View 5 RepliesI am using my DIR-825 as a switch and AP. I have turned off DHCP and plugged the internet into the lan-1 port. This works perfectly for IPv4, but I cannot get IPv6 to work. On the outside there is native IPv6 running radvd. How should I configure IPv6 on my DIR-825?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately I didn't discover any configuration switches concerning an IPv6 firewall! So the important question is: Is there any firewall implemented at all? And if so, does it confirm to RFC6092.
View 14 Replies View RelatedWill there be a way sometime in the future to add static IPv6 routes? I have a routed /64 and a routed /48 from a tunnel broker that terminates on my DIR-815, and I want to hang the /48 off of another router that I have attached to my LAN interface(goes to my home lab setup that I use for my job). I could just move the tunnel endpoint to the other router, but I like having IPv6 access for all my other PCs on the LAN segment.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm still using 2.00NA.It seems that whenever I connect to a particular www3 webpage, my modem and router end up rebooting shortly thereafter. This has happened a few times. The modem's log shows in this order1. No Ranging Response received ,2. Unicast Ranging Received Abort Respone ,3. MIMO Event.I've tried to figure this out. My search on the MIMO event revealed one post about IPv4 and IPv6. This indicates to me that I should probably be upgrading the firmware and configuring its use for IPv6 compatibility. If I upgrade to FW 2.30NA, how should I configure the IPv6, i.e., which parameters should I use?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had my DIR-615 up for several months, and it's been faultless except for one thing. I have router in front of it and only use the 615 as a switch and AP. My main router provides IPv6 access through a 6to4, using radvd to broadcast to the rest of the network.
Whatever setting I set the 615 to for IPv6, it always sends out a default route. On rare occasion, it'll interfere with the correct route from my main router (whose router preference is set to high, instead of medium). Even in local-only mode, the 615 sends out a default route. It's an E1 with the 5.00NA firmware, which I believe is the latest.
I'd really like to disable the advertisements from the 615 altogether, while keeping L2 IPv6 support on the wireless and all. I picked this router explicitly because many routers don't work with IPv6 over WiFi, but it'd be nice to get it working perfectly. If there aren't any ways to do this, is there a place that I can download the source for the firmware?
I am having a problem which I can't seem to find a way around. I have a DIR-615 E3 that I'm unable to get IPv6 to work properly on.I'm connecting to IPv6 over PPPoE, and I'm unable to change the 'IPv6 LAN Address' to an IP my provider has given me. They've provided a native address in the 2607:: range, however on the router it's stuck at a 6to4 IP which is NOT what they've given me (2002:CEF8:8B79:: IP).
I'm thinking of buying a new router that either has better IPv6 support, or one that supports OpenWRT and working my way through that.
We have some technical issue with IPv6 router configuration[DLINK 655] when we try to connect it with ISP provided static IPv6 connection.

I have a d link dir 615 "ipv6 ready". My internet provider give tome a native ipv6 /48. I configure the router with my ipv6 /48 address the internal propagation of the address is good.
On the status ipv6 page all seems OK marked "connected" but I can't have an ipv6real connection and my provider say to me that i am not connected.
Is there a known problem of connection between an public /48 and the internal /64 and if so could it be corrected.
Recently I wanted to setup IPv6 for my home network. I signed up for tunnelbroker.net service and was provided with IPs. Then I configured the IP address in my DIR-615. But It's not working..

I currently have ipV4 as the setting on my DIR-825. Other posts seem to want ipV6 which is more secure but is not possible with a DIR-825 Rev A1. I have two routers, a primary router (DIR-825 Rev B1) capable of ipV6 and a secondary router (DIR-825 Rev A1). If I implement ipV6 on the Rev B1 router but keep ipV4 on the secondary router, will this improve the security, or will it just mess things up so nothing works?Certain devices (cell phones and most Tablets) don't deal with ipV6 very well at all. The ones I have tested flat don't connect to the wireless network if the router is set at ipV6. Is ipV4 adequate for a Home/Small Business Network when trying to implement Remote Access and VPN?

It is running in AP mode to supply connectivity to a number of laptops + a 2nd DAP-1522 in bridge mode. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dlink DIR-825 B1 with firmware 2.05NA. I recently reset it to factory defaults to make sure I didn't misconfigure something.
I have been struggling to get a IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel working with tunnelbroker.net. I think the issue is a problem with the router itself and i'm not sure how to get it fixed.
All of my machines were getting IPv6 addresses (both windows, mac, linux) but none of them seemed to work. All I was able to do was ping the gateway itself using the local lan address. In each case they were missing a default IPv6 route. If I added a default route then it would work.
I started looking at the packets using a network sniffer and the Router Advertisements all had a Router lifetime value of "0" which is RFC4816 speak for "don't use this router as the default router". So Windows/Linux is exactly right by not setting a default route.
The strange thing was that when I reboot the router I would briefly get a router advertisement with a lifetime of 1800s, the corrert prefix and dns server but then another router advertisement would come along 5 seconds later with a router advertisement of 0.
I have TCP' Other observations
... using 6to4 I would get working IPv6 address. The difference again seemed to be the Router Lifetime. But I want to use a permanent tunnel. I have found 6to4 unreliable.
... the router never responds to router solicitations. It only sends a router advertisement when it wants to.
... the router never responds to DHCPv6 when that is configured.

I have REV A and the firmwars version is 1.04. I want to upgrade to ver 1.35. I have downloaded the firmware to my computer. When I login to the router page and go to the firmware tab, when I try to click browse for the file nothing happens. I have tried using Internet Explorer and Firefox.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection). From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update. When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09. However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens. The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10). Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself? I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update. However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens. How the heck do I update this router?

I just bought my DIR-825 from Frys and it came stock with 2.02NA B1 firmware, but everytime I try to update it to 2.03/2.04/2.05/2.06 it errors saying it might not be the same hardware or something on the lines of that. But now when I try to upload it, it just leads me to "192.168.0.1 was interrupted" and can't even get to the error screen now.I'm not too savvy when it comes to routers, especially a D-Link since previously I had a Linksys WRT54GL
View 15 Replies View RelatedCurrently running firmware version 1.32NA on DIR-655 (hardware version A4). I have made multiple attempts at updating its firmware, first to 1.33NA and later to 1.34 Beta 3, with no success: on each occasion, it accepts the local .bin file upload, then claims to be in the process of applying the upload (with I think an 80 second countdown), and eventually comes back to the login page, still showing that it's running firmware v1.32NA (verified after logon, refresh, etc -- no update was applied). I have attempted this immediately after a soft reset of the router and even after a hard (power cycle) reset, but still no success.
(Any reason to think that the update might work if performed while the router is disconnected from the Internet? or after a configuration reset?
I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
I've been having wireless range issues lately with my dir-615: a lot of holes seemed to have popped up in my house despite nothing changed (house or router location). This is after at least 2-3 years of good coverage and no issues. Went to look at the firmware & found 2.0 installed. Found out online that (I think) firmware is now at 4.11. Tried to download and install but both finding the update and unzipping it proved challenging. Specifically for the latter, unzipping kept yielding more zipped packages, like a russian doll

I have the DCS-942L which allows me to set the date/time zone but when I try to add motion detection settings the page always times out during the save. I tried using CaT-5 CABLE instead of wifi for settings (camera on same router and desktop pc) but after the "saving" message appears, it eventually times out and I have to click the Back arrow to return only to find none of my settings saved. I also want to note that each time I log in I see a broken certificate error message. Using Win8 with IE10. Also tried on Win7 with IE9 and XP Pro with IE8.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my DIR-655 for a few years now and it has been running fine up until a few months ago.
I haven't changed any features or done some major changes but it started cutting out all network traffic. WiFi drops internet connection but is still connected and both my NAS and my wired computer are also cut off from the network but shows as connected.
The router GUI is not accessible when this happens. The routers leds are lit but for some reason all network activity is dropped. Restarting the router resets everything.
This is rather sporadic but happens at least 2 times a day.
I have disconnected the internet connection and left the "internal" network be up and running and then too I get the network "cut-off" after some time so it is not dependent on my ISP.
I have Hardware Version A2 and am running Firmware Version 1.32NA. I tried to install the 1.35NA and it goes and does something but when it comes back it is still on 1.32NA so the FW upgrade doesn't kick in. Is my hardware too old for it possibly?
The firmware update went smoothly The mydlink service quit accessing the camera, until I download and ran the updated Mac version of the "mydlink Setup Utility v1.0.06_07272011"Seems as if the camera is more stable; ping times are more consistently low.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI read the sticky related to firmware updates. I have a DIR-655, that has been been giving me good service for quite a few years. I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy as I have managed to keep my home network and computers running over the years, but I'm not knowledgable in these matters. I am still running firmware 1.10, and have not wanted to take a chance that if I upgraded I would find myself with numerous devices with no connectivity (running mix of Mac and PC desktops and laptops, XBox, Wii, Roku box, numerous iPhones and iPods, LG TV, and an iPad).
Recently I moved to the cable company phone, and they added a new modem. They have it set as a gateway (I think that is the terminology), and my network works basically as it did before. I have noticed though, that my Roku box, laptops, and skype on my Mac desktop seem to be having periods of slower download (Roku box), skype choppiness, and download that stop. I was thinking that perhaps if I upgraded the firmware, my performance might improve. After reading the sticky, it seems like firmware may not be the answer. This is a reliable but older piece of equipment, and now I'm thinking that I just need to upgrade to a newer and perhaps more advanced router.
I am using DIR 615 Hardware Version JX... When I check for an update to FIRMWARE I get the following message, "Did not get information".In the past when I clicked on there may be a firmware update on our site. Which doesn't even list Rev Jx as an option.I am having a lot of trouble with this router in regards to VPN and must have in China, and am hoping an update is available. [code]
