We have a centralized Cisco 5508 WLC with 84 APs(1142N) in branches (slow WAN links), Current WLC IOS version is 7.0.220.0.Recently we bought new Aps Air CAP36021-N. These APs are not compatible with existing WLC IOS. If I upgrade WLC, then can I stop propagating newer firmware for old Aps? Because it kills all WAN.

I have a wlc 5508 running version 7.0.116.0 that I need to uppgrade to use the CAP2602I AP. I understand that I need to upgrade it to version 7.0.240 before 7.4.100 to avoid loosing HREAP VLAN mappings, and I have also read that i need to install the FUS image [URL]. In what order should this be done? Shlod the FUS image be installed before new firmware ore after firmware or after 7.0.240 but before 7.4?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to a E3000 from a WRT54G and I am having some issues with network speed.I have no special settings and have even tried restoring factory defaults and upgrading to the latest firmware to no avail.The time I notice the biggest hit is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).Let me note that I do know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and the like.I have Comcast 20Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s Up (just a FYI, the main issue is local transfers)
With default settings my Laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router at only 65Mb/s (with full signal).Upload seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (Transferring files from wireless n laptop to the gigabit desktop).Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (Copying files from the wired gigabit desktop to the wireless n laptop).These speeds are horrible! ~5hrs to transfer 3GB of data!
One of my laptops had a card that was capable of both 2.4 & 5Ghz and I was previously getting ~2000-5000KB/s (2-5MB/s) transfers with this router (But I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to only work with 2.4Ghz though. If I change the 2.4Gh Wireless settings on the router to "Auto(20MHz or 40MHz)" the laptop will connect at 150Mb/s, but the speeds are the same slow speeds as above.
We are about to upgrade Cisco Load Balancer CSS 11501 firmware from current ver, 8.10.4.01 to 8.10.6.02,this is a production line device (a running 24x7 network), upgrading will create unpredictable results even worst the network will go down.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a strange problem here after upgrading Cisco 3750X.The upgrading was going smoothly, I copied a newer IOS to the flash from another Cisco 3750X through TFTP, changed the boot image.It took a while do to the microcode upgrading, finally, it started to boot up. But when it completes the boot up, I can't see the normal login prompt, but only some strange codes. From what I can see, it seems some decoding problem, as if I plug or unplug a cable from the switch, the strange code pops up again, like in normal situation, the console tells you that the interface is going up and down.

However, I don't have any problem to telnet to this switch, as it has correct IP address and login configured before the upgrading. I've just attempted to uprade the firmware on my WAG325N from 1.0.6 to 1.0.12 the latest, over wireless. It will not work with Ethernet. It started to upgrade and failed with a garbled screen in my browser. No message to reset. Tried a complete reset several times. Pressing reset, power off for 30 secs. When I attempt to connect wirelessly with browser, just get a garbled screen, with no menus.

I accessed the interface via Safari browser, followed the instructions, got a message saying not to interrupt the process, but it never completed. So I tried it again (downloaded another copy of the firmware update), and same thing. No choice but to interrupt it. My internet connection seems to be working fine, but now I can't access the router via the browser. I don't think the firmware actually updated.
Should I power down the router and then reset it?
I currently have this router in use with verizon dsl (PPPoe) setup.I have this set to "always on". Since the verizon modem, which is also router has been set into bridge mode and the d-link came into play its been extremely slow, and dropping connection. The router is in a separate IP class, and has no conflict with the modem. My question is, if I upgrade this firmware from 1.0 to 1.02 will it default to factory settings? I know it says only some will. I do have the backup config file, but i would be doing this remotely, and would not be able to get to this router if it goes down. Has anyone gone from 1.0 to 1.2 and saw a difference and speed, and are you able to do this without losing settings.

Error: The image in the archive which would to used to upgade system number 2 does not support that system type.I haven't as yet removed the "3750G-24TS" switch from the stack and re-tried as yet, however, is the expectation that without the 24TS, the upgrade should work?
I was using Remote Desktop between two home computers hard wired through the router and a switch. Now after upgrading to firmware 1.35 I can't get remote desktop to connect. Firmware updates have been released for 7.0,7.2,7.3 and 7.4 trains to resolve the fault, however there hasn't been a release for 7.1. Any update for the 7.1 firmware to address bug ID CSCua29504?
I have 2 NEXUS switches in VPC. When I create/delete a VLAN gets updated in the same switch, but the VLAN information does not get propagated to the neighboring switch. Revision number remains the same even if I modify the VLAN. Had also tried changing the VTP status to transparent mode & reverting it to client mode but no luck.Have double confirmed on the VTP domain names & password. However the same setup in different location which works perfectly fine.

trying to upgrade home network and found a dual-band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz router. Appears that none of out newer Toshiba laptops and neither of our brand new Asus laptops recognize the 5Ghz network sitgnal. Only PC in entire house that sees the 5Ghz signal is the old PC in the house running Win XP.

The bulk of our AP's are 1131's, however we are now ordering and using 1142's and 3602's. We just added the 5500 controllers in preperation for a large deployment of 1142's. What I would like to do is have the system setup so that the the 1142's will default to the 5500 controllers. Since the wism and 4400 wont support the 3602's its not really an issue for them. I'm trying to find the best way to accomplish this. I've already heard one suggestion of manually going through and setting all the AP's to a primary and secondary controller but I was hoping to find a way to have the system do this for me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing a problem with my existing 3845's that may mean I may have to upgrade to a newer faster platform.Currently I have ISP links to 2 providers and run BGP. Each ISP link plugs into a separate 3845 NM-1GE fiber port. Both links are 100Mb ethernet handoff. There is an average of 50 - 60Mbps traversing each link during peak times. I am experiencing a large number of Input errors on both ISP links almost all of the errors are ignored. I opened a TAC case and I'm told that the 3845 can not handle this much traffic along with an ACL on the ISP interface and BGP. TAC engineer tells me that the RX ring of the interface is being overrun and tuning buffers will not make any difference. CPU util never goes above 25%.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have run into a problem replacing an old Linksys BEFVP41 with a SA520. The BEFVP41 had an address on the LAN defined as a DMZ. That address was another router. It is in the same subnet as the local LAN and I am not sure what ports it uses. It is controlled by an outside group and requires much delay and paperwork to change the address. The new SA520 will only support a DMZ if it is in a different subnet than the LAN. Any way to simulate the old DMZ function on the newer router? I have not yet been able to obtain a list of all ports that should go to the second router. Didn't know if there was a way to forward all ports like the old BEFVP41 does by setting a DMZ address.
