Mar 6, 2012if I have a half duplex 10 mbs connection, is the max speed to download a large file 5 mbs or would the download tend to hog the channel direction?

It worked fine on the old switch's FastEthernet port, which was configured for speed 10 and duplex half, as that is what the device required. The new switch is a 3560X with all Gigabit ports, but the security device's port, also configured with speed 10 and duplex half, does not connect properly.As a temporary test, we daisychained another switch that has FastEthernet ports, and the security device works again.Is there anything else that needs to be added to the configuration, when using Gigabit ports at 10/half?

Jun 11, 2012We are facing to an annoying issue. We have a 6509 running in Catos 8.3(4) with WS-X6548-GE-TX, WS-X6348-RJ-45 and WS-X6148-RJ-45. When we configure the mode in auto negotiation, it comes up in half duplex. We need to configure the speed mode at 100Mbit/Full to make it work. But if the chassis or port restarts (not the server), the link becomes half duplex. This happens only on module in Gigabyte like WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Cable have been replaced but does not work. It is not happened on another chassis running on IOS 12.2(18)SXF17b with WS-X6548-GE-TX.
Internet Disconnects When Downloading Large Files?
May 16, 2012Currently im on a 60mb download speed and 6mb upload speed on an Alienware M15x (Windows 7) and attempting to re-download World of Warcraft... Every time I open World of Warcraft to continue the download it will disconnect all sources from the router (I'm downloading via wireless) including the wired connection through the computer in the other room. Its really annoying everyone when were attempting to download and disconnects people...

Oct 11, 2011I have an RVS4000, and have been unable to update my iPad with the new iOS verison because the download of the update file keeps timing out. The file actually gets to the end of the download, but then times out before completion.
My RVS4000 is being used in gateway mode and is connected to another cable modem. When I connect my computer directly to the cable modem, the download completes without issue.
I've turned the IPS off.My patience is running out, as I've tried just about everything (firmware update, reboot, signature update, etc.). When I contact support, they want me to pay $79 to open a ticket. The router costs $120.

Dec 29, 2011I'm presently experiencing an issue with my Latitude E5410 notebook where the NIC disconnects during large file transfers. For instance, if I were to copy a large file (50+ MB) from a network drive (or vice versa, copy a 50+ MB file from my notebook to the network drive), the network icon in my taskbar suddenly changes to "No Network Access", the transfer fails, and I can't access any network resources until restarting my workstation.
At first I thought it was the network backbone in our office (SonicWALL Gateway + Dell PowerConnect switches), but this error also occurs at my house with my own networking equipment (D-Link) and NAS. The Latitude E5410 notebook is running Window 7 Professional SP1 and has a built-in "Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller", and a "Dell DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card". However, this issue seems to only occur with the Broadcom adapter when I'm physically connected to our network; when the Broadcom adapter disconnects, I can connect to our local wifi network and access network resources.
System Freezes When Downloading File On Wireless Only
Jan 16, 2011I have been having a few problems with my IBM T42 Laptop for a while now. I was originally running Windows XP on this system and about 12 months ago I installed Ubuntu 9 on it to mess around a bit with the OS and have a basic, non-Microsoft laptop in the house that I could use for browing the web and IM, etc... The laptop needed a clean install anway as Windows XP was running like a dog. Originally it was dual boot but once I got happy with Ubuntu I did a clean install and everything worked reasonably well. I had a few issues with the wireless LAN adapter and compatibilty, but sorted it out following a few forums (firware updates, driver updates) and everything was great. I upgraded to the Ubuntu 10.04 OS and then started having some issues. Essentially my browser would freeze randomly. Again, I visted the forums and had no joy in sorting out the problem. I reverted the OS back to Ubuntu 9 and the problem persisted. So I gave up on it totally around 6 months ago.
Last week I fired up the laptop again and decided I would use the IBM restore utility and the disks I created a couple of years ago to put on a clean install of Windows XP and see how things went. So far I have done all the Windows XP updates (SP3, etc...), I have been to the Lenovo website and updated all drivers, firmware, BIOS, etc... every little problem I have had has been sorted with a software or firmware update which I have successfully implemented. All niggles have been sorted bar one.The only problem I have left now is very odd. Everything works fine and at reasonable speed considering the age and specs of my system. When I connect via cable to my router/modem all network and internet services work fine. I have had no issues. But when I connect via wireless, intermittently my system will completely freeze - no errors, no logs - nothing. No sounds, just frozen screen. Hard reboot is the only thing that I can do to get back online.Further investigating the issue - the freezing occurs when I click on a link to download something. I can browse anything - I have tried videos (youtube) and have no problems at all - but if I click to download a file (software upgrade pack, pdf document, Qucktime player) the system freezes up and ONLY when connected wirelessly via the inbuilt Cisco Wireless LAN adapter. The file copy is working fine with my Ethernet connection however.The symptom is as follow. I cannot copy large file from a share to the computer. The copy starts then after a while (let's say 30MB copy over a 100MB file) it stops with the error 'File copy error: The network name is no longer available'. When this occurs, I still have my wireless card connected and I can ping my computer from the controller.I tried to adjust some radio settings (channel, power on the AP I'm connected to) because we have a large wireless network here, but no success. I also update the wireless card driver, create a new SSID, etc. No success at all. However the copy went fine for small file size.

So I can copy a file off the server and onto my local machine. I make my edits and then try to upload it to the server. I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. I have tried shutting down my code editor, opening and closing the connection, tried different methods of reaching the server (Cyberduck and through Window's map network feature) to no avail. Nov 6, 2012So I recently got a new computer today and it won't let me use my 100mbps of internet bandwidth. (Asus Sabertooth Z77 with an Intel 82579v gigabit lan controller) I noticed that at the LAN connection properties>Properties>Configure>Link Speed tab the 'Speed and Duplex' option was on Auto Negotiation and it was only accepting (or supporting) the 10mbps Full Duplex. When I switched it to 100mbps Full Duplex it would mark my connection icon with a red cross and when I clicked diagnose it said "Please connect your ethernet cable or your cable might be broken". So I tested my internet speed with that same cable on a different computer (laptop) and it worked with 40Mbps, so I don't think the cable is broken. Also I just recently downloaded some drivers but one was specifically for the Intel LAN controller but I'm a total noob for all of this computer stuff I don't know if it messed it up or something. Is it the motherboard that's not working correctly?

but i keep getting input errors on the interface Gi3/5. i also found out that i cannot change the duplex settings on the edge router to auto, i only have two options of full and half and changing it has not worked either.
I have tried to use a switch in between the fiber modem and the edge router to try to manipulate the duplex settings, but when i tried it the port simply shutdown and then i have to reverse the configuration.
The software version of the router is 12.2(33)SRE3, i really need to sort this out as connection to and from the Data centre is quite slow.

I have the same settings on the other side, only IOS version is different.I tried other speeds - 10 and 1000, but no one works with Full. When I change duplex to Auto it works fine.The reason why I am doing this on C3KX-NM-10G is because I need to use NetFlow and cannot use the chassis' copper port. At the moment the ports are connected through a copper patch cord, but in full production there will be a radio link in between that requires 100M/Full to be set hard.I am trying to search for any document that would describe this limitation, but cannot find any. May 14, 2012I cannot seem to correct a duplex mismatch issue.I have a Cisco 2950 switch connected to a Cisco 2621 router. I am running a per-interface Vlan. I have two fastethernet ports and one NM-1E card installed on the router. One fastethernet port is connected to my gateway router, the second fastethernet port is connected to my switch for one Vlan. The NM-1E Ethernet card is being used for the second Vlan which consists of nine IP cameras. Though the cameras on the Vlan are working fine.Now, the NM-1E card is set to half-duplex. I know that I should be using a fastethernet module like a 1FE 2W or a 2FE 2W card, (which I have,) but the router does not recogonize either one of these cards when they are installed, and yes, they have been confirmed as good cards.
Using Router-on-a-Stick configuration is out due to the bandwidth contention besides the fact that the router I am using it on will not handle this due to the flash being an older version.I have forced the switchport to half duplex, setting the speed to 10. I was getting fewer error messages at first, but they soon increased back to the frequency that they began with.I have set the switchport to duplex auto, but this failed to resolve the issue.Obviously, I cannot force the switchport into duplex full since the NM-1E interface is set to half duplex. Can the NM-1E card be configured to full duplex? I can't seem to find any documentation showing where it can be forced to full duplex mode.Could nine IP cameras just be too much for both the router and switch to handle?
