Any way to force the router to communicate wirelessly at only 1 or 2 Mbit/sec? I am having trouble connecting to another device, not made by Dlink, and their technical support suggested testing at a lower data rate.

I just switched to a cable modem and the router blinks as if it's communicating with the modem but no internet is getting to the computers connected to the router. I've always left the dlink's settings to default-my 2 macs receive automatic dhcp. If the settings on the dlink have to be changed to communicate with the new cable modem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the firmware 2.10NA. In my home we have about 4 laptops and 4 smartphones connecting to this router wirelessly and 3 of the laptops often lose connection for hours. We have tried unplugging the router and plugging it in again and factory reset and also resetting it through the IP address but the connection doesnt come back. Recently it has gone out for about 3 hours now. Also the wireless LED icon on the router constantly blinks is this normal? On the laptops where theres no connection it says limited connectivity. Is it possible that there is too many devices connected to the router or something. or could this be a problem with the laptops and not the router?

My router is not working wireless. Just stopped working. I hadn't touched anything in the settings. Nothing is picking up it's signal. All the lights are on saying that it SHOULD be working!I checked all the settings and they were as before. I have unplugged it and restarted, I have reset to factory settings and set it back up again but nothing! Works fine on the wire.
recently tried to connect a Samsung BD-EM57C blu-ray player to my wireless network. I have a D-Link WBR-1310. Have one desktop, Smart tv currently on network --no problems. Blu ray will find my network but cannot connect. "unable to connect enter ip address manually" which I did. Fail. "enter subnet mask" which I did. Fail. I have the following problem. I bought two TP-LINK TG-3269 gigabit cards, placed them in two computers and connected them directly. On my Ubuntu system I used iperf tool and measured only 95 Mbit/s. It wont go any faster, I tried many times with different settings.
The indicator lamp shows 1000 Mbit/s.
we have some (2) HP Notebooks with a Broadcon 4313 b/g/n WLAN Chip and use the latest drivers (2012). This Chip can provide up to 72 mbit/s with 2,4 ghz.
If we connect this notebooks to a Aironet 2600 AP (10 feet distance) the Windows 7 WLAN Dialog shows 72 Mbit/s for 3 seconds and than only 5.5 Mbit. Others (newer) Laptops show 450 Mbit. The WLAN works with WPA2/AES and PSK. The speed doesn't go up, if we copy a big file to the laptop.

Connection speed on the Laptop Studio used to be 60 Mbit wireless . Haven’t checked speed for many week but yesterday foundout that the speed dropped to 12 MB. Wired the laptop to the router, connection wend up to 98 Mbit.
Wireless again the speed dropped to 12 MBit. Checked the wireless connection with another laptop and it went up again to 70 Mbit. What could be wrong on the Studio 1555?
Cleaned the computer, no malware, Mode AP, Channel 11, WPA2

The card works but the 12 Mbit should be at least 60 Mbit.
I'm currently using an orange livebox which has been pretty reliable in the past. My set up is livebox > homeplug > homeplug > linksys wireless router > into 2 pcs.Its odd because my pcs have trouble detecting the wireless router, however my laptop can link up no problems.I have plugged my laptop directly into the livebox via ethernet and it works fine so I can rule out the livebox. I've also swapped the cables and they all work ok.Basically, it does link up intermittently and runs perfectly, but then after a day, or even 10 minutes it disconnects and I have a nightmare getting it to work again. I went through the entire cable system and got right to the end and hey presto it all worked...so I plugged my pcs back in. Then after about 10 mins it lost the network connection and I couldnt even link up to the livebox router by keying in 192.168.1.1. The laptop CAN connect wirelessy and access the config pages.

Sometimes connects and works just fine, hours later it wont even find the router, then in might connect to router but not internet, sometimes says cannot connect due to network inteference... Got a decent signal strength, changed router to channel 11 to stop some interference with others in the neighborhood.My laptop and phone connect to the router fine every time.

I recently got a new modem from AT&T. I hooked it up and everything worked fine for a few days. Last night some friends came over with their wireless devices (iphone, ipad) and after a while, the internet got really slow. Then it was unresponsive but it said that we were still connected to the network. So I decided to restart the router. Once it was finished rebooting, we were not even able to connect to the network at all. Even on my computer downstairs I was not able to connect wirelessly. I am connected via ethernet from the router right now on my computer upstairs and that is working fine. I have tried rebooting the router to factory settings, unplugging the modem, rebooting the modem, unplugging the modem, changing the router settings, pretty much every practical solution for simple connectivity issues.
using an Airport Express to stream itunes music wirelessly? I'm able to get the AE setup and can stream for about 30 minutes but then it can't be found. I'm assuming the 655 is kicking it off. I've tried changing settings on the 655 but nothing seems to make any difference. I'm able to use an Apple TV/iPhone/iPad with no issues.

I have just bought and setup this router, Wired connection working fine, Problem is no devices seem to connect to wireless, my other PC, phone etc find the router with strong signal, I enter the key but nothing happens. I tried with my phone and stood next to the router and it connected but dropped out when I walked a few feet away.
So our last router (Linksys) quit on us the other day so we got this one. We plug it in and it works most of the time, but the connection drops out periodically. Also, for some reason, I am now unable to connect to Xbox Live using my laptop as a router (plugging the ethernet cable from my xbox to my laptop). Also, when I plag it in, the internet stops working on my laptop and I have to restart it to get it to work again.

Recently I bought TD-W8151N wireless adsl router, I have one desktop computer that connected to TD-W8151N via ethernet and wirelessly to one laptop, IP Addr: 192.168.1.4, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : desktop (LAN connection IP Addr: 192.168.1.3, Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.1 : laptop (wireless connection) but I can't ping each other and also can't access the share folders between them., both computers can access internet. Is there anything I missed the configuration setting of the router? Before I use wireless, I connected this 2 computers using cross-type utp cable, and working good.
I tested ospf multi-areas in packet tracer as shown in attached file.(Sorry I don't know how to upload the lab image.)There I got a problem that router 0 in area 1 and router 6 in area 3 cannot communicate.Except this, router 0 can communicate with other routers and the same to router 6. I have made a virtual link between backbone,area 1 and 2 ABR router 1 and area 2,3 ABR router 4.I use process id 123 for every area. But when I type "show ip route" in router 0, it is shown [code] when it is typed in router 6, it is shown [code] So, router 6 cannot communicate with router 0.I don't wanna make a static route to 1.0.0.0 network in router 6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy basement doesn't get a good wireless signal. It doesn't affect my computer since it's hardwired via a couple of Asoka PlugLinks. However, I've always had bad signal reception from my main router which is two floors above. Because of this, I was rarely able to connect my Wii to the internet and am now unable to connect my Wii U to it either.Recently I purchased a new wireless router (a Linksys e1200n) to speed up the network. So, having a spare router (the old router: a Linksys WRT54G), I decided to try to convert it to an access point in the basement so the Wii U could finally get a stable internet connection (it's very picky about signal strength for some reason). I reset the old router and followed some instructions on how to make it an access point instead of a router. Once it was configured I bought another Asoka PlugLink and placed the WRT54G in the basement. I connected the PlugLink to the wall outlet and connected the Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the WRT54G. I thought everything would be fine, but then the problems came.
My Wii U was unable to connect to it. I also tested a couple of laptops and they were able to connect to it, but they couldn't access the internet. I assumed maybe distance from the main router was the cause(a PlugLink is connected from LAN port 1 on the back of the main router into a wall outlet, linking other PlugLinks to it), but my computer's PlugLink is in the same room and has no problems connecting.
I am just confused over the fact that a router configured with 10.1.1.1 address (assuming it's got 255.255.255.0 mask) can communicate to a PC connected to one of it's LAN ports and manually setup to have 10.1.1.2/8 address. I was sure that since these are two different subnets they won't see each other. But they do and searched wiki and just googled to see why, but with no success. A friend of my friend says something about 'same range' but it makes little sense to me.
I just need a good article about it or a crystall clear explanation, because I feel my understanding of IP is not as good as I used to believe.
I have one router and four switch one switch in server mode reset of them all in client mode. Four pc located in native vlan(default) and other 4pc connect in vlan20 now the problem is vlan10 pc cannot communicate with router (192.168.100.1). I try router on stick but I can't assign same ip in sub interface is there any way to access 100.1 ???

The computer recognizes the network wirelessly as the correct name and will only have "local access". When it is hardwired to the router it connects just fine, it also will connect to the unsecured (guest)network. I have comcast internet that is connected to an ooma box that is cconnected to the router. My laptop and the playstation find and connect to the internet just fine. The toshiba is running windows vista with a atheros ar5007eg adapter.
