D-Link DIR-655 :: Log External IP To Track Who Checks In And For How Long
Jul 20, 2011
I have a webcam set up on my website that feeds from my router here.
Is there a way to track who checks in and for how long? I have a few folks that have decided to park their butts on the cameras all day long, I want to block them.
I set up a port forward, I think I have everything set up correctly. The cam works fine, just can't seem to find the log where they came from

I've been looking around for a way to track my usage on my D-Link router. Any posts to address this seem to be a few years old. At that time, there was nothing I could do to track it via the 825. Any 3rd party firmware or anything from DLink that I can use?

I want to create a link between two homes about 10/15 miles away from each other. I was thinking about using microwave technology to achieve this. I would like to be able to use this connection for linking two home networks/internet and possibly running iptv and voip over the link. I was hoping to operate in the unlicensed frequency.

I currently have a D-Link DGL-4500.
I am looking for a more powerful wireless router that has a larger range. I want to have the ability to use the laptop at the house next door, so I need a range of like 150 ft, going through multiple walls (both concrete and wood) and still have enough for general Internet access.
My first question is if it's even possible and if so, what is a good router/system to use.
I would still need the ability to connect Ethernet to the router (at least 4 ports) and the wireless, obviously.
A major benefit as well would be the ability to install something like pfSense or DD-WRT onto for further management.

Sometimes "unplugged" suddenly apears after the modem has been identified and was working properly. Is this the normal behavior of this device ? Why ? What can be done ? I'm Using Alcatel X500D 3g modem.

I have a DIR-825 Rev. B1 wireless router running FW ver.NA2.0.7. I want to connect a Seagate 4Tb external HDD with USB 3.0 into the USB 2.0 port on the router to use the hdd as a NAS and run backups of the data files on the computers of my home network. The computers are running Windows 7 - 64bit. Plugging the hdd into the USB port on the computer lets it be recognized and ensured that Windows 7 had the most current drivers. When I plug the external hdd into the USB 2.0 port on the router and then plugging in the hdd and resetting the router, I still cannot get the computer to find the hdd on the network.

I have a home desktop, home laptop, and work laptop that I use. I have Ultra VNC setup on my work laptop that allows me to remote into that machine when I am traveling for work. I have always been able to use the external IP address (not private) to login into the machine with no problem. This week, for some reason, I can no longer do that. When I started doing some discovery, I noticed that when I have all 3 machines booted up at home that the exact same external IP address is assigned to all 3 machines. The internal IP addresses are all different as they should be.Shouldn't each machine have a seperate external IP address assigned as well? Or is this working the way it should? I didn't change any setting on my router or DSL model. But I think the conflict that VNC is having on my work laptop is that it has the exact same IP as the destination computer and it fails. I can remote in if I use the private IP address (192.168.x.x) just fine.

I recently purchased the dir-655 router, and am impressed by it's speed. I had no problems configuring the router to my liking, and have found that all of my wireless devices communicate with it flawlessly.
However, my main reason for purchasing this router was for the USB port. I had hoped to connect my 2TB external drive and have it accessible by all wireless devices in my home. To my understanding, the USB port relies on the use of the Shareport Utility. I've installed the Shareport Utility to my laptop for wireless access to my media files for streaming.
Here's my problem. How can I access my media on my external HDD connected to the dir-655 with Apple TV2? I've read several options for PS3 users... and they all seem to involve leaving the pc/laptop running. I would ultimately like to bypass the necessity of leaving my laptop on... but if that's not a possibility, I can live with it being left on.
Therefore, is it possible to access the external drive connected to the dir-655 with my Apple TV 2 by using the laptop as a bridge? Can I access the content via Apple TV by using Windows SMB just as I currently do to access media stored on my laptop?
To summarize, I want to have access to the media on my external drive connected to the dir-655 via Apple TV2.

Both my DIR-655 and DIR-815, when setup as wireless access points, are unable to ping external IP addresses and thus cannot contact the dlink ntp servers. I've disabled UPnP, disabled DHCP, changed the LAN IP address to an available address on the network. The wireless works, devices are getting an IP from the network DHCP server and can surf the internet. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses. I would like to record the camera feed (per 5 min. files) on my server (ubuntu or windows)
I Installed a FTP server and tried the option "always" in the "video clip" section, but unfortunately, it seem not possible to record more than 10 seconds files every 60 seconds . I think that this is a bug ?
Do you know, if we have a possibility to record the camera feed, I would like to manage it from the webcam or with an external program running as a service.

I couldn't find a section for the 651.
Alright so I have an SSH server running on my network. I can successfully connect to it from a local computer using the server's internal IP address, AND I can connect to it from a remote computer using the server's external IP address (it's properly port forwarded).
However, when I try to connect to the server from a local computer using it's external IP address, I get a connection refused error. Is there something I'm missing?

Goal: To forward requests over port 80 from my LAN to an external server on a specific port, that is I would like to forward all requests over http to an external proxy.
I know that this can be done with IP-Tables, but I would like to do the same thing with my D-Link. I have looked at Advanced --> Routing, but that seems to be specifically for inbound requests. I want to do this for outbound requests. This can be achieved with the D-Link DIR-655?

I currently use a D-Link DIR-655 router on a game server I run and I've been having this problem for sometime now. I have the router hooked up to the internet modem, and then my server computer hooked up to the router's first port. I use port forwarding to forward the game ports, as well as my FTP server ports. I have about 80 clients or so logged in at a time on my server. The issue is the following. Our internet connection has an external IP of 67.23.155.123 (this is just an example). My internal IP is 192.168.0.101.When I do "netstat" to see all the clients logged in to the game server on this computer or when I run Wireshark, every client logged in to the server (for this game application) is shown as having an IP of 67.23.155.123 (the server's external IP).On the other hand, for our FileZilla FTP server, if I run Wireshark/netstat, I can actually see the client's external IP (i.e. each individual IP of people logged into the FTP).If I hook up the server directly to the internet modem, this isn't a problem, and I am able to correctly see the IP of each client logged in to the game server individually.

Model : TL-WR2543ND
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : I have an external HDD that I regularly use in any computer I have access. It's an HDD enclosure 2.5" 3.0 USB, with a 750GB WD HDD inside. I use it in computers with all versions of USB, even in my TV. It doens't require an external power source, and just have 01 input/output, which is a USB port. After plugging it in the router (running with the last available firmware from TP-LINK - 3.13.27 Build 121207), I entered the setup screen of the router, and under USB Settings, pressed RESCAN, but the HDD wasn't recognized. What happens is that when I plug it in the router, the LED in it starts blinking (in normal usage, the LED becomes red for a couple of seconds, and then becomes steadly blue, when it gets connected into a equipment). It is probably a matter of power, as if the router wasn't providing enough power to it when it's plugged.Afterwards, I've made the following tests:
1) Used this External HDD in 3 different equipments (a notebook, a netbook and a TV), with different versions of USB ports. It was recognized and read normally in all of them.
2) I tested a pendrive with the router. After RESCAN, it was shown normally in Storage Sharing page.
3) I have downgraded the firmware to 120509 version, plugged the HDD in the router, and once again, it was an unsuccessful try.
What I can conclude from those tests is that:
1) My External HDD is working normally;
2) The router's USB port is working properly;
3) So, if both are working, it can only be a matter of compatibility between them.

Just updated to the 1.01 firmware on my DIR-815 and now it doesn't handle loopbacks anymore.
For instance, I have a dyndns address of ericnewton76.dyndns.org. This points to my router. Works fine if you're NOT within the router's internal network, ie, outside hosts can get in just fine (try it... http:// , you'll see an IIS7 welcome screen)
However, when INSIDE the network, the requests don't get connected properly, and they used to... ie, I work with code, so my svn repo is at ericnewton76.dyndns.org/svn but inside my network it doesn't connect properly anymore (whereas it used to before firmware update)
So now I wish I could back-peddle to 1.0 firmware.

I am trying to restrict external access to a ftp server I have running, to a single external IP address. Is this possible? It can be done for the Remote Management IP Address page, where you can enter a single address or 255.255.255.255 to allow all external hosts. But the set up of a virtual server does not appear to have that option.

The router is not showing my external hard drive in the usb settings. The Hard drive is a seagate 7200rpm 1.5tb. The hard drive works just fine when plugged into my computer. I have tried NTFS and EXFAT. My 2gb usb drive in FAT32 shows up just fine. The external has its own power supply. Is there anything I am missing that would cause it to not work?

My home network has two routers. My setup is...modem to router 1, then router 1 to router 2. is there a way to track the bandwidth usage on the two routers. My ISP says that I'm going over my bandwidth allowance and that's because in my household, we are hardcore gamers, netflix, and internet users. Router 2 belongs to my sister-in-law, and router 1 is mine. But I want to know which and more importantly, "WHO" is using more of the bandwidth.
