View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently upgraded the switch to which an old security device was connected. It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly. As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again. Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe are facing to an annoying issue. We have a 6509 running in Catos 8.3(4) with WS-X6548-GE-TX, WS-X6348-RJ-45 and WS-X6148-RJ-45. When we configure the mode in auto negotiation, it comes up in half duplex. We need to configure the speed mode at 100Mbit/Full to make it work. But if the chassis or port restarts (not the server), the link becomes half duplex. This happens only on module in Gigabyte like WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Cable have been replaced but does not work. It is not happened on another chassis running on IOS 12.2(18)SXF17b with WS-X6548-GE-TX.
I have the following configurations for switch to switch connectivety. sh int sh config int
2960 will not take full duplex setting.

So I recently got a new computer today and it won't let me use my 100mbps of internet bandwidth. (Asus Sabertooth Z77 with an Intel 82579v gigabit lan controller) I noticed that at the LAN connection properties>Properties>Configure>Link Speed tab the 'Speed and Duplex' option was on Auto Negotiation and it was only accepting (or supporting) the 10mbps Full Duplex. When I switched it to 100mbps Full Duplex it would mark my connection icon with a red cross and when I clicked diagnose it said "Please connect your ethernet cable or your cable might be broken". So I tested my internet speed with that same cable on a different computer (laptop) and it worked with 40Mbps, so I don't think the cable is broken. Also I just recently downloaded some drivers but one was specifically for the Intel LAN controller but I'm a total noob for all of this computer stuff I don't know if it messed it up or something. Is it the motherboard that's not working correctly?

I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine. The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. Also port capabilities do not indicate duplex could not be set to full:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 100 mbps fiber connection. I bought 320N today I bought 320N and here is the problem:
We have a switch in the building. I am getting connection via CAT5. So I choosed "Use as WAN Port" from Ethernet settings. There is not much you can do here. I just used PPPoE and connected internet without any problem. The problem is I am only getting 32mbps. When I connect CAT5 cable directly to my computer I am getting 92mbps.
Maybe WAG320N is not establishing a full duplex connection.
Can we force the Gigabit Ethernet port to be 1000 full duplex in Cisco Catalyst Express 500 series?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhich is the last software release for WS-C2940-8TF-S?
I have:
IOS (tm) C2940 Software (C2940-I6Q4L2-M), Version 12.1(22)EA8a, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
we have a 4510r-e running 12.2(50)SG1 w/ various rj45 line cards and a 24 port glc card.at any given time, i see 10's of ports in 10/full.i go to the station, and find the station in 100/full or 1000/full.
i go to the switch w/ my fluke, connect it directly to the switch w/o any intermediate infrastructure except a 50cm cat6 patch cable.the fluke reports 1000/full, but THE SWITCH PORT REPORTS STILL 10/FULL.all ports are config'd 'speed auto' and 'duplex auto'.
the switch seems to be erroneously reporting 10/full.there are no errors logged on any of the ports and there is successful communications even when the station and switch port report different speeds.even though there are no errors logged nor reported by 'show int [port]' nor 'sho int count error' certain killer applications crash on some stations. (the applications are GHOST (which dumps disk images from a server to multiple stations) and NETOP (which i sused in a classroom to transmit an instructors screen to a room full of stations) both of which broadcast and/or multicast.all nodes involved in the above 2 applics are on the same vlan and same phyiscal subnet.
the ports which report 10/full vary and occur even when the above applics are not in use.the only way i found to clear this 10/full report is by either a hardware reset of the entire module or by unplugging the cable, the execute on the port shutdown, speed auto, no shutdown, reconnect cable.then it's just a matter of time until it pops back to 10/full in a few minutes, hours or days.
how to address the killer applic problems besides restructuring the whole net by defining separate vlan for each lab of 20 or so stations?
I ran into a strange problem. When I want to change the ethernet0 interface of a Cisco 828 sdsl router, but there is no command to do that in the interface configuration mode (speed 100 and duplex full). A show interface gives 10MB half duplex and I want to change this.
This is the running config (a little censored):

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 7604 Edge router that connects to our Data centre via Fiber.
but i keep getting input errors on the interface Gi3/5. i also found out that i cannot change the duplex settings on the edge router to auto, i only have two options of full and half and changing it has not worked either.
I have tried to use a switch in between the fiber modem and the edge router to try to manipulate the duplex settings, but when i tried it the port simply shutdown and then i have to reverse the configuration.
The software version of the router is 12.2(33)SRE3, i really need to sort this out as connection to and from the Data centre is quite slow.
In LMS I have a 6513 with several sx 1000 interface setup for etherchannel to catalyst 3750
both sides are set for autoduplex but LMS reports that there is a link duplex mismatch. We just installed the latest patches for the LMS 4.0.1
we have over 100 AP1242 with c1240-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2 image, tow 5508 controller and WCS running. After the ap reboots, the duplex settings of the fa0 interface change to half duplex. I have to set it manually to full duplex. In my WCS or with the 5508 controller I have no chance to set the duplex settings for my ap's.

When I took a closer look, two switches (switches 1 & 3) are reporting that they have a duplex mismatch to a device connected to a downstream switch (switch 2). View 8 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to correct a duplex mismatch issue.I have a Cisco 2950 switch connected to a Cisco 2621 router. I am running a per-interface Vlan. I have two fastethernet ports and one NM-1E card installed on the router. One fastethernet port is connected to my gateway router, the second fastethernet port is connected to my switch for one Vlan. The NM-1E Ethernet card is being used for the second Vlan which consists of nine IP cameras. Though the cameras on the Vlan are working fine. Now, the NM-1E card is set to half-duplex. I know that I should be using a fastethernet module like a 1FE 2W or a 2FE 2W card, (which I have,) but the router does not recogonize either one of these cards when they are installed, and yes, they have been confirmed as good cards.
Using Router-on-a-Stick configuration is out due to the bandwidth contention besides the fact that the router I am using it on will not handle this due to the flash being an older version.I have forced the switchport to half duplex, setting the speed to 10. I was getting fewer error messages at first, but they soon increased back to the frequency that they began with.I have set the switchport to duplex auto, but this failed to resolve the issue.Obviously, I cannot force the switchport into duplex full since the NM-1E interface is set to half duplex. Can the NM-1E card be configured to full duplex? I can't seem to find any documentation showing where it can be forced to full duplex mode.Could nine IP cameras just be too much for both the router and switch to handle?
I have a 4503 switch (in L2 mode) running 12.1 hooked into a C2950 running 12.1, using regular 4 pair Cat5e cables to connect between them. The 4503 has Gigabit port 2/1 trunking to the 2950's Fa port 0/13.
When I set the duplex mode to DUPLEX FULL and SPEED to SPEED 100 on both switches (for their trunk ports) the link fails, and my 4503 loses connectivity (since it gets it from the 2950).
Here is my config from the switches (per description):
The 4503:
interface GigabitEthernet2/1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,2,100-140
[Code].....
Note, this is the only mode that works (which seems to work fine, but I get TERRIBLE throughput for anything that goes over the 2950.

I'm a Cisco newbie and I'm in the following situation:
1>The router (867) must connect to my ISP in 1483 bridged (2684 bridged) mode, LLC, VPI/VCI 0/35
2>WAN IP will be assigned by ISP (DHCP)
3>No username and password required to establish the connection
4>MAC-Cloning is advised, not required
5>Firewall behind 867, WAN IP should be assigned to WAN interface firewall, connection established by 867
6>867 router will be used as a switch, so no NAT required. NAT will be setup on the firewall
7>Connection type: Analog (annex A)
The required setup can be fixed by configuring the 867 in half-bridged mode, but I don't no how and I don't know exactly how to config the 867 in bridged mode.
First, it's even hard to setup a good bridged config.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a video conferencing device and I struggled a lot with a bunch of different routers. I was giving up but then I plugged in a friend's old Linksys/Cisco Adsl gateway and all the problems disappeared (kudos to Cisco). The problem is that the gateway is not ADSL2+. I have since borrowed a Linksys/Cisco ADSL2+ router, however, there isn't a possibility to enter port speeds/duplex manually (required to prevent packet loss in video conferencing, I really want to have that option for the peace of mind). I have been looking around on the internet but I can't seem to find this ability any routers' specs. What I need is as follows:
- Has to be Cisco or Linksys router
- Has to be ADSL2+ (Annex A)
- Doesn't have to be wireless, even single port is OK
- Preferably has DMZ
- Ability to hard code lan port speed/duplex (i.e. no autosense)
- No other functions needed so hopefully a cheap option
I am doing an small project, I have to connect 4 cisco switches SF 302-08 (1 GBIC each one) to a core switch SGE 2000 (4 GBICs). Because of cable length I have go connect all 5 switches with fiber. The fiber termination is multimode LC duplex. My confusion is on the mini GBICs. There is compatibilities issues i been reading. [code]
