D-Link DIR-655 :: Keep Losing Wireless Setup On Firmware 2.00NA
Oct 2, 2011
In the last two weeks I've been losing wireless connectivity at least once a day. Today it occurred twice. The way that I resolve the problem is by wireing-up, loggin into the router and essentially just resaving the wireless settings (url...) without changing them. Then I'm good to go for about 12 hours.
I have a router with the specs in the subject area. I have a weird problem with my DIR-655 router when saving "daylight savings time." Now, the time is correctly set and one week later, the time reverts back to non-daylight savings time.I am currently syncing my router's time with an ntp server (Cornell in NY). Is this a known bug? I definitely don't want to update my firmware as I like its performance. This is the only issue I want fixed.

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.
I have 3 Dcs-3420's on the same network same static ip setup and they never have issues. Im testing 1 942L, I've upgraded firmware to1.11, but periodically the camera loses its ip address which is weird because it is set static. My wireless is set to Mac address security. Now camera is outside in a shaded area, over night the camera worked all night, this morning it has reset three times. Additionally, each time it resets/losses ip address it also loses the manually set time.
Had just purchased a new DCS942L unit and had it setup fine. Registered it on the web and the web stated that it needed a firmware update. Connected with hard line and started update. After 5min webapp said device timed out. When I went to rest camera could no longer get a connection of any kind.
It seems to happen only when connected through our rooms or through wireless. When I connect directly to the router I don't lose connection. The router is downstairs and it routes the wired connection through a switch. So when routing through the switch or using wireless the connection is lost and re-connects about every 30 seconds to 1 minute. When directly connected it works fine. I've reset the router and reset all settings twice and nothing. I'm using 10/100. Not sure if any of this matters. I have also updated the firmware to 1.35NA. PPPOE password and username are correct as they have been given by our ISP. Any settings I should be aware of? Everything is pretty much default. All I do is setup the internet connection and then setup a wireless connection. Are we overloading the system maybe? I've also changed the password a few times as well. Seems like the logs fill up really fast. Keep getting blocked UDP and TCP packets from different addresses.
I have been using DIR 615 at home for around one year. Now I notice that after some time of continuous usage (say around 3 4 hours) the Wireless network is lost. Thereafter only reboot brings it back. I checked for any latest firmware upgrade from admin page, but it says device already has the latest.
My Dlink router has been working fine until recently. The only changes I made was to try to put time limits on my kids' devices, through Tools->Schedules and Advanced-> access control. Things worked Ok, but I soon realized I had to reserve each kids' device DHCP number, or so I thought(?) Anyhow, now I seem to have to log into my dlink router weekly as their wireless connection stops each week. Not sure if it affects the non-reserved wireless devices. Not sure what's happening or what I did wrong. Running the following: DIR615 hardware Version B2 Firmware 2.25 Under DHCP Server settings: Enable DHCP server - checked Addrss range 192.168.0.100 to 192.169.0.199 Note - reserved ips in that range Lease time 1440 minutes Always broadcast - checked rest blank NetBIOS type Mixed mode.
I have a DIR-625 router that has been acting odd lately. Several times a day at random my devices (laptop, android phones, PS3) will lose internet connectivity from my wireless network. They say they are still connected to the network but I am unable to access the internet or even the router config page. Everything works fine on Wired LAN computers. The only way I can fix it is by unplugging the router for a few seconds. I have had the router for over a year now without this problem. Seems like it may have started when we got our android phones.
I bought a DIR-655 about 8 months ago. I had no problems connecting to the internet for the first couple of months. Then I would get a random connection problem where I would reset my modem or the router and all would be fine for a while. Then about a month and a half ago it started getting worse and worse and about 3 weeks ago it got to a point that I was resetting the router or modem daily to get a initial connection to the internet. And that would last until the next day when we would try to access the internet. Ocassionally, if I had a good initial connection, I would get a random loss of the connections a minute or two after I started surfing the web. Initially a modem or router reset would clear this up too. This happening both over wireless and through the hard wired connection. So it doesn't matter how I am using the Router. AND, most recently resets may not even get me a solid connection to the internet. So, I have bypassed the router for now.
The router was set up with changes to only passwords, network name, a changed router IP address and not broadcasting the wireless it has worked fine. After the reset, I left the router IP address as the default but changed the above security settings. Nothing else was changed. I have never had any issues logging into the router menus through the default or my defined IP addresses.
In doing some troubleshooting, I performed a reset on the modem several times, none of which resolved the problem, I was still losing the connection. Then I bypassed the router and did a direct connection to the modem and all is good and I have not had a connection issue since. I even tried changing the Ethernet connection on the back of the home computer to a different computer port but that changed nothing. I am currently trying a different cable. I am using the standard connection scheme:Cable from outside to modem, modem to router via Ethernet into the proper router port, Router to static computer via Ethernet. And a laptop accesses through the wireless. All cables have been working fine and are home built CAT 5e cables
It is really frustrating and I am not sure where to start now. Currently, I am running without the router for internet but I need it for the wireless to a laptop in another room. I use Time Warner Cable and have a Atlantic Scientific DPC2100 cable modem.

recently i bought wireless router TL-WR841N and there hasn't been a day or should i say few hours without restarting/turning on-off.I have cable(no modems, etc)Longest time it has ran without restarting was around 20hours.The problem is it RANDOMLY looses connection like this , but it's not the only problem , mostly when i leave computer and go to sleep or other business i leave router turner ON (no else have access to it and no one touches it), when i come back it just does not connect to internet, it shows that everything is fine , but i have no access to internet. This happens to all connected computers.I have dynamic ip I have russian version of windows xp sp3 , but i think everything is pretty understandable here. connection timed out/request timed out

FYI the problem is not in my computers(i tried setting up wireless networks from 2 different pc's) and i'm pretty sure it's not ISP's fault too(everything works fine through cable) , because this never happens with other wireless networks, etc.
I was having problems with the speed being between 30-58 kpbs when going through the WRT160N router, whether its hooked up wired or wireless, the speed with both was extremely slow and wouldnt fully open pager or would take dsl day slow. I hooked up straight to modem and I got 100+ kpbs so I figured its not my ISP, so I read that upgrading my firmware might make it faster, so I upgraded and hit and held the reset button for 30 secs like it recommended but now the 192.168.1.1 wont open, I get a message saying it cant open this page
I bought E900, accessed setup thru 192.168.1.1, upgraded its firmware.. then changed router's IP, it reboots, then went blank, I cannot access the setup page anymore?
I started using a D-link 2750U wireless modem-router about 2 months ago, and configured it using the given disk for my ISP (MTNL Delhi). Since then, it has never retained a connection for more than 10 days, give or take i.e starts showing a red earth light instead of a green one. I usually reset it to factory settings and reconfigure it using the same disc over and over again, but now it has started dropping connection more frequently.Recently, it developed a new disease. Connection is very unstable now. Through line, it keeps disconnecting every 4-5 minutes. re-connects and dies again itself and does not work through wi-fi at allMy hardware quality healthy as I ran a wired connection for over 3 years without any trouble before this one.
I have a dir-655 Firmware Version 2.00, hardware:B1 It's a new wireless router and it's just a week ago I got it.My problem is that the wireless is just stopping to work, it just disappear. When I do a rescan of wireless AP's the ssid and my AP is not showing up.I have to reboot the router the hard way by unplugging the power source.I have multiple computers and wireless devices, and they all loose connection and no one even see the ssid (AP) defined on my dir-655.It's connected to a cable modem switch (without nat), I'm running dhcmp on my router. No Qos engine is enabled. This happens when I'm working from home with a VPN tunnel from my pc to my companies network.I've tried to make a ticket on this on dlink support pages, but their support system only works on IE7, and the password is anyway rejected. how to solve the termination of my wifi ap?
I have 2 computers connected to the router (via cable). The problem is that have to reboot the router several times per day because one or both computers lose their internet connection. This happens regardless if one or two computers are turned on.

he will lose connection with his chat programs for like 2 minutes then automatically be signed back on. He says he notices no other connection loss, but notices that sometimes his streaming will lag or games will lag. His ISP is Armstong (?) and he's wired to the router. XP OS.
I am currently running a TL-WR851ND Wifi Router whith the latest build 3.13.27 Build 121101 Rel.38183n() published last November 2012. Now is there any new firmware?
I have the same issue and have been surfing the web for the solution for quite some time. Brand new Sony VAIO laptop with blu-ray has an Intel WiFi bgn 1000 wireless network adapter. It worked fine for couple of days, until i brought it to work. We use wireless connection in our office. Maximum 7 computers are connected at a time. All other 6 laptops connect to our network with no problems (all of them are on win7x64). Now, back to the problem. Wireless works at home and at work in the evening , when no one in the office. I've removed all 3rd party software, uninstalled Intel software. Am using clean driver from the Intel website. Tried different revisions of the driver - issue is still there. I've contacted VAIO support. This is not known issue to them. They offered standard actions (unisntalling the driver, power management options, enabling VAIO Smart Network). No updates of fixes on their support website. I have also checked in the event viewer. There is only one service being enabled and disabled constantly (TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper) - which is happening at the same time with wireless drop. There are about 5-8 drops per minute. Computer browser service disabled. Firewall disabled, antivirus disabled. We assume this could be an interference with mobile diveces. While now, we have disabled all wireless cards on all computers, switched off mobile phones. And... AXAXAXAXA!!! BSOD 0x00000018 (0x000....00, 0xFFFFFA800754A750, 0x00...02, 0xFC01020EFC01020B).
I recently updated my firmware for a DIR-601 router and have internet while hardwired, but no wireless. I saved the configuration settings before updating, but this doesn't even matter because my wireless router doesn't even show up in the list of available wireless network connections. Why isn't my router showing up? I tried a few things like unplugging it and resetting it, but nothing seems to work.

I have version 1.1 and d/l'd firmware 111125. The upgrade ran successfully to 100% and then I got the login screen again. However after checking, then restarting to factory default the version displayed was still the old one
I tried to download the latest firmware from this page (V4) [URL] I press browse button from web interface, I select wr641gv4-en-up.bin and I press Upgrade but nothings happened. I read on other forums this router have 1MB internal memory and wr641gv4-en-up.bin have 1.07MB.

Like many others with the W8968 Modem Router we are experiencing sudden disconnections from the internet every 1/2/3 hours with the only way to cure the problem is to hard reset the modem router. For your tech staff on the phone to say 'I'll just have to do this" is completely unacceptable.I have used 3 other modem routers with the exact same setup flawlessly with no disconnections so it's 110% the modem routers problem.I'm pushing this message for you, TP-Link, to release a new firmware version to fix this problem.
I also believe there are other problems incorporating port forwarding, etc aside from this major flaw.I used to believe TP-Link was a trusted and great company but after my experience I'll be thinking otherwise.

I've downloaded the firmware update 111125 and followed the instructions. The progress bar reaches 100% but the router doesn't seem to restart (judging by the status lights on the front). It does ask me to log back in but when I check the firmware version, it still reads 100722. I also tried factory default settings after the update. Still it reads 100722. I've tried the update 3 times now.

We received new tablet and smart tv but cannot use them due to connection problems. The tv will not connect to the router and the tablet shows strong router strength but will not connect to the internet. I checked for firmware updates and there are 3. Do I simply install the latest firmware or all 3?
I have custom firmware installed on this router and everything is fine, signal strenth is 'excellent' ...BUT the internet on my laptop and also on my iphone keeps dropping out maybe once every two minutes.

I bought this recently on EBay and it works fine. I have just checked the firmware version and it displays as 120703 rel 29722. This version doesn't appear amongst the downloads - the most recent is 120427. Has somebody upgraded to the wrong software? Should I upgrade to 120427?
