Combining Two Totally Different Networks?

Aug 10, 2012

I am trying to work out a way of combining two networks from two (Internet Service Providers or ISPs. One network is for Internet, and the second one is for CCTV cameras. Both networks exist and are working independently, each with its own servers. I want to re-design the whole system such that at any one time t, a supervisor with an Internet connection in his office can be able to see what is happening on cctv cameras without contacting the cctv personnel.

Combining Ethernet And Wifi Networks

Dec 13, 2012

I'd like to know if there is some easy-ish way to combine wifi and ethernet in a network.Since a picture says a thousand words, here's what I want to achieve:I use the desktop computer as a file and media server using windows home group.I have the laptop running windows 7 connected to the TV.So far I've been using just wifi, but when I try to stream movies from my desktop to the laptop I get freezes and glitches.I can't connect both my desktop and laptop wired to the ADSL router, since it's behind a wall I'm not allowed to drill trough.I have a spare network switch and cables, so I was thinking I could connect the ethernet adapters on the desktop and laptop together trough the switch, I'm just not sure how to configure the computers.

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N 2.0.3.3 Firmware Totally Broken?

Oct 23, 2010

I have tried to upgrade from 2.0.2.1 ever since 2.0.3.3 was released back in July.  The firmware image file has remained the same, so I don't think they've ever changed it from the original July release. The download and installation go fine, I even reset to factory defaults.  The problem is that several menu selections are broken, and don't allow you to save your choices, i.e, you can't even rename your SSID.  You can type it in a Apply, but the fields just reset.  I figured this would be fixed with a minor update to 2.0.3.3, but we are now several months since original release and nothing has changed. I have tried this firmware at least three times now.  I have not bothered lately, because I don't want to waste another 30 minutes trying it and reverting back to 2.0.2.1 if this newest firmware is not going to work.

Ubuntu 10.04 - Wireless Connection Works Great But Wired Is Totally Dead

Mar 18, 2012

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. The wireless connection works great, but the wired is totally dead.

When I plug the Ethernet wire, the little led next to the port doesn't blink.

If I do ifconfig, this is the output:

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:1659 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1659 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

[code]....

There is no eth0. Is that normal?

In the "Network Connections" GUI there is an entry "Wired connection 1", its "MAC address" field is blank.

How can I make the wired connection work?

Cisco Wireless :: Setup WRVS4400N To Isolate Guest Totally From Internal SSID

Jan 25, 2011

A query here with regards to Wireless isolation between SSID and wireless isolation within SSID.If we have 2 SSID, eg. InternalSSID, GuestSSID on AP1.Both SSID are set to Enabled for isolation between SSID, and within SSID, that would mean all machines connected thro' this AP1, would be isolated from one another.

1) If there's 1 laptop that connects to another AP, lets call it AP2, (doesn't have isolation function) on ssid01. Would this laptop still be isolated from those that connects to the first AP?

2) If there are wired PCs connected to the router. And the 2 APs are connected to the same router. Would the machines connected thro' the AP1 on either InternalSSID, GuestSSID be able to access those wired PCs? (My assumption is yes.)

3) Is there a quick and efficient way to setup on WRVS4400N to isolate GuestSSID totally from InternalSSID, and wired PCs. InternalSSID and wired PCs should be allowed to 'see' one another.

The challenge here is that, the network points are all installed already. Both AP are connecting thro' 2 separate unmanaged switch together with a couple of other PCs. 1 Port on the unmanaged switch, each, connects to the router.

Combining Two ISP's Into One Network

Nov 9, 2012

At my office, I have two ISPs. Here is the configuration:

ISP1:
- Firewall > Switch > LAN 192.168.10.xxx
- Wireless Router1 Connected to Switch above > WLAN 192.168.10.xxx

ISP2:
- Wireless Router2 connected directly to main RJ-45 jack coming from ISP2
- WLAN 192.168.1.xxx

ISP1 is a T1 line bundle. It was slow for our wireless users in the office. So we went ahead and signed up a cable internet connection from ISP2. The one and only one device connected to ISP2 jack is a wireless router (Wireless Router2).People who are connected to Wireless Router2 (192.168.1.xxx) can't see anything in our LAN and WLAN (192.168.10.xxx); for example Domain Controller, Printers, File Server, etc.How can I configure ISP2 setup so that both routers (or you can say both ISPs) are on the same network 192.168.10.xxx? I want to do this so everyone is on the same network and can see everything.

Main house cable internet will come in with modum to a dlink router for both wired and wireless. desktop and a magic jack wired into router wireless for ipad and laptop. then run wire to workshop about 100' from house where a second magic jack and desktop will be set up (small biz out of workshop). I am pretty sure that the range of the router for wireless will reach to workshop fine for ipad but if not I will need to put a wireless up there tooext kids have a laptop running windows 7 but kids being kids and having had problems with self control on net in past I want to be able to make sure that I can turn them off from net when needed because

1. I do not want them running me past the data limits imposed by cable company and

When Check Internet Usage Log On Wireless Company The Usage Is Totally Off?

Apr 3, 2013

however recently when i check my internet usage log on my wireless company (Rogers) the usage is totally off from what my bandwidth tracker shows me. So i decide to turn off my wifi and see what happens, there has always been this weird wifi connection appearing whenever my wifi appears, then afterwards when i turn off my wifi the suspicious wifi connections disappear. is this possible that someone is using our wifi? i might just be overreacting but it has brought me to concern that if the usage continues my family will have to end up paying over $30 for extra internet use. it is very frustrating me because when i check my DHCP client table it only shows 3 connection, ethernet - my desktop which is not turned on, 2 wireless connection - my laptop and my sister's laptop.

Combining Multiple Internet Connections For Home Network?

Jun 17, 2012

How to make 2 (or more) connections work together and increase your final download and upload. You will need the following items

- A PC or server connected at high speed that is greater or equal to both connections speed (from a data center, You can get some very cheap $30 a month, a VPS can be good enough)

- 2 Internet connections at your home (DSL + cable for example)

- A router that supports dual WAN

- A Magic software that I can write for example

So what is needed is a way to split your data using some technology like the concept of RAID 0 (MAGIC software will be here used) and then use both IPs through the router to send the data to the server which will handle your request (it is possible to have a good usage of VPN here to forward all your traffic to the server without worrying about doing much work here). After that on the server you can reverse your RAID 0 data (using the same MAGIC software) and forward your request to the destination site that you want to visit. Same way the downloading will happen when the server receives a reply from the destination site, it will split the data using same RAID 0 technology (using the MAGIC software) and then send the data to both of your IPs. After that on your side you combine the received data (using the software) and you are done. Of course I do prefer the data splitting to happen using some hardware like a router with MAGIC software as it will be much more effective.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Combining WD N900 And E1200?

Apr 22, 2013

I am looking to expand my network. I purchased a WD N900 router to replace my old Linksys E1200 .The internet connection is coming from the modem, into the WD N900 Router. The WD N900 has the printer hooked up to it, and 3 NAS, a computer and our magic jack. I ran 30 feet of network cable and routed the cable through the walls into the section of the house. I am looking to use my old Linksys E1200 to extend my network. I want to hook up the gaming systems (PS3, XBOX360) as well as the entertainment receiver to my Linksys router. What is the best setup? I am looking to be able to access the NAS from the WD N900 on our PS3 and Xbox360 so LAN-LAN looks like the way to go. I tried using the directions on Linksys site, but it doesn't seem to want to work. I test the network cable I ran through the walls, and it is getting a good signal. However when I hook it up to the Linksys E1200 and connect my lap top the Linksys E1200 to test it isn't working.

Two Separate Networks On One PC?

May 1, 2011

I have 2 PCs at home. Lets name one of them as PC 1 which has two onboard LAN Ports. Now, PC1 has to connect to PC 2, just a home network for easy transfer on files and stuff, and it also has to connect to the internet via a network. The problem is both of them use static ip and when I tried configuring PC 1, it allows only one of the connections to remain active. I simply get an error otherwise saying "Multiple Gateways" will cause conflict and I will be stuck with only one connection. After much study I "somehow" connected both. I vaguely remember using the "route" command in cmd to achieve this. But now, I am getting an error when I try to access PC 2. My Internet is working fine.I am not network savvy at all. run both these connections from PC 1. I should add that I can in no way modify/change/or do anything else to my internet network since it is out of my control. I can do anything, however, for my Home Lan with PC 2. I run windows 7. Both the connections are wired, by the way.

Connecting Two Networks Via WAN?

Aug 15, 2011

We have three computers (one of which acts as a file server) plugged directly into an internal office network. Then we have another such connection leading to the WAN port of a router which shares a single connection among another 5 or so computers & laptops. So the WAN connection is providing internet access AND access to the file server.

Since upgrading to a new router, it is now not possible to "see" the file server from the computers connected to the router, although the internet can still be accessed without a hitch. This has now become infuriating as I've spent several hours changing all possible router & IP settings to no avail.

I've tried two different usb adapters, and connecting the LAN cable directly into the PC. The cable works on another desktop in the house, but my PC wouldnt let me make the LAN network.
