with the previous version. Speed across my wired LAN is excellent; I can sustain 70MB/sec from my PC to my NAS. It's only the WAN connection that is performing poorly.I can downgrade to the non-CCC firmware if that would make a difference; would it?

I upgraded my Internet speed with my ISP to 60Mbit/s and I get following download results at speedtest.net:Is there a way to speed up my wireless connection with this router? On the sticker it says 54Mbps, so I would guess it should be possible.

I just bought a new Linksys E2500 router from Best Buy and I need optimizing my router settings so I can get the absolute best performance out of it. Staying connected and keeping speeds high are a must.I have been noticing connections cutting out at time. It is frustrating when I lose my internet.we have ~3000 sq foot house... 3 levels (basement, first, second). We don't use all of these at the same time but we have: 2 laptops, 3 iphones, ipad, and a PS3 for online gaming.
How can I get the absolute best, most reliable connection and speeds out of my router so we don't experience disconnects?I bought the RE1000 range extender... having installed it yet because the install CD that came with it is the wrong CD (It came with the E900 install CD... which is for a router)I bought the N600 USB adapter which I guess is supposed to update your wireless card for your laptop. I am using that but bars seem low..

my old D-link DGL-4300 was rock steady showing 54 Mbps constant speed (link rate) (in Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit Wireless Network Connection Status window). The new E4200 jumps around from 72 Mbps to 114 Mbps to 130 Mbps to 144 Mbps. However, it mainly stays at 72 Mbps. I have seen 150 Mbps briefly but I have never seen 300 Mbps. I have even placed my laptop within 2 -3 ft of the router and have a strong signal (4 bars) but I still have the same link rate issue. I would think that Windows would show 300 Mbps link rate for my connection when it is that close to the router. My laptop is a Toshiba with an integrated Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. My son also has a Toshiba laptop with the same wireless adapter but he gets lower speeds than mine due to the fact that he is 50' away in another room in the house. His connection also jumps around but it is at lower link rates than mine.

I have a WRT160Nv3 router connected to a CM100 modem. I noticed that over time, perhaps a day or more, the connection speed slows. Usually, unplugging the router for a while then starting it up again restores the speed as per my cable company's speed test. I have called the cable company and their tech support reports a good signal to the house.

I have had my WRT310n for at least a year now. When I first started using it, my broadband speed would drop after a while till it was sometimes under 1mb. I have Charter high speed. I checked around here and found that heat may have been an issue so I got it propped up so I had some airflow under it even though it didn't feel hot when checking. I also updated the firmware then and for a long time it seemed to have cured the issue. Lately though, the problem is back. I updated firmware again but still no change. The unit is cool to the touch so heat is not the problem. After turning off for a bit and then rebooting, the speed goes back to normal and stays that way for a few days. I also tried rebooting my cable modem to test that aspect but after doing that, no change. Just rebooting the router fixes things. I'm at a loss. I can't keep having this happen especially since my wife works remotely from home.

I'm having an issue with my laptop. Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.

Soon my town will be getting fiber to the home, so I've already upgraded my home network to handle this. One of the changes is that I'll no longer use my powerline adapters to stream video, but to transfer the IPTV data. For streaming I wanted to switch to Wifi, so I bought the E4200 and compatible adapters and bridges (see subject). The powerline adapters have a bandwidth of 200Mbps, of which I get an actual 120. This works fine except for full 1080p, that stutters. The E4200 has a maximum of 450Mbps, but the adapters and bridge only do 300, but that should be sufficient. So after replugging my network, I tested it last night by playing a 350MB 45 minute episode of a TV series... And it stuttered!
Doing the math, that would mean the connection was less that 1Mbps! The WUSB600N and E3200 were (direct line) about 4 meters apart, separated by a concrete floor. What is the best way to measure the actual connection speed? And more important; since the E3200 does both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, how can I tell which band the adapter is using? I want to use the 5Ghz band, since that is fairly empty compared to the 2.4Ghz. However, I've configured both with the same ID, as the E4200 manual instructs, but I think it may be better to separate them?

I got several issues with the E4200.First of all, my connection speed dropped from 2megs/sec to 100k/sec with that router. Flashing it with the lastest firmware worked but still, I don't get all my speed as I has with my WPG54GS (with DD-WRT).Second, speed is really unstable, like if it was working by burst of data.Third, I got a gigabit port on my computer, plugged in the router and still, I can't make more than 10megs/sec WIRED (!) between my computers. I desactivate the ipv6 from my network card but still, no luck.

I have been spending days !!! trying to resolve why my laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.Using RCA modem, WRT160n v3 router.

I did some testing with a few wireless N routers and then decided to buy a Linksys e 2500 as it was on a special for $66 in Australia. The wireless routers i tested were (Belkin brand new model / Netcomm & Dlink Used ones)1. Netcomm N800n Fastest wireless transfer speed 9MBytes or 72 MBPS.2. Dlink - Around 6MBytes/s or 48MBPS.3. Belkin - Around 4-5 MBytes/secDid not test the Linksys before buying it.4. Linksys E 2500 - around 5MBytes/s = 40MBPS.After all this testing, got a new Linksys believing that a cisco device should have good quality. My problems is that the connection speed on the device stays a 72BPS whereas on the Netcomm / D-link it used to be 130mbps. Not that this bothers me, however the file transfer speed matches the Link status connection speed. The router was placed at exactly the same location, file transfer was checked by transferring large file sizes.Lan setup is1. Belkin ADSL 2+ (Modem with Wireless b/g and Voip) only being used now as an ADSL Modem and VOIP service.2. Cisco linksys e 2500.3. Media centre PC which has a wired connection to linksys e 2500.4. Main PC (Connected wireless to the linksys). The network adapter is a DLINK DWA125 N150 adapter (2.4GHZ only). The distance between the wireless adapter and the wireless router is approximately 12 feet and there is direct line of sight.5. IPAD.5. Using 2.4GHZ as i dont have a 5GHZ adapter yet. Router is only on wireless N mode.I was better off using a second hand Netcomm rather than a brand new Cisco router. The cisco router has 4 internal antennas, whereas the netcomm one had only 2 external antennas. My signal strength is excellent. Only problem is the slow internal transfer between the Main PC and the Media Center PC. Main PC is Core i7 950 where as the Media Centre is a Core 2 Duo e6400GHZ with 4GB Ram. Both PCs running Windows 7 Ultimate (Main PC) , Professional (Media Centre PC). My network knowledge is decent. Is there any settings in the advanced Wireless mode for the Linksys that can make my internal file transfers faster. [code]
