Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 - In Auto Negotiation Mode It Comes Up In Half Duplex

We are facing to an annoying issue. We have a 6509 running in Catos 8.3(4) with WS-X6548-GE-TX, WS-X6348-RJ-45 and WS-X6148-RJ-45. When we configure the mode in auto negotiation, it comes up in half duplex. We need to configure the speed mode at 100Mbit/Full to make it work. But if the chassis or port restarts (not the server), the link becomes half duplex. This happens only on module in Gigabyte like WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Cable have been replaced but does not work. It is not happened on another chassis running on IOS 12.2(18)SXF17b with WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Nexus 5500 support auto negotiation on 1gig sfp port? There is an end device that only support auto negotiation and cannot be manually set speed/duplex.
We recently upgraded the switch to which an old security device was connected. It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly.As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again.Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?
I am doing an small project, I have to connect 4 cisco switches SF 302-08 (1 GBIC each one) to a core switch SGE 2000 (4 GBICs). Because of cable length I have go connect all 5 switches with fiber. The fiber termination is multimode LC duplex. My confusion is on the mini GBICs. There is compatibilities issues i been reading. [code]
What should the duplex mode to be set on a routed port gi0/21 that are running HSRP ? I try setting the gi0/21 to full, but it caused the port to be down. The only way for the port to be up is setting it to half duplex.

I've a D-Link DFE-520TX PCI Fast Ethernet card, which is/was excellent until this first problem. 2 nights ago there was some good lightning/thunders activity, resulting in burning of ISP network switches. This morning they replaced the switches and brought up the network, but here's the problem:1) Under the default card setting with Auto-negotiation, PC looks for DCHP Server address resolution and ends up with YELLOW triangle in the system tray.2) Whereas, when I CHANGE the card setting to 10Base in FullDuplex, then PC gets connected to the ISP network.ISP support said that either the card could be damaged due to lightning strike or it could be due to damaged cable running from port box to the PC (RJ-45). I'm wondering, could lightning strike damage a Network card in such a partial manner (just one feature, i.e., Auto-negotiation)? But that person warned, there will be deterioration in ISP speeds when I use 10Base in Full Duplex (for now) compared to Auto-negotiation speeds. Speeds really came down badly, that's understood.
confirm if "negotiation auto" is supported gigabit port for C3925E router.

On RV016 router WAN port 1 is showing Half duplex wen i check it in Port setup but when i check it on Port status its showing me as Half duplex, how can we force it to make it full duplex.
I have a 7604 Edge router that connects to our Data centre via Fiber.
but i keep getting input errors on the interface Gi3/5. i also found out that i cannot change the duplex settings on the edge router to auto, i only have two options of full and half and changing it has not worked either.
I have tried to use a switch in between the fiber modem and the edge router to try to manipulate the duplex settings, but when i tried it the port simply shutdown and then i have to reverse the configuration.
The software version of the router is 12.2(33)SRE3, i really need to sort this out as connection to and from the Data centre is quite slow.
I have 6509 E. Actually what happen it last 3-4 times it reload its self and got stuck in rommon mode, i tried to boot it with boot by connecting a console cable on supervisor 720 2b. What and where is problem and why is stuck in rommon after reload.
My current production network is setup using VTP in Client mode, and I am looking to enable VTP Transparent so I can enable the extended VLANs. My main question would be, would enabling VTP Transparent on my 6509 affect all of the access switches it is connected to? And if so, would changing all of the access switches to VTP Transparent allow them to regain connectivity quickly with little downtime? Or is there another way that I should be handling this situation to enable the extended VLANs?
I'm working at a company that has several 6509 switches running CatOS. They have two of the 6509's running in vtp server mode and the rest as clients. I set up a new vlan from one of the vtp servers and it propagated out. The problem comes when I try to assign a port on one of the vtp clients to this new vlan. It gives me an error that the switch must be in vtp server mode to add/delete vlans. I'm not trying to add/or delete a vlan just trying to add a port into an existing vlan. I'm hesitant to put the switch in vtp server mode. Is this a CatOS thing or is there a specific command to accomplish this?
We have a cisco catalyst 6509 with Supervisor Engine . After power outage, the switch always start in Rommon mode. Configuration register is 0X2102, we want to it always start in normal mode. What should i do?
I'm having a problem with some new gear and can't seem to figure it out. I have a 3750X-48P-S with a C3KX-10G-NM using SFP-10G-LR transceivers and I'm trying to trunk that with a 6509 that has a X2-10G-LR transceiver over single mode fiber. This is not working. Cisco TAC says the SFP+'s that we just got brand new are both bad and we need to order new ones. I find that hard to believe but who knows.
The switch recognized the module and I tested all 4 ports in gigabit mode using GLC-SX-MM transceivers, all worked great. I have the SFP+'s in tengig1/1/1 and 1/1/2 as they should be. There are no other SFP's in the module either.
When I do a sho int tengig1/1/1 and 1/1/2 the media type doesn't show the transceiver that is installed like it does for the GLC-SX-MM ones. Maybe it's not supposed to or maybe it just doesn't recognize them and it's a hardware issue.
I have a question about speed negotiation process between interfaces. I have 3650X Sw and 2960S-48port. All ports of two are GigabitEthernet, however the link between them is only 100Mb/s, Full duplex. I try to set the speed 1000 Mb/s manually in the interface then the interface never up. Its status is down/down. I must set back to speed auto. I show interface Gigabit0/24 in Sw 3650-X and figure out that there are many output drop (over 600000). I clear counter then after two days the output drop is over 70000. This link is trunk link between two switches, all ports of access SW are Gigabit and connect to PC. First, I thinks the 3650X is throttled somewhere in output direction of trunk link. But there is another trunk link (Gi0/23) to another 2960S-48port and no output drop number in this interface. This Giga 0/23 speed is 1000 Mb/s (auto speed, auto duplex)
Does any outside things impact the speed negotiation process between 2 interfaces? And output drop number may caused by abnormal speed between two Gigabit interface?
I'm a Cisco newbie and I'm in the following situation:
1>The router (867) must connect to my ISP in 1483 bridged (2684 bridged) mode, LLC, VPI/VCI 0/35 2>WAN IP will be assigned by ISP (DHCP) 3>No username and password required to establish the connection 4>MAC-Cloning is advised, not required 5>Firewall behind 867, WAN IP should be assigned to WAN interface firewall, connection established by 867 6>867 router will be used as a switch, so no NAT required. NAT will be setup on the firewall 7>Connection type: Analog (annex A)
The required setup can be fixed by configuring the 867 in half-bridged mode, but I don't no how and I don't know exactly how to config the 867 in bridged mode.
First, it's even hard to setup a good bridged config.

[code] Can't find any wrong with the switch ports and AP's that can result in Duplex mismatch.The only difference I can find is the AP that is in all duplex missm. log's is used for other Mesh AP's to connect to.
I have C3750X with C3KX-NM-10G, and have-T SFP in slot 3 ( means it is not in SFP+ slot ).I need to set speed&duplex hard to 100/Full, but if I do the link goes down. I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine.The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. I cannot seem to correct a duplex mismatch issue.I have a Cisco 2950 switch connected to a Cisco 2621 router. I am running a per-interface Vlan. I have two fastethernet ports and one NM-1E card installed on the router. One fastethernet port is connected to my gateway router, the second fastethernet port is connected to my switch for one Vlan. The NM-1E Ethernet card is being used for the second Vlan which consists of nine IP cameras. Though the cameras on the Vlan are working fine.Now, the NM-1E card is set to half-duplex. I know that I should be using a fastethernet module like a 1FE 2W or a 2FE 2W card, (which I have,) but the router does not recogonize either one of these cards when they are installed, and yes, they have been confirmed as good cards.
Using Router-on-a-Stick configuration is out due to the bandwidth contention besides the fact that the router I am using it on will not handle this due to the flash being an older version.I have forced the switchport to half duplex, setting the speed to 10. I was getting fewer error messages at first, but they soon increased back to the frequency that they began with.I have set the switchport to duplex auto, but this failed to resolve the issue.Obviously, I cannot force the switchport into duplex full since the NM-1E interface is set to half duplex. Can the NM-1E card be configured to full duplex? I can't seem to find any documentation showing where it can be forced to full duplex mode.Could nine IP cameras just be too much for both the router and switch to handle?
I have a 4503 switch (in L2 mode) running 12.1 hooked into a C2950 running 12.1, using regular 4 pair Cat5e cables to connect between them. The 4503 has Gigabit port 2/1 trunking to the 2950's Fa port 0/13.
When I set the duplex mode to DUPLEX FULL and SPEED to SPEED 100 on both switches (for their trunk ports) the link fails, and my 4503 loses connectivity (since it gets it from the 2950).

1 week ago, I got a call from a client that reported a network outage, the client told me that, 3 switch has crashed he try to console but it just hang. I ask him, did you change something? he said he didn't change anything, he just pluged a nortelswitch to the cisco switch number 9, but that switch doesn't crash like the others (3,4,8). I check the uptime, and yes the switch never been powered off..

the vlan is end to end vlan, so vlan span between all those switches. transparant. this is collapsed topology, core and distribution is the 6500 itself all of the 1-9 access switch are in the same rack, with no loopguard, and bpdu guard configured. and connected to the core using etherchannel. the problem is there is no log available to start the troubleshooting/investigation.
So basically I have a C877 and a Cisco ASA 5505 and I want to push the public IP of the ISP to the outside interface of the ASA so the Cisco 877 will only be responsible for ADSL and PPPoA. Don't ask me why I don' t use a modem/router instead. I know that is a waste to use the C877 in this way but I want to test the setup.
Right now the config of the C877 regarding ADSL and PPPoA looks like that ( I don't have the ASA connected yet, so all the PC are connected directly to the C877 right now):

how I should configure the C877 to push the public IP to the ASA?
I have the following issue; I am getting a duplex mismatch between a Cisco 2960 TT-L Switch running IOS 12.2(35) LAN Base Image (Gig0/1) and a Cisco 6506 Switch running IOS 12.2(33)SXH Adv IP Services (Gig2/19).
I have tried several combinations of the duplex/speed settings on both sides but the only that works is setting duplex/speed AUTO on the Cisco 2960 which ends up autonegotiating to HALF duplex and 100Mbps.
I currently have a couple of 6509 chassis (router/switches) with the following hardware blades:
x3 48 ports x1 NAM x2 Sup720 Running 12.2(18)SXF3
I am keeping the four Sup720 modules and have purchased new versions of the others blades including two new 6509-E chassis?Can I take my stand-by Sup720 out of the production machine and insert it into the new chassis?
