I am trying to hard code the speed and duplex settings on interfaces gigabit 0/1 - 2 interfaces with out success.

we have connected gig interface Ethernet on Cisco 2900 series router to mpls link connected to our corporate network ,the issue here is our router interface speed and duplex settings are set to auto negotiation.The interface is negotiating speed and duplex at 10 and half where the provider side interface is hard coded to 100 and full duplex.when we tried to hard code the settings on our router to match the provider the interface never come up.

Router model no. is N 150 DIR-524.After configuring it was working fine for a week or so and then one fine day internet stopped working on my PC and router LED for internet was not glowing as well. So I called my ISP and they changed my ethernet card settings (nVidia).They changed the 'Speed/duplex settings' from 'Auto Negotiation' to '10 Mb Half Duplex' and then the internet started working. During this they had disconnected my router. Once they were gone, I reset the router and connected it back. Since then it ain't working Internet works fine when the cable is plugged directly in the ethernet card but doesn't work when plugged via router. Router does everything right from opening the '192.168.0.1' page to saving the settings. But there's no internet access.

we have over 100 AP1242 with c1240-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2 image, tow 5508 controller and WCS running. After the ap reboots, the duplex settings of the fa0 interface change to half duplex. I have to set it manually to full duplex. In my WCS or with the 5508 controller I have no chance to set the duplex settings for my ap's.

I have C3750X with C3KX-NM-10G, and have-T SFP in slot 3 ( means it is not in SFP+ slot ).I need to set speed&duplex hard to 100/Full, but if I do the link goes down. I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine.The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. Also port capabilities do not indicate duplex could not be set to full:

I cannot seem to correct a duplex mismatch issue.I have a Cisco 2950 switch connected to a Cisco 2621 router. I am running a per-interface Vlan. I have two fastethernet ports and one NM-1E card installed on the router. One fastethernet port is connected to my gateway router, the second fastethernet port is connected to my switch for one Vlan. The NM-1E Ethernet card is being used for the second Vlan which consists of nine IP cameras. Though the cameras on the Vlan are working fine.Now, the NM-1E card is set to half-duplex. I know that I should be using a fastethernet module like a 1FE 2W or a 2FE 2W card, (which I have,) but the router does not recogonize either one of these cards when they are installed, and yes, they have been confirmed as good cards.
Using Router-on-a-Stick configuration is out due to the bandwidth contention besides the fact that the router I am using it on will not handle this due to the flash being an older version.I have forced the switchport to half duplex, setting the speed to 10. I was getting fewer error messages at first, but they soon increased back to the frequency that they began with.I have set the switchport to duplex auto, but this failed to resolve the issue.Obviously, I cannot force the switchport into duplex full since the NM-1E interface is set to half duplex. Can the NM-1E card be configured to full duplex? I can't seem to find any documentation showing where it can be forced to full duplex mode.Could nine IP cameras just be too much for both the router and switch to handle?
I have a 4503 switch (in L2 mode) running 12.1 hooked into a C2950 running 12.1, using regular 4 pair Cat5e cables to connect between them. The 4503 has Gigabit port 2/1 trunking to the 2950's Fa port 0/13.
When I set the duplex mode to DUPLEX FULL and SPEED to SPEED 100 on both switches (for their trunk ports) the link fails, and my 4503 loses connectivity (since it gets it from the 2950).

I am doing an small project, I have to connect 4 cisco switches SF 302-08 (1 GBIC each one) to a core switch SGE 2000 (4 GBICs). Because of cable length I have go connect all 5 switches with fiber. The fiber termination is multimode LC duplex. My confusion is on the mini GBICs. There is compatibilities issues i been reading. [code]

I ask him, did you change something? he said he didn't change anything, he just pluged a nortelswitch to the cisco switch number 9, but that switch doesn't crash like the others (3,4,8). I check the uptime, and yes the switch never been powered off..

the vlan is end to end vlan, so vlan span between all those switches. transparant. this is collapsed topology, core and distribution is the 6500 itself all of the 1-9 access switch are in the same rack, with no loopguard, and bpdu guard configured. and connected to the core using etherchannel. the problem is there is no log available to start the troubleshooting/investigation.

I was giving up but then I plugged in a friend's old Linksys/Cisco Adsl gateway and all the problems disappeared (kudos to Cisco). The problem is that the gateway is not ADSL2+. I have since borrowed a Linksys/Cisco ADSL2+ router, however, there isn't a possibility to enter port speeds/duplex manually (required to prevent packet loss in video conferencing, I really want to have that option for the peace of mind). I have been looking around on the internet but I can't seem to find this ability any routers' specs. What I need is as follows:
- Has to be Cisco or Linksys router
- Has to be ADSL2+ (Annex A)
- Doesn't have to be wireless, even single port is OK
- Preferably has DMZ
- Ability to hard code lan port speed/duplex (i.e. no autosense)
- No other functions needed so hopefully a cheap option
What should the duplex mode to be set on a routed port gi0/21 that are running HSRP ? I try setting the gi0/21 to full, but it caused the port to be down. The only way for the port to be up is setting it to half duplex.

We recently upgraded the switch to which an old security device was connected. It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly.As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again.Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following issue; I am getting a duplex mismatch between a Cisco 2960 TT-L Switch running IOS 12.2(35) LAN Base Image (Gig0/1) and a Cisco 6506 Switch running IOS 12.2(33)SXH Adv IP Services (Gig2/19).
I have tried several combinations of the duplex/speed settings on both sides but the only that works is setting duplex/speed AUTO on the Cisco 2960 which ends up autonegotiating to HALF duplex and 100Mbps.
We are facing to an annoying issue. We have a 6509 running in Catos 8.3(4) with WS-X6548-GE-TX, WS-X6348-RJ-45 and WS-X6148-RJ-45. When we configure the mode in auto negotiation, it comes up in half duplex. We need to configure the speed mode at 100Mbit/Full to make it work. But if the chassis or port restarts (not the server), the link becomes half duplex. This happens only on module in Gigabyte like WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Cable have been replaced but does not work. It is not happened on another chassis running on IOS 12.2(18)SXF17b with WS-X6548-GE-TX.
I currently own 3 Dlink DWL-3200AP that are setup on MultiSSiD with Vlans 1 and 2. I just picked up 3 Cisco 3550 layer 3 switches. I also own a Cisco ASA 5505 (acting as a router) which is connected to the internet. The 3 switches are connected using the GiBi connectors to each other. They are across the campus from each other, one switch is in the room of the router. Each switch has 1 of the Access points on them.
What I am trying to do is setup the switches to take SSiD 1(Vlan1) to have access for the entire network and have SSiD 2(Vlan2) just hit the router for internet.
I have all static IP's setup on the SSiD 1(Vlan1) connections, and I want to have a DCHP server for the SSid 2(Vlan2).I setup in the Cisco Network Assistant, for the 3550's to have VLAN 1 be port 48 and VLan 2 be port 47 going to the router.
What is currently happening is that if I connect to the SSiD1(Vlan1) I can access all of the switches and the router no problem. When I connect to SSiD2(Vlan2) I cannot connect to anything, ping or otherwise. I figure it might be something in the Access Point but at this point I am hitting my head on a wall trying to figure out what is going on.
Can we force the Gigabit Ethernet port to be 1000 full duplex in Cisco Catalyst Express 500 series?

All routed (no spanning-tree at all).Now...I have to add an IBM BladeCenter with a BNT layer 3 switch to my topology. However, those nasties don't seem to support routed ports.How can I have a routed port on my cisco switch and a standard access port on the BNT and still establish an adjacency with an SVI? I am running OSPF, but I am labbing this in my home lab with 2 x 3550s and EIGRP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an e4200 with the latest firmware 2.1.39. I just upgraded the firmware due to connection issues with my DSL. I now have the same issues with disconnects but I believe they are being caused by a different issue. When I try and log into my router through the IP address it wont let me, it says it can't find the router. Eventually after getting in the first time by using the default password, I have twice found out that all my settings are gone. This has happened twice this week and only happened after upgrading the firmware but I can not tell if firmware is causing it or if it is hardware related. I now reboot and restore saved firmware but that is a hassle and am pretty sure that is not the way it was designed to work.

If no - I assume that one would enable L3 routing with that config command.In general terms are there any IOS devices where ip routing is enabled and one would not see the "ip routing" command in config. Now I'm trying to configure routing between 2800 and 3550, I tried connecting both Straight Throught and Crossover cables to the 2800 Fa0/0 and Fa0/1 ports as well as the switchports on 3550
No switchport commands are configured however, the lights do not go on for both straight through or crossover cables. I tried connecting 1750 routers but same result. My goal is to have all the VLANS routed to the internet with configuring NAT translation the router.

I'm having some problems setting up vlans to talk to each other on a 3550-12T switch. Its quite a simple setup I have, but I need to split my network up.
Currently I have a network of 192.168.25.0 255.255.255.0 I want to create a new vlan network of 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0 So I have configured my vlan1 (default vlan) to have an ip of 192.168.25.250 for getting to the management page
I have created a vlan2 of 192.168.30.1 255.255.255.0 ?I have a port 10 linked to one of my 3560G's?In port 9 which is on vlan2 I have my pc plugged in with a static ip of 192.168.30.50 from the router I can ping any device on 192.168.25.x.
I can not ping 192.168.30.1 (which is my vlan2) nor can i ping the PC.
I have enabled ip routing But I dont have a default route, this is becase we don't have a router on the network.
I've been working with these two Cisco devices in my home off and on for several months now but I just can't take it anymore, I'm about to throw them away and go back to Linksys router.
I have a Cisco 2600 Router with only one Ethernet card in it so I have to trunk from my 3550 Switch to that device. I'd like to have my ISP and all users plug into switch and all trunk back to the router's sub interfaces. Port F0/24 is in VLAN 1, as are all ports but Port F0/1 which is my desktop PC. I mocked it up in Packet Tracer and it works just fine. This is just a simple setup and I'm making sure I can ping between switch and router before I move to each next step.
