Cisco Wireless :: AIR-LAP1242AG-K9 Could Not Join 2106 WLC

Jul 7, 2011

I setup a mini wireless LAN network lab with a not for resale 2106 wireless lan controller and a sales  air-lap1242ag access point. I do not have a DHCP and DNS in my lab environment. I have configured the WLC with the basic configuration using the CLI wizard, i also configured the WLC as a DHCP server for clients that will be connecting to the APs associated to the controller.

I powered up the AP and connect the ethernet port directly to the controller, the controller issued an IP address to the AP, the AP downloaded a new operating system from the controller but failed to join the controller.

I check both debug message on the controller console and the trap messages on the controller's GUI  and it say the AP could not download a configuration from the controller and it is beacuse of invalid license. Below is the trap message:

Configuration Phase Statistics Requests ReceivedResponses SentUnsuccessful Request ProcessedReason For Last Unsuccessful AttemptLast Successful Attempt TimeLast Unsuccessful Attempt TimeLast Error SummaryLast AP Message Decryption FailureLast AP Connection FailureLast Error Occurred Last Error Occurred ReasonLast Join Error Timestamp

Also, I tried to log into the GUI of the AP using the both the username and password  ''Cisco'' but I cannot get into the device. I can only get in through the CLI. In the CLI, almost all the commands I enter gives an error the it is disabled. I don't know what to do any more, I want to know if the access point is faulty or i am not doing the right thing.

Cisco Wireless :: Static Routing On 2106 Controller

Oct 13, 2011

after an unplanned power outage the WLAN in our office has stopped routing.  Clients can associate and get an IP address from the DHCP server on the controller but cannot get past the controller.  A PC on the LAN can ping the default gateway of the SSID (dynamic interface) but cannot ping the client.  Attached is a diagram of the setup.  I am trying to find out how to add a default/static route via the L3 switch that the controller is connected to but am unable to do so either through the CLI or GUI.  The controller (AIR-WLC2106-K9) is operating on ver 5.2.157.0.

Cisco Wireless :: AP C3502-I-K9 Does Not Join Controller

Oct 18, 2012

Network environment: (well configured and working fine)

2 AIR-WLC2106-K9 - Software Version 7.0.235.0
2 AIR-WLC2112-K9 - Software Version 7.0.235.0
10 AIR-LAP1252AG-T-K9 - Software Version 7.0.235.0
10 AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 - Software Version 7.0.235.0

I am adding a Cisco AP c3502-I-K9 to network.

It does not join any of the controllers.

Led is cycling through green, red, and off - that means "discovery/join process in progress" - never ends.

As wireless network is doing fine, I had only added to dhcp server dhcpd-subnet.conf file the above configuration:

class "Cisco AP c3500" {
match if option vendor-class-identifier = "Cisco AP c3500";
option vendor-class-identifier "Cisco AP c3500";

Cisco Wireless :: 3502i Cannot Join Controller?

Oct 15, 2012

When we were installing some new APs, were plugged in to ports that were not configured on the WLC management VLAN.

This is the illustration

WLC management VLAN is VLAN 80 Management VLAN of infrastructure (Switches routers) is VLAN 10

The APs were plugged in to VLAN 10 and they were not able to associate themselves with the controllers.

Through research, those APs were getting a wrong IP address,

I did the Mode button, pressed for 30 secs, but this did not fix the problem, i thought it was going to clean the flash and bring the AP back to factory default I do not believe this happened.

We also added the cisco-capwap-controller.localdomain  to our DNS servers, and then I rebotted the APs and still no luck.

What fixed the issue is we had to go to the DHCP server, release the IP addresses and we found those based on the macs of the APs. What is we do not have the mac addresses?

Now that I have the DNS entry created, if I plug in an AP on the wrong VLAN port will I be able to see it?

Cisco Wireless :: 3602 AP Cannot Join 2504 Controller

Oct 16, 2012

This is a new setup and has not worked yet. I have multiple 3602 APs and one 2504 Controller. I thought initially I could plug-in an AP into one of two POE Ports on the 2504. During debug mode I see that it has low power, was suprised that the 2504 switch can't fully power the AP? Is this correct?Anyways I have another POE switch that I am using with ample power. The configuration for my wireless is that it will be completely segmented off of my internal network as this is for guest access. So DNS servers are external so I cannot create host entries for the AP to discover the controller. With that being said I believe that is just one way for the discovery process to happen. I have my controller management interface and DHCP scope on the controller on the same subnet plugged into the same POE switch. The AP does seem to get a DHCP address and I can ping the controller from the AP. I cannot get any further then that. I will not join the controller and the radios get disabled. I get messages such as "discovery response from MWAR is rejected. I will post a debug log of the AP and its bootup process. This is new equipment so I would assume the firmware is somewhat up-to-date and the 3602 AP is somewhat the latest model.

Cisco Wireless :: AP LAP1142N Can't Join Controller - 4402

I found a recovery image in its flash - c1140-rcvk9w8-mx. I made the AP boot from it by using "set" command and I see that it start booting using this recovery image. Here goes the question. Do all AP settings matter ? E.g. when I run "set" command from AP I see the following:

ap: set

DEFAULT_ROUTER=10.0.0.1
Default_router=10.9.99.1

Cisco :: 2106 - APs Connected To Controller But Not Able To Ping Or Associate

May 31, 2011

I'm setting up a 2106 controller with 3 APs.

When I connect the APs to a port on our 3550 switch, the AP gets an IP and associates with the 2106 controller. I can ping the AP from a wired PC and associate a wireless client to it. When I connect them to the PoE ports that are on the controller, it gets an IP and associates with the controller but, I cannot ping it from a wired PC or wireless client but, I can associate a wireless client to it.

The AP manager and Management interfaces,  under PHYSICAL OPERATION are configured for port 1, which is the port that connects the Controller to the rest of the network. Since the whole network is using VLAN 1, I set the VLANs for the Management interface and AP interface to 0, untagged. I noticed when I set the AP manager interface to 1 I get the same results.

Cisco Wireless :: 1142 AP Will Not Join Controller Through D-Link POE Switch

I'm trying to use 1142 APs with a 2504 Wireless Controller through a D-Link 48PT GBIT XSTACK SWITCH (DLI-DGS-3120-48PC/SI).At any rate, the 1142 AP joins with the wireless controller ONLY when I attach it directly to the controller.  When connected directly to the controller the AP functions normally and all is well. When I attach it through the D-Link switch, the AP flashs green several times, indicating that it can't find the controller.  I suspect that there's some setting on the D-Link switch that's preventing the AP from seeing the controller.

When I try to join the ACS in location B to the same domain with the same account, it doesnt work.I looked at the debug log files for the ad client, and noticed, that the ACS in location B goes to a certain Domain Controller. However, I would have expected the ACS to contact another DC, which is located on  the same location as the ACS ... this doesnt happen.

My question:  How does the ACS determine what DC to contact ? Is it possible to force the AC to join by connecting a certain DC ?

Cisco Wireless :: 2x 1200 AP Directly On 2106 WLC?

Jun 9, 2012

I got my final assignment from school, and my teacher asked me to configure 2 Access Points (1200 series) directly on a Wireless Controler (Cisco 2106). I can't ask my teacher for any questions, cause he doesn't know how to configure it also, THAT's why he's asking me to do it.I've learned a lot of things about the default static interfaces (the "management" and "ap_manager" interface), but i can't seem to fully understand how to configure it.I want to use the Internal DHCP server of the WLC. How I can get those 2 Access Points working on the WLC. I only seem to get DHCP issues.

This is what i've done:

- Leave the configuration of the "management" and the "ap_manager" default (172.16.1.30 and 172.16.1.30). Bound to port 1

- Made a new interface "AP1" with IP-Address 10.0.0.10 (/24), default gateway 10.0.0.1. Primary DHCP server: 172.167.1.30

- Made a new interface "AP2" with IP-Address 192.168.1.10 (/24), default gateway 192.168.1.1. Primary DHCP server: 172.167.1.30

- Made 2 DHCP scopes within the 192.168.1.0 and 10.0.0.0 networks.

For some reason, when i boot up both AP's, the won't get any DHCP address.

In Wlans tab, i set my hotspot wlan, with no layer 2 security and for layer 3, i set none for layer 3 security and i use web policy authentication.I use local authentication and i created under security menu, under AAA tab, 3 local net users.

From pc number 1, i get ip from dhcp, and i have authentication web page, authentication is ok and i can surf on web.From pc number2, when user 1 from pc 1 is connected, i get ip from dhcp but i have not the authentication web page, i have not DNS resolution.when i try https:1.1.1.1/login.html, i have no answer.

And when user 1 is de-authenticated, the user 2 can surf on web.So only one user can surf at the same time. not good for a Hotspot.
