I've got a used WS-SVC-FWM-1-K9 on the way and I'd like to standardize it to the Firewall Module Software Version 4.0. I'm not positive if the current software on it is newer or older than Version 4.0. Is this possible to perform or is the Software as is on these modules?

The current version is 1.0.0.12 an need to load the latest (or at least 1.1) to get CDP etc. However when I use the upgrade option in the switch I get an error of.Firmware Image download through HTTP failed. Wrong File Type.I have tried 3 different versions of the firmware and get the same error message each time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a strange problem here after upgrading Cisco 3750X.The upgrading was going smoothly, I copied a newer IOS to the flash from another Cisco 3750X through TFTP, changed the boot image.It took a while do to the microcode upgrading, finally, it started to boot up. But when it completes the boot up, I can't see the normal login prompt, but only some strange codes. From what I can see, it seems some decoding problem, as if I plug or unplug a cable from the switch, the strange code pops up again, like in normal situation, the console tells you that the interface is going up and down.

However, I don't have any problem to telnet to this switch, as it has correct IP address and login configured before the upgrading. I've just attempted to uprade the firmware on my WAG325N from 1.0.6 to 1.0.12 the latest, over wireless. It will not work with Ethernet. It started to upgrade and failed with a garbled screen in my browser. No message to reset. Tried a complete reset several times. Pressing reset, power off for 30 secs. When I attempt to connect wirelessly with browser, just get a garbled screen, with no menus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my BEFSR81 v3 cable router (firmware version 2.45.xxx) on a Mac. I accessed the interface via Safari browser, followed the instructions, got a message saying not to interrupt the process, but it never completed. So I tried it again (downloaded another copy of the firmware update), and same thing. No choice but to interrupt it. My internet connection seems to be working fine, but now I can't access the router via the browser. I don't think the firmware actually updated.
Should I power down the router and then reset it?
I currently have this router in use with verizon dsl (PPPoe) setup.I have this set to "always on". Since the verizon modem, which is also router has been set into bridge mode and the d-link came into play its been extremely slow, and dropping connection. The router is in a separate IP class, and has no conflict with the modem. My question is, if I upgrade this firmware from 1.0 to 1.02 will it default to factory settings? I know it says only some will. I do have the backup config file, but i would be doing this remotely, and would not be able to get to this router if it goes down. Has anyone gone from 1.0 to 1.2 and saw a difference and speed, and are you able to do this without losing settings.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to a E3000 from a WRT54G and I am having some issues with network speed.I have no special settings and have even tried restoring factory defaults and upgrading to the latest firmware to no avail.The time I notice the biggest hit is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).Let me note that I do know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and the like.I have Comcast 20Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s Up (just a FYI, the main issue is local transfers)
With default settings my Laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router at only 65Mb/s (with full signal).Upload seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (Transferring files from wireless n laptop to the gigabit desktop).Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (Copying files from the wired gigabit desktop to the wireless n laptop).These speeds are horrible! ~5hrs to transfer 3GB of data!
One of my laptops had a card that was capable of both 2.4 & 5Ghz and I was previously getting ~2000-5000KB/s (2-5MB/s) transfers with this router (But I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to only work with 2.4Ghz though. If I change the 2.4Gh Wireless settings on the router to "Auto(20MHz or 40MHz)" the laptop will connect at 150Mb/s, but the speeds are the same slow speeds as above.
I've just gotten in two new 5508 controllers that have come preinstalled with code version 7.0.116.0. My issue is that when I go to downgrade these to 7.0.98.218 I get an error after the Image version check is passed stating the following:ERROR: Incompatible SW image. ERROR: Please install the Data Payload Encryption licensed image.I've tried multiple times to no avail, I've also gone as far as installing the LDPE image of 7.0.116.0 thinking it needed that before downgrading but it still didn't work.

How do I get the older version of IOS to load up?
We are in the middle of upgrading from two PIX's to some new ASA5512X's. To give you some background on the situation we are upgrading these since the PIXs are fairly old. We had one extra that we had to use since one PIX has failed already. The guy that implemented the PIXs orginally was learning how to do so as he went so there is alot of needless config in the PIX, atleast from what I can tell. Another guy that works with me has done some configuration on the new ASAs and has done the majority of it so far. Today we went to install the new ASAs and switch everything over hoping it would work, but that didn't happen. It seems that there is something wrong with our NAT and ACLs somewhere along the lines. The way our network is laid out is that we have two school campus with a site-to-site VPN one is 172.17.0.0/16 and the other is 172.18.0.0/16. We also have a remote-access VPN on both ASA's. When we connected the new ASAs up and brought up the interfaces, nothing on the inside could ping the internet nor the other side. The VPN showed active on the ASA's and each ASA could ping the others outside interface, but that was it. I have posted the configs below.

I are currently implementing a new patching schedule (when I say new i mean a company first!!!) and I have identified that the firewalls are all running 8.2(2). I would like to bring these up to the latest version but am a little worried about impact!!! I have setup a test firewall with the config from our live asa's and run the upgrade but have received multiple lines.

I have been asked if it is worth upgrading to 8.4 from 8.2. There is nothing wrong with our current firmware and if it isn't broken then why change strings to mind, but I also dont wnat to be left behind.
I've upgraded the firmware on the ASA's before, but they have been pretty simple. I do the standby ASA first and wait for it to come up, then do the other. However I think 8.3 and 8.4 are big jumps and have issues with NAT (we have a lot of NAT's and NAT exempts). I have had a quick read of 8.4's document, but has actually upgraded from 8.2 to 8.4?
I'm in the process of upgrading our ASA 5520's from 8.2 to 8.4. I have sufficient memory installed and have read many posts in this forum on different upgrade strategies. I have an active/standy configuration and have settled on upgrading the standy unit from 8.2 to 8.3 then to 8.4, fixing any errors, testing traffic and then upgrading the primary unit to the latest rev. I've read where active/standy mismatching is supported but for a short period. My question is how long will I be able to run two boxes with different software? Unfortunately I don't have the option of doing this off line in a lab.

Apparently I need a service account? I'm looking at Cisco software download page and searching ASDM which then brings up links to two pages which are ASA and ASDM.
I was trying to upgrade an ASA to from 8.2.4 to 8.4.4, and I began receiving the following migration errors (the IP addresses have been changed to protect the innocent):
ERROR: MIGRATION: The following ACE is partially/not migrated to Real IP, as it could result in more permissive policy. Please manually migrate this ACE. permit esp host 1.1.1.1 host 2.2.2.2
I got a TON of these, in fact the migration, and these errors ran for over 24 hours before I gave up, powercycled the unit and forced 8.2.4 to boot through ROMMON. This was a secondary unit, that's why I let it go this long.
What I don't understand is that we do not have anything in the configuration for ESP.

1.)As far as I understand this means RA users and peer2peer combined?
2.)I need additional RA clients to be able to connect in at any time, as far as I know there is no way to allow more IPSEC clients then this due to hardware limitations?
3.)If I go for the Anyconnect option (10 users license), does this then mean that I can use the 25 IPSEC VPNs and at the same time have users using the 10 SSL Anyconnect VPNs at the same time?
4.)Which Anyconnect license am I supposed to buy if this is the route I go, the clients will all be connecting from their desktops most of the time?
5.)Is it difficult to set up?
