Connecting To A Hidden SSID?
May 15, 2011I'm looking for a way to connect to my neighbors wireless connection... I have been using it for a while and then he hid his SSID and now, his connection is listed as an Other Network.I found out his MAC address, but I'm wandering is there a way to connect to the wireless network or just to find out that hidden SSID?

Guest zone is disabled and the new ssid is hidden. But the default ssid is not hidded. Using wpa2 with aes, hardware ver. A1/A2 Firmware ver 1.21. How to remove the "dlink" ssid?

Originally, the SSID was hidden on all three AP's and users had to go to Other Networks and type in the SSID and password to access the WAN. About a few months ago, the network started broadcasting to the public. I am trying to make the SSID hidden again. I have tried going to the Security tab, choosing the SSID Manager and setting single guest mode to none but it has not worked.

Google Search Getting Redirected?
Oct 7, 2011Unsure if this is the correct forum but here goes.....I just installed the Google Chrome and after doing so it has been a hair pulling problem so to say. Now when I do a search with google almost every time it looks like the information site listed I click on it and am redirected to another search and if I try to go back to google search it will not let me off the page. I end up having to close that window and open a new window and research again on google. I open my old internet explorer and the same thing happens there now.

Everything else works fine and I can surf the net using specific URLs but I can search for anything. I have tried a number of options and various anti-virus, spyware and malware scans but no infections are ever found. I have used, AVG, windows defender, and Malwarebytes.

Oct 16, 2012I run an Allen & Heath digital mixer. The iDr32 mixrack sits on the stage and has a 2 port Ethernet switch on board, which allows the device to be controlled with a PC. If you then add a WiFi router then you can have wireless remote control from a laptop. Allen & Heath also sell an app for iPad to do the same. I have this working quite well although I am receiving no metering data from the Mixrack. Allen & Heath say this is probably because my router does not support multicasting. They list some routers which are recommended, but the list is rather out of date. I am trying to find a suitable dual band router with decent range on both bands. I would prefer a cable type, but since it will not be connected to the internet, it isn't important. When I Google "Multicast capable wifi router" all that comes up is a lot of stuff about video streaming. None of the manufacturers seem to list if their product supports multicasting. I understand that multicasting is usually used for video streaming, but in my case it seems to be a requirement to speed up data between the iPad and the Mixrack. Apparently some users of similar systems have encountered problems with multiple smartphone users in the audience seeking WiFi connections. The solution to this is to use 5GHz band, and switch off the SSID. Some have also found it best to use MAC filtering for security.

Dec 27, 2012Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

Mar 4, 2013Purchased a dlink DIR-601, hardware version B1, currently updated to firmware 2.01NA, internet connection works fine, but any time I visit a page that has 404'd I get redirected to [URL] any misspelled url brings me to url...I can't find options anywhere in the config to turn this feature off, it's annoying and intrusive.
I never saw any type of redirection with the old netgear router I replaced, I've tried turning off advanced DNS, no luck. Seems to me it's a feature built into the router, and so, how do I disable it?

You must have read-write access to this switch to display complete information in this window" If packets are captured you can see that the issued command by the CNA host is "GET /exec/show/mac-address-table/", the answer from the switch is:"show mac-address-table ^% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
If I do "Configure->Switching->MAC Address" instead I get the mac address-table correctly. In this case the issued command is "GET /exec/show/mac/address-table/dynamic" and no error is displayed, the answer from the switch is the list of mac-address table.

Some users never get this error, others will get it once in a while and I have one user that gets it every time they try and login.
Cisco Firewall :: 891 - Can't Click Google Search Results
Mar 25, 2012Just setting up and testing a Cisco 891-K9 router. Used CCP for basic setup, figure I'll tweak any settings needed later.For the firewall, I chose the default "medium" security setting in CCP, then added some holes (already setup in NAT) for outside access in.
Now on to the real question:I noticed that I am now unable to click through google search results. On any borwser. Clicking on any search result simply loops back around to the same google search page. If I disable Javascript on the browser, everything works as expected. So it appears that the firewall is preventing something in google's scripts from redirecting and "clicking through" to the final destination page.
I'm familiar with our old Pix firewall commands, but still a relative newcomer to the zone based firewall and commands for this new 891, (relevant Config pasted below) (Gi0 is the WAN interface)
