Change The Network Adapter Settings To 100 Full Duplex?
May 19, 2011If I change the network adapter settings to 100 Full Duplex, is there any changes that will take effect? even if we don't have Cisco switches in our network.

Jun 26, 2012we have over 100 AP1242 with c1240-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2 image, tow 5508 controller and WCS running. After the ap reboots, the duplex settings of the fa0 interface change to half duplex. I have to set it manually to full duplex. In my WCS or with the 5508 controller I have no chance to set the duplex settings for my ap's.

Nov 6, 2012So I recently got a new computer today and it won't let me use my 100mbps of internet bandwidth. (Asus Sabertooth Z77 with an Intel 82579v gigabit lan controller) I noticed that at the LAN connection properties>Properties>Configure>Link Speed tab the 'Speed and Duplex' option was on Auto Negotiation and it was only accepting (or supporting) the 10mbps Full Duplex. When I switched it to 100mbps Full Duplex it would mark my connection icon with a red cross and when I clicked diagnose it said "Please connect your ethernet cable or your cable might be broken". So I tested my internet speed with that same cable on a different computer (laptop) and it worked with 40Mbps, so I don't think the cable is broken. Also I just recently downloaded some drivers but one was specifically for the Intel LAN controller but I'm a total noob for all of this computer stuff I don't know if it messed it up or something. Is it the motherboard that's not working correctly?

Jun 4, 2013I have C3750X with C3KX-NM-10G, and have-T SFP in slot 3 ( means it is not in SFP+ slot ).I need to set speed&duplex hard to 100/Full, but if I do the link goes down. I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine.The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. Also port capabilities do not indicate duplex could not be set to full:

Feb 26, 2011I have 100 mbps fiber connection. I bought 320N today I bought 320N and here is the problem:
We have a switch in the building. I am getting connection via CAT5. So I choosed "Use as WAN Port" from Ethernet settings. There is not much you can do here. I just used PPPoE and connected internet without any problem. The problem is I am only getting 32mbps. When I connect CAT5 cable directly to my computer I am getting 92mbps.
Maybe WAG320N is not establishing a full duplex connection.

May 24, 2012I have a broadband connection and recently I bought a new D-Link wireless router for accessing internet on my Android phone via Wi-Fi. Router model no. is N 150 DIR-524.After configuring it was working fine for a week or so and then one fine day internet stopped working on my PC and router LED for internet was not glowing as well. So I called my ISP and they changed my ethernet card settings (nVidia).They changed the 'Speed/duplex settings' from 'Auto Negotiation' to '10 Mb Half Duplex' and then the internet started working. During this they had disconnected my router. Once they were gone, I reset the router and connected it back. Since then it ain't working Internet works fine when the cable is plugged directly in the ethernet card but doesn't work when plugged via router. Router does everything right from opening the '192.168.0.1' page to saving the settings. But there's no internet access.

Jan 25, 2011I use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.

Dedicated 2nd Wifi Network Or Change Qos Settings?
Oct 22, 2012In my restaurant, we currently have a password protected wifi network for customers and staff. The load is typically light, so it's worked fine. Now, we're putting in a new cloud-based point of sales system, which effectively means that I need a totally uninterrupted, high quality wireless signal running to the POS terminal (in this case, an iPad). If the terminal is sharing that connection with 15 customers Facebooking on their iPhones, I imagine we'll have some signal issues. I'd rather not install a second network dedicated to the POS terminal. Are there any other possible solutions, i.e. a way to give priority to the terminal over other connections? A way to "split" the existing network so only a portion of it is available to customers?
FYI, current network speed is 20/mbs 2/mbs, and the POS terminal requires a minimum of 7/2 mbs.

Jul 18, 2011I have had a WRV200 wireless router running at the family office now for a several years now and recently I was made aware of an issue with the router. Previously it's function was to provide internet access for the laptops at the office and two workstations. It was a simple set up really, 1 SSID was for the work computers that were allowed on the internet and another SSID for personal and quest wireless devices and I made sure they were in seperate VLANs. This issue came into light after our office moved and with some new upgrades in networking equipment it was deemed safe enough to have the other computers on my wireless router.
What is happening is that all the computers will have a momentary drop of connectivity and will re-establish it's connection to the wireless router. I check the event viewer and it's the same thing accross the board. I'll have several DHCP warings specifically event ID 1003 and finally DHCP error 1000 almost 30 minutes after the first warning. From the looks of it there is something going on with the DHCP addresses about to expire and the systems are having issues trying to get it renewed. The error will happen then the computer will restore the connection.
I have it isolated to the WRV200 because of two reasons. Every machine is having this issue, it's not a random occurance on one computer. The big clue was when I checked Event viewer on my Marketing Director's laptop. These same errors were present all the way back to May which was before the office move and the router was provide access for our laptops to get online. There was no other networking equipment connected to it except for the Clearwire modem.
Between May and now the router has been reconfigured from scratch. New SSIDs, redid the internal IP addressing network wide to incorporate the new computers and would be easier to manage them that way. All wired devices go through a 16 port switch and then through port 1 on the router. Port 1 is on VLAN 1 and the others on VLAN 5. The 3 SSIDS are each on their own seperate VLANs. All systems are on DHCP and the important computers and the printers I am using Static DHCP. In the mean time I set all the important machines to use an alternate IP addressing scheme so hopefully there is no drop in conenctivity. While the drop is minor it could cause issues in the program called SLS (especially during printing) so I can not have this issue to continue. Configuration wise everything is defualt, is there something to change in the configuration settings that I may have missed twice now or the router simply near the end of it's life cycle.
