Port Forwarding For Telephone Tech To Do Remote Maintenance - Is It Safe

Jun 4, 2012

I just did small office transfer all their existing computers and equipment over to a new office site. They had new voice and data cables run, as well as patch panel and telephone and cable modem equipment set up in new office The private telephone tech requested that I port forward port 8000 to the telephone equipments' IP address He also requested that I provide the Office Static IP address to him My question is--am I opening this office's network up to any security risks by forwarding port 8000 to his telephone equipment's internal system IP address and providing him the actual Static IP address of the office Internet connection?

Port Forwarding Setup - Remote Directly Into One Of Servers?

Jan 19, 2012

I have a small network in my garage, it's basically made up of a bunch of test servers. Those and a win xp machine are all hooked up to a switch, and the win xp machine also has a wireless usb stick that is connected to my wireless router, and is being used to share internet to the rest of the machines. The test servers along with the NIC card on my win xp machine sit on a different subnet, however. When I remote into the win xp machine from my house, i can run a second remote desktop in the first session, into any of my servers. I want to do work on them, but its very laggy.

Is there a way I can setup a port either on the win xp machine or my wireless router so that i can remote directly into one of the servers? so if the win xp machine has a wireless ip address of 192.16.13.102, and one of the servers on the 2nd subnet has an internal ip of 192.2.2.4, can i have it so i can make, for instance, 192.16.13.102:6333 forward to 192.2.2.4? If not, is there any other way i can directly remote into one of the servers, by passing the first remote desktop into win xp? What settings would have to be the same across the line?

Cisco Routers :: RV 120W Port Forwarding And Remote Address

Mar 3, 2013

I have a RV120W; configured to perform port forwarding. I have Configured a Port Forwarding and Access Rule

* Sample Firewall: Access Rules:
Action        | Service | Status  | Connection Type                                | Source IP | Destination IP

[Code]....

Everything works, but in my destination server, i see as remote address the IP for the RV120W. I want it to forward also the originating IP address of the client (the remote address)

Is it possible to configure this?

I have also configured DMZ for my server, but see same behaviour

Firmware: 1.0.3.10

9666 Port-Forwarding For Click N Load Remote Usage

Mar 17, 2013

I've got JDownloader running on my HTPC and access it via VNC.The problem with Click'n'Load (CNL) is, JD only listens on localhost:9666 for incoming traffic, and the browser applications only send traffic to localhost:9666, so I can't use CNL with the VNC connection.I have to redirect my PC's localhost:9666 to the HTPC's localhost:9666

I've read up on SSH tunnels, but failed to set one up to work. I also know this could be done with iptables, but don't know how. Do you know a solution to make a connection between both local 9666 Ports? Traffic would have to be redirected from the PC listening on localhost:9666 to the HTPC, making it available at localhost:9666 and vice versa.

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - Port Forwarding To 2 Different Destinations Based On Incoming Wan Port

Apr 22, 2013

how to: port forwarding to 2 different destinations based on incoming WAN port

The default HTTP service works fine: TCP80/80-> 192.168.0.55

I have a couple of IP security camera's I'd like to be able to access remotely that also listen on port 80. I tried TCP & UDP 8009/8009-> 192.168.0.9 without any luck. Not sure how to handle the port redirects on the RV042G? Seems simple and was on the Symantec, could be user training :-)

I was able to do port redirect with the Symantec Firewall I'm replacing.

Cisco Firewall :: Change Default SSH Port On ASA 5505 (port Forwarding)

Dec 2, 2011

So here is my network.

ASA5505--->Cisco1841--->Cat2960
Code
ASA asa831-k8.bin
Cisco 1841 c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M2.bin
Cat 2960 c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin

and here is my dilemma.

I can SSH from the internet to my ASA on default port 22, directly to my public IP.  I can SSH from the internet to my Cisco 1841 on port 2001. I can not however, SSH to my Cat 2960.  From what i can tell, on the Cat2960 i can't change the default port 22 for SSH to different port, just like i did on the Cisco 1841.  I looked to see if I can change the default port for SSH on he ASA, it does not look like this is an option.

The bottom line is that i want to be able to SSH to all three devices from the internet.  I only have one public IP.  As of now, what i can do is only SSH to the ASA on default port 22 directly to the public IP and Cisco 1841 on port 2001.  It appears that changing the default SSH port on Cat 2960 is not an option.  It also appears that I can't change the default SSH port on the ASA, if i could, i would and then i should be able to SSH to the Cat 2960 on port 22. No matter what i did on the ASA, it always listens on port 22 for SSH connections.

show asp table socket
TCP       001f549f  <<pub IP>>:22              0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN

how do i make it listen on different port?

Here is relevent config for SSH for cisco 1841 (port forwarding)

D-Link DIR-655 :: Subsonic Port Forwarding / Get Machine - Port From Outside / Internet

Feb 16, 2011

I am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server.  Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening.  However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.

I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port.  The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range.  I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only.  I have updated firmware.  I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct.  What am I missing?  Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh).  Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?

(yes, I've STFA, but don't know what else to do).

Cisco :: Not Enough Port Fields In Port Forwarding For Linksys E4200

Jul 16, 2011

I have always used netgear routers in the past. After a series of issues regarding configurations not working correctly I invested in what appeared to be a semi pro router, the cisco linksys e4200.

I have a centralized server which I use to access a mass of different services such as mail, dns, VPN, FTP, Kerberos, http and many more. While I am not a massive networking ****, this server setup is like my garage project. To access these services externally to my LAN as far as I understand I would need to configure port forwarding for each service to my server. Unfortunately the control panel for the linksys E4200 only offers about 15 custom port fields for forwarding, and some documentation I have read shows that with it's basic install my server could be using up to 60 ports at once.

Is this router just not suitable for this sort of network. If so I will be very disappointed because I have spent a quarter of the price on netgear routers with more control than this.

Cisco :: Redirect Show Tech To Tftp On 3750

Mar 7, 2012

On my 2960, 3550, and 2801 equipment which all have IOS 12.2 or 12.3 I am able to obtain things like "show tech" and save it on a tftp server in this manner: ch3550#show tech | redirect tftp://192.168.18.18/techsupport.txt,This is because the | pipe has a bunch of options it refers to as output modifiers.HOWEVER, on my 3750, I am not able to do this. The list of output modifiers has changed, and "redirect" is not available. Consider the following: The 3750 unit I am working with is WS-C3750G-12S with IOS version 12.2(25)SEB2,Now, I know I can capture the show tech output via other means such as in the buffer of Putty.exe.

Dell :: Inspiron 1720 Lost Wireless Connection After Service Tech

May 9, 2012

Inspiron 1720 lost wireless connection after Service tech had me reboot Wireless router for other issue not relating to this computer. Now when I look for wireless connections can not find any. Hard wire works fine. Trouble shoot states there may be a problem with one or more of my network adapters. Not very computer savy....But did find a way to run a Ping test and pass. Clicked on my 1502 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini card and it states this device is working properly. Opened Broadcom control suite and it shows a Red X on the intergrated controller and the wireless card. with option to run a test or explanation of the Red X.

Do I need a new card  or is there something else conflicting with it.. I find it hard to believe the card crashed right when I rebooted the Router...ISP sent a tech out but was not able to find problem.

Internet Disconnects When Use The Telephone?

Sep 1, 2012

Our telephone point is downstairs in the lounge. We then have a long lead which we have run from the Eircom point in the lounge to upstairs into our son's room. This lead has a splitter on the end which is in our sons room. We have the Eircom modem connected to the splitter and to our sons computer, which is a Dell XPS 630 and which has no built in modem. The cordless telephone is connected to the other port on the splitter. The splitter has two ports one for telephone one for broadband. We also have another PC and two laptops. The second PC and the laptops are wireless.

The problem seems to happen when our son is in the middle of a game (he's a bit World of Warcraft gamer!) and I then use the phone and he loses the connection and then there's troublWe have had the line tested by our telephone/broadband provider and have tried connecting the telephone and the modem directly into the telephone point and we have been told there is no fault on the Eircom line. We only become aware of the problem when he's gaming and the phone is used

HP OfficeJet 7310 - Fax Without Telephone Line With FiOS?

Dec 23, 2010

I've got Verizon Triple Play. Basically, my Internet, TV and Phone all come into my house on a Fiber Optic line. Well, I take that back, I don't quite understand what the FiOS Phone really is or how the signaling works.

I have this All-in-One machine, the HP OfficeJet 7310 (link to product information). I hooked it up to my network (printer to router via Ethernet port) the other day and it works great with printing from all of my clients, well the printing does. I haven't tried the scanning portion, yet but I would assume it works just fine. What I didn't hook up, is a phone line to it. I wanted to know if there's a way to fax through my network, thus eliminating the need for a telephone connection. I figured there COULD be a way, if my Phone at some point came through the Fiber Optic.
