I have custom firmware installed on this router and everything is fine, signal strenth is 'excellent' ...BUT the internet on my laptop and also on my iphone keeps dropping out maybe once every two minutes.
View 8 RepliesHow to flash a DIR-601 Rev B1 with any of the custom firmwares out there? I've tried all of them this morning and haven't had any luck. I set the router to recovery mode and tried openwrt, dd-wrt, tomato, and gargoyle. I tried with chrome, firefox, ultra simple web browser, and ie 8. Every attempt resulted in "Upgrade Failed". I know Rev A1 is supported by DD-WRT, just sucks newegg sent me a B1. Looks like several other routers run similar hardware, so it's got to be doable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden.All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.

Normally I would assume this was a problem with the cable modem, but disconnecting from and reconnecting to the router often fixes the problem.

I unable connect to internet after upgrade the new firmware
I have seen several posts regarding internet connection dropping. Mine does the same. I have a cable modem in front of the router. The router is setup with two SSID's (one 2.4GHz, and the other 5GHz). So often the connectivity to ENET drops, forcing me to power cycle the router. Other then the two SSID's, the router setup is factory default. I need to debug this. I have noriced that the DNS IP addresses do not show up under setup. Where do I start?

But what I notice is that the internet connection is very slow and things drop. My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. View 14 Replies View RelatedThe old 615 has been working very well for some years now, but the last couple of days we have had to turn it off and on again to get internet. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. The globe light on the router remains green, and the notification icon on windows 7 doesn't show any problems yet we cant connect to the web. I've been looking on the forum and trying to understand some of the solutions and checklists already posted, but they don't make a whole load of sense to me unfortunately.
The firmware on the router is 2.27. The only change I have made to the system is that my wife's lan card seems to have died a death last week, and her computer is now connected by wireless. My computer is now the only one connected to the router by a lan cable.
There is something I don't understand. Under setup / network there is a dhcp reservations section. Pretty much every device seems to have a reserved IP address, and some of the devices that are reserved we no longer own. My son does gaming and wants a constant IP address, and my computer might need a permanent IP (don't know - just guessing here). Should all the other computers be allowed to sort themselves an IP every time they log on? Most of the devices have expires never, and some of the devices have the blue link that I can click for revoke and reserve with a time by them.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here and this lot has nothing to do with the dropping connection? What do the revoke / reserve and times mean? What happens when the lease runs out? Will the connection drop on that computer and it will have to try and connect itself again, or does it start a new lease every time it logs on to the router?
I have just purchased a DIR-825. Set up went through without a hitch. (I have it wired, not wireless at the moment). But I am consistently dropping my connection to the internet/Lan . I have a dual boot system (WinXP-Win7) and it's happening on both platforms, so i know it's not an OS problem. I have reverted to my old DIR-604 out of frustration. I was hoping you might have suggestions or a potential solution before I contact customer support for official assistance (if it exists) on this matter.

I have been usung TP link for years, and now I want to use the 3G modem option the 3420 offers. But in the list of countries I can't find Serbia, and I can't find the ZTE MF 195. I found that on the TP Links site list of compatible modems there is Other countries, but in the modem list there isn't such an option, and since there is also no ZTE MF 195, and there isn't a "Telenor" entry for the service provider.I tried telling the router that I'm from another country, and setting up some of the parameters manually, but "surprisingly" it didn't work. Is there or could someone make a program which makes BIN files specific to the modem that isn't on the list, or is there a place where the BIN files grow?

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.
I just switched to Cogeco Highspeed ( cable ) and bought a xtreme N gigabit router and it always seems to drop the connection every few hours. The router is set with dynamic IP , I've turned off short GI , it is broadcasting 802.11 N , I've tried changing the channels (currently on ch ,I have 2 wireless phones in the house but they are 20 or more feet from the router it self and also turned off always broadcast DHCP.
View 1 Replies View Related I purchased this router and a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U for my home network. My current set up at home for devices connected to router are as follows:
2 Macs and 2 iphones - Wireless
2 Directv boxes, 2 blu-ray players and xbox360, Ethernet cabling.
The issue I am having is that everyday at-least 7-8+ times my internet will just stop coming through. I never lose connection to the router it's self. But I cannot load webpages/content on any of my devices. They always show as being connected fine to the router though. I have attempted to call Cox cable, my ISP, to resolve the issue. And I am always told that everything looks fine on their end and that the issue must lie with the connection between the Modem and router. The rep then walks me through a complete reboot of both router & modem and of course, the issue is resolved 100% of the time. I am trying to fix the issue my self to avoid a $50 service call fee from Cox which could still not fix any issues at all. Since I have done some searching and found some advice on making changes to the configuration of the router. But time after time I continue to get the same issue.

This seems to happen after I upgraded the firmware. Before that, did not get a complaint from my children or wife. Before I squeeze the last drop out of this lemon.
I installed my camera a week ago and have since noticed every 15 minutes (only while the camera is plugged in) or so I would lose my internet connection. A message comes up at the bottom of my screen that says 'local area connection. A network cable is unplugged'. It takes 15-20 seconds for the connection to be re-established.
I called my ISP and asked if there were any settings on my router I needed to change since the camera install but they told me 'no' and I should contact tech support for the camera.
I just got my DIR 825. It had 2.02NA Firmware in it. It had a few options that I wanted to use but didn't work. So I thought I would update firmware. I follow the instruction from dlink to install firmware. So I loaded 2.03 and noticed internet connection not working. So then I loaded 2.05 part1 and part2. Still could get internet connection to work but the reason to upgrade the option I wanted worked. So then I loaded 2.06 and still same result. No internet connection. So then I loaded the original firmware back in and internet connection works. Why doesn't the internet work on the other firmware updates. I got the updates from dlink website. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-655 Version B running the stock 2.0 firmware and a Motorola SB6120 cable modem and my ISP is comcast. I have had comcast come out and test my line and everything is fine. I have a desktop directly wired to the internet and several portable devices accessing the router.I cannot connect to the internet. My network is available and none of my devices ever indicate the network isn't available. When I try to load a website it just says "waiting for reply..." and nothing happens. The solution that always works is rebooting both the modem and the router. What is odd is that this problem comes and goes, I will go a week with zero issues, then I go all week with rebooting my stuff 5-8 times a day..What have I tried? I tried the settings that are recommended by Furrynuts to users complaining. I have also tried changing the wireless band settings to different channels as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using the WAG54G2 for some time now, recently I set up a range extender and had some issues so one thing I tried was to upgrade the firmware. It was very unclear on this website where to find it (specifically for the G2). I went here but there were 2 files, Annex A or B? [irl].... The instructions are also very unclear on this. But more frustratingly the zip file just contains an ".img" file - no ".bin" as the instructions say. So i tried the manual firmware upgrade using this file and shortly after the message "...whatever you do - do not close the browser or restart the router during the upgrade..." (or similar) the router crashed, so I had to restart it and the browser. Now I think I may have introduced an error as the once perfectly-performing router occasionally drops the internet connection for a few minutes. With my work I need 100% uptime.

The speed jumps all over the place, reaching as high as 2mb/s and then dumping down to 0.14 kbps while going up and down. I am not sure what the issue is. I am running wirelessly on my desktop using a D-Link DWA-130 adapter.

1--drops all wireless connections momentarily, then re-establishes them (happens multiple times a day)
2--drops all wireless connections and has to be reset (happens every 0.5-2 days)
#1 wouldn't be a big deal, except that I keep VPN connections on two systems and have to re-establish them every time this happens. I should probably also note that this happens even on the weekends, when those two systems are not VPN'd in.
It has done this since day 1, and the firmware update did not work.

My D-Link DIR-615 router keeps dropping the wireless signals. It will work if I am wired directly to it, but not with the wireless.

When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc.However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying.All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter 5 years of services my DIR-655 begun acting up yesterday; first of it begun by getting REALLY slow, it could take up to 25 seconds to login into the software and up to 30+ seconds just going from one menu to another, on some instances connection (wired) to the router was lost. This morning it started dropping all connections, wired or not; first my iphone then my WDTV, after that it's been pretty much random connections. On one given moment wired works but not wireless, then wireless works but not wired and sometimes I get both but for 3 or 4 minutes.I've reset the router to factory settings, plugged/unplugged, changed cables, network adapters on desktops and the problem persists.

I'm having problems with my wireless connection constantly dropping and have set the optimal settings from the sticky's in the forums, nothing has changed this problem.
-Have changed to a empty Channel. (8)
- TX and RX packets dropping, also some errors.
-All new CAT 6 cabling between router and modem.
-Have tried all different wireless modes.
-Wired clients are working perfectly.
-Changed the DNS servers.

.my computer is the only one at work that keeps getting dropped by the wireless. It will connect after I reset the modem then after anywhere from 10mins to a few hours I will get dropped and all the other computers will still be connected. My computer will still see the router and show 5 bars but just says "unable to connect at this time". I've updated the drivers on my wifi card. I've done a system restore. I can plug in (like right now) and I get great internet via ethernet. It's a D-Link DIR-615 router and I'm pretty sure the admin has updated the firmware on it.
My D-link wireless router (WBR-1310) keeps dropping my internet/email connection. The little green lights are all flashing intermittently except of the one on the far left which stays on. I will have a connection for a little while/few minutes and then it drops.

I have a T L-WR1043ND v1.9 with the latest factory firmware that I recently purchased. Ran fine for a couple of weeks. Now my WAN connection seems to be dropping. I get an IP and DNS from the ISP but I cannot ping anything (google etc...) past the router. I have to hit the detect button or release and renew the IP in order to gain access. Then after a few hours or a day the issue reoccurs.

My Huawei E3231 dongle gives me a strong signal and stable connection and rarely loses connecton when plugged directly into my laptop. In the router, connection duration only lasts, fairly consistently, about 30 minutes. 3 UK base station is in sight and only about 90metres away. I have to power off/on the router and turn off/on the wireless button on the laptop to restore connection. i've tried setting idle times etc and other things in the router settings but no joy. The OS is W7 Home Premium SP1.
