Cisco Wireless :: Redirect To Web Authentication WLC 2504
Apr 4, 2013
We have a WLC 2504, since a few months, it was working fine, we have a guest Wlan configure with web authentication and the DHCP scope for this in the WLC. The problem today is that its no redirecting the web browser to 1.1.1.1, we try it with 3 laptops and they recieve a correct IP from the DHCP but still can not get redirect to the web authentication portal. Have the default configuration Internal (Default).
In laptops we check the firewall, dont have a proxy activate and have google DNS.. 4.2.2.2 8.8.8.8. In fact this laptops connected to this ssid before.
I have a 2504 and my goal is to automatically redirect a users home page when they connect to a certain internal website. Authentication isn't a real concern just now.
Is it possible to simply have a users home page redirected when they open their browser upon connecting to the SSID? All of the documents available have stated to use 802.1x / RADIUS or other fancy tools.
I have a problem with a customer of mine. We have deployed two new WLC5508 running r7.0.116.0 and AP1142s, also WCS with r7.0.172. When we setup a "Guest Access" we ran into trouble. The problem is that we can associate to the SSID/AP and get an ip-adress. When we open the web- browser we do not get redirected to the virtual interface but instead the _hostname_ of the WLC. Like this: url...
I we manually replace "cisco6a19c4" with 1.1.1.1 it works as it should, the login page appears, we login and can access the internet. We have tested and disabled web-auth on the ssid an everything works, we can directly go out on the internet, DNS works without any problems. [code]Guest network (VLAN) is transfered from WLC via the trunk to the Cat4503 and then connected on a access-port to a separate broadband-router, then to the inetrnet.DHCP to guest-users from separate broadband-router which is def gwy and "DNS".On the virtual interfaces no hostname is configured.
I have a cisco 2504 running 7.0.220.0. I am trying to configure Web Auth for External Redirect, Passthrough. I have a page created on an external web server that was taken from the Web Auth Bundle and modified. It is a simple "accept" or "reject" on a Terms and Conditions page. I have a Pre-Auth ACL configured to only allow communication to the server the T&C page resides on.
When I connect to the SSID, the page redirects to the external URL and the the URL shows up in the browser window with all the variable data as a GET on the URL line, but the page never loads. It just hangs. I can copy the the URL data, paste that in once I am on-net, and the page loads just fine.
So, something is happening when the WLC is attempting to proxy-redirect the page back to the client.
I configured the 2504 with 2 SSIDs for staffs and guests.I also configured the Lobby admin with web auth. But if a guest wants to connect our wireless he/she has to enter the PSK key and then only they are able to connect with the user id and password given by Lobby admin. Can we avoid this key and let the guests connect straightaway with the web auth?I’m planning to configure 802.1x & Radius dual authentication for staffs SSID..
I have 2504 WLC with a few access points. the problem is when the PC's go in sleep mode, the users have to re-authenticate when they log in again Is there any way to let the PC's automatically re-authenticate without the user having to type in the credentials again?I have web authentication configured for this SSID and authentication is using the WLC local Data base.
When I get the web authentication dialog from 1.1.1.1 it starts of with a certificate error. Is there a way to prevent this certificate error while using the self signed certificate? I have not been successful installing certificates on my WLC - problems with OpenSSL and others. Want to get this deployed but don't want users to have to encouter that error.
I have cisco 2504 WLAN controller with 7.4 IOS. My query is can I configure the MAC authentication with certificate based. And without using any external servers like Radius, ACS and LDAP.
We are planning to implement Cisco wireless in our central office and branch office using Cisco 2504 WLC and Cisco 1602i Ap. Our branch office is connected via ip vpn and a separate broadband connection for urgent requirements. Usually all users are allowed to browse through central proxy server.I have been trying to find any possibility of giving guest access (web authentication) for branch office guests utilizing only the broadband connection which is connected to the branch office. Is there a possibility that Central WLC is reached using NAT from the BranchOffice AP and allowing guests to authenticate and surf the web at times IP VPN is unreachable.
Can the 2504 WLC be configured to work with one RADIUS Server for Authentication of Management Users and with a second server for 802.1x EAP-TLS certificate authentication for the end users.
Management Users will authenticate on RADIUS Server 1.Wireless End users will request 802.1x EAP-TLS authentication certificate from AAA server 2.
I have Cisco WLC 2504.I was configured one wlan with external web-authentication.External web server is apache on freebsd. When user connect to wlan and open web browser, wlc redirects client to external web page, where client must input hist credentials. When client click "submit" button on external web auth page, wlc initiates RADIUS request to radius server.Radius server(freeradius) is on the same server, where apache running.
sometimes, when client enter credentials on external page and click "submit" button, wlc suddenly redirect client on internal default auth page.
I upgraded the firmware on my wap121 and the URL redirect option is now gone. The docs all talk about using Captive portal but that is only on a wap321. How can I get the redirect back so customers who connect to my network see the site for our bar before they go on the internet?
I upgraded from the 1.0.0.3 to the latest (1.0.2.3)
Another problem with WAP321 access point. I set up the captive portal for guest access. Connexion is going well, I got IP adress, but then, I open my webrowser to authentificate on the captive portal, and I get a nice "404 not found / file not found" page. If I put the IP adress of the access point in my webrowser, I can get the captive portal homepage. Why the redirection is not working automatically
I want to setup my wap321 to not go to the Captive potal login page ,I want everyone to be authenticated automatically. I just want them to be redirected to my home page the first time they try and visit any page.i have the CP setup but I dont see any way to not request a user page and just redirect.I am using the latest firmware.
Not sure if I am using the correct terminology in my title. Basically, I want to use a service like unblock-us.com or tunlr.net so I can access US Netflix content here in Canada.
These 2 services give you ip addresses to enter for your primary and secondary dns servers.
I would like to make it so only traffic going to netlix makes use of the unblock-us.com dns servers. I know this can be done by installing dd-wrt and then using dnsmasq, but I would rather not have to go that route if can be done with native firmware.
If cannot be done 'out of the box' any other way to do without having to change firmwares?
I have an open SSID on 5508 controllers - configured as anchors and need to redirect wireless clients to the wireless help page automatically once they have connected and opened their browser.I've read all through the web auth and pass through discussions on here but nothing seems to be quiet right for me - unless I am completely missing something.
I've got a HTTP Redirect to a dedicated html site with our internet usage policy set up on multiple WAP4410N access points. This is working like a charm with laptops, but not with internet radios. They can't connect to the internet probably freezing on the http redirected site.Is there any way to exclude these devices from the redirect?
There is an ASR1006 Router in the network that serves as an Intelligent Service Gateway (ISG). Subscribers are layer 2 connected and subscriber sessions are initiated on a DHCP request. ISG is configured as a DHCP relay agent. Wi-Fi clients connect to the WLAN using Open SSID and are being redirected to a Web Portal where they enter their login info. This info is sent to RADIUS server which checks if the user is allowed to use Internet service. All the APs are connected o WLC using CAPWAP. The question is the following: there is a requirement to track from which AP a particular Wi-Fi clients is connected. In this case ISG needs somehow to obtain AP’s mac address and send it to the Radius server (probably using attribute 30 – Called-station-id). One possible way for ISG to obtain AP’s mac is via WLC. But the thing is that when WLC is configured as DHCP proxy and Option 82 is set, a wireless client does not obtain IP address via DHCP. In this particular case there two DHCP relay/proxy in the network path between client and DHCP server. Is there any other away for ISG to obtain AP’s mac address?
I have a 5508 WLC running 6.0.202.0. It functions as the Anchor Controller for the guest network. It sits in our Internet DMZ and is isolated from the rest of the network. It does not connect to AD, ACS, etc. The guest wireless WLAN is configured for Web Policy - Authentication. I have a customized login page. Credential management is done by WCS.
Users are connecting to the guest wireless network and entering their creds with no issues using mobile devices (iPad, etc). Then the mobile device goes to sleep / turns off and when they go to use it again, they have to type their creds in again. They dont like retyping their creds throughout the day.
good way mitigate the multiple logins? Something like a 'save password' option on the customized page?
I'm planning to upgrade our WLC 2504 from 7.2.111.3 to 7.4.100.0 but the cisco site says "WLC Version 7.4.100.0 will need Prime Infrastructure Version 1.3 to be managed, Version 1.3 is not yet available to download at this point of time" Is it something about NCS? we have only 1 cisco WLC 2504 and 6 1142APs.. Also let me know is it possible to go directly from 7.2 to 7.4 ?
I've problem with a WLC 2504. Some Clients like phones and Thin Clients get an IP 0.0.0.0.Software Version is 7.0.235.0. Test with a Laptop seams to be OK. Some printers also got an 0.0.0.0.Around 30% are not OK. also had the log: Impersonation of AP with Base Radio MAC 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yyusing source address of 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx has been detected by the AP with MAC Address: 00:yy:yy:yy:yy:yy on its 802.11b/g radio whose slot ID is 0 The problem is, I cannot go to 7.2 version because I have 2 x AP 1231 and 2 x 1242 AP's.1231 AP's are not anymore supported in 7.2 Version.
I have two WLC 2504 controllers. These controllers are for two different buildings. But they share a VLAN, and network address range. How can I control the access points to the register selected only at a specific controller.
Example:
AP 1 -> WLC 1 AP 2 -> WLC 2 AP 3 -> WLC 1
Since the buildings also broadcast in different SSID. The two controllers are in a mobility group.
Some time ago I updated a WLC, model 2504, from version 7.3 to 7.4.100.0. I also update the FUS (Field Upgrade Software) to the latest release, 1.8.0.0. Now I need to downgrade the WLC back to 7.3 version.
My doubt is: Can I just take the normal processes and downgrade the WLC back to 7.3, even with the FUS in version 1.8.0.0?
I'm new in installing WIFI, I have WLC 2504 using 7.4.100.0. I have AP 1600 (AIR-CAP1602E-E-K9)
I installed the WLC and AP in a cisco poe switch, wlc and ap are in the same subnet and can ping ap from WLC, but the AP cannot join the wlc. i have this error message
(Cisco Controller) >show ap join stats detailed 00:06:f6:d6:03:f0
