View 2 RepliesI'm trying to set up opendns on my DIR-825, firmware v2.05. Under the Setup/Network Settings I set the primary and secondary DNS Server IPs to the ones from [URL] and save the settings and they don't stick.I have also unchecked the "Enable DNS Relay". Well, tried it on and off and neither pad a difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLately, Ive been trying to change my router DNS to OpenDNS. Somehow, after changing it, I couldnt access the router page at 192.168.0.1, getting the error 500 message. I unplugged and plugged the router with no effect. Im using a dlinkddns.com dynamic IP, and have a few ports forwarded for my DVR. The router model is DIR 615. want to change the DNs for speed and filtering purposes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 5508 WLC that for whatever reason cant take any DNS settings, but I still need to get some filtering on the public hotspot side of my wireless network. Can I put the DNS settings on the router that the circuit terminates on? This is the same router that the public vlan is defined on, I'm just not sure if I can put DNS settings in place for just one vlan, and how that'd work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection. Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses. When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my Linksys WRT54G v5 router to use Google's Public DNS but the steps in the Google instructions are a bit vague for me: To change your settings on a router:1. In your browser, enter the IP address to access the router's administration console.2. When prompted, enter the password to access network settings.3. Find the screen in which DNS server settings are specified.4. If there are IP addresses specified in the fields for the primary and seconday DNS servers, write themdown for future reference.5. Replace those addresses with Google IP addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.6. Save and exit.7. Restart your browser.8. Test that your setup is working correctly; see Testing your new settings below.
I'm just not confident as to where I input the primary and secondary DNS IP addresses?
I tried multiple times to register a username here and no matter what I chose I would only get "An Error Has Occurred" when I submit the info. I've tried this over several days and keep getting the same dead end. So, I went to bugmenot.com and I'm using a generic username that was given there in order to post this. So...there's that...
Starter info... I'm running Hardware Rev A4 of the DIR-655 on the 1.33NA firmware. I never upgraded past that firmware because of all the horror stories I'd read about new firmware here. Up until lately it's been fairly stable. The issues I refer to SEEM to coincide with my recent installation of Apple TV hardware on my wireless network, though I can't confirm. It's never been great with this router, so that could be coincidental. On my network I have a hardwired Mac Mini, wireless Macbook Pro, a hardwired D-Link DNS-321 NAS box, Apple TV, Logitech Revue, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone and occasionally one each of a Samsung and LG Bluray player (only when they're powered up, which is rarely). I'm also using a wireless repeater in the middle of my house because the DIR-655 doesn't yield a very usable signal in my master bedroom, which is on the opposite side of the house as the router.
With all that being said... I have had terrible issues being able to keep a steady connection wirelessly with this router as of late. Streaming Youtube videos will stop after a few seconds, loading websites will just stop responding all together, and I can't even keep a connection to stream music from my Mac Mini to my phone or AppleTV using Home Sharing in iTunes. I'll get a few seconds of a song and it will just drop out completely. It's been extremely annoying and I'm ready to take a hammer to this router, to be honest.
I've checked my logs and there were all kinds of FIN:ACK, PSH:ACK and SYN:ACK TCP packets that are being blocked. I noticed many of them were coming from Apple IP addresses, so I assume that the AppleTV had a lot to do with those. I actually used the Inbound Filter settings to allow requests from a whole block of Apple IP's, which seems to have settled log items from them down a lot. There are still quite a few that seem to be coming from Google IP addresses (I presume the Logitech Revue since it uses the Google TV interface?), but the Google IP's are too random to go allowing a large block. I have Advanced DNS disabled. All Traffic Shaping and QoS boxes are checked to enable. Comcast is my cable internet provider. I've noticed that my WAN Connection Up Time is often a fairly low number like the connection to the cable modem drops out frequently.

I'm trying to connect an Xbox 360 to my University's wireless network using a bridged connection between the wireless adapter and the LAN adapter. I can connect to the internet on the Xbox, but not Xbox LIVE. I get an error message stating that my MTU setting must be 1364 or higher. I obviously cannot access the router settings because they are the schools routers and I do not have administrative privileges. So, Is there some other way to modify MTU settings without that access?

Is there a way to keep Google Earth working, even blocking traffic on Port 80? I've tried configuring an application rule to let Google Earth working, but it didn't work (it seems that I can not create an exception for Filter Port) .

The new IP is not reachable from Internet nor pingable from device on the same LAN.The new IP address is in the same subnet of the old IP.
From the switch on which the ASA is connected and from another Cisco PIX we can see the ARP entry. In the analysis, on the old public IP address there was a VPN site-to-site and Webvpn defined. We tried also to shut/no shut the interface and reboot the device.
For some port fowarding reasons I have to change my router setting to these:Maximum Ports: 4096TCP Timeout (in seconds): 600UCP Timeout (in seconds): 120I am using a Realtek router ( Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet <NDIS 6.20>)This is supposed to be EXTREMELY easy but I lack any general computer knowledge whatsoever. View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my restaurant, we currently have a password protected wifi network for customers and staff. The load is typically light, so it's worked fine. Now, we're putting in a new cloud-based point of sales system, which effectively means that I need a totally uninterrupted, high quality wireless signal running to the POS terminal (in this case, an iPad). If the terminal is sharing that connection with 15 customers Facebooking on their iPhones, I imagine we'll have some signal issues. I'd rather not install a second network dedicated to the POS terminal. Are there any other possible solutions, i.e. a way to give priority to the terminal over other connections? A way to "split" the existing network so only a portion of it is available to customers?
FYI, current network speed is 20/mbs 2/mbs, and the POS terminal requires a minimum of 7/2 mbs.
When I set up my Linsky's Router,I set it up for 2 old computers (I can do 3 on it.) I bought a new laptop & added that. I no longer own the 2 older computers and would like to remove them & add my sisters laptop + the newer laptop she gave my little girl. I would also like to change it so that it is password protected instead of closed so that family & friends who visit may get online as well.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had a WRV200 wireless router running at the family office now for a several years now and recently I was made aware of an issue with the router. Previously it's function was to provide internet access for the laptops at the office and two workstations. It was a simple set up really, 1 SSID was for the work computers that were allowed on the internet and another SSID for personal and quest wireless devices and I made sure they were in seperate VLANs. This issue came into light after our office moved and with some new upgrades in networking equipment it was deemed safe enough to have the other computers on my wireless router.
What is happening is that all the computers will have a momentary drop of connectivity and will re-establish it's connection to the wireless router. I check the event viewer and it's the same thing accross the board. I'll have several DHCP warings specifically event ID 1003 and finally DHCP error 1000 almost 30 minutes after the first warning. From the looks of it there is something going on with the DHCP addresses about to expire and the systems are having issues trying to get it renewed. The error will happen then the computer will restore the connection.
I have it isolated to the WRV200 because of two reasons. Every machine is having this issue, it's not a random occurance on one computer. The big clue was when I checked Event viewer on my Marketing Director's laptop. These same errors were present all the way back to May which was before the office move and the router was provide access for our laptops to get online. There was no other networking equipment connected to it except for the Clearwire modem.
Between May and now the router has been reconfigured from scratch. New SSIDs, redid the internal IP addressing network wide to incorporate the new computers and would be easier to manage them that way. All wired devices go through a 16 port switch and then through port 1 on the router. Port 1 is on VLAN 1 and the others on VLAN 5. The 3 SSIDS are each on their own seperate VLANs. All systems are on DHCP and the important computers and the printers I am using Static DHCP. In the mean time I set all the important machines to use an alternate IP addressing scheme so hopefully there is no drop in conenctivity. While the drop is minor it could cause issues in the program called SLS (especially during printing) so I can not have this issue to continue. Configuration wise everything is defualt, is there something to change in the configuration settings that I may have missed twice now or the router simply near the end of it's life cycle.
I use CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1.
I planned a discovery of devices for some time, but if I change the parameters of discovery (adding a seed device) in "Discovery Settings Summary", this change does not apply in the scheduled task.

I have a new WAP54G Access point in our network. I would like to change WPA security settings, but am not able to do it.I have done everything as installation leaflet says, and I get to the 5th point Status sheet: Firmware version v.304, MAC address (numbers), IP address 192.168.1.245, SSID linksys, Channel channel 6 and WEB security Disable
What I would like to do, is change SSID and have WPA2 security. When I am clicking "Yes", it goes to the next sheet "Password", I write admin and click "Enter". I will have Pop-up window "Setup Access violation at address 0049BDB6 in module 'Setup.exe'. Write of address C933016A."
I have a computer that is connected to a linksys wireless router model WRT160NV2. I also have a laptop. I have never set up a lock or anything on my wireless connection and I think other people are using it. When I type the IP address 192.168.1.1 on my laptop, I do not get the screen to pop up to change my settings. Do I need to do this from the computer?
