Apr 10, 2013It didn't fill it up completely, it stopped at the 200 meg free mark, however I have cyclic checked (which btw is not mentioned anywhere in the manual). I assumed this option would cycle by deleting the oldest file to continue recording.

Mar 10, 2012I have my 942L set up for continuous recording. When I look at the files, the camera will record between 20 and 55 seconds, end that file and start another. The next file then starts between a few seconds and as much as 40 seconds later leaving a gap in the video recoding. The file sizes are all different and the amount of record time is different for each file.
Also, about 80% of the time, the time increments a few seconds on a playback and then stops updating even though the video is longer.

Feb 28, 2013I would like to record the camera feed (per 5 min. files) on my server (ubuntu or windows)
I Installed a FTP server and tried the option "always" in the "video clip" section, but unfortunately, it seem not possible to record more than 10 seconds files every 60 seconds . I think that this is a bug ?
Do you know, if we have a possibility to record the camera feed, I would like to manage it from the webcam or with an external program running as a service.
D-Link DCS-942L :: Not Working Over Wireless With SD Card
Dec 14, 2012My DCS-942 is doing everything quite well, except when an SD card is inserted. When connected to the network via ethernet, everything works well. I can set detection zones with snapshot or video modes and it does what I want it to do, however, as soon as I remove the ethernet cable and wish to use the camera over wireless, the unit fails to work at all (red light illuminated). If I then remove the SD card, it will work over wireless again with all the capability except for SD oriented operations. I have performed several hard resets and formatted the card with no success.

Feb 11, 2012Can the DCS-942L be configured to send the "Video Clip Notification" email video attachments as MP4 as opposed to AVI? The iPhone can not play AVI files, so I'm forced to use the snapshot feature which misses a lot of the motion. I have a Linksys WVC80N that allows me to send video email attachments in MP4 format that works great, but I would like to have this ability on my two D-link DCS-942L cameras as well. If there is no way to send MP4 video email attachments... is this something that could be added as part of a firmware upgrade?

The live video is OK from MyDlink, but when I log on to the cameras from "Advanced Settings" the live video is just a black screen, no matter what video profile I select. The scheduled recording or scheduled snapshots is not working. I am running the camera standalone and using the web based configuration, storing the images or avi's on a ftp or samba server.
No matter what i specify, it records when triggered (by motion in my setup). All the other settings like, samba, ftp, video, motion detection, and so on is working fine - but I can't configure it to only record like between 10-16 every day. It records all the time - no matter what I select and what I enter in the schedule scheme.

This is in complete darkness, and its not seeing anything beyond 3ft. I've tried unplugging it, but didn't work. I haven't tried a hard reset yet, but may have to. During the day it works great, but after nightfall the camera shows random lines in the [poor] video. These lines are being picked up as motion and as such the camera records all night long taking up massive amounts of disk space. Even when I put the camera motion detection on 'lowest' value, it still picks it up.

That fixed the video problem but since then I have not been able to connect to my home wireless network. Windows suggested that I may have a hardware problem with my network adapter so I replaced it with a new Linksys AE 1200 USB adapter.The device manager says it is working properly but it does not pick up the wireless network says no networks available.The old computer sitting next to it picks up the network fine. I have reinstalled the adapter several times with no effect. When I click on the wireless network icon and ask it to diagnose the problem it says that 1) the network adapter has a driver or hardware problem (device manager says its working properly) and 2) to make sure that the Internet Protocol Bindings are proper and to make sure that Internet Protocol Version 4 and Internet Protocol Version 6 are selected (those protocols are selected).
