I'm planning to upgrade Cisco ASA 8.2 to an anyconnect essentials and mobile license. Are there any concerns with some users continuing to utilize the cisco vpn IPSEC client while others migrate to the Anyconnect? I just want to make sure when I upgrade the license that there will not be an immediate requirment to have all users switch to Anyconnect immediately.
View 2 RepliesI am planning the upgrade of an ASA 5550 Active/Passive cluster from 8.0 to 8.2 according to the "zero downtime upgrade" documentation available in the web.
I do not have another cluster for comprehensive testing, but I executed a simple migration procedure on a tiny 5505 and neither licensing features nor the configuration (the command sintax) were affected by this process. I know this is something to care about if you go to 8.3, but this is not my case.I browsed the release notes of 8.2(5) and no special disclaimer was found by me with respect to this release. So everything should work just fine, but I would like to double check for input with respect to these two subjects:
1.Will the licensed features (vpn, concurrent connections, etc) be preserved?
2. Will the configuration be preserved ?

This platform has an ASA 5520 VPN Plus license
As I've understood that I need the ASA-AC-M-5520 license for each IPAD used but they mentioned that we need also the Essential or premium license to be activated on the ASA as well. As shown above, I have the "VPN Plus license" activated on the firewall.
I have a base 5505 and would like to get AnyConnect working. To do that, would I have to first purchase either an essentials or premium license and then purchase the AnyConnect Mobile license?

1) Does Cisco AnyConnect make use of IPsec or is it soley SSL VPN based?
2) From the license information I have below in my ASA I understand that I can have max 750 vpn peers however am I right in saying that this does not apply to Cisco AnyConnect peers? and that with Cisco AnyConnect I can only have 2 peers? Also what are the disabled anyconnect options for?

3) When trying to set up Cisco Anyconnect on the ASA using ASDM, I noticed I needed to upload AnyConnect client images however when I did this by uploading the .dmg file for mac machines I got the error message "not a valid SVC image". Is this because I am running 8.2?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect two ASA 5505s for a IPSec L2L VPN. They can connect, but not pass traffic from the AnyConnect subnet. I've added the config from ASA-2, with the LAN subnet of 192.168.138.0 and a subnet of 192.168.238.0 for AnyConnect client.
I'm trying to get the AnyConnect Clients access to the 192.168.137.0 LAN behind ASA-1 at 1.1.1.1. Having both 192.168.238.0 and 192.168.138.0 both access 192.168.137.0 is acceptable.
There's probably a lot of cruft in this config, as I've been reading all over forums and docs without much success.

A customer has a 5505. According to the datasheet the limit of IPSEC sessions is 25 and the limit of anyconnect sessions is 25. Does that mean I can have 25 IPSEC tunnels and 25 Anyconnect tunnels at the same time? The customer needs at least 50 concurrent tunnels on his ASA. Am I understanding it correctly?
I was thinking the customer could pay for the anyconnect essentials license and connect his anyconnect clients to the ASA. Is that a good option to get the 50 concurrent clients connected?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is for an ASA 5505. I am trying to configure an AnyConnect and IPSec VPN connection and I think it's almost there but not quite yet. When I login from an outside network it gives me the following error for the SSL AnyConnect "The VPN client was unable to setup IP filtering" and "Secure VPN connection terminated by peer" for the IPSec. I previously had this working since Oct, but I was trying to modify it a little to accept LT2P for native Android VPN clients and that messed up everything that I had working perfectly. I checked everything as best as I could to try and match the previous settings but still can't get the darn thing to work. I am trying to also do Hairpinning, I want all VPN traffic to pass through this router... remote LAN and Internet traffic for times when I am at unfamiliar wifi hotspots and need to check email securely. I have included my running config. I also need to configure the ASA to accept native Android VPN connections. I read the most popular thread that worked for a few users but while doing those modifications that is where everything went downhill. T

I have a Cisco 1921 ISR Router with Security License running software version 15.0. I want to upgrade the router to 15.1. But I don't want to lose the security license that came with the router. When I look at the IOS downloads page on Cisco, all I see is universal images for all versions of 15.1.
My question is - where is the security license stored? In the IOS or programmed in somewhere else of the router? If I upgrade my router to one of the newer 15.1 universal images, will I lose my security license?
We face following situation: Currently LMS 3.2 is installed. We order a 3.x to 4.0.1 upgrade license, in the meantime 4.1 is launched. So, we ordered the free of charge 4.0 to 4.1 minor upgrade license. Now we have a 3.x to 4.0 upgrade license and the 4.0 to 4.1 minor upgrade license and don't know how to proceed.
Is it now possible to install 4.1 from scratch directly and use the 4.0 to 4.1 upgrade license to register it? Of course we want to avoid to install 4.0 as an extra step...
