Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upload Large ACLs To NX-OS Nexus 7009?

Feb 3, 2013

We are migrating from Catalyst 6509 IOS platforms to Nexus 7009. There's the normal differences in commands which is well doucumented. We do have some quite large files containing ACLs varying from 10's of lines to several 1000's of lines. Our normal upload would be done using tftp and then issuing the command 'conf net' on the the 6509. This is no longer the way to do this on NX-OS. I've tried copy ftp: running-config which works fine for small files but for big ones it takes a long time, in some cases I've see it takes 20-30 minutes. The initilal tftp uplaod to the 7009 seems OK but the copy into the running-config is the bit that takes time and initially I thought I'd killed the 7009!! It did finally come back to the prompt. Are the 7009's simply not designed for large ACLs? I did try the configure session (Session Manager) but I couldn't see a way of uploading a file. I tried creating a new session and then exiting it, copying in a file of the same format and then commiting it but it didn't seem to acknowledge the file (checksum?).

Dell :: Latitude E5410 - NIC Disconnects During Large File Transfers

Dec 29, 2011

I'm presently experiencing an issue with my Latitude E5410 notebook where the NIC disconnects during large file transfers. For instance, if I were to copy a large file (50+ MB) from a network drive (or vice versa, copy a 50+ MB file from my notebook to the network drive), the network icon in my taskbar suddenly changes to "No Network Access", the transfer fails, and I can't access any network resources until restarting my workstation.

At first I thought it was the network backbone in our office (SonicWALL Gateway + Dell PowerConnect switches), but this error also occurs at my house with my own networking equipment (D-Link) and NAS. The Latitude E5410 notebook is running Window 7 Professional SP1 and has a built-in "Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller", and a "Dell DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card". However, this issue seems to only occur with the Broadcom adapter when I'm physically connected to our network; when the Broadcom adapter disconnects, I can connect to our local wifi network and access network resources.

Cisco Wireless :: 1130AG Cannot Copy Large File From A Share To Computer

Sep 15, 2010

we just deployed a cisco wireless solution with WLC4404-100, WCS, and a bunch of 1130AP and I experience some problem with file copy under windows xp. The file copy is working fine with my Ethernet connection however. The symptom is as follow. I cannot copy large file from a share to the computer. The copy starts then after a while (let's say 30MB copy over a 100MB file) it stops with the error 'File copy error: The network name is no longer available'. When this occurs, I still have my wireless card connected and I can ping my computer from the controller.I tried to adjust some radio settings (channel, power on the AP I'm connected to) because we have a large wireless network here, but no success. I also update the wireless card driver, create a new SSID, etc. No success at all. However the copy went fine for small file size.

Every time I upload a zip or far, the file comes out ends up being uploaded corrupt and double the original file size. I have used 2 FTP clients, using either ASCII or binary. No matter how I go about it, I can't make the files upload at the normal file size. Its not just archives, however, I tried an mp3 and it too got uploaded corrupt and double the size. D-Link DIR-655 :: 4 Mbps Upload Via CAT5 But Only 1 Mbps Upload Via N-format Wireless?

Jun 30, 2011

I just upgraded my cable modem from the Motorola Sufboard 5120 to the DOCSIS 3.0 capable 6120. Provisioned it with Comcast and their "Blast" service (supposedly it caps at 16 down, 2 up).

I had, in the past, used my desktop via N-format wireless (DWA-525 N-format PCI adapter and DIR-655 N-format router) to do a speedtest.net test. I was getting 16 down and 2 up (as advertised). When I switched to the 6120, I did a speedtest.net test again to see what kind of gains, if any, I was getting.  Turns out, I was getting 20+ down (nice improvement) and 1/2 Mbps up (a fourth of what I used to be getting?). Called Comcast. They "sent signals" (don't they always?) and claimed that it fixed it. My download speeds increased a smidge (about 22), but my upload speeds were still .5. Called Motorola, they had me do a few things and now I get 1 Mbps up and 27 - 30 down via wireless.

My download speeds are great. I'm content with that. If I hardwire from the cable modem directly to a ****py old laptop, a speedtest.net shows 4 Mbps up. So why do I get such a high upload speed when hardwired (4 Mbps), but a fraction of it (1/4th) when wireless? I'm not using any other devices to sap bandwidth (some are connected -- i.e. another desktop, my Droid phone, etc., but aren't actively pulling packets). And why would it go from 2 up (on my desktop via wireless in the past) to only 1 up (via wireless now) when the setup is the same across the board (as best I recall) other than upgrading my cable modem.

Since I get 4 up when hardwired straight off the cable modem, I assume my DIR-655 is slowing me down somehow. How to pick up the pace a bit? I've already tried the standard "power cycling", etc.

Oh, and the reason I go wireless -- my cable modem and wireless router are in my game room in the basement for my PS3. My desktop computer (and the wife's desktop computer) are two floors directly above it in our "office".  Signal strength is "excellent" ... always has been.  And again, pretty much everything is the same.

How To Deploy Large Wireless Network

Apr 11, 2013

deploying a large wireless network (about 14 access points) spread across 9 buildings that are in relative close proximity to each other. I have included a picture with a rough scale (it's editable, so feel free to play around with it). Anyways, here is the basic idea. I do basic IT consulting for small businesses and some friends of mine work for an apartment complex in my local area. They came to me with this idea of deploying a wireless network on the campus to provide their tenants with "free" basic wireless internet. Basic meaning, not intended to be a replacement for a private connection. But suitable for basic web browsing, school work (I live in a university town), and email. So I got to scratching my head and quickly realized that I need to dome some learning and refresh on my skills.

Setting Up A Large Wireless Network

Dec 17, 2012

I am trying to set up a network that is over a larger area than I am use to. I have experience setting up wired networks for small and medium sized businesses, as well as setting up multiple access points to cover a larger area. My goal is to set up a work site trailer to provide wireless coverage for a farmer's field. The largest distance I am dealing with is a half a mile. Depending on the field the direction the signal ranges from 90 to 180 degrees. My problem is my lack of experience with the hardware to accomplish this. I am trying to figure out what is the easiest cheapest and most reliable way to accomplish this. Currently my plan is to use a Cisco WAP4410N access point and hooking it up to multiple high gain unidirectional antennas. Is there a reliable website out there to accomplish this without wasting money on trial and error? I don't like starting a project before can this be accomplished? What should I be looking for in an antenna? How many degrees offset should they be? What kind of wire should I be running from the antenna to the access point?

Setting Up A Large Home Network?

l l l l l l l l l l l-blu-ray player
l l l l l l l l l l-xbox 360
l l l l l l l l l

[code]....

and i dont know what switch 2 is yet because my dad ordered it and it has come it yet, all i know is its a linksys Now the big problem I keep having is keeping everything up and running for more than a day. Ive already configured router 2 to a staic ip address of 192.168.1.151 and disabled DHSP server thing which cleared up some of the inital issues I was having. But I continue to be plagued with issues of computers saying there are duplicate names on the network and the internet only working on some devices most of the time and the internet going out completely after a day or two. Now when the internet only goes out for some devices its usually limited to everything thats not hooked directly into router 1.but everything hooked directly into router 1 still has internetand the basic hard restart of everything does nothing to solve the problem. The only real way Ive been able to solve things on a large scale for a short time frame is to unhook everything and setup reouter 1 and the computers that hook into it on day one. come back on day two and setup switch one and comback the next day and so on and so forth. and usually by day 5 everything has worked for about a day or two then Im back with nothing working.

Wireless :: Signals Are Weak For Large Data?

Oct 6, 2012

For my network the way it is setup is one building has the 2 main servers.simple wireless router and a few laptop that connect to it. a Wii and some other devices, all of them share media etc with no issue. Internet is not a problem either. One of the servers has a PCI wireless card and connects to another network.(network2)network 2 is able to share and play all the media off the service lets say 80% of the time.It also has a different internet provider and internet connection is not a problem but the wireless signal strength is low , (2 bars) or -55 to -82 it seams to jump around at.If you try to stream or play too much media it freezes on you. or if 2 devices on network 2 try to play something it freezes as well sometimes though when the signal is good -55 ish there is no issues. There is alot of wireless traffic in the area, i cant change that.and dont really want to buy a ranger extender or something $20 is what I have for parts if anything. If I were to put a 2nd wireless card in server 2 or Server 1 even. Also both the wireless router on network 2 and the pci card on server 2 are physically as close as hey can get.

Failing To Transfer Large Files Over Network?

Nov 24, 2011

I'm trying to transfer files from my wired desktop to my wireless laptop, and smaller files seem to transfer okay. Whenever I try to transfer a really large file, however, the internet and connectivity totally drops on my desktop (which is giving the file) and causes the laptop to lose the file. The desktop computer stays offline for about 1-2 minutes afterward before it either starts up again on its own or I reset the network adapter. I suppose it's important to note as well that the file transfer can fail at the very beginning, in the middle, or even at the very end, but my desktop computer always loses its connection whenever the interruption happens... but sometimes it can successfully get almost all the way through the file transferI tried following some of the steps in this case to confirm that I can ping and do all that jazz to my laptop and all of the services are running, since our problems seem similar. I've disabled all firewalls as well. However, since one computer is actually wired to the router, I don't think the solution will be quite the same

Why Large Speed Difference Between TKIP And AES Encryption

Mar 19, 2011

Unfortunately, running some internet speed tests showed a consistent download speed of less than 400 kbps, although my upload stayed around normal at 4000 kbps. When I switched to TKIP encryption, my link connection slowed down to 54 Mbps (which I'm assuming means it switched to G mode rather than N).However, my speed tests resumed their normal fast speed of downloading at 10,000 kbps or higher, and upload around the same 4000 kbps range.
