Cisco Wireless :: Configuring 1232AG As Repeater
May 26, 2011
I have a Cisco Aironet 1130 Series setup as a Root AP and a Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point setup as a Repeater. However i cannot get this to work. I can connect fine to the Root AP but not to the Repeater.
I receive the folloiwng error on the Repeater AP.
'*Mar 1 00:00:24.887: %DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response'
The Root access point is connected to a Cisco router (192.168.168.1) which is the gateway to outside and is also acting as a dhcp server.
Both SSID's and authentication/encryption match.
Im using the the below mac-address for Authenticating the Repeater to the Root with the parent 1 command. Should i be using the mac address of dot11radio 0 of the Root AP??
AP_Root#sh interfaces dot11Radio 0Dot11Radio0 is up, line protocol is up Hardware is 802.11G Radio, address is 001b.2b69.6ca0 (bia 001b.2b69.6ca0) MTU 1500 bytes, BW 54000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Is it possible to set an Aironet 1232AG-A-K9 as a repeater while still using a 4402 controller? I have some wireless security cameras in our parking lots that I need to extend wireless to and I have a handful of 1232 points that I am not using. I have some omni antennas and a yagi directional that I was planning on using.Everything I am reading talks about configuring the AP while in automous mode, not while running the lightweight image.

Because there is one area we cannot layout the cable. How to add the repeater and how to configure the repeater in wlan controller network.
Do i need the change the software of Wlan Controller to support Mesh Network or this version 7.2.103.0 can support the repeater because for 1 access point i dont want to upgrade the version.

I'm trying to configure mine as a wireless repeater, but to no avail. Here's what I've done so far: disabled WPS changed my router's IP to 192.168.0.2 (because the source router's IP is 192.168.0.1) rebooted the router enabled WDS, found the network I want to repeat using the Survey feature, then filled in the WPA2 password. enabled WPA2 security on my own repeated network, using the same authentication type and password as the original rebooted the router.
My router complains that "WAN port is unplugged", and it doesn't get a WAN IP or incoming packets, which probably means it's expecting the internet signal to come from the WAN port rather than the wireless network I set up, right? How can I force the router to connect to the network? Also, should both routers be in the same subnet? I've tried with different subnets but nothing changes. The source router is a D-Link DIR-600.

I have spent countless weekends trying to configure the WAP 4410 as a wireless repeater. From what I see the instructions and help screens seem to be incomplete or the WAP is not capable of this function even though it is available. It will not connect to the modem wirelessly as a repeater. I have tried numberous settings including the same channel and SSID without avail. As soon as I disconnect it from the wireless modem it will no longer connect to the internet.I have an older WRT 610N which will connect to the modem as a repeater so I don't think it is at the modem end.Searches have indicated others with a similar problem but I don't see any viable solutions except to buy and connect to another WAP 4410.Contacting Cisco for suppor by chat t has been pointless. Either they are not available when I am or they are clueless.

I would like to ask for assistance on how to configure one unit WAP4410N access point to work as repeater to one unit WRT120N wireless router.
As a background, I had one WRT120N already in my house before I bought one WAP4410N as advised by a Linksys guy. I wanted to wirelessly extend the signal of my WRT120N wherever its signal is so low around my house. The WAP4410N should work as repeater to WRT120N.
I already configured WAP4410N to work as repeater by enabling all the choices in its wireless AP mode like the “wireless WDS repeater” and the “wireless client/repeater” but to no avail. I successfully setup a similar scenario before using the old pair of one WRT54G and one WAP54G. I replaced the old pair with the newer one ( WRT120N and one WAP4410N).
Is the tandem of WAP4410N and WRT120N can be configured technically as like as what I wanted? Do I need to upgrade the firmware of both devices? Did I miss something in the configuration?

We have a WAP4410N as a Access Point and a second WAP4410N as a Wireless WDS Repeater. The settings are as of below.
We couldn't get the mobile users to get connected to the Access Point. But if we uncheck the option "Allow wireless signal to be repeated by a repeater.", it works.

I have an AIR-AP1131AG-E-K9 running as root AP with three SSID's (mbssid), all WPA-2 PSK, IOS 12.4(25d)JA Now I would like to use an AIR-AP1231G-E-K9 as repeater for one of the SSID's (all three are AFAIK not possible), IOS 12.3.8-JEE(ED) So only one SSID is used.
I use exactly the same shared secrets and security settings on both devices, on the repeater the SSID is designated as infrastructure-ssid.Unfortunately I have the problem that the repeater AP cannot associate with the root AP.I have verified that aironet extensions are enabled, same security settings are used and checked many sites on the net which describe how to configure a repeater AP. Is there any incompatibility between these two APs? I have two of the AIR-AP1231-G-E-K9 APs available, do I need to use the same models?

I need to set my wireless network with those equipments. I have the E4200 with RE1000 in my old place, with no problems. In my new place, there is a blind spot and I bought another RE1000 to use like a repeater of the first repeater (is that possible????). Does not work.
Searching for answers in the internet, I found how to set the WDS (available on the RV110W) :
A Wireless Distribution System (WDS) is a system that enables the wireless interconnection of access points in a network. It allows a wireless network to be expanded using multiple access points without the need for a wired backbone to link them.
Can I do it with my equipments, or I have to buy the WAP4410N?

I would like to provide WiFi in a big house of 4 floors so I have installed 1 WAP4410N wired to the Internet router to act as access point and I have configured 3 others WAP4410N as WDS repeater of the first one.In the first one (the AP), I have checked the option "Allow Wireless Signal to be repeated by a repeater" then entered the 3 repeaters' MAC addresses as allowed devices to repeat the signal.
Is that configuration OK ? Is there any way to add another (a fourth) repeater to this configuration ? Because there is only 3 fields to specify allowed repeaters' MAC addresses in the AP.

I followed all instructions, same SSID, Security, Channel, etc (y left the IP by default, though) but devices connected to the WAP2000 don´t get an IP and can´t connect to the internet. I wanted to kno if the WRT120n´s signal can be repeated, and if so if I need to change any configuration parameter.

Currently I have a WAP4410N setup and would like to add a second WAP4410N but as wireless repeater. I want my users to have wireless access without the need to keep changing the wireless connection based on their location within the factory.
The AP Mode on teh WAP4410N gives me the options below, but I am not sure which one is the correct one:
Option 1 - Wireless WDS Repeater
Option 2 - Wireless Client/Repeater
Below is the link from cisco with explanation. [URL]
Also, if have WAP54G, can I setup this unit to be a wireless repeater with the WAP4410N devices? or all repeaters must be of the same model? Existing WAP4410 is setup to operate at Wireless B/G Mixed mode.

I need setting up a WAP4410n v 2.0.1.0 as a repeater. Warning, this is the first time I have worked with a repeater. I have tested with a netgear router and a Linksys 160n router. Unfortunately I only have the netgear to continue testing with since the Linksys is at my customer’s site. I can get my hands on a Linksys E3200 if I have to. I have tried a number of setting combinations and I still cannot get the signal to be repeated. So this is what I think the setup should be:I setup the router and the WAP4410n repeater to have the same ssid and channel. For security I first tried to have both the router and the repeater to use WPA2 personal using TKIP then I read that there is a problem using WPA2 with version 2 of the firmware so I then tried using WEP having both the router and repeater using the same key. I selected Wireless WDS repeater mode. I did a site survey and selected my router. Now from what I understand, which is very little, this is all I should really need to do. I have left all of the other settings to the default values. So what am I missing?

We have an 2504 wireless controller at the office with 5 LAP1142's. At another office we have a single AP1142 which doesn’t quite reach end to end. Ideally I want drop in another AP1142 to provide end to end coverage. Does AP1142 has a repeater mode? If not is there any way to make two AP1142's work with each other so they appear as a singular access point? Can they be configured to handle roaming?

I recently bought a Cisco RE1000 wireless repeater to boost the wireless signal to my garage office. Since then the signal has been intermittent, fluctuating between strong and weak signals, sometimes dropping off completely. Today I finally uplugged it, and the signal strength seems the same, even steadier, though that could be just the way the wind is blowing today.
How do I know if I'm picking up the wireless or repeater signal? Could it be interfering with my basic signal? How do I know which signal I'm getting?

I have a Cisco WAP200 Wireless-G Access Point - PoE/Rangebooster with the latest firmware 2.0.2.4-ETSI?I’m trying to set it up as a repeater, repeating the wireless signal from a Cisco 877W.I have configured the WAP200 with the same SSID, WPA key, and channel as the 877W.
I have changed the WAP200’s AP Mode setting to Repeater, and picked up the 877W’s MAC Address. The WAP200 is broadcasting and I can connect to the wireless network, but I don’t get DHCP. It’s almost like it’s still in Access Point mode.

I am a bit confused of the repeater functionality in the mentione AP, my concerns are:
1- Will each radio be dedicated to one function (for example 2.4 GHz for user access and 5.0 GHz for repeater functionality)?
2- Will the internet speed for users be affected when using the access point in repeater mode (no ethernet)?
3- Can an Autonomous AP function as a repeater?
4- Is there any license required?
5- What is the signal overlap requirements between the two Wired and non Wired AP?
6- Can the non wired AP be work as a repeater for another non wired AP (similar to cascading)?

I'm trying to setup a WAP200 as a wireless repeater and I am having some problems. The SSID I am trying to bridge is coming from a WRV210.
I on both devices I have the SSID, security, and channel set the same. The WAP200 is set to Repeater mode and I did a site survey to find the WRV210. The WRV210 is set to to allow the WAP200 repeat its signa using auto select, manual with site survey and manual actually entering the MAC address by hand.
Nothing seems to work. I can see the wireless next work but when i connect to the repeater I never get an IP address.

I have a fairly large home (>5000 sq ft) with multiple levels and some "dead spots" in the extreme areas. I would like to have a fantastic wi-fi signal through the home for access to my home network for my family and internet for guests. I have Fios with a 50/20 mpm with a "g" router. I also have purchased 2 repeaters (ampedwireless.com) and installed 1. Recognizing that it appears to have created a different network, so this isn't what I want to do. Then I went back and purchased 2 access points. I need to have an "hardware solution" in my theater (basement) as well as in my bedroom (3rd floor).

Linksys
DHCP: enabled,
IP lease range 192.168.1.100 to 150
Wireless SSID, Security Mode, Passphrase, Channel Width and Channel number same as Dlink
Dlink:
DHCP: disabled
AP Mode: Access point
Bridge Restrict:Enabled
Remote Bridges MAC Address: is the linksys MAC.
And I removed the Layer2Interface and WAN old configuration.
