View 1 RepliesI have a cisco 877 configured foir lan to lan between sites A and B. I have used vlan 1 but looks like i have to bvi1 if i need to use the wireless, what is the difference between bvi and vlan. if i wanted users on the same vlan and wireless what would be the base config ? at the moment all corporate traffic goes to site A and other traffic goes to internet. now would i be able to create two ssid, one for corporate to access corporate subnets and the other for guest access alone where the traffic goes out to the internet.

I have two SSIDs on an Autonomous Access Point, that goes to a 2960 switch, that connects to a L3 3560. I have a vlan for admin/private internal access that uses the native vlan (1) and guest vlan (50). I have configured both and I am trying to get both to go out the same Internet connection.
I cannot get the guest access to access the Internet. It looks like my computer will go, but it just comes up saying no Internet access. All interfaces are trunking this vlan properly. I can communicate from the laptop to the 3560 but I just can't get to the Internet.         Â

This is an evaluation POC lab to sell ISE and NCS to our management to make our life easier. The problem I have amoungst many is I can create a guest user directly on the ISE and the guest can login, the ISE monitor shows the guest authenticates but the clients webpage passes them back to the login page not onto the original client url. The web auth is pointed at the ISE/guestportal/portal.jsp page.If I point the web auth at the internal WLC page using a WLC local user account it works. If I set the guest access to pass through it works without issues getting dhcp and dns. On the ISE is there a policy needed to say if guests are web authenticated give them access? The need is for AD authenticated users to be able tocreate guest users. The AD authentication works for sponsorship and guest creation its just the guest access redirection I am having issues with.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish to establish a private and guest network for a local business. They have Verizon service with its wireless router plus their own personal wireless router. The Actiontec mi424wr (rev i) wireless router is connected via Coax and will remain the first in line so as not to disrupt the set top boxes (STB) channel guide and other features managed by the Actiontec. The radio is active with an SSID of "ABC-Private" and its network is 192.168.1.xx. The thought is that only business personnel will connect to this router for internet.I have connected their Linksys WRT54GS to the LAN port of the Actiontec, using a static IP which I have allocated in the Actiontec's DHCP pool for this purpose. This radio is active with an SSID of "ABC-Guests" and its network is 192.168.2.xx. The thought is that only patrons will connect to this router for internet.
My overall goal is that business personnel will have unrestricted access to the internet AND to each other¦ while patrons will only have HTTP and HTTPS access to the internet¦ and no communications will be permitted between the two network subnets. I realize there are hardware firewalls designed for accomplishing such a goal, but the business hopes to avoid the additional expense, if the aforementioned model can provide this capability. In order to accomplish this goal, my remaining tasks as are follows:
1. On the Linksys, permit only http and https traffic (and whatever else the patrons would need/want).
2. On the Actiontec, deny Linksys IP address access to everything except for the Actiontec gateway.
I have a client that has 3 AP541N's and they want to enable guest wireless access. However, their VOIP provider has their managed switches locked down so we can't add VLANs, etc.So I cannot touch the switch or router config on this LAN.
Â
Looking into AP541N documentation I see VAPs mentioned, can I enable those and have secure guest wireless access with the same private IPs that the rest of the LAN use right now? (That is, the employees are 192.168.2.x and the guest wireless users would also be 192.168.2.x.)
Â
Or do I need to do something else to properly enable guest wireless? Like add another piece of equipment? I did try to add a Cisco RVS4000 to the mix but it wouldn't pass the VLAN across the switches that I setup for the guest wireless SSID. goal is to leave the switch and router in place, and work with the AP541N's that I have and get secure guest wireless.
I cannot sponsor a guest account using his/her email address. When I try to create a guest account, its show as file attached.

I have an e4200v1 in bridge mode (LAN IP 192.168.1.2) connected via its WAN port to a LAN port on the primary router at 192.168.1.1.
Â
Guest Wireless works perfectly in Ver. 1.0.04 build 11 but not in Ver. 1.0..05 Build 7.
I want to set up an E1200 as a wireless access point for guests, and ordinarily I'd be happy to connect it LAN-to-WAN and have it create its own subnet, but I need to connect one office PC to it also because connecting the E1200 to the main gateway displaces that office PC from the last Ethernet port on the main router.
Â
So I disabled DHCP on the E1200 and connected it LAN-to-LAN. The modem is at a fixed, non-configurable address of 192.168.0.1/255.255.0.0 and the main router is at 10.0.0.1/255.255.255.0.  I set the E1200 to a static IP of 10.0.0.12/255.255.255.0.The E1200's primary wireless connection works fine. The guest access connects, but it does not prompt for a password and web pages generate a "failed to load" sort of message.I temporarily connected the E1200 as the main router and re-enabled DHCP, though I kept the static IP of 10.0.0.12/255.255.255.0, and in this configuration the guest access worked. I observed that it connected via 192.168.33.1/guestaccess.cgi (or something very similar to that).
I understand you can have a guest wireless setup on the newer Access Points, and trunk (cisco term) the 2 VLANs and seperate them out with Access Control Lists so they don't talk to each other, but I would rather just give the VLAN 480 it's own DHCP from the router.

I'm trying to connect my portables to a central server that has all my music on it, all located in the same area. I've tried ad-hoc but it limits me to using the preset shared folders only, and its frustrating to use as it breaks once a computer leaves the network.Anyways i just want to create an off-line wireless intranet that will remain persistent even when all computers have left it. This doesnt seem to be possible with built-in windows tools, what program will let me do this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to implement guest WiFi access with web authentication on one of our 5508 WLC (currently deployed within a sandbox environment), but looking for some assistance. The WLC currently has a single connection from port 1 to the 'Test Site 2' switch. This is a dot1q trunk. On the WLC, the interface (for port 1) is configured as follows: [code] Currently, I have one WLAN configured with the profile name 'Guest Test 1', it's enabled and broadcasting the SSID. Security is L3 only with web authentication configured. The WLAN is configured to use the interface names "guest_wifi".
Â
The issue is that when a client connects to the WLAN, it receives an IP address okay (10.99.254.x address), but doesn't seem to be able to contact the WLC to get the web authentication page. Eventually, the WLC terminates the connection due to an authentication failure.does it sound like I'm taking the correct approach here? The idea is that clients connect to the guest WLAN, which puts them on VLAN 99 and routes traffic through to the ASA and then onto the internet.
I think I already know the answer, but I cannot find any solid documentation. Does the WiSM2 support the 1231G AP.

We have a 5508 controller w/ 1142 APs. I have two GBICs in the interfaces (only one is being used). I want to use a back haul connection for the guest access. I am having a hard time in visioning how to physically set up the cabling from the patch panel. Again, the requirement is to not allow guest users to connect to our production network but I still want/need to manage the AP. This will eventually need to be supported for remote sites tunneling back to the primary location.Â
I am running a 5508 WLC with 10 Access Point. we need to allow Internet Access to Guest. 10MB DSL Internet is dedicated for Guest. This link is terminated on a regular ADSL modem without being part of our network. We want all Guest Internet traffic to reach the ADSL Router. where should I create the Guest VLAN / where the DHCP for Guest users should be created. what is the best practise for similar setup.
Â
Our Network is simple
ISP_Reuter-------ASA_Firewall--------------4505------------LAN-switch 2950
Â
ADSL_modem------------ users connect via wireless but restricted to certain area only.
I have two Cisco WAP4410N access points. Both has Regular and Guest SSIDs, with same configurations, except "Wireless Isolation" on Guest SSID is enabled. Problem is Guest SSIDs are not visible on devices

Access points are working on different chanles, firmware Version: 2.0.1.0.
on WLC 4400 Guest vlan is configured with local authentication, the users get disconnected after 10mins were should i disable the option of 10mins restriction
