I'm having a weird issue with a dozen WAP4410N we just bought : The MAC address assigned to them (i.e. the one printed on the products body) apparently changes for no reason (that I can understand anyway).
I noticed this because I assigned static leases to them through our isc-dhcpd, and couldnt connect to them via their supposed IP address. Looking at the log I could see that the MAC was slightly different from the printed one : A4:93:4C:B1:91:56 became A2:93:4C:B1:91:57,2C:54:2D:38:E5:AA became 2A:54:2D:38:E5:AB, etc.
If I reboot them either from the web interface or by doing a 'shut no shut' on the POE link, they sometimes revert to the original MAC address. Sometimes not, with yet another slight variation on the MAC address.
While not a real issue - I can still make their IP static and be done with it - I want to understand what is happening and why. All the WAP4410N are connected to either Catalysts 4506 or 2960, VLAN is enabled, Default VLAN ID is not default, VLAN Tag is set to 'Untagged' and VLAN Tag over WDS is set to 'Disabled'. All 4410N are running '2.0.5.3' firmware.
I added Linksys RV-016 16-ports VPN Router into the connection. RV-016 supported multiple subnets.
As mentioned in [URL], D-Link DIR-615 needs to be a device which could support multiple Vlan subnets. But unluckily DIR-615 does not support multiple Vlan subnets.
Therefore I added Linksys RV-016 in the the combination of devices. As what i found in RV-016 GUI setting, it supports multiple subnets.
Purpose outline:
1. Have to create two different SSIDs. - SSID 1 for Management (able to view all other LAN devices) - SSID 2 for guest and staff (unable to view all other LAN devices)
2. Create two VLANs in catalyst 2960s.
3. Create two subnets in Linksys RV-016 to accept two Vlans from catalyst 2960s.
Any experience of configuring RV-016 for the mentioned purpose above?
I have two 2960's in this new environment that I am administering. I am receiving a message on one unit (Designate it 2960-2) of %IP-4-DUPADDR: Duplicate address 192.168.168.8 on Vlan1, sourced by 3037.a63e.540. The "sourced by" address is the 2960-1. I do not know how these units were originally set up. How can I determine where the duplicate address is originating from.When I perform an ARP -a the address that corresponds to the 192.168.168.8 is the mac address of the ethersvi interface on the 2960-1. My inherited network has a Cisco Catalyst 4506 with a WS-X4124FX–MT fiber card that connects to twelve Cisco 2950 switches over 62.5 micron multimode fiber at 100 Mbps. I do not know my run lengths (or even where the conduits run), but the furthest switches are well over a thousand feet from the server room. Any appropriate test equipment to provide this information soon.
We are looking at upgrading the main switch to a Catalyst WS-C4507+E with two WS-X4712-SFP+E cards and the closets to Cisco 2960S-48TD-L switches. Assuming this is a reasonable move, my question is about choosing the appropriate SFP’s for our current and future needs.
I am aware that 62.5 micron multimode fiber is the least favorable for extended lengths, but I will not be in a position to replace it for at least a year. If I purchase 10 Gbps modules, like the SFP-10G-SR or SFP-10G-LRM, can they “throttle down”, either automatically or by setting a parameter, to communicate at slower speeds over distances that exceed their 10 Gbps maximum link lengths on multimode fiber?
We have a Cisco Catalyst 4506 running: "Cisco IOS Software, Catalyst 4000 L3 Switch Software (cat4000-I9K91S-M), Version 12.2(25)EWA14, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)" I have configured the default gateway as: ip default-gateway X.Y.116.65, However, when I do, "show ip route", it only shows the 3 connected networks and states "Gateway of last resort is not set". The Command "ip classless" is not set. I read on some blogs that this might explain the issue. However, when I go into config mode (config t), I get the following output.
Our customer get the problem that the switch count the 5mins input/output rate of connected traffic interface always ZERO.The problem only occur in the module 3,4 and 5 interface, module 2 has no problems.

i am using two Cisco AP 4410N series in my network .Wants to use MAC address Filtering but it supports only 20Nos of MAC to add in the AP. Is there any way like IOS upgrade the AP supports more MAC Address to add.
From the WAP4410N admin pages or console you can enable e-mail alerts. You have to set the essential TO address and mail server address. Where can I put the FROM address ? From what I can see it uses the hostname value as from address. The hostname in my case is ap02. Then you could try setting a mail address in the hostname field, but thats not allowed.

I am implementing a guest wireless network to work alongside my internal network. The guest network will use the existing switching network and will be separated by VLANs. I have the ASA set so that traffic can get to it and out to the Internet. I can set up a workstation on the same VLAN as my guest network and can route inside my network (strictly doing this for testing purposes). Where I am having problems is with the Catalyst 4506 switches and the ip routing. I had two separate "ip route" statements defined on my switches.

I have discovered that the traffic is always following the default route despite the fact that my IP address on my test workstation falls in the 10.200.2.x network. I was looking at documentation and found that it is possible to set up policy-based routing on the core switches. Can you have two "ip route" statements defined like this to segreate traffic or do I have to use PBR for routing (or a combination) in this case? If I define PBR then how does that impact my existing routing? I need to make sure that I can still route the existing traffic while I'm configuring this change.
I have two Cisco 4506's running cat4500-ipbase-mz.122-50.SG3.bin. Periodically, when attaching a new workstation to these switches the Mac Address of the device disappears off the port when the device is connected or the port is configured. The only way to correct the issue is to do a hardware reset on the blade or reboot the switch. After resetting the blade or rebooting the switch the devices will start showing up on the port and connect. This does not effect devices that are already connected to the switch, just newly added devices
Both switches are populated with WS-X4148-RJ45, WS-X4148-RJ45V and WS-X4248-RJ45V blades. It doesn't matter which blade the new device is being connected to. I believe that this may be a "Bug" but have been unable to locate one.
We have 3 WAP4410N on our network. Our laptops pick them up but I cannot access the configuration Utility or ping the default IP address. If their IP addresses have been changed how do I find out what their current IP adds are? We currently use static IP addressing for our network.
I've just made a purchase for a Cisco 2960 8 port switch ( Exact model: WS-C2960PD-8TT-L ), I reckon this is what I need to set up my network, so far I've gone through the Express Set-up and configured it through there with no problems. I've set up the hardware in the following manner:
-Internet Modem >Port 8 on Switch ->Port 1 on Switch goes to 1252 Cisco AP ->Port 2 on Switch goes to Linksys VOIP home Router
I let it start up and can connect to the internet through the AP, and through the router. (I'm posting through the AP-Switch set-up right now.) However, once I connect to the AP with a second client. It refuses to let the second client connect/not give an internet connection, as it would a direct connection to the modem.I'm going to assume this is due to NAT not being configured through the command line on the switch yet.
I'm working with two Catalyst 2960 switches and I would like to know if there is a way to monitor bandwidth on individual ports. Ideally I would like to have one graph showing a bandwidth usage reading on each port. I tried using the Network Assistant to accomplish this, but I was only able to view one port at a time. I also tried using a traffic graphing program from Paessler, but a MIB file is needed to allow the program to connect to the switch. When I ran a search on the network management page the 2960 was not on the list for MIB supported products. Is this type of graph possible to do?
I have a problem with radius authentication on catalyst 2960 with freeradius as radius-server. The Catalyst is behind a HP5412zl layer3-switch. The rest of the network are hp-layer2 switches, which do radius authentication to the same radius server. The ios on the catalyst is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-1.SE3. Apparently there are no requests made to the radius-server, since I dont see any requests coming in. Port 0/7 is voice port with laptop behind , /port 0/8 access-port with laptop directly connected.

I would like to be able to query the dot1dStpPortState obect on the Catalyst 2960-S on our LAN . Im running firmware c2960s-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE2.bin and according to the Cisco SNMP Object Navigator the object is supported (via the BRIDGE-MIB).However when i query using snmpwalk from my workstation :snmpwalk -v 2c -c bic-zua-ro 10.u.y.x 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.15.1.3 I receive and error .SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.2.15.1.3 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID For the sake of comparison, querying our 4700 :snmpwalk -v 2c -c bic-zua-ro 10.u.y.x 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.15.1.3 returns (as expected, cropped)

I try to add a Catalyst 2960 to Cisco Network Assistant, I get the prompt for password but I get a "Authentication failed". I use the same login / password for telnet that works fine. Http admin page is reachable but I cannot login with the "admin" account.
I have a device that does ip audio on one mac address and managagement is on another mac address. Both of these mac addresses come from one NIC on the device. We need to split these two traffic paths into two different vlans.How can I program this switch to sperate the different traffic into two vlan's based on mac address on one interface?

i try to implement layer 2 qos in 2960. when i complete to configure the switch, i want to test the qos.PC1 conect to switch port 1,PC2 conect to switch port 2 . PC1 is source teminal. i use skydata.exe and FTP for the test.
when use the skydata ,the PC2 speed can reach 10mbps.when use the FTP , the PC2 only can reach 1.2mbps. why?

Since I updated a Catalyst 2960 switch to IOS version 12.2(55)SE1 I can't do searchs by MAC address, when I do "Monitor->Search" the following error appears:"The software version of the selected switch does not support some of the CLI commands in read-only mode for this window. You must have read-write access to this switch to display complete information in this window" If packets are captured you can see that the issued command by the CNA host is "GET /exec/show/mac-address-table/", the answer from the switch is:"show mac-address-table ^% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
If I do "Configure->Switching->MAC Address" instead I get the mac address-table correctly. In this case the issued command is "GET /exec/show/mac/address-table/dynamic" and no error is displayed, the answer from the switch is the list of mac-address table.
How would I go about stacking 4 Cisco Catalyst 2960-48PST-L switches? The one switch needs to accept a fiber connection from a distribution switch. Do I have to buy flexstack module and cables? If so where does the module go on the switch? If this switch cannot do this set up, any other switch I should look at.
I need to upgrade a Catalyst IOS, but I got a bit confused. The catalyst is currently running "c2960-lanbase-mz.122-35.SE5.bin", but I want to upgrade to "c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-35.SE5.bin", in order to enable ssh. [code] What are the appropriate steps in order to upgrade to "c2960-lanbasek9-mz. 122- 35. SE5.bin". I have downloaded the tar file (c2960-lanbasek9-tar.122-35.SE5.tar)

Im trying to Connect a 2960-S Catalyst Switch to a 3560 Catalyst Switch.
