Is it possible to regain the PSK from the security tab from a 5500 controller in clear text?I need to check the current used password without resetting it, but I fail to find the password in the configuration (CLI & web interface)Obviously I do have admin access to my controller.
View 2 RepliesWhen a tacacs user is changing the local password on the router (for local user), the acs 5.3 is showing the new password in clear text in authorization reports/logs.
This behaviour is seen on acs 5.x, whereas acs 4.2 is showing encrypted password in the reports.
I have checked debugs on Router and it is sending password in clear text in Tacacs Authorization packet but encrypted password in Tacacs Accounting logs.

We are trying to navigate the waters in choosing between a in-house, controller-based, wireless network solution or a cloud-based solution. We have been presented with the usual suspects in cloud-based (Aerohive, Meracki, etc) and with Cisco (5500) and Aruba on the other side. We are a multi-campus organization with approx. 200 APs.Any hard reasons why go with a controller-based vs. cloud-based solution? If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?

There may be a requirement for MESH but my previous experience using Motorola 802.11a radios is that random, intermittent radio detections resulted in the MESH network having to keep re-forming resulting in less than 100% availability.
What's peoples experience in the UK is 802.11a outdoors?
Ideally i would prefer to use 2.4GHz and repeater access points for those areas not serviced with data connection but I cant find any info' so far on how whether the 5500 controller is able to manage repeater access points.
While configuring a 5500 wireless controller, i came across this option of DHCP proxy under Advanced tab of Controller Option.It asks for the dhcp option 82 remote id format & the dhcp timeout.
1. What is the significance of this & when do we use it?
2. Also, under each wlan ssid that we create, there is an option of dhcp address required under the advanced tab. Do we need to use this option, if we are defining a normal dhcp pool in our controller for that ssid.
I have 5500 controller with firmware 7.0 installed from the factory. Due to some reasons, I understood that other existing wireless infrastructure runs on firmware 6.0, and hance i need to downgrade the 5500 series to 6.0 . During the bootup, i could see there is another image called backup recovery image, which is running on version 6.0. How can i reboot controller to use the older image , which is from backup recovery image. I couldnt find it in the configuration guide.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have several 3750 stacks across our campus that we are unable to completely clear port security on. We have mac address stick set up on all access ports. When we clear the sticky address on the port, the mac address is removed from the running config like normal, but we keep getting port-security voilations. If port security is taken off the port completely, i.e. no switchport port-security, traffic still doesn't pass the port. Even clear port security across the stack doesn't work. If we try to reload the stack, only the master reboots, and the other switches in the stack lose switch capabilities.
View 1 Replies View Relatedin one of the sites, the client has an exisiting 4402 controller which he moved to the DMZ in order to set it as an anchor & he purchased two new 5508 controllers to control the corporate APs. I configured all the parameters needed for the guest anchoring & then I tested the connection but there was an issue. (all the controllers are running the same firmware version)after testing the setup, the guest users could get an IP from the internal DHCP of the anchor controller (in DMZ), but then they cannot reach the internet or anything outside the anchor controller.Cisco confirmed that the 4400 is fully compatible with the 5500 to work in an anchor-foreign secnario as long as they are running the same firmware version. yet, when I temporarily used one of the 5500 controller in the DMZ as an anchor & I applied the exact same configurations on it as the 4400, it worked perfectly without any issues.
note: on the anchor controller (4400), the management & AP-manager interfaces reside on the same subnet & the wireless guest SSID is also mapped to the management interface. (may be this setup is causing the issue) but on the 5500 it is working just fine?
Having an issue with my WLC 5500 and client connectivity. This just started today. Clients will connect for a short period of time and then drop off. WLC appears fine with the exception of a bunch of trap errors. I've rebooted the WLC but this did not clear the issue.

Our client ( a webhost, they have a lot of servers ) has a an older Cisco Pix, everything works fine with the PIX. They have a Cisco ASA 5500 with ASA version 8.3 , to replace the PIX. Upon migrating the PIX config to the ASA we are running into issues with Dynamic NAT. The static NAT entries are working flawlessly (there is a lot of them), however when Dynamic is enabled for the remainging hosts, outside communication works then drops off. The remaining hosts need outside access for updates. We have access lists set up but I dont se ehow that could cause a problem when the original ACL's were working fine with the PIX, they have not been altered.
The NAT config may be wrong or cluttered, have a look at the full NAT config.
The static NAT addressing is the same, example 207.11.129.65 will equal 10.10.10.65
Under the section intra controller roaming, WLC 7.0 config guide states that " When the wireless client moves its association from one access point to another, the controller simply updates the client database with the newly associated access point. If necessary, new security context and associations are established as well" URL.Within the phrase "If necessary, new security context and associations are established as well" . What is meant by the new security context ? My understanding is that only an update to the MSCB (with the AP info) is the only requirement as the client is within the same controller and subnet.I just can't think why would the security info needs to be updated.

I have a small network, about 35 computers.There is 20 LAN PC computers (they use dns, active directory, dhcp), and there is 10 laptops. They connect on same D-Link wireless router( radius server authentication).After most of laptops is operational(connected on wireless router and on domain ), same two laptops always disconnect, and they can't regain connection . All laptops also get their ip addresses through dhcp.I tried all kind of wireless router configuration, I don't think it is dhcp or dns server problem, remote access policy is also very simple

I tried overriding this issue by manually inputting an IP address. I found the IP address the router uses since I currently have multiple computers connected to the same router. However only one computer only have the connectivity issues. The cmd prompt reveals in ipconfig that my IP address as 169.254.14.118, started having problems when a hardware froze my PC and had to reboot it. i uninstalled it, resetted my router and modem, and still have connectivity issues. The hyper terminal works with other switches so the problem is not with the hyper terminal.when I tried to break the password it stuck after I was writing "flash_init" and when I entered or typed text it show only garbage characters. I tried to break the password with all the speeds and it shows garbage output. I tried to turn on the switch and hold control + break and it showed the text only with the speed 115200, but after I left holding and tried to type it showed only garbage again. Also I tried to copy text from the notepad to the hyper terminal.
