I would like to setup three Aironet 2602I-A-K9 WAP in my office. Being new to Cisco WiFi, it appeared that I HAVE to have a WiFi Controller to make this work. Is that a requirement that requires me to also purchase a WIFI controller?

I would like to know how or where i can obtain said driver. I have tried a number of sites online via a diffferent pc (as mine at present wont go online as i cannot connect it to hub) but these sites want to install driver/hardware identifier software and as it is a different computer i want to install said driver this solution is no good to me

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a cisco services contract with IBM that supplies us access to the usb drivers, firmwares etc, and we have a Cisco 5508 6.x running ~30 Cisco 1252's, some 1231's and (potentially) some 1262's once the firmware update is done.
We have a base-count license(permanent) of 50AP's, no expiry
So I guess my questions are:
1) When flashing the new firmware - do the licenses require any sort of modification, or will they work as per normal
2) Are any serial numbers or codes required to be entered once the 7.0.98 firmware is installed?
3) I assume that the old firmware/config becomes 2nd in line to the primary boot option of the firmware during boot process?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently authenticating wireless clients using PEAP User Authentication through a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller and Cisco ACS 4.2, which points to a Microsoft Active Directory external database. This does not keep users from configuring thier personal devices with thier Active Directory login information and connecting to the corporate wireless network. I can setup a client to use a certificate, machine authentication and user authentication, but I havent been able to REQUIRE the certificate and or machine authentication to authenticate to my wireless network.

With the client configuration set to use Computer Authentication, it passes the authentication through ACS (and AD), but the client can also be configured for User Authentication and also pass authenticaiton. Is there a way to only require Computer Authentication through a Cisco WLCCisco ACS?
Remove PPPoe settings on Vista. I uninstalled the att software but the pppoe settings remain and my computer says my network is unidentified and will only allow local connection. My XP computer had no problem making the change but the Vista one keeps saying it is an unidentified network. I have tried turning everything off and then restarting the cable and then the computer but it does not work. I have a wireless adapter and can connect the Vista machine to the network with no problem but need a wired connection for games I play so I need to fix the wired problem. I am sure the settings the ATT software changed is the problem but I don't know how to get into the system to fix the problem. There is no router involved. The router is built into the cable modem.

What does "Not Supported" mean for the ASA 5512-X? Does this mean HA does not work, or that I need to purchase an additional license to use the HA feature?

I have a Cisco 2921 router running c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.150-1.M4.bin.Its licensed for ipbase, ipbasek9, Permanent and uc,uck9,Permanent (I'm using the router as a voice gateway),I'm looking to update the IOS to c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.150-1.M5.bin as I'm told it has a fix for some DSP problems.So the question is, do I need to obtain a new license key to apply this update or am I covered by the existing license on the router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a small office with about 20 people. I currently have a T1 line which feeds a Cisco ASA 5505. I would like to replace the T1 line with two (2) ADSL lines. I need a dual WAN switch/load balancer. I researched a bit and found that Cisco RV042 will probably work for me even though I don't need another VPN and would have to disable it.
My question: Is there anothe device from Cisco or others which will give me the dual WAN and load balancing but not the VPN piece. My assumption is that it would be a less expensive device if such an animal exists.

We plan to upgrade the 5508 to 7.3.112.0 and the 4400 is already 7.0.116.0. Will there be any issue if the anchor controller is not the same code as the foreign controller? Do I also have to upgrade the acnhor controller to 7.0.240.0?

We have been presented with the usual suspects in cloud-based (Aerohive, Meracki, etc) and with Cisco (5500) and Aruba on the other side. We are a multi-campus organization with approx. 200 APs.Any hard reasons why go with a controller-based vs. cloud-based solution? If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?

I have industrial barcode scanners that connect to one SSID and then there is the business network on the office SSID (no vlan seperation for these devices just different SSIDs). There is not really a need to seperate the business network from the scanners in any case. However, there are needs for a guest network and this needs to be seperated. At the bare minumum I would like to have the wireless guest network. Here is what I have: 2125 Wireless LAN controller managing 18 LAPs (1 indoor and 17 outdoors)Cisco Cat 2950 switches (2 x 24 port and soon to be replaced with 2 x 48 port 2960's with 802.1x capability) Sonicwall TZ210 firewallOne existing wired and trunked vlan for PLC infrastructure. One ESXi hosting Windows server guests (soon to be 2 with vMotion) The reason for the wired guest access network is tp prevent anyone from plugging into the wall jack in the office with thier home laptops or anyone else from being on the same subnet as our domain machines. Granted they would be unathenticaed but there would be no layer 2 seperation and that is what I think would be best.
How would I go about doing this on the wireless controller without an anchor controller just using my existing hardware? I would like to have the Guest SSID only availible in the front office. Is it possible to offer a guest network while still servicing the business network SSID on the same access point? Then might I be able to have the guest network be treated as it should at the controller? However this might present another issue altogether as the guest traffic will be over the same wire as the business SSID until it hits the controller for management.
I understand that the PCEX-3G-HSPA requires and a sim card. I also have a PCEX-3G-CDMA-V. Does this require a sim card as well? And if so, where is the sim card installed?

My wireless clients could only receive a DHCP allocated IP address for the 55.XX subnets defined on the wireless lan controller and SRE (shown on page 12 of the pdf). All traffic seemed to be routed via the native vlan of the inside router trunk interface and all DHCP requests arriving at my DHCP server were from 55.XX. Because of this I didn't see the point of trunking
so I've changed it to a point to point routed connection, created a 55.XX DHCP scope on my DHCP server for the wireless clients and all routing works fine.I found the document rather misleading.

Due to lack of wires we decided to extend our network by using WET546 bridge by linksys. Ideally we looking to create topology like this:
(Computer)--eth--(WET546)---wireless----(AP/WLC2100)---(router)---(Internet)
WET546 successfully authenticates and looks pretty healthy on controller (see below) , however neither of computers plugged to WET546 was unable to obtain ip address from dhcp server , nor working with static ip. I was under impression what it might be related to some default policies on WLC2100. Logs (warning) on WLC2100 looks clean.
We have a 2504 Wireless Controller and it works great!We currently have 6 Access Points (Aironet 1252) connected.We just added the sixth one a few weeks ago and with a properly configured and fully functioning Wireless Controller, it was super easy.Now, I have been assigned to add another Access Point, but at a remote site.The plan is to have up to three or more APs at this remote location and we want them to talk back to the Wireless Controller.We have plenty of licences on our current Wireless Controller.Do do not want to spend the funds for another Wireless Controller and more licenses.
1. How does one manually add a Aironet 1252 to the 2504 Wireless Controller
2. If the AP is on a different subnet than the Wireless Controller, how does one get it registered?
3. The best for last: Can a Aironet 1252 talk to a 2504 Wireless Controller over a WAN link?
I just turned on 2 Wirelless LAN Controllers 5508 and I am getting this message on both of them:

And it is taking me to the BootMenu. I selected option 4 to Clear Configuration and the controller seems to restart the system but I still get the same error. I checked the LEDs status and Sys is Amber and Alarm is OFF which according to the documentation is a System Crash.
Interface management on WCL 5508 is assigned ip 192.168.255.200 and from a PC ( on different subnet), i can ping but cannot access https to WCL but From a PC ( in the same subnet) i can ping and https.

Does this mean wlc does load balancing as different ap's associate on different controllers. or does it only server as active-standby wlc.

When I play online games I get a 'Connection Interutped' everything other 30 seconds or so.Now when I installed the Verizon stuff, the over the phone person told me to uninstall the SM Bus Controller. Now everytime I start up my computer I get a 'Found New Hardware' wizard telling me I should install the SM Bus Controller.
