Connecting Cisco 1751 Equipment To Actiontec M1424wr Verizon Router?
Jun 28, 2012
I have a Cisco 1751 that I wanted to use to create another network behind my Actiontec m1424wr Verizon router. My plan was to connect a linksys wrt54gs to the Cisco router for device connectivity. And I wanted everyone else in the house to still be able to use the Verizon router as expected. I know this is probably not the best way to create an internal network. But I am studying for the CCNA & CEH and just wanted to use the Outdated Cisco IOS on the 1751.
My new PC does not have internal modem card.I use Verizon FIOS Actiontec router #M1424-WR rev F. What do I have to do to use as modem for receiving and sending faxes? Do I now have to buy an external USB modem?
I recently moved in with a friend, and we're having trouble setting up file sharing. His PC is connected directly (via ethernet cable) to an Actiontec M1424WR wireless router, which is broadcasting a WEP-secured wireless network. My PC is connected wirelessly (via an RNX-N180UBE usb adapter). Both machines are running Windows 7. Internet access is great. We tried to set up a homegroup, however, and are getting nothing but problems. He created a homegroup on his PC, gave me the password, and I joined on my PC. It said it joined and asked me what I wanted to share, but that's as far as we can get.
- On his PC, when he goes to the Homegroup page, it says "no other Homegroup computers are available." - On my PC's Homegroup page, I see his computer name listed, and when I open it it shows libraries, but when I double click them it nothing happens - He right-clicked his "downloads" folder and did "share with -> Homegroup;" I see it in my PC's Homegroup page but when I try to open it, the system thinks for a while before popping up a "cannot access" message - I also shared a folder of mine to the Homegroup but, since he can't even see my PC, he can't see the folder - I ran IPCONFIG on both machines; his machine's IP is 192.168.1.2; my machine's IP is 192.168.1.5 - When I ping his machine from my machine, I get "request timed out" - When I ping my machine from his machine, I get replies. - When I ping the router from my machine, I get replies. - He has a printer. On my Homegroup page, it tells me that it has detected a new printer, but the "Install Now" button does nothing.
I've gone into Network and Sharing Center -> Advanced Sharing Settings and enabled "Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections." I did this on both machines. He runs a VPN on his machine. Thought that might be the problem, so we turned it off but nothing changed. I run both Hamachi and Tunngle on my machine. Disabled both of those but nothing changed.
I bought the Linksys E1200 for it's wireless N and the guest account. set up my new Linksys E1200 router to use for wireless N access rather that my Verizon Fios provided Actiontec (model M4124-WR Rev.C) which is only wireless G, and so that I can use the guest account. I have an ethernet cable running from one of the 4 ethernet ports on the E1200 to one of the 4 LAN ports on the Actiontec. I have the wireless turned off on the Actiontec, and have the E1200 set as 192.168.1.200.My wireless N signal seems to be working fine from the E1200, and I was able to turn on the guest account on the E1200 and "connect" to it on my iPhone 4, but then when I open Safari I can not connect to the internet.
I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.
it's possible to use the Cisco 1751 router without any add WIC , just use the build in Ethernet port behind Linksys or other ADSL router given from ISP, and configure the Cisco 1751 to make and handiling the VPN traffic ?if yes , how can I configure the Ethernet0/0 port ?
I do not have a cross over cable and have to use xmodem. I set the baud rate to 115200 and I can see everything fine. Using Tera Term when you send the file via xmodem it freezes and closes on packet #3 or about 384 bits. When simply clicking the send file button you get the error-
Not sure what to do from here. I have tried everything.Error you get when you boot the router:

I am currently using a Cisco 1751 w/ 1-WIC-DUS-T1 to connect our branch locations via Frame Relay. I will be adding 2 new locations in about 2 months. What is the 1800 series match for the router I currently use and is there and performance advantages?
I currently use Verizon FiOS 20/5. The speed has been great until the day my cousin and his parents moved in. They also use our FiOS connection and I have came to the conclusion that my cousin's laptop is eating away all of the bandwidth which makes all devices using FiOS have extremely slow internet speeds. I know it is his computer because I logged in as admin to the Verizon FiOS page (192.168.1.1) and I saw that he is using several P2P applications and downloading torrents as well. Is there a way I can limit the bandwidth he is using so that the internet speed can improve? I looked at the QoS tab and tried to play around with the settings, but I don't want to mess it up. The router I have is Actiontec M1424-WR (Verizon FiOS 20 Down/5 Up). A lot of sources I am reading says that I have to use the QoS, but I don't know how to use it on the site.
about three months ago I set our 1751 router as the NTP server of our domain for both our AVVID phone system and our Microsoft Active Directory domain. Been working excellent up until last night. Our company's building had a power cycle and the router got rebooted. Not a huge issue, since it's actually been rebooted a couple of times since becoming the ntp server.
After it's reboot, the time somehow jumped ahead an hour according to all the devices that sync with it. Phone calls stopped working and Active Directory pretty much became useless.
I finally had to break all the devices off of syncing with the router and set them back to the way they were (phone servers sync with each other, active directory doesn't sync with anything externally). It took a few hours to get everything stable again, and I'm still working on parts this morning.
Here's what I've had setup now for three months, we're in Central Standard Time:
ntp clock-period 17179971 ntp master ntp server 69.26.112.120
and I set the "clock timezone CDT -6" It's been like that for three months and everything was fine till last night when it went out of wack.
I just bought a D-Link DIR-615 N300 wireless router to use for printing between my laptop and HP4500 wireless printer. During setup using Verizon Mobile USB 760 modem for internet connection---it's not working--? Or is the only way to utilize is to have a DSL or Cable modem?
I had connected my WRT54G to my wireless router by disableing the DHCP on WRT54G. It worked great until recently. Now I upgraded my linksys box to the latest and greatest AC1750. Iwant to use complete features of AC1750 router. So to do this, How do I connect Verizon Model(its modem+wireless router) to this Router and have AC1750 drive everything.
I have a WRT160n that I am trying to forward some ports on for some DVR equipment. When I use the single port forwarding and enter each port separately it works fine. But I have 2 DVR's and they use a bunch of ports each so I want to use the port range forwarding because there are not enough spots in the single port forwarding section. The ports I am trying to forward are 8000-8004 for one IP address and 8005-8009 for a second IP address. I have entered it into the port range forwarding section but I can not connect from outside my network. As I said if I enter them in the single port section seperately as 8000,8001,8002,8003,8004 then I can connect fine outside my network.
I bought an Actiontec GT724WGR. I downloaded the latest firmware and went to install it. When it finished, I got the confirmation box and it gave me the click okay to restart option. I clicked okay, and when the router power cycled, the Power light stayed amber. I can't manually reset the setting back to default with the reset button. I can't access the router settings.
We recently moved to a place with included internet that was going through a wireless network. All of my devices connect fine, no problem (iPhone xbox and USB adapter) but the lady friends laptop wont connect. It recognizes the network, connects to the network after the password has been entered but will not "give out" any internet. Signal Strength is very good (router is maybe 20 feet from us). All the drivers for the wireless adapter in her laptop are up to date and it will connect to other networks, like at her mom's. This is a newer router and funny enough we actually used this exact model at our last place and it had no problems with this. After calling our landlords ISP they said that there may be a problem with the compatibility of her laptop (its only 3 years old and connects to other networks fine) with the router, yet it connected to the same model not 6 months ago.
People we are at wits end and I am . As my username states If I cant find a fix for this I will enjoy smashing this thing to bits.
I have configured cisco 1751 router for internet with nating. Internet browsing working fine. But We have polycom hdx 6000 conference system to connect from remote site.
1. While calling remote ip it is ringing and connecting but not displaying any thing on the screen but their side is displaying. 2. When they call our side ip it cannot connecting.
I have connected netgear router then video conference is working fine (with out port forwarding also). If I configured that router between 2 local sites (not on internet line) its working fine where i did not configured any thing just given routing. Configure same situation using internet leased line.
capping all of the computers on my router to a certain speed. I like to play games and the others like to buffer movies, is there a way I can cap all of ours so we can each get smooth internet use? Be it by program or through the router it would be great to get it setup and working. Router is Actiontec GT704WG and has 4 computers hooked up to it, will post other spec's if needed.
I have a Verizon supplied actiontec g band router, and would like to place a WRTU54G-TM on the other side of the house to act as a repeater or a wireless bridge (?). I want stronger wireless at that other side of the house and beyond, and use cat5 to hook up some other devices. Can I bridge the actiontec and WRTU54G-TM together, or do they have to be the same brands?
Just had Verizon FIOS service installed. It comes with an actiontec modem. I would like to remove the actiontec modem and connect directly to my Linksys RT31P2 which is cascaded to my Linksys WRT54G. I have tried just about every router setup config; all with no success. How to be able to connect the FIOS directly to a linksys router.
I had an old MS DSL1000 that was upgraded by Qwest to an Actiontec GT701 (not wireless) modem. If the GT701 is plugged directly into the PC, the internet works fine. If it is connected from the ethernet port into the WRT160N router, the LAN works but not the internet, even though the internet light is a solid green on the GT701. I've read about port forwarding and DMZ, but still not positive if I should do one or the other, much less on how to go about setting either of them up correctly.
I got Fios installed this week. Router is the Actiontec MI424, it sits int he living room. I ran a speed test of the wifi on my laptop in the living room, and the internet speeds were great. Here's my problem. I'm in a 2 br condo, not a huge place maybe like 1200 Sq feet, same floor. Wifi is awesome in the living room, but in the bedroom it hangs. I still have a signal, varying for low to good, but it takes forever to open a web page, to the point where you can't use the internet. Bedroom is just down the hall.I called Verizon. They told me they can only guarantee the wifi signal 10 feet from the router, after that no promises. My frustration is that with my previous provider, which was giving me a slower internet connection, my wifi in the bedroom was fine and the router was in the exact same spot. Of course I used my own router? I know there are instructions on connecting my old router to the fios one and using my old router for wifi.
I'm using a stock FIOS router Actiontec MI424WR, and I'm trying to access the router settings at 192.168.1.1. I type in my username fine, but when I type the password, each keystroke gives me more than one digit. Even holding Ctrl adds one, and letting go removes three characters. I've never seen this happen before, and I've tried it on two computers and three different browsers. I see that people recommend hard-resetting the router, but I was wondering why this has happened
I just received a new Cisco SG300-10 and am configuring it in Layer 3 mode. I am trying to setup multiple routed VLANs going back to a FiOS Actiontec router. My configuration is as follows.
Fios Router: 192.168.1.1 Assigning DHCP 192.168.1.2 through 100. SG300-10 has VLan 1 ip 192.168.1.5 used for Mgmt. VLAN2 is 10.0.2.1 VLAN3 is 10.0.3.1.
I have a static route set on the fios router for both subnets setup as follows.
I have a laptop connected to Gi8 on the Cisco (Vlan 3) and statically assigned 10.0.3.3, with a gateway of 10.0.3.1. DNS set to the fios router (192.168.1.1).
Everything pretty much works EXCEPT, I cannot get out to the internet from either vlan. Traffic routes between vlans/and the default subnet on the fios without issue.
When I ping out, DNS resolves, but will not go past the fios router. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
I have not internet in my area ( rural ). I currently use Hughes net ( Poor )I just bought and loaded software for a verzon modem card. How to I hook up a router to the system?
I have verizon fios 35/35 and i am told i have to run there modem/router combo for the tv ge to work properly. I have two ps3's hard wierd to the provided router, and one laptop running wirelessly. The problem is this: when the two ps3's are playing call of duty at the same time, whichever ps3 that was turned on first shows it has an open NAT type and whichever ps3 is turned on second shows a moderate NAT type (this makes them unable to play together online). I am familiar with prot forwarding but not sure if i can do this for two separate ps3's. So i hard wired a second router to the old router and ran everything out of the new one. Only now they are both a moderate NAT type. Ive played around with the UPnP settings, but dont really know what else i can do.
How to hook up a seperate wireless router instead of using the fios router. I want to get a n-signal in my house. Would like an answer or a link to another thread.
I have a wireless network at home with a wired internet connection. I want to move the network to an RV and use my Verizon 4g MIFI box as the internet connection. THe new network will have the MIFI, 2 computers one wireless printer and one wired Ethernet printer and about 6TB of NAS connected via Ethernet.
I tried connecting this on my own and it worked for hard wired Internet service but not for wireless service. Too many cables and boxes attached. I have a vz router, then some other box, and a battery back up.
The standard Verizon router doesn't have Wireless N capability, so I got the WRT600N (first floor) a while back and connected it to one of the ports on the Verizon router (basement). I have the wireless turned off on Verizon router. My problem is that anything connecting to the WRT600N has extremely intermittent connectivity.
I am currently deploying Cisco ASR9K BNG solution and it needs to be integrated with a Cisco ACS 3.3 (yes that old .. going to migrate to new product in the future) equipment. There are several specific attributes need that are not on the base config of the ACS 3.3 but it seems that i can configure them manually:In addition to supporting a set of predefined RADIUS vendors and vendor-specific attributes (VSAs), Cisco Secure ACS supports RADIUS vendors and VSAs that you define. Vendors you add must be IETF-compliant; therefore, all VSAs that you add must be sub-attributes of IETF RADIUS attribute number 26..This is from the ACS 3.3 configuration manual.I have never done this user defined VSAs.
