View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got Verizon Triple Play. Basically, my Internet, TV and Phone all come into my house on a Fiber Optic line. Well, I take that back, I don't quite understand what the FiOS Phone really is or how the signaling works.
I have this All-in-One machine, the HP OfficeJet 7310 (link to product information). I hooked it up to my network (printer to router via Ethernet port) the other day and it works great with printing from all of my clients, well the printing does. I haven't tried the scanning portion, yet but I would assume it works just fine. What I didn't hook up, is a phone line to it. I wanted to know if there's a way to fax through my network, thus eliminating the need for a telephone connection. I figured there COULD be a way, if my Phone at some point came through the Fiber Optic.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOur church has 1 phone line, we run BTBusiness Broadband at one of the building where we have a couple of charities based. We have the phone line connected to an extension at the other end (where the Church is) >80m away. Any way of running a second concurrent router on the extension so I can set up an office with a VOIP number, pC's printers etc there too? We use Devolo ethernet over mains and wireless for the main building, but the church itself is on a completely seperate mains power supply so I can't use that. I could run 100m Cat 5 and locate a switch on that, but any way of achieving something similar over the phone cable which is already in place.

I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. This problem started after the power went off and on quickly two times. I have followed all the instructions that I have found to reset the modem, but to no avail. Is it possible that the phone line jack needs to be replaced.I have a gateway laptop with Vista program.

The "no retrain. sleep 20 seconds" messages continue forever more until somebody power-cycles the router - which is a bit inconvenient as two are 300 miles away. Surprisingly, our event manager applet isn't triggering the reload either, which defeats the object.
I have a broadband router (Linksys E1000) which I've flashed with a DD-WRT firmware. After doing so I realized that this router doesn't have an interface for ADSL port(RJ-11). How can I use the Linksys E1000 for my home network?
I've heard that I can use ADSL modem(not a router) & plug the RJ-11 to it & take from it the Ethernet & plug it back to the E1000(in the WAN port) would that mean that I can get just a modem and not a hybrid?
Note: Also, I have to mention that my ISP is using PPPoA & DD-WRT is not supporting it, but i googled & they said that the ADSL modem cab be the rescue. Can I pick any ADSL modem for this specific scenario or am I looking at a specific model?
Secondly, can I use my old router to do the job instead of buying a new ADSL modem ? & is it a good approach ? or should i buy a new ADSL modem ?
Update i turned my DD-WRT router(E1000) to act as access point, since this is the only way that i can use it with the DD-WRT feature. & i think this is better than have nothing :) I can now have the DD-WRT functions ;)
ADSL line do not activate. Telco Confirmed Like is Okay . They have tested no issue observed. Router replaced but did not work. Supspecting Firmware not compatible with telco . Not sure how to confirm on this.

Site A, site B, site C, site D is connected using leased line each other. We are using Cisco 1800, 2800 and 2900. Each site also have Internet connection using ADSL connected to firewall, we are using pix 501 and ASA 5510.My question is, can i use the existing ADSL line to be use as a backup line if the leased line is down on any of the site??
And i want it to trigger itself, once the leased line is down, the firewall UP the backup line? something like that..
I have ADSL router Linksys X3000, but I have an issue with it. I have configured it properly (based on internet provider's manual), repeatedly checked it, but router still says that ADSL line is down. I have also another router from Zyxel and it works perfect with same wire and configuration, so I guess the line is fine.

Is there a way to find in a remote branch the adsl line number in a cisco router 886VA.
When giving show controllers vdsl 0

I do have a question, is WIC-1SHDSL-V3 able to support ADSL line?
We have WIC-1SHDSL-V3 module used for SDSL line, due to few site need to bring up with ADSL line with 1841 model, but HWIC-1ADSL module already EOS. The replacement model EHWIC-VA-DSL-A is not compatible to 1841. My architect suggest Symmetric Module like WIC-1SHDSL-V3 could be able to tweak the config to support Asymmetric purpose. I did google but do not found such related topic. Can any expert on this area to advice me?
On my old router I could access the line stats on the home page giving me Attenuation and SNR margin, this allowed me to keep an eye on line quality, there seems to be no equivalent info on the X2000. Is this on a hidden page like the advanced wireless page.

Within a property without an available adsl line I'm simply trying to network a wireless laptop with a wireless printer. View 9 Replies View RelatedIs the ADSL line interface on Cisco 877W not initialising a known issue? This interface on my router has been in this state for more than one month, with the rest of the router seemingly operational. The interface was connected directly to my ADSL broadband and worked well for two years. But then, about a month ago, the interface went down. I saw the exact moment this happened recorded as a syslog message. The only information was that the interface status had changed to down.
Initially I thought this was a matter of reload the router and all will be well. Did not happen. Then I thought my broadband connection was to blame. However, this option was quickly ruled out. So I went on to exhaust all troubleshooting options, including reflashing the router with the saved image and totally changing the configuration. Still no change. I have had to go back to my old BT home hub for internet access. In terms of speed this actually works a lot better than the Cisco router. But I would still rather have the router connected to my broadband line. What can I do to bring the ADSL interface back to life?
We have a remote site connected to ADSL line with a Cisco 887VA router attached. This has been working fine for the last couple of months. However, recently, the site have started to complain of performance issues (network slow, applications disconnecting, etc)Looking on the router, we can see evidence of packet loss/timeouts from a simple ping to the internet e.g. [code]
However, we have logged the fault with our service provider and they return all line tests as clear but what is particularly strange is that they also report “and the SNR Margins are well within threshold levels (Upstream 11.5 and Downstream 15.0)” which, unless I’m misunderstanding something, seems to be completely different from what the router itself is reporting. Is there a reason why the service provider’s stats for Noise Margin would appear to be so different from what the router is reporting?
I've moved a Cisco 887 router from a site where it was used to dial up on an ADSL line to a new site where we have a EFM circuit which terminates at a Cisco 1841 router managed by our ISP. I therefore need to re-configure our 887 router to work as a conduit from our servers back to the Cisco 1841 as its gateway.
I have asked from our ISP and they told me that i need to configure the 887 to use IP address 176.35.140.65 255.255.255.248 and its gateway should be 176.35.140.70. That's great advice in theory but I don't know how to configure this correctly
Our internal network is using subnet 192.168.42.XX which will need to be retained for local devices.

I bought a new router last night in an attempt to fix some internet issues. I replaced my old router (an N150 lynksis) with the one I bought (an N300 netgear) and after getting all the wires connected, my computer wouldn't connect to the internet and it wouldnt recognize the router as anything other than "Unidentified Network". I've tried reseting and power cycling the modem, shuting down the computer, even some random tips from the internet but nothing seems to be working.

I was able to install the FQDN.crt using the guide here: url... but that doesn't talk about installing chained certificates at all.
I have seen some guides talking about how to do this with ASA devices but it seems those don't apply to the ISA. This is mostly because there is no CLI with the ISA (as there is with the ASA) and also I don't see way to import/export private SSL keys from/to the ISA.
