Cisco Wireless :: MTU 9216 - WLC 7.3 AP-SSO Not Working / Standby Unity In Maintenance Mode

Feb 13, 2013

I have two WLC version 7.3.101.0 with the standby unit having HA-SKU. I have tested the AP-SSO functionality without any problem in lab with direct connection on RP port between two WLC. Once I brought them into data centre in separate location (latency is less than 10ms between the two DC), the standby unity always went into maintenance mode. The booting process on standby unit went to maintenance mode as shown below:

Management Gateway and Peer Redundancy Management interface are not reachable.Entering maintenance mode.

I have checked on the core switches at 2 data centre that the two WLC RP ports are connected to same VLAN and it is spanned across MAN link (10GB and less than 10ms delay). The spanning tree on those ports are forwarding as well.I have rebooted the second unit but no luck. The interface between two DC is using MTU 9216 which I do not think would cause this issue.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 - Laptop Not Connected To Internet After Standby Mode

Jan 31, 2013

I am having a problem with an adapter, but I don't know if it's a router issue, adapter issue or software issue.

Router: E1500
Adapter: WUSB100
OS: Win XP Pro SP3
System: Dell Inspiron 9400

When the laptop has gone into standby and comes back out it is not connected to the internet or the 'secured side' of teh router. Instead, it asks for the 'guest side' password. When I try running Wireless Manager it goes through the entire process of 're-mating' adapter and router. That can't be right. How do I fix this so the system comes out of standby in the 'secured side' of the router?

Cisco :: ASA Standby Addresses In Multiple Context Mode?

Mar 18, 2011

I've got an ASA which has a number of contexts. They all share the same external interface, and in the interest of saving addresses I'm wondering if the standby address for each context is really necessary. I know that in active/passive the standby address is what allows the two to communicate and monitor that particular interface, however, in active/active I don't see the point as the context is either going to be on one or the other.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 9216 Changing MTU Size

Sep 23, 2012

I have VLAN X with MTU 9216 on Switch-A. I also have VLAN Y with MTU 9216 on Switch-B. But not their SVIs are MTU 9216.They are not communicating to each other on packet size of above 1500. This is because SVI VLAN X and SVI VLAN Y connect to each other  through SVI VLAN Z (Point-to-point Layer-3 connection between two switches).  Although SVI VLAN X and SVI VLAN Y communicate through SVI VLAN Z, this inter-link port is a trunk port carrying other VLANs but VLAN Z is a native vlan for which SVI VLAN Z is defined. In order to make it work.

1. Do I need to change SVI VLAN X and SVI VLAN Y to 9216?
2. Change MTU for VLAN Z and SVI VLAN Z to 9216?
3. DO I need to change MTU sizes for other VLANs that are on TRUNK port?

Cisco Firewall :: Sysopt Connection Tcpmss And MTU Of 9216?

May 8, 2012

We have a new ASA5585 as an internal firewall that will slowly replace our aging FWSM. For optimum performance it was adviced on the FWSM to set sysopt connection tcpmss to 0, even though using MTU of 1500.

On the new ASA are we now going to enable MTU of 9216 for the contexts. The ASA is running in transparent multicontext mode. I read this here:[URL] which advises against setting the tcpmss to 0. But if I understand it correct, that means that the MTU of 9216 is useless, right? So in our case it would be needed to turn of the tcpmss feature to actually use the higher MTU?

Cisco Wireless :: Bridge Mode Isn't Working Well - 2106 WLC

Mar 17, 2013

I'm using the 2106 in one environment with ROOT AP and MESH AP and when i put these in the Bridge mode, when one client connects to them it isn't working well, sometimes i can reach the client and sometimes not.

I tried it  with an Access Point that connect with the ROOT AP or MESH AP and will do an ethernet bridging with another wired client (camera), what happens is very strange because sometimes i can reach the bridge client and sometimes i can reach the Access Point that is doing the bridge. I can't access the two clients at the same time. In this situation i lose the images from camera when i have access to the Access Point and when i get the images from camera i lost access with the Access Point.

When i put the ROOT AP in the H-REAP mode Local Switching with AP 1142 or AP1552, the clients connects well and the bridge mode in the another access point works without problem, when i put the H-REAP in Central Switching i have the same problem.

I'm using in the 2106 WLC the version 7.0.240.0.

Cisco :: Get An ASA5510 Working In Transparent Mode?

Jun 29, 2011

I am trying to get an ASA5510 working in transparent mode, multi-context.  I am on revision 8.2.5, so there are no bridge groups (those are enabled in 8.4). I first set it to transparent mode, then set it to multi-context mode.  I am doing trunking through the Ethernet0/0 to Ethernet0/1, and have two vlans on subinterfaces of each interface.  These interfaces are in the 2nd and 3rd contexts, and all trunking between vlans is working correctly in transparent mode.

But I can't telnet or ssh to the ASA itself.

I have an IP address on the inside vlan interface in each context, and can ping tthe IP in context 2 and context 3.  There is an IP also in the admin context, but I am unable to ping this.  I have tried putting it in the same vlan as the 2nd context, and putting it on the management interface, but since there is a global IP only in transparent mode, I don't think the management interface is used (even though it is in the admin contexts included interfaces).

Since I can't connect to the ASA, I can't easily get the running config to post it here, even though that would likely

To summarize:

- transparent mode

- multi-context

- trunking (dot1q) through Eth0/0 and Eth0/1, so each interface has four sub-interfaces, each in its own vlan

- these VLANs are in each of the contexts except the admin context

- the IP of each conext is able to be pinged, but can't telnet or ssh to it

- telnet and ssh are setup for allowing a /16 subnet range access, in each context

- access-list is setup for permit ip any any and permit icmp any any on the inside and outside interface of each context

- all thru-traffic is passing correctly, but can't manage the ASA other than sitting at the console of it

What I'm going to try now is putting the admin context into one of the vlans in the trunk and see if I can use it that way.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA5505 Transparent Mode Not Working

Feb 19, 2013

I have a cisco ASA5505 configured in transparent mode. This evening we attempted to plug a couple of new servers in but they simply didnt work, despite our test server working absolutely fine. The server IP's are all in a network object group (the same as the test server) and they're all using the same ACLs etc. I'm relatively new to configuring cisco equipment.

the only thing I can think of is a static route I had to add to get the managemet IP to work might be causing problems.route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 XX.XXX.132.1 1(IP addresses obfuscated- servers are all in the same range so assume XX.XXX is the same across all IP's).

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Set Up In Dual Mode And Both WANs Are Working Properly

Dec 23, 2011

I have my RV042 set up in Dual WAN mode and both WANs are working properly.  I would like to configure WAN1 to handle all traffic, unless it fails and then have everything to go to WAN2.  Pretty much what Smart Link Backup does, however with that enabled only 1 of the WANs is live at any given time.  I'd like both WANs to always be live as I'm going to see the second one as a back-door into the network.  Is this possible to do with routing?  I tried setting a routing rule to have everything to go WAN1, but when WAN1 goes down, nothing is rounted via WAN2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 Sparse Mode Not Working Anymore

Apr 21, 2012

I have a very flat network.  All of the gateways/SVI's exist on the same 6500.  There are some vBrick IPTV servers that have a unicast address and 2-3 multicast addresses configured. After rebooting the 6500, the ip pim sparse-mode we had on all of our SVI's no longer work.  I checked the old config and everything is the same as before I rebooted it.  I troubleshot this for a while and found that the only way I can make this work now is if I enable ip sparse-dense on the SVI's.  I believe this means that dense is the multicast method being used and I don't want to use dense mode because of all the flooding.  How might I be able to make ip pim sparse-mode work again?  I never had a static RP configured but I think I will need to.  How do I decide on what ip address on the 6500 I should use as the RP?  Should the ip address of the RP be a loopback address on the 6500 or should it be the SVI gateway ip of the vlan that the vBrick IPTV servers are on?
