Computer Won't Connect To Internet Via TP Link Power Line
Feb 1, 2013
I have got a TP link wireless router connected by TP link power line ethernet adapters connected to my sky box, one to Samsung Smart TV, which both work fine the third I have connected to my computer. This shows up as as a local area connection but with no internet access. I have similar problems to other people with internet access dropping out after installing Windows * and had hoped an ethernet connection would be more stable. Any thoughts on why I can't connect to the internet via my powerline adapter.

Two of us were using power line adapters to connect to the router. We had no problems whatsoever. Then my other friend got a power line adapter and starte connecting that way too. Then pretty much both mine and his stopped working. Yet my other friend can still use his no problem.I ran and ipconfig /all and I'm noticing that its not giving me a default gateway address. I tried inputting it manually and still nothing. My windows 7 pc keeps saying it can't identify the network.I also have this problem when I try connecting my Xbox and he has the same issues with his ps3.Yet we can both connect wirelessly with no problems. The router in question is a Netgear N300+.

My situation is as follows: A modem in the hallway closet with an internet connection via a coax cable. A living room with an i Mac and a Philips PFL9604 TV connected to the wireless network. The wireless network is provided by a new TP- Link TL-WR1043ND router which is setup next to the modem.
I would like to do the following:
Stream content such as HD movies, shows etc from the i Mac to the TV. Use the TV to watch missed shows with the apps on the TV via internet. Make use of the internet speed upgrade (75 - 150 m bit/s) which will come in a few months. However the signal of the router currently isn't strong enough to maintain a stable connection since it's too far away. The distance from the router to the TV and the i Mac is 12 meters and 6 meters with a wall in between as well. Now I can't move the modem from the hallway closet else the signal to the modem will be too weak nor can I wire an utp cable from the hallway to the living room and put the router there.
I have come up with two possible options now:
Use power line adapters by plugging one into the hallway socket and one in the living room so I can put the router there.
I currently have these power line adapter to try out, however my internet connection occasionally drops while using these adapters. Take the old WRT54GL router or a second TP- Link TL-WR1043ND and use WDS to create 1 network and have good coverage in the living room. The i Mac and TV can then be connected via Ethernet cables to the second router if necessary. I assume it would be best to place the second router closest to the first one for the strongest signal.
The second options seems the best to me as the power line adapters don't seem very promising based on my experience so far. I would like to know if connecting two routers is a viable method to obtain good and stable coverage in the living room?

I migrated my internet from PPPOE to DHCP. My wifi is working with no problem but when I hook up my computer to 1 of the 4 Lan ports I can't seem to connect to the internet I can however log in my router no problem. But I don't get internet access... I wonder what could be the problem. I tried resetting my router and modem to see if just a bug or something but to no avail.

After a quick power surge forced my desktop to reboot, it can't connect to my wireless network, even though everything else can. It may have been applying windows updates at the time of the surge.
Earlier today I shut down my computer to apply some windows updates. A few minutes after it rebooted a power surge knocked it out for an instant and the computer rebooted again. I don't know if it was done applying the updates but for some reason it can no longer connect to a wireless network. It keeps saying "unknown reason" when it fails to connect. I think I had a static IP attached to it.
My iPhone and iPad can still connect to this network, but this one computer can't. It's a desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium with a broadcom adapter added to it. It's too far away to connect to any wired connection. My router is a Netgear WGT624 v4.
I don't think I can post any IPconfig information here because I'm forced to type this on an iPhone.

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter and an AMD Llano build HTPC which refuses to work with each other.
The power plug works well with my Gateway NV79 laptop and even my Intel Core i5 -2500K desktop, without any problems! I have also used it to connect to my Roku, Yamaha Network Receiver and other networked stuff and all worked great, just the HTPC seems to have issues connecting to the network!
The HTPC is AMD A6-3650 on a ECS FM1 A75 Mobo with Integrated Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is what I am connecting the power plug to! Only the connection over the power line adapter does not work, it works great with both a connection directly from the router and with wireless!
The adapter has a 128 bit encryption push button security feature which I'm NOT using. When I connect it the HTPC tries to connect and fails and shows the network as connected to an unidentified network. My LAN drivers on the computer is all up-to-date!

I've just gotten a DIR-615 and replaced a working linksys G router. I configured it to work with my ipad (wireless N), my laptop-win 7 (N), and my desktop-vista (USB connected N). Everything works ok,. I'm using WPA personal, WPA2only, AES encryption, 3600, 802.11n only, auto 20/40 mhz channel width, invisible.
Here's the problem. As I powered up and shut down the laptop each day, it wouldn't connect to the router. I could see the connection, but windows said it couldn't connect. I had to go and unplug the router, count to 10, and then plug it in, and tell the laptop to connect and then it would connect it would be fine.
I thought it might be a compatibility with the laptop driver, but after powering down the desktop today, I had to do the same power cycle on the router to get the desktop to connect. So then I went and turned off the IPAD and had the same thing happen. 3 for 3.
I'm pretty sure its router settings and not the 3 devices, this never happened with the Linksys router, but I don't know what to change.
One other odd thing, when I view the network in windows, the DIR-615 icon is there (for about 15 secs), and then it disappears (for about 5 secs), and then reappears (15 secs), disappears (5 secs), etc. - almost like its dropping out for 5 secs... I haven't noticed a performance hit, but haven't transfer big files yet.

We have a few touch lamps (touch the base to turn on) that comes on all by themselves after I setup the PLK300 kit. Is this a natural occurrence with a powerline networking kit? Of is there a firmware update that solves this problem?

I've got the power cut while PC was running (w7). After rebooting I'm not able to connect to the internet anymore.
In Device Manager, under Network Adapters there is a "Realtek PCIe GBE..." device properly installed. But under Other Devices there are now more entries with exclamation mark:
- Network controller
- Multimedia controller
- PCI Communication controller
etc
I tried updating the drivers, then deleting and reinstalling but no success so far. Still can't connect to the internet. The browser can see the router, at 192.168.1.1 I don't know where the problem is.

I'm running Windows Vista desktop on a wireless network. It's been working fine for months. Just lost power for a minute today and ever since I can't connect to the internet, only locally. My desktop can't even identify the network. My laptop (I'm using it to send this message) is also wirelessly connected and works fine, as do other wifi enabled devices in the house. I've done the power off and on for the modem and the router but it's made no difference. I've rebooted the desktop system too. I've run the ipconfig /all and am concerned I have no Default Gateway listed.

I just moved offices to one where there is only one phone line - its an ethernet socket. I use the room two days a week, the other guy uses it on the other days. his computer is already plugged into it, how would I be able to switch wires when I'm in there - the yellow cable I have is too short to reach. What would I need to buy and is there something that I can put in the socket to connect both wires so I don't have to keep getting on my knees

We had a power outage the other day, and now the wireless router cannot connect to the internet. Network Magic shows there is no connection from the device to the internet. I tried repairing it through Network Magic but it wasn't able to fix it.
My PC is directly connected to the wireless device by LAN cable. If I connect the PC directly to my DSL router I can connect to the internet, but not if I connect to the wireless router and from there to my DSL router. I tried resetting the wireless router to factory defaults and then going to [URL] and resetting up the router security settings. But Network Magic still shows the bad internet connection.
I then tried resetting the router to factory defaults again and installing it from scratch using the setup CD but that failed as well. I'm not at home right now so can't remember exactly at which point it was but I think it was either when the setup wizard tried to detect the device or install the device. This is the second time I've had to reset up my router due to power outage. Last time I was able to get it working by doing the first steps above.

So i have the Dir-615 and two laptops. Both laptops have windows 7, one with 32 bit and the other with 64 bit. I have had my network setup for months. The 32 bit laptop and my 360 are on the network; the 360 is on a wired connection. I recently purchased the 64 bit laptop and am having problems getting it to connect to the Internet. If I hard wire it in through the modem it will connect. If I try to connect to an unsecured network in my area, I can connect. But for some reason I'm unable to connect through my router. Weather I try and connect wireless or through a cable on the ports on the back. If I try and run the network connection wizard it won't fix the problem. I've tried to unplug the router, reconnect and nothing works. The weird part is that i can connect to the router, but can't access either the settings for the router or the Internet. The graphic that is shown in the network setup wizard shows my router but then shows an X in between the router and the Internet. I have tried everything that I can think of.

I have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

Then, in access control, I selected always and put in my son's IP address and created a schedule for him but it won't allow him any internet access.

I have tried everything I can think of but since purchasing my 615-N router from DLink, I haven't been able to get online via wireless internet from another computer in this apartment. The router seems to be working fine - I have a LAN connection through it to this computer I'm on now and the PS3 hooked up to the wireless signal just fine. It is the one desktop computer though. The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old g adapter. I didn't think this would matter because the N router can supposedly communicate with g and b devices.

I'm desperately trying to set up my old D-Link DI-524 on my parent's Toshiba laptop...I'm visiting and going thru withdrawals! I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!

I just bought a DIR-835 Router. the wireless works good-the problem however is the PC I have hooked up to the cable box, now the internet works only occasionally. I have tried disabling the firewall ,etc. The only time I can get the internet on the cable box connected PC to work is when I reset the router. I have a Gateway PC with Windows XP, I use Google Chrome. I assume it must be a Router setting that needs correcting. My previous D-Link router worked fine with the cable connected PC.

I am setting up two identical workstations at the company I work for. They are both brand new HP computers running Windows 7 64 bit. I set up one computer fine and added it to our domain. I tried connected the second computer and I can add it to the domain but for some reason it says "No Internet Access". I can ping our server and anything else on the network, but any website I try won't come up.
Most of the related issues I've searched for were all viruses but since this is brand new and has never been online that is not the case...unless an HP tech decided to play a cruel joke of course!
Could it be the network card? I didn't think so since it connects locally but who knows. I also disabled and enabled, took our sonicwall down and tried to obtain settings automatically, nothing works!

My computer will not connect to the internet, it was working fine then all of the sudden disconnected, I have tried all the basic things like restarting the modem and using a different Ethernet, but none of those worked, so I am convinced that the problem is with the computer itself. I have it set up so that my netbook(which I am using right now) is wirelessly connected to the internet, and I have a ethernet cable going from the netbook to my desktop, giving the desktop internet(until it had this connection problem). I am using windows xp professional, and I have spent a lot of time browsing to try and fix the problem, but so far it is to no avail. First I'll start by saying when i try to repair the connection it comes up with the message " the following steps of the repair operation failed: renewing the IP address" I tried using ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew, but when I do this it says "an error occured while renewing interface local area connection: unable to contact you DHCP server. request has timed out" when I type in "ipcofig" it says my IP address is 169.254.xxx.xx, after researching more i found out that this is bad, but when i try to renew to get rid of it it gives me the "unable to contact DHCP" message. I even tried reformatting with a different windows disc but the connection problem still persists.
