D-Link DAP-1522 :: To Work As Wireless Access Point To DIR-825
Jun 4, 2011So just recently purchased the DIR-825 and DAP-1522. At this point I just want to get the DAP-1522 to work as a wireless access point to my DIR-825. So my wireless laptop would connect wirelessly to the DAP-1522 and the 1522 would go wireless to the router. Pretty basic I guess. I was planning on using the WAP to strengthen the 5 GHz signal to the router but again, at this point, I would be happy to get the 2.4 GHz working.
I've been working on this since last night and got frustrated and went to bed. I woke up fresh and decided to try again and I'm not having making any headway.
DIR-825 is connected to my DSL modem and has no problem accessing the internet. I can connect to either 2.4 or 5.0 directly from my laptop with no problem at all and have access to the internet. Encryption is disabled. It worked with encryption but I turned it off to troubleshoot this AP problem.
It should be simple but I must be doing something wrong. BTW is there a way to scan for network devices from the router or the access point? I tried discovering each device with the wireless setup button on each device but they don't recognize each other so I'm configuring this manually.
So the DAP has access point enabled and 802.11 is running in mixed mode. I've tried different variations but nothing has worked. I've tried 20 mhz and 20-40 auto mhz channels but same problem. Wireless security is off for troubleshooting at the moment.
DHCP server is disabled and I've assigned the DAP an available ip from the router's dhcp range. I can connect to the DAP both wirelessly and hard wired. The problem is that it can't seem to connect to the router. So my laptop can connect to the router and ha internet access. And it can also connect to the DAP but does not have internet access. The ip is showing auto configuration 169.x.x.x when connected to the DAP so I'm not getting an ip. Is the router supposed to assign the ip to my laptop through the DAP? But again, if the DAP can't communicate with the router, then that would explain why I can't get an IP.

My two concerns are:Can the 3 remaining ethernet ports be used to wirely connect to local PCs (so the DAP-1522 also acts as a switch) ? Using a TL-WR702N router as a wireless access point on a narrow-boat. How to print from my i Pad and iPhone to a printer on my narrow-boat, on the UK inland waterways. The Apple store geniuses seem to contradict each other on how it can be done, if at all. I have an i Pad and iPhone and would like to print photos, documents and the occasional web page to my Canon MG4250 printer, which has Air print capability, while I am cruising. I don't have a PC on the boat and of course there is no telephone or broadband connection (other than via 3G on my iPhone). In other words, I want to link my printer to a router, then when required, wireless connect to the router to print from my Apple devices.
Will the TP Link TL-WR702N 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router allow me to do this? Reading the product information, this nano router looks very flexible, but all five modes mentioned seem to utilize an internet connection. I only have an internet connection via 3G on my iPhone, and can also tether the i Pad to the iPhone's WiFi hotspot to give internet connection on the i Pad. Would I have to use this internet connection somehow, or can I just connect the Apple devices to the printer via the WiFi on the nano router?
In effect I want to create a wireless access point for printing, without any, or at least a regular, internet connection.
DAP-1522 / Adding Wireless Access Point To Wired Network?

-> PS3
-> DGS-2205 (wired gigabit switch in study)
*-> My PC
*-> Her PC
*-> DAP-1522 (wireless access point/bridge)
Now, we're on the 192.168.1.x domain, and I've already hooked my PC up directly to the DAP-1522 and switched its IP address. So now, I can connect to it through the switch. I've renamed it, set it to WPA2 with a passphrase, and should be set to go. However, I can't get my laptop, IPod touch, or any devices to see it. I tried entering the SSID manually, and nothing can find it.

Unfortunately, my DAP-1522 was not informed of this change and it will not connect to my Directv receiver now. I attempted to log into the bridge to change the password and it will not let me in. Nov 29, 2010I have a DIR-655 router with a DAP-1522 connected in bridge mode. The firmware on the router is 1.21 and the firmware on the bridge is 1.21. I have my SSID set to broadcast on the DIR-655 with WPA-Personal encryption. When I initially setup the DAP-1522, I was able to access the setup page and connect to the DIR-655. On the status page of the DAP-1522, wireless radio is enabled and status is connected. I connected my XBOX 360, Sony BR player and DirecTV DVR to the wireless bridge and none of them can connect to the internet.
I can wirelessly access the bridge's IP, 192.168.0.50, from any computer connected to the DIR-655 but when I attempt to access the internet on any device connected to the DAP-1522, I do not get a connection. On the XBOX 360 I cannot connect my live account. On the Sony BR player, I get a message that new firmware was found, but when it attempts to connect to the internet to download it, the connection times out. Same occurs when attempting to access the internet on the DirecTV DVR receiver.

May 25, 2012More that a year ago, with guidance from D-Link Customer Service, I performed setup on a system consisting of a DSL-2640B (with wireless disabled) and a DAP-1522 as an access point. I included the 1522 so as to have an N network, since the 2640 is G. The system works fine and I'm able to stream via the 1522 to an N 300 USB Adapter. Internet access is fine, and I'm able to access the 2640 with no problem.I want to add another 300 in a different location. To do that, I'll need to access the 1522 from my Windows 7 computer, since I've lost the passphrase that I'll need for the 300.Everything that I've read tells me to connect the 1522 directly to my computer via cable and to temporarily change the network adapter settinge to:
IP = 192.168.0.x various sources list values of 2 and 99 for x
Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.0.50
Then to use a browser window to go to 192.168.0.50 Regardless of the settings that I use, the browser (IE9) always indicates that it can't connect with that address. accessing the 1522, or on any alternative way to obtain the passphrase.

Aug 29, 2012I have a DIR-655 set up as follows: [code] Lost Internet Access on my DAP-1522 on only my wireless laptop connection, but not other wireless nodes on the DAP-1522.I have most of my wireless nodes attached to the DIR-655, which is upstairs. Downstairs is where the DAP-1522 is located. There is a wired connection between the DIR-655 and DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 is being used as a Access Point. On this I have only three nodes that are wireless. My Smartphone, iPad and my laptop. There are also three nodes that are using the wired ports with no issue accessing the internet. The setup above have being working for over two years with no issue. Then three days ago my laptop connects to the DAP-1522, but has "No Internet Access." If I change my wireless connection to the DIR-655 on my laptop, then I do have internet connection. My Smartphone and iPad still are able to access the DAP-1522 and get the internet.
I have deleted my DHCP Reservation for only my laptop on the DIR-655. Wireless connection to the DAP-1522, looked at the DIR-655 and see that DHCP Reservation show the MAC of the laptop and I Reserve it. Still "No Internet Access." On the DAP-1522 it does show that my laptop is associated to this device. I cannot ping my local LAN IP Addresses , a website or Public IP Address only from the laptop. The DIR-655 shows a "Do Not Enter: Wireless system with MAC address 4025C2B97110 disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication" with a connection to the DAP-1522, but shows "Do Not Enter: Wireless system with MAC address 4025C2B97110 secured and linked" with a connection to the DIR-655.
Cisco Wireless :: Wap4410n - Access Point Rejects The Username And Password
Jun 25, 2010Recently I have purchased two brand new wap4410n access points.
I have connected my computer directly to one of the access points, and attempted to connect to the Web Configuration utility through my web browser.
I'm using a: 09' MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard and Safari 5.
I can access the login screen of the access point, although when I enter the default username: admin and password admin, the login screen returns an error: Invalid username and/or password (or something to that effect). The URL changes to: http://192.168.1.245/login.htm&no=3.
I have reset the device by holding in the reset button for thirty seconds, powered down, powered up and re-attempted to login.
I still get the same error as above.
I have attempted to access the Web Configuration utility on both access points, and both access points provide the same error. I have also tried using the username: cisco and password: cisco.
Cisco, when contacted, said both access points must be faulty and I should replace them.
The probability of such an occurrence happening with two devices seems very low, and leads me to think there must be other factors at play. The only constant I can think of is the fact I'm using the same computer to access the devices.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Can't Access Wired WNDR3700v2 Device
Dec 11, 2011I have 4 DAP-1522's bridging to a WNDR3700v2. Any device plugged into any of the 1522's can access the internet and can access shared drives etc. on any other device plugged into any 1522. I can access the WNDR3700 admin website from a device connected to a 1522.
However, no device plugged into a 1522 can access a device plugged into the 3700's ethernet switch. Likewise, the devices plugged into the 3700 cannot access devices plugged into 1522s.
Devices plugged into the 3700's switch can access the internet and can access each other.
I have changed network cables, power cycled all devices (PCs, bridges, routers, etc) at least once. I am running latest firmware on 1522's and 3700. In short, I've tried just about all the basic stuff.
It almost appears that the 3700's switch is acting as an isolated network. I would say that were true, except that I can access the router admin page from anywhere (any 1522 and directly connected to the 3700).
All devices are within the 10.0.0.x address range with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Again, I have no problems accessing the internet. Just the problem of devices plugged into a 1522 communicating with devices plugged into the 3700 and vice versa.
D-Link DAP-1522 :: Can't Access Admin Screen After Connected
Nov 30, 2011I have a Netgear WNDR3300 Dual-Band and is setup to use both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz to achieve 300 Mbps connection.
On the DAP-1522, I use IE (not Firefox or Chrome) for configuration as follow:
- IP address: STATIC
- Wireless config: using Wizard
- Wireless security: WPA2 / AES
- Mac Cloning: disabled
I tested this by connecting a Windows 7 desktop AND laptop via Ethernet cable and both laptop can obtain IP address dynamically, so my DAP-1522 is talking to the WNDR3300 (it has DHCP). Both Win 7 machines can also access the Internet.The problem is, I can NO LONGER access DAP-1522 admin screen, even by typing the static IP address assigned to it. The ONLY way I can re-access it is:
a). Reset DAP-1522
b). Shutdown the WNDR3300 wireless router, assign a static IP to the laptop, connect via cable to DAP-1522

Jun 11, 2011So, in an attempt to improve my signal in my house I relocated my router upstairs from downstairs by running a long cable to the modem downstairs, since I have read that the signal travels more efficiently down than up apparently. That has not been the case. Now, I have two routers. A D-link DIR-655 and a Netgear router provided by Comcast which is a WNR-1000v2.
possible to set one of these routers up as a wireless access point? Have a router upstairs be the access point, and have a router downstairs connected to the modem. This sounds like this may be a solution but let me know if I'm completely wrong. In my mind, what I'm after is more of a range extender or a repeater but at this point I don't know the difference anymore. It's been quite stressful dealing with my old man for the past week because he can't use his iPad.

Nov 5, 2012A friend of mine has a network with the following setup: D-Link DSL-2500U for ADSL, connected straight into a Telkom DG834GUv5 (locally rebadged Netgear) which has 2 PCs connected via cable, and 2 laptops via Wireless. A cable runs from the Telkom into a standard IPLink switch, which merely extends a cable into a D-Link DIR-615 running DD-WRT that has 2 computers connected, and shares wireless to a couple laptops.
At the moment the network is somewhat unstable, and recently the Telkom router has been giving serious problems, even after resetting to default. I want to try make the network a bit simpler and more stable. Firstly, I want to remove the IPLink switch, which merely extends the cable. Is an Ethernet Coupler what I need? Both cables are definitely under 100m combined (probably under 50m).
Now the big thing is a replacement for the Telkom (rebadged NetGear). Should I get another D-Link DIR-615 or is there a better solution? Their budget is between $40 and $60 US. Is it best to stick to the same brand, considering both devices are D-Link at present?

Dec 12, 2012I set up the WAP610N as a wireless access point, and it refuses to accept the passsword on several iphones (2 iphone4s and one iphone5) and a kindle fire.
The devices are picking up the network, but when the password is entered, the access point refuses the password. I've checked the password numerous times and the spelling is correct.
If the access point's settings are set to no security, there's an instant connection, which I expected, but the password is refused on either of the secure settings.
I bought the WAP610N for my son months ago, but he couldn't get it installed in his old apartment several states away because he doesn't have a CD drive in his computer. Now that he's moved into an apartment close to home, I was able to set it up using my computer. So I don't know if maybe it's a firmware issue since it sat in the box for months, or something else.
The access point is hooked up through a TP-Link TL-R860 Cable/DSL Router., which is not wireless.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Access Point Stops Broadcasting Wireless?
Dec 13, 2011I have two DIR-655s. One is my main router, connected to my modem. The other, on the other side of the house, is set up as an access point. I followed this guide to set up my AP: [URL]
Both are are hard wired. I have both of them using the same SSID. Both are 802.11g only, have the same security mode, and key. The only wireless difference is the channel. One uses 6, while the other uses 11.
On initial setup, everything is fine, but after a few hours, the AP just seems to stop broadcasting a signal. I'm using "Wifi Analyzer" on Android to monitor it. When I look at the AP, the wifi indicator light is still on. If I log into it, change the channel, and press save on the "Wireless Settings" screen, it will broadcast for a few more hours before stopping again. The wired connect of this AP always seems to work (Xbox is hard wired to it).

D-Link DIR-655 :: Can't Establish A Wireless Connection To Access Point
Aug 31, 2011So I've decided to use a different router to resolve some VPN issues, and want to use my DIR-655 as a pure wireless access point. I need the access point to use the same range of IP addresses as the rest of the network (maintain access to networked printers, file shares, etc). However, I can't establish a wireless connection to the access point.
- Defined a IP address for the DIR-655 within the DHCP range of the primary router
- Defined the proper subnet
- Disabled the DHCP server on the DIR-655
- Connect a LAN port of the DIR-655 to a LAN port on a switch (note that it's not connected directly to a router).
When I connect a device WIRED to a LAN port on the DIR-655, everything works fine. The device gets assigned a DHCP address (which I know is being assigned by the main router since the DIR-655 DHCP server is disabled), and I can connect to the LAN and I can access the internet with no problem. So I know the DIR-655 is acting correctly to pass thru traffic. Also, I can access the DIR-655 web configuration page from any LAN device (even a device not directly connected to the DIR-655), so I know the DIR-655 is on that LAN correctly.
But when I try to connect WIRELESS to the DIR-655, it doesn't work at all. Although the wireless NIC is connecting to the DIR-655 (e.g. it asks me for the WPA key), it can't pull an IP address, so there is no connection to the LAN or internet.
