Connecting To A Hidden SSID?
May 15, 2011
I'm looking for a way to connect to my neighbors wireless connection... I have been using it for a while and then he hid his SSID and now, his connection is listed as an Other Network.I found out his MAC address, but I'm wandering is there a way to connect to the wireless network or just to find out that hidden SSID?

I recently changed my ssid name from the default "dlink" to a more unique one. The problem is that the router is still broadcasting the default ssid along with the new one. Guest zone is disabled and the new ssid is hidden. But the default ssid is not hidded. Using wpa2 with aes, hardware ver. A1/A2 Firmware ver 1.21. How to remove the "dlink" ssid?

We have three Access Points, two Cisco Aironet 1260 and one 1240AG. Originally, the SSID was hidden on all three AP's and users had to go to Other Networks and type in the SSID and password to access the WAN. About a few months ago, the network started broadcasting to the public. I am trying to make the SSID hidden again. I have tried going to the Security tab, choosing the SSID Manager and setting single guest mode to none but it has not worked.

I have found that if I do not enable the broadcast SSID option on my 5GHz N network that my devices will forget the network and not reconnect on their own. Yet, I have the 2.4GHz G/N network set up to not broadcast my SSID and I have no problems. Why can't I disable my SSID broadcast on the 5GHz N network without these problems?

I have 2 sites connected with ASA 5520 Site-to-Site vpn. now I'm adding a 3rd location that will connect both original sites the config should be the easy part (I assume it is the same concept going to each of them) the question is more of a designconcept one: what are the hidden failure points, things i didn't think of etc - I must ensure this triangle function and avoid loops and other problems

Is it possible to connect the dap-1622 to a hidden network using WPA Radius? I've tried, but didn't succeed. I'm running FW version 1.41. I've tried with older FW versions, and none of them seems to work.

As seen from the pic below, I have DIR-655 with hardware revision B1 and firmware version 2.0. The printed, online, and in router manual says that there should be ALG section at the bottom, but as you can see there is nothing there. Is there any setting that makes the ALG section hidden?

I'm wondering if there are other hidden E4200V2 menus.
I didn't think the advanced wireless settings were there on this router, but they are and are accessible by an URL: [URL]
I'm wondering what else is actually in there and not on the web GUI?
Has anyone discovered any other portions of the firmware that are hidden and accessible via an URL entry?

Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

Is it possible to assign a single ssid to multiple interface groups by assigning the ssid to multiple AP groups?
I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building. Each building is also further grouped as AP groups. I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building? I'm thinking it will work.
Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?
5508 controller
7.2.110.0 code
6 buildings
6 interface groups
1 ssid

I connect to my corporate network using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Once connected I can no longer print to my LAN attached printer and other local resources. I use the Cisco/Lyncsys E4200 router on my LAN and can re-connect to the storage on the local LAN by setting up Port Forwarding of port 21 and MS Windows FTP folder sharing. However, I can't seem to connect to a Terminal Services client by forwarding port 3389. Is there a way to connect to the local LAN after logging into the VPN connection. I can connect to regular HTTP/HTTPS sites and most other type of connectiins, just not my own local resources.

I renamed my SSID to "CoolWifiName" so that it's not the router's generic name, but what if a neighbor in my building uses that same name and uses it as their SSID? Since I wouldn't know which is which, and I mistakenly try to type in my wifi password on their's, would they have access to my password and be able to capture it?

As far as im aware the current set up of the network is two desktops connected to a router and the router is connected to a switch (i didnt assemble the network) Now what im trying to do is get onto the router so i can change the SSID for a wirless connection.i was told by the ISP i was to change my IP, DG and subnet from DHCP to a static setup they gave me, which i did. but when i go into the browser to access the net (and ultimatly put the IP into the adress bar to access the properties) the net connection fails and i cant get on. when i change back to DHCP the net works again but i cant configure the router with this IP because the company has forgoten the admin/password.

Wireless Equipment
D-link DIR-655 router set to only N
Old Netgear Router used as access point set to only G (I set up as an access point by turning off DHCP, changing the IP adresss and set to only G.)
Wireless Printer (only G Capable)
Cell Phone (only G Capable)
2 Laptops (both N capable)
iPad (N Capable)
Roku Media Box (N capable)
Problem: If I put the router and access point on the same SSID then equipment that is N capable will connect to the G network. If I use two different SSID's then the printer is unreachable. Is there a way of either (a) having two SSID's but allow the printer to be seen or (b) having one SSID, with separate access points for N and G but not allow N functioning client to connect to the G access point.

I have a strange error in Cisco CISCO892W-AGN-E-K9 that i bought for our clients a month back.
- the router doesn't display the SSID for a longer period. Its like on and off of the SSID, showing sometimes and sometimes blank for the same device (Laptop/ Mobile/ or other Wireless Devices) within the range.
The router is in my office, but sometimes my laptop is connected, and sometimes it does not connect, and it is same with my other friends laptop.
Is it a problem with the device, configuration or the IOS issues?
