D-Link DIR-655 :: Keeps Dropping And FW Update Doesn't Take Affect
Dec 8, 2011
I have had my DIR-655 for a few years now and it has been running fine up until a few months ago.
I haven't changed any features or done some major changes but it started cutting out all network traffic. WiFi drops internet connection but is still connected and both my NAS and my wired computer are also cut off from the network but shows as connected.
The router GUI is not accessible when this happens. The routers leds are lit but for some reason all network activity is dropped. Restarting the router resets everything.
This is rather sporadic but happens at least 2 times a day.
I have disconnected the internet connection and left the "internal" network be up and running and then too I get the network "cut-off" after some time so it is not dependent on my ISP.
I have Hardware Version A2 and am running Firmware Version 1.32NA. I tried to install the 1.35NA and it goes and does something but when it comes back it is still on 1.32NA so the FW upgrade doesn't kick in. Is my hardware too old for it possibly?
I notice that SPI is disabled by default on the DIR-600 (in firmware 2.10 and 2.11 as well).Port forwarding still works with SPI on (use it for BitTorrent). So why is it off by default?Does it slow down things?
Upgraded to 1.0.04 from .03 and caused some problems. Worked great at first-upgrade was flawless-no problems there. THen it started dropping wireless connections. THen no wireless or wired connections. COuld not pull an IP address.Pulled power to router couple times and it worked great at first again then degraded like before.Held reset button for 5 secs to reset to factory defaults, now the setup display is missing all the html coding-no menu list. All in raw format.Am connected to port 1 via cat 5 to my laptop with no connections except the internet connection to the cable modem. Something has gone really wrong with my .04 software.Tried to find the .03 version, but the zip file is HUGE. Whats in it anyway?
we have replaced a PSU in an ASA 5585 and after it, when we want to see the new PSU serial number, strangely appears the old one instead of the new one. Do we have to do anything in order to get the inventory updated?
Alright it said to click "Check for updates" and then go back to download the update but everytime I click "check for updates" it says I don't have an internet connection even though I can still connect to the itunes store and everything. ran diagnostic in itunes and it told me to enable my network interface and I did that but it still wont work! My Internet signal is brilliant but I can't download the upgrade unless I update the software or something but it won't let me unless i have an internet connection which I do.
i've upgraded our WLC 5508 from 7.0.220 to 7.2.115.1.For our guest WLAN we use web authentication with customized startpage, no login error page and no logout page. The customized login page is displayed correctly. After successful authentication the browser is forwarded to the default CISCO login page "login.html". No further autentication is possible, also no internet access.Reload the customized webauth bundle to the controller didn't change anything. Is there a change in the HTML/Java code of this controller version? I didn't find any hint in the release notes. Or do I need the newer web authentication bundle with version 1.0.2?
The latest driver is version 3.2.7 for Windows 7. I am still on the 3.0.2.0 driver which works fine for me. I just wanted to note that the 3.2.7 driver obtained from Windows Update doesn't work well, drops connections and takes longer to establish a connection. I've tried to update twice and each time I go back to the older driver. Can someone at Linksys examine the performance of this driver?
I made a big mistake and updated my EA6500 with the wrong firmware.I selected "ver.1.1.38.149770" which I shouldn't have done since it's for the the EA6700 which i read aftwerwards....how stupid can one be Anyway, the device is not started up as it should.I'm able to use it as a cabled router but it's not sending out any wireless signal and the led light is blinking.A factory reset obviously didn't work since the firmware was wrong. So, my question is if it's possible to revert to an older firmware using the USB port?Or for example push a firmware using an ADB command if it's possible to connect using a cable?Or in some other way?
I've been trying to port forward my WRT54G2 router.I've tried to update the Firmware, use another computer or another browser. But it still doesn't work!
I currently have 3 pcs - one desktop ethernet - one desktop wireless adapter and one laptop wireless. I unplugged the desktop wireless a few nights ago - I have since been on the ethernet desktop fine but when I tried to log on with the laptop wireless - no deal. So I replugged the wireless desktop and then the laptop was o.k. to connect. This doesn't seem normal but I don't know. One unplugged pc on the network shouldn't affect the others should it?
I recently switched over to a new cable modem/wireless router, which is the Zoom DOCSIS 3.0 (Model: 5350-00-03). Me and my brothers have set up a second router, a Netgear N300 (Model: WNR2000v2), on the other side of the house. After the switch, our data usage has been increasing. I just want to know if having two routers affect more data usage.
I have a customer who wants to disable cdp on all switches for securtity reasons. The same customer has also LMS 4.0 installed.
When disabling cdp, does it affect the topology services on LMS? Can you still see the topology tab on device manager or the topology map of the entire network?
I work at technical support and I heard a story about a customer that lost his internet connection when there was a high tide. I do not know the details but is it possible that high tide can affect wireless internet signals?
I have REV A and the firmwars version is 1.04. I want to upgrade to ver 1.35. I have downloaded the firmware to my computer. When I login to the router page and go to the firmware tab, when I try to click browse for the file nothing happens. I have tried using Internet Explorer and Firefox.
I have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection). From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update. When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09. However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens. The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10). Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself? I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update. However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens. How the heck do I update this router?
My roommates and I keep getting knocked off the internet every few minutes on the router so I've tried a bunch of the tricks found here and am trying to also update the firmware. I downloaded the newest firmware, uploaded it to the router and it says it succeeded in the update, but then after reboot gives the same version it came with.
Will a Wi-Fi range extender affect (i.e., reduce) the signal of the router? How does the throughput signal compare between where it originates and where it ends?
I'm in the throes of configuring my 5520 to supply different group policies based on LDAP group membership. I'm finding that no matter what I do only the default group is applied. I'm sure it'll be a simple fix - but I just can't see it. [code]
I am planning the upgrade of an ASA 5550 Active/Passive cluster from 8.0 to 8.2 according to the "zero downtime upgrade" documentation available in the web.
I do not have another cluster for comprehensive testing, but I executed a simple migration procedure on a tiny 5505 and neither licensing features nor the configuration (the command sintax) were affected by this process. I know this is something to care about if you go to 8.3, but this is not my case.I browsed the release notes of 8.2(5) and no special disclaimer was found by me with respect to this release. So everything should work just fine, but I would like to double check for input with respect to these two subjects:
1.Will the licensed features (vpn, concurrent connections, etc) be preserved? 2. Will the configuration be preserved ?
I tried to proceed with the update of the firmware on my DIR-835 router. I want to install version 1.0.2 of the firmware.I tried without success with Chrome and IE9. I get to a blank page and nothing downloads IE9 A PDF file is downloading but not the firmware update itself
I am currently on fw 1.33NA and it works fine just want to update so it works better I've tried the reset to factory and unplugged the internet port and ive tried fw 2.0NA and 2.10NA
updating to 2.03NA seems to be working for a lot of people. Anyway, my current NAT type is Strict ugh. I used to have a DIR-615 router. Man oh man that worked so well. But I had to replace it since it conked out after a 6 year stint.
I just bought my DIR-825 from Frys and it came stock with 2.02NA B1 firmware, but everytime I try to update it to 2.03/2.04/2.05/2.06 it errors saying it might not be the same hardware or something on the lines of that. But now when I try to upload it, it just leads me to "192.168.0.1 was interrupted" and can't even get to the error screen now.I'm not too savvy when it comes to routers, especially a D-Link since previously I had a Linksys WRT54GL
Currently running firmware version 1.32NA on DIR-655 (hardware version A4). I have made multiple attempts at updating its firmware, first to 1.33NA and later to 1.34 Beta 3, with no success: on each occasion, it accepts the local .bin file upload, then claims to be in the process of applying the upload (with I think an 80 second countdown), and eventually comes back to the login page, still showing that it's running firmware v1.32NA (verified after logon, refresh, etc -- no update was applied). I have attempted this immediately after a soft reset of the router and even after a hard (power cycle) reset, but still no success.
(Any reason to think that the update might work if performed while the router is disconnected from the Internet? or after a configuration reset?
I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
I've been having wireless range issues lately with my dir-615: a lot of holes seemed to have popped up in my house despite nothing changed (house or router location). This is after at least 2-3 years of good coverage and no issues. Went to look at the firmware & found 2.0 installed. Found out online that (I think) firmware is now at 4.11. Tried to download and install but both finding the update and unzipping it proved challenging. Specifically for the latter, unzipping kept yielding more zipped packages, like a russian doll
Can the quality of my phone line affect the ability of web pages to load? Some times web pages load flawlessly at other times browser says web page found but it refuses to load. I assume that things could get slow if I am downloading various updates in the background. What could be my problem? My phone line is on poles-underground-been spliced and on the end of the line. Seems like when I need to connect I can't.
Im running 8.3 on a 5505. We've got a few ssh tunnels originating from inside to some place on the internet. It seems these tunnels are closed every n minutes. I've seen two recommendations for altering the timeout values, and what I am interested in is infinite timeout (0) for these SSH tunnels.
Suggestion 1, alter timeout "conn". Default is 30 minutes, but I suspect this might have a negative impact because no inactive connections would be closed, ever. If it however is recommended to alter, how to set it to "0" (off/unlimited)? timeout conn 1:00:00 half-closed 0:10:00 udp 0:02:00 icmp 0:00:02
Suggestion 2, enable a ssh class map which explicitely set the timeout for the ssh connection. Is this recommended? How would I achieve unlimited time? And what about random-sequence-number disabled as seen below, is that really recommended?
class CLASS_MAP_SSH set connection random-sequence-number disable set connection timeout idle 48:00:00 reset set connection decrement-ttl
I'm planning to upgrade Cisco ASA 8.2 to an anyconnect essentials and mobile license. Are there any concerns with some users continuing to utilize the cisco vpn IPSEC client while others migrate to the Anyconnect? I just want to make sure when I upgrade the license that there will not be an immediate requirment to have all users switch to Anyconnect immediately.
