Cisco Wireless :: WPA2000 - SSH / Telnet Set Up Via GUI?
Jan 13, 2013
I am trying to set up SSH/Telnet on a WPA2000 Wireless-G Access Point. I have looked for documentation but am unable to find any that says how to do this via the GUI, and I cannot see any obvious place where this could be. How to set this up? I would prefer SSH but telnet will do.
I'm having some difficulties configuring my Cisco WLC (5508) - ver 7.0.230.0 .I'm have multiple client device residing on same vlan associated to the WLC but unable to telnet over port 8090. However, when inter-vlan, client device able to telnet over port 8090.Say Machine A as application hosted machine and Machine B as client machine; [code] i should be looking on the WLC to allow telnet port 8090 over from Machine A to B within the vlan .

In trying to make sure it was NOT wide open to the internet (amongst many other problems of setting it up, which I ,may address later if I can actually connect to the thing ever again) I told it to only accept connections from a range of address inside the LAN. Now it wont accept anything except telnet from the LAN.Short of wiping out 6 hours of trial and error configuration and resetting it, are there any other options I can exercise via the telnet interface?
I recently configured a Cisco AP 1242, software version 12.4, via the web interface using the default Cisco credentials. At that time I setup an administrator account with read/write access and changed the Cisco to a read only access. Now went I attempt to login to the web interface it won't accept the administrator password. It will except the administrator password in a telnet session however. So via the telnet session I setup another user with privileged exec level access and that wont work on the web interface either. The Login box keeps coming back requesting a password. Strangely enough, I can login to the web Interface using admin username, with the Cisco password; but I can't do anything, and I also can't view everything. I've tried the following:
I've turned on SSH and created a certificate in the AP, but the login box continues to pop on the https://url.I've attempted to setup a user with a non-encrypted password, but have been unsuccessful.I've tried a different browser - login box continues to pop.I've made sure the web interface is activated in the API've tried a differnet computerI've tried disabling password-encryption service. Reset the enable password , I've successfully setup other 1240 APs but must have done something wrong on this one.
Cannot connect to ACS device using telnet IP: port 1812? Seems it is using this port config by default. Is it because of the port it's trying to use? Is there a way of changing the port? If so, where does one do this in the ACS device?I have two 4400 series WLC's one is on the same network segment as the ACS, I can authenticate through the ACS on this one. The other WLC at a different location, cannot authenticate through the ACS.
I have a 891 router I have been testing some things on. I have been able to successfully telnet to it in the past with no problems. Just yesterday I was trying to set an interface to have an IP of 10.10.10.2 which I realized was an IP I had forgot to exlcude from DHCP and it was handed out to the computer I was using to telnet in. So I wrote in the exlcude commands and did an ipconfig -release ipconfig -renew on my PC that had the 10.10.10.2 IP. After the renew I was given 10.10.10.7 (put in a few more excludes). However the release dropped my telnet connection and afterwards I was completely unable to telnet in, getting the error that says I cannot open the connection on port 23. I had made some changes to my entire config beforehand which had it switch to use a new public IP. I never saved the changes and did a hard reset by unplugging the router to get my old config back and see if I could telnet after that. Still could not get in, same error. Well I went through and remade my entire config to use the new public IP. My 10.10.10.7 PC can access the internet, DNS, ping the router, all just fine. Still can't telnet. I remade my line/vty config and made sure it matched up with a config I had on another router. Still can't telnet. Last thing I did was go in and manually clear all open line connections. All that is left is an idle 0 con 0 line that it wont let me close. Still can't telnet. What the **** is going on with this thing? I am completely at a loss to explain why I cant telnet. It must be something in my ACLs that I am missing?
I have a cisco 3750 switch and i given 2vlans (40, 118). 40 is local and 118 is public.I given the public ip for vlan 118. now i am able to telnet from same vlan (118 only) but i am not able to ping and telnet as globally. [code]

I have more than 20 SF 300-24P 10/100 Managed Switch switches deployed and running in my office network. All these switches have web configuration utility enabled. We would like to enable telnet too. But for this I know I have to visit site to site, connect the switch manually with a laptop and enable telnet option. I am looking for how can I enable telnet in these switches using web-based switch configuration utility.
On a LMS 4.0.1 :I want to know what is the right way to change the telnet program on the campus mgr map (topology services map), when right-clicking a device icon and selecting telnet.I would like to use a tool of mine, and not to launch a telnet command from the IE browser.I changed the default telnet of Windows in the registry, but the program is still launched as a telnet URL in the browser and this is not what I would like to do.
I have Cisco router 851 at my region site. It has five Fa ports. One of them is connected to ISP and has ip address 10.1.1.2 (for example). It also has vlan 1 interface, that has ip address 192.168.0.1 (also for example). I also have Tun0 interface that goes through ISP network and connects to my hub network. The rest of Fa interfaces are swithcable and they are in vlan 1.The problem is that from hub LAN I can telnet to 10.1.1.2 ip address, but I can't telnet to 192.168.0.1. Whereas I can Ping 192.168.0.1 from my hub LAN.

I've configured in an ASA5540 (8.4) access to a server in my LAN using telnet with webVPN. I've installed the ssh/telnet plug-in in the ASA and SSH access to the servers works fine but when I try telnet access I always get this error:
Could not connect to: "ip server" 23 Reason: java.io.IOException: Connection failed
It happen with any server I try. I'm not trying to access to the ASA, just servers inside my LAN that I can access with anyconnect correctly. There is a Cisco bug (CSCsq89467) saying that not configuring any Web-acl in the ASA solve the problem. Telnet always show the same error.
I have an early model PIX-515 that hasn't been used in a long time but I want to get it working again in a lab environment. I am at loss right now on how to get into it though.
CONSOLE:
I've tried connecting from the PC's serial port to the units console port using Cisco's blue cable with no avail. All I get is a cursor but no response. I've tried using 9600,8,none,1,none as settings and I can sucessfully console a Cisco 1700 router with those same settings in Putty no problem, but it doesn't work with this Pix. I've also tried using other possible common speeds like 1200,1400,4800,19200, 38400, 57600 and 115200 in case the firewall was set to use those and that didn't work either.
Someone told me the commands, but I can't remember them. Have a router (2801) at the end of a highly utilized T1 link/router. How do I protect it so my SSH and/or Telnet sessions will get serviced if the router is real busy.
I'm having difficulty logging onto my 1801 router over the internet I can ping the device and tracert to it but I can't telnet or SSH ,Here is the config - Can you see whay this would happen. Its on ADSL link.
I setup a site-to-site VPN tunnel at the remote ASA5505. I am able to asdm to the outside interface but not ssh. I switch to telnet and still not allow me to access. I added an ACL to allow telnet any to the outside interface but still not working. In ASDM I see the log Here is the second issue. When I want to change the telnet back to ssh using ASDM I got the following error.

I have two MWR 2941's in a lab environment awaiting deployment in a SAToP environment. They are both running the latest IOS, mwr2941-adviprank9-mz.151-1.MR3.bin. After being up for about 4 days they both stop responding to telnet attempts. I do not get a reject message - it just goes to a blank secreen with a flashing cursor. The only way to fix it is to reboot. I read that an older IOS had a similar bug on the MWR1941 but I cannot find anything about the 2941 having issues such as this.
