I have a D-Link AIrPLus G DI-524 802.11g/2.4 Ghz Wireless Router and a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC. I cannot seem to connect to the router. I can do so on my Blackbery Curve but my computer tells me "Windows was unable to connect to *****" There was no chance to give the Security Key.

However my desktop is having issues. My network card detects the wireless network I have set up, however the password is always rejected. I am typing in the correct password. I can get the internet to work on my desktop if I connect the router directly by wire, but I need the wireless to work. My desktop runs Windows 7.

Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption.My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. After I configure the WAN setting on TL-MR3020, my laptop unable to connect to my TL-MR3020 anymore, the message says "windows was unable to connect to TP-LINK_POCKET_3020_B5F9AD".
Do mind that it has been able to connect in the past. My wireless network card (Atheros AR5B93) will detect my wireless network, but after trying to connect to it, it'll come up with a Windows can not connect error. I'm kinda lost here since in the past it's been able to connect without a problem. I know that this isn't all to much information to go off of

Before the clean install I could properly use the wireless internet connection from the linksys wireless network. I recently build a Frankenstein desktop, or at least that's what I'm calling.I started out replacing the motherboard in a HP Pavillion p6130y desktop.After some research I found that the stock motherboard as pretty outdated so I decided to go aftermarket.I wanted to replace as little as possible but now the only original parts are the dvd drive and network card.The network card has to screws on the back to attach an antenna and is a PCI1x card.
I now have a problem where after installing the card and Windows 7 Professional , I can see the list of available wireless networks including my own.But, I cannot connect to any of them even though my own network has full signal strength.
I changed my ISP to "Clear.com" and now one, seldom used, Win7 computer will not connect to the wireless network. I have two other desktops hardwired and two laptops on the wireless that work fine. The two laptops are in the same room as the Clear 'modem/router', while the Win7 box is not, if that matters. The Win7 box worked in that location when I was on the cable and had a separate wireless router.The box that will not connect, does show that the wireless connection is availableand the adapter shows to be working properly in Device Manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting to my wireless network sometimes it shows up sometimes it does not but when it is there it sometimes has full bars and others has none. I have tried resolving the the issues through windows and it either says windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue or it says to unplug router for 10 seconds blah blah blah. sometimes it says there is an issue at the access point or wireless adapter. It is really getting frustrating and everything else that is wireless works in my house. I have a dell studio 1745 and windows 7 on it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently moved and I brought my wireless router with me from my last home. The wireless router is a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N Router. I reconfigured the router with a new connection name, password and security key. Upon trying to connect to the wireless network once it was fully reconfigured (no problems reconfiguring whatsoever), I was getting the "Windows was unable to connect" message. Since then, I have been able to connect successfully to the network with an iPod Touch, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and my roommate's laptop. I have tried resetting the router and modem with no success. I can see the wireless network in the available connections list and other networks in my area. I can also connect to the internet through this router manually using an ethernet cable (which I am doing now, to post this message). I submitted my computer's specs using the SysInfo app given at registration.
I will also include an IPCONFIG /ALL as I have seen this requested in other threads like this one. These are the results of that: (note: this was run while connected through the wireless router using an ethernet cable)

I recently bought a windows laptop running vista to do windows testing on for web development (I use macs normally).I was shocked to find that I can't simply push connect, enter a key and then be connected to our home wireless network... no of course not because it's windows and nothing is easy or practical.Anyhow, before I go on an anti windows rant, I actually need this working.So at home we have a wireless network secured by a 32bit WEP key.On our macs I simply push connect, enter this key and we're away.With my new vista machine I go to Network & Sharing Center -> Connect to a network and click our network.I'm then immediately met with a screen that says "Press the configuration button on your access point". I have no idea what this means.Down the bottom of the screen there is an option that says "I can't find the configuration button... I want to enter the network key or passphrase instead" Which I click.The next screen I click "Enter/Select additional log on information" but this brings up a user name/ password/ login domain screen... I just want to enter my 32 bit key and be connected. I'm using a D-Link DIR-615 wireless router.Also, when I run "ipconfig" in the command prompt I get."Media State....: Media disconnected"

Basicly...she can see my SSID,but when she tries to connect...it doesn't work...it just...loads...it doesn't ask for the password or anything...
A friend told me that i might have to give her acces in some way... I have no idea what i did but it worked for my laptop.

I have a DIR-655 B1 with FW 2.05.I have different computers/phones connected to internet via the router, both via wifi and ethernet. I have Linux/Windows 7/Android and iOS units. Two weeks ago one of my Windows 7 laptops did not connect to internet and I thought it was the computer. I did a lot of troubleshooting the computer, still did not work at home. When I brought the laptop to a friend it work directly. Now I started to think that it was the router that was the problem. On the status page I can see that the machine got an IP address in the "LAN Computers" part. I can confirm in the laptop that it received the same IP address via DHCP.
I have look around in the menus but can not find anything that should make this computer not connect. I can not even login to the router via this computer.
I'm desperately trying to set up my old D-Link DI-524 on my parent's Toshiba laptop...I'm visiting and going thru withdrawals! I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI reset my Dlink 615 wireless router. I held down the power and reset for 30 seconds and rebooting the system with the disc. I did change the router name, but believe everything else stayed the same. My desk top is working fine being "hardwired" but nothing wireless will connect.
I did see this time it installed Network Magic which I have since uninstalled and again rebooted the computer system and still cannot get the wireless to work. It shows the network available, but my password for some reason does not take.

1. Green Packet DX-230 WiMAX modem with router
2. D-Link DIR-615 ver G2 (from my ISP)
3. D-Link 8 port desktop switch
I previously used the DIR-615 with my high speed broadband connection. However I had to move to a new house and here I can only get WiMAX. I want to...Place the WiMAX modem upstairs to serve as modem and wireless access point Have the DIR-615 function as the main router and firewall (downstairs) Use the switch to connect all the rooms in my house FYI my WiMAX modem has no connection configurations. I just plug it in and it'll connect automatically to the WiMAX signal. It has 2 LAN ports but no WAN port. From my understanding of networking, I have to turn off DHCP on my WiMAX modem, put it in the same IP range as my DIR-615 (192.168.0.100-199), and disable UPNP and NATPMP. After this I'm stuck.How do I tell my DIR-615 to use the WiMAX modem as it's WAN connection?Should I reserve an IP for the modem in my DIR-615?

Everytime, I turn on the ADSL2+ wireless modem router, it connects to the internet and my laptop gets paired with the wireless network but after 30 mins time, wireless ADSL2+ router restarts itself and goins in a loop for nearly 5 times and then it gets connected to internet but then I cannot connect my laptop to the the router using wireless with error DHCP failed to assign IP but DHCP is enabled in the router. This has started since a month and I had tried several network change settings but nothing has given me a solution. I do use Kaspersky IS through which the connection flows in. My internet setting is set to use Automatic DNS discovery and most time, I get RC 102 DHCP error.

I would like to connect a device (dataloger that sends data to a remote server via internet) which only has LAN port to a wireless network on the location. I managed to do this once with WA901ND configured in Client mode (WA901ND acts like a wireless card for this data loger).Does WR941ND support this feature (which feature should I use?) or should I buy WA901ND again?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-615 was working for months but then it unexpectedly stopped. So I tried re-linking, but Windows can't find the certificate to log onto the network. I found the network fine but I can't find anything that lets me input the WEP key.
Perhaps I need to reset it up on the main computer? But I don't know how to find the IP address or the MAC address.

I went to Furrynutz link where I never found the direct download lilnk to the widget. I then chatted with a Microsoft representative at the widget page and he linked me to the same Furrynutz's link.
My DIR-825 has the latest firmware, 2.06xx and works flawlessly, even the shareport usb port works without a hitch with a Seagate Expansion 3TB drive connected into it. What I simply would like is the D-Link gadget.
I have a wireless network set up in our small office. I just bought the DIR-655 and installed it (did have a very old Netgear router). I currently have two wireless printers, a MAC and a couple of iPhones that can connect to the network and internet. My desktop is plugged in and also connects fine.The BOSS just came in with his fairly new Win7 laptop and I connected it to the network, however, no matter what I try, it won't connnect to the internet. I can see his laptop in the network, it can see my computer and it says that it is connected to the network. It also says that it is not connected to the internet. I ran the troubleshooting (by clicking on the "X" between the network and the internet in the Network and Sharing Center) and it said it couldn't find the problem. The Win7 laptop has no problems connecting to the old network, nor any others that it encounters.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my wireless lan driver. Curiously, when i configured my router to be open (No Security key required) it says limited access, and when i require it to ask me for security key it does not connect at all saying ' Windows could not connect to (name of network)'.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm staying with friends who have a router connected to their modem, which is connected to a computer.Three other computers connect remotely via wireless, including mine, which is the farthest from the connection. I have a so-so USB wireless that gets the job done, but isn't anything special. This morning I came home to find my connection was very laggy and spotty. I rebooted the modem and router,which reduced me to no internet connection at all. I removed the adapter, plugged it back in, then rebooted. Nothing. Since then, I've reinstalled the adapter's software twice, gone into safe mode and back out, have verified the USB port is working, and removed the device from device manager. And I've seen everything on my status from the yellow yield sign to the unplugged icon symbolizing no adapter period, even when the adapter is plugged in.All other computers have access but mine. Just before writing this, I remove the connection settings and reentered them. The connection asks me for the key, I put it in, and receive "Windows could not connect to <the network>. I receive that even if I intentionally put the key in wrong. No "key is incorrect" or "please reeneter" just "windows could not connect." My wireless adapter's settings verify that there is signal. There was a thunder storm today, and I'm mentioning it, but feel insofar as my computer is concerned, it may be a red herring.
I am at a complete loss. There's signal. The usb adapter's software has been reinstalled, and it's attempting to connect. I think the fact that it's not giving me any response about the key being incorrect may be the key to this solution, but I am at a loss.My friends insist that no changes have been made to the router or modem other than my resetting them.In the time between writing this and posting it, I unplugged my wireless adapter from the computer with the ailing connection, and went to another computer to continue researching. When I came back and plugged the adapter back in, it connected immediately for about 15 seconds and gave me just enough time to visit my home page (which updates regularly, so I know it wasn't a cache), then fizzled. Then the internet went to zero bars. I disconnected, reconnected, and got limited connectivity with the yield sign. I used the repair tool and got that orange "flame(?)" in front of the connectivity bars and hovering over it yielded "connections are available. Not connected." When I tried to connect again, I received the previous "Windows could not connect to <network>." Rebooted again and saw the yellow yield sign. Then red flame. Then windows cannot connect.
