View 1 RepliesI have a wlc 5508 running version 7.0.116.0 that I need to uppgrade to use the CAP2602I AP. I understand that I need to upgrade it to version 7.0.240 before 7.4.100 to avoid loosing HREAP VLAN mappings, and I have also read that i need to install the FUS image [URL]. In what order should this be done? Shlod the FUS image be installed before new firmware ore after firmware or after 7.0.240 but before 7.4?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade an autonomous IOS 1242 AP to LWAPP and I am having an issue with finding the right code to complete the upgrade. I have upgraded the AP to c1240-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.ja2.tar, but now I think I need a JX version of code to have it join a controller, and I can't find this anywhere on the Cisco site.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe're in the process of upgrading our Wireless AP's from autonomus to LWAP. We're doing the upgrades remotely (we have 100's of sites to do, and it's not possible to be there to console on to each one), using a local computer to upgrade them to LWAP's with the Cisco Upgrade Tool.Having some inconsistent bugs pop up though from time to time. The most common one is that it basically buggers up the IP address after applying the recovery firmware image. It's supposed to keep the IP it had according to the IPFile.txt (for example 172.25.25.4), but it does something very weird... it keeps the last two octets (so 25.4 from the e.g) but replaces the first two octets with a 192.168 address. So the final address in this example after the UpgradeTool has done its work, is 192.168.25.4 - which is compeltely wrong.
This causes it to be unable to talk to the WLC (obviously, with bogus IP information it will struggle), and gives us big problems in that it wont ever come up unless someone can console to the AP and fix it. We can usually resolve the issue by munging about on the switch - switching the port it's connected to between access and trunk and doing some shut/noshut cycles seems to do the trick mostly.
Any instructions on performing an upgrade from a 4402 to 5508?

I use it to connect my i Pad, iPhone, Mac Book, and XBOX 360 (wired). My question is should I just leave it as is or will I see any performance gain on upgrading my wireless home router? I eventually would like to get 6-10 IP wired cameras for home CCTV system.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe've been getting broadband through a WRT54G v2.2 router into numerous computers with WUSB54G v4 wireless adapters into winXP PC's for years now, but I've recently got a 64bit Win7 PC which needs internet connection. I spent all day today trying to find drivers, workarounds and god knows what for the WUSB54G v4 which (I'm pretty sure now ) don't exist for a 64bit system.
How do I get internet into this Windows 7 PC? Will I just need to get a new adapter? (and will it be compatible with the current router?) I don't especially want to get a new router and several new adapters just because we have one new Win7 PC... If I do just need to get a new adapter, in terms of performance/compatibility?
Oh, and how ancient is the hardware we actually have, and does/will it effect the internet in any way?
I currently have an old Linksys WRT160n.How does upgrading to the EA3500 benefit me? How does this differ than my current router which is still wireless N? I know it is Dual band but does that really matter? If my ISP provides me with 10 Mbps does it really matter what router I go with? How exactly does it speed up gaming/netflix/etc?

I have a two year old Dell, an XPS Q740 (from the system info) Intel i7 CPU. Works fine but I've recently upgraded my router to an N standard with dual channels operating at 2.4ghz and 5ghz, so I'd like to improve the the network options for my machine. Looking at the device manager, it says I'm using an Intel WiFi link BGN 1000 which operates at 2.4ghz.
What card if any I can install to bring about a speed improvement. Fiber broadband is also due in my area soon so I want to take advantage of this.
We have a centralized Cisco 5508 WLC with 84 APs(1142N) in branches (slow WAN links), Current WLC IOS version is 7.0.220.0.Recently we bought new Aps Air CAP36021-N. These APs are not compatible with existing WLC IOS. If I upgrade WLC, then can I stop propagating newer firmware for old Aps? Because it kills all WAN.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to a E3000 from a WRT54G and I am having some issues with network speed.I have no special settings and have even tried restoring factory defaults and upgrading to the latest firmware to no avail. The time I notice the biggest hit is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).Let me note that I do know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and the like.I have Comcast 20Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s Up (just a FYI, the main issue is local transfers)
With default settings my Laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router at only 65Mb/s (with full signal).Upload seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (Transferring files from wireless n laptop to the gigabit desktop).Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (Copying files from the wired gigabit desktop to the wireless n laptop). These speeds are horrible! ~5hrs to transfer 3GB of data!
One of my laptops had a card that was capable of both 2.4 & 5Ghz and I was previously getting ~2000-5000KB/s (2-5MB/s) transfers with this router (But I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to only work with 2.4Ghz though. If I change the 2.4Gh Wireless settings on the router to "Auto(20MHz or 40MHz)" the laptop will connect at 150Mb/s, but the speeds are the same slow speeds as above.
upgrading from our current WCS version to 7.0.230.0 (not going for NCS at the moment).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade my WCS from 7.0.164.0 to 7.0.172.0 but it keeps throwing me into the manual process because it detects multiple versions. Seems a previous upgrade from 6.0.132 to 7.0.164 did dot remove the 6.0.132 directory or files.
Am I safe to delete the 6.0.132 directory/files and trying again?
I need to upgrade our Wireless Lan Controller to support new APs. I was able to get the new code due to a security advisory on the code we are running now. I am upgrading from 6.0.196.0 to 7.0.220.0 (MD). I have read in some of the technical docs that the WCS has to match the WLC. I cannot find any documentation as to what this entails on the WCS.
WCS version is 6.0.132.0 running on Windows.
What are the prerequisites before doing this? I have to upgrade a router this week if there is an opportunity to move it to a code that is more current that the one the client is currently running which is 12.2(33)SRD4. I see on the Cisco Support site that after this code, everything moves to 15.

I would like to upgrade the controllers to 4.2.209 as our 1020 APs will not be supported by any later version, I think. And, I would like to upgrade our WCS to 6.0.181.0 so it's ready for when we upgrade our controllers to 6.x.x.x after we get some APs that can support it. Is the 6.0.181.0 on the WCS going to give me any problems monitoring or administering the controlllers if they are only 4.2.209?
The Cisco WCS release must be the same or more recent than the controller software release. Upgrade the Cisco WCS first to prevent any unexpected problems. Cisco WCS supports database upgrades only from the following official Cisco WCS releases: [code]

From what I currently understand, I can upgrade directly to the 7.0.230.0 firmware from my current 4.2.176.0, then I should upgrade to the latest bootloader image. But I have also seen posts where I should update the bootloader software to the latest version, then put on the latest firmware.
I have seen conflicting reports where I must step through each bootloader version, 4.x to 5.x to 6.x to 7.x to make sure I have all the fixes, but I have also seen instructions, where you can jump to the very latest and the fixes are cumulative.
