View 2 RepliesI know this is a "home" router, but there are a lot of common vulnerabilities that can be detected.
1. Is there any intent to offer a firmware update for the Non Cloud Connect option.
2. Does Cisco intend to make the Cloud Connect Firmware "feature complete" compared to the Non Cloud Connect?
3. Is there going to be support for Stateful DHCPv6?
im having a problem on my DIR-655, i just recently updated my DIR 655 2.03NA(which is no problem at all) to 2.10NA, & im having problem on my GUEST ZONE wireless network everytime i connect my Iphone 4 to it every second 10 seconds it goes on & off & i try to connect to the main wireless network it was working fine any causes to this?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have disabled the internal DHCP/DNS server in the routers firmware. I have enabled the wireless guest access SSID. A client associating with the Guest Wireless Access will obtain a DHCP address from the server in the LAN zone, but cannot resolve DNS as the firewall prevents traffic to flow from the Guest zone to the LAN zone, as it should. Is there a way to enable the DHCP server and DNS server in the routers firmware, but only on the Guest Zone? Is it possible to get the Guest Zone to have a different subnet?Tech support has hung up on me twice now.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a way to prioritize traffic on the router's main WiFi over the guest zone or if there is a way to limit the bandwidth on the guest zone.
Ideally, I'd like to keep a locked primary WiFi for high-speed usage (I know, nothing it really ever secure) and an open guest zone for low-speed usage to whomever wants it. As far as I can tell, the DIR-655 doesn't support this kind of configuration.
I recently picked up a 655 with hardware version A2 and flashed to the latest firmware. I have a HotBrick router. I only want to use the 655 as an access point AND especially to use the Guest Access or Guest Zone feature to allow visitors to bring their laptops and not virus up my network. My home network is open among a few computers for things like SageTV, file serving, etc.I can get the 655 to function just fine as a standard access point by following the instructions to turn off UPNP, DHCP, etc. as outlined in the manual. I then enable the Guest Access/Zone feature, and of course give it a different SSID name, make sure it's on 24 hours a day, that it is enabled, etc.
But, none of my computers can access the internet via the Guest Account feature, just the regular wireless portion. They show connecting to the Guest Account name, etc. but no internet. I've disabled every security feature I know of to test this. Again, the "regular" WAP tests great, but no Guest Account, which is really important and one of the main reasons I bought the unit.I'm wondering - does the Guest Account feature only work if the 655 is the main router, has DHCP enabled, etc.? Does it have to be the one and only router? If so, I'm in trouble, because I can't really give up my HotBrick due to failover features, etc.
I recently changed my ssid name from the default "dlink" to a more unique one. The problem is that the router is still broadcasting the default ssid along with the new one. Guest zone is disabled and the new ssid is hidden. But the default ssid is not hidded. Using wpa2 with aes, hardware ver. A1/A2 Firmware ver 1.21. How to remove the "dlink" ssid?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of getting the DAP-1522 access point but I wondered. Can I set it to broadcast on 5GHz for my laptop and ipad, so they can stream video. Then set the guest zone to broadcast on 2.4GHz just for my lame printer, my printer does not have LAN and only wireless b & g. If I do put the printer on the guest zone and I enable routing between zones, will my laptop be able to print to my printer?
View 1 Replies View Related207.NA Firmware, B1 Hardware in use on a DIR-655, Time Warner Cable setup. Nothing to do with Revision, cordless phones,I saw this asked once before specifically here, but it was never answered. After several attacks via our cable network and neighbors, we've HAD to turn on MAC filtering. There are TONS of devices attached normally so two situations popped up:
#1: What happens when you max out the authorized MAC address listings? Does the page get longer when you save/reboot it? Do I have to do it manually from there forward and where can I get down to the core programming level to edit the code and put the MAC's that are around and on 100% of the time to open up the plug-in list on the GUI?
#2: Guest Zone - we NEED a way to have random guests get on our Network with a different password we can randomly change to prevent the outside abuse, etc. but am I understanding what little else has been posted that the MAC filtering also covers the Guest Zone and therefore I have to stick them in there before they could simply log on with the current password? Is there any way to change/stop that without eliminating MAC filtration as a whole?
I am fortunate enough to have unlimited interwebs through my DSL ISP, and I occasionally have guests that come by who would like to use it on their mobile devices. My problem is that when my Guest Zone is enabled there is no internet access. Otherwise the Zone functions 'normally' devices within the zone can view each other, but not outside. It is important for me that the Guest Zone doesn't see any of the devices within my Host Zone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-615 router, hardware rev. C1 running firmware v. 3.10, dated 4/17/09. I've been beating my head against the wall trying to get this router to properly forward ports for a bit torrent application, but it not only won't do that, it doesn't want to save DHCP reservations and it doesn't want to recognize my computer on the LAN if I set a static IP address (although it does allow my computer to connect and get an internet connection). From the D-Link website, the description of firmware update 3.12NA looks like it might take care of these problems, but I can't get the router to update. When I log into the router and check for updates, it returns a message saying the latest update is v. 3.11, dated 9/15/09. However, when I attempt to download the update, nothing happens. The D-Link website offers update 3.11NA (4/20/09), 3.12NA (3/8/10), and 3.13NA (9/30/10). Why does the website offer me a different update than the router itself? I downloaded 3.13NA and unzipped the folder, which has a text file and a .bin file; I presume the latter is the update. However, when I browse to this file and attempt to upload it to the router, nothing happens. How the heck do I update this router?

I just bought my DIR-825 from Frys and it came stock with 2.02NA B1 firmware, but everytime I try to update it to 2.03/2.04/2.05/2.06 it errors saying it might not be the same hardware or something on the lines of that. View 15 Replies View RelatedCurrently running firmware version 1.32NA on DIR-655 (hardware version A4). I have made multiple attempts at updating its firmware, first to 1.33NA and later to 1.34 Beta 3, with no success: on each occasion, it accepts the local .bin file upload, then claims to be in the process of applying the upload (with I think an 80 second countdown), and eventually comes back to the login page, still showing that it's running firmware v1.32NA (verified after logon, refresh, etc -- no update was applied). I have attempted this immediately after a soft reset of the router and even after a hard (power cycle) reset, but still no success.
(Any reason to think that the update might work if performed while the router is disconnected from the Internet? or after a configuration reset?
I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
I've been having wireless range issues lately with my dir-615: a lot of holes seemed to have popped up in my house despite nothing changed (house or router location). This is after at least 2-3 years of good coverage and no issues. Went to look at the firmware & found 2.0 installed. Found out online that (I think) firmware is now at 4.11. Tried to download and install but both finding the update and unzipping it proved challenging. Specifically for the latter, unzipping kept yielding more zipped packages, like a russian doll

View 2 Replies View RelatedI read the sticky related to firmware updates. I have a DIR-655, that has been been giving me good service for quite a few years. I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy as I have managed to keep my home network and computers running over the years, but I'm not knowledgable in these matters. I am still running firmware 1.10, and have not wanted to take a chance that if I upgraded I would find myself with numerous devices with no connectivity (running mix of Mac and PC desktops and laptops, XBox, Wii, Roku box, numerous iPhones and iPods, LG TV, and an iPad).
Recently I moved to the cable company phone, and they added a new modem. They have it set as a gateway (I think that is the terminology), and my network works basically as it did before. I have noticed though, that my Roku box, laptops, and skype on my Mac desktop seem to be having periods of slower download (Roku box), skype choppiness, and download that stop. I was thinking that perhaps if I upgraded the firmware, my performance might improve. After reading the sticky, it seems like firmware may not be the answer. This is a reliable but older piece of equipment, and now I'm thinking that I just need to upgrade to a newer and perhaps more advanced router.
I am using DIR 615 Hardware Version JX... When I check for an update to FIRMWARE I get the following message, "Did not get information".In the past when I clicked on there may be a firmware update on our site. I just downloaded and tried to apply the latest Firmware update to my dcs-930l. It failed or timed out. Now the camera is unusable. I tried the hard reset, several times, holding it in for 10 seconds after 3 seconds did not work. I held it in for 3 seconds, waited 1 minute, and just got a flashing red light. I did the same thing after holding reset in for 10 seconds. I have unplugged and replugged in the network cable on both ends several times and turned the power off and on on the router and camera several times. The camera only blinks with a red flashing light. Is it a brick now? Is there any other magic tricks to try?

I have a DIR-655 router running 1.21. The last couple of years, I've always been checking the firmware version by pushing the "Check Now" button on the web management - it has always responded with "This firmware is the latest version. " I've been researching networking monitoring tools and came across this link: [URL] It requires that you update to the latest firmware - and this time I sued on the on-line link - and it turns out that the firmware version for my device is actually 1.35NA?So... first question is - why does my router tell me that 1.21 is the current version?I'd like the network widget - what are pros/cons of updating from 1.21 to 1.35NA?Have there been fixes to the scheduling portion? - 1.21 cannot handle 24-hour time properly. I also have to reset the router daily - sometimes more often - due to problems when used wirelessly. (Fortunately I try to use wired as much as I can.)

Like many others with the W8968 Modem Router we are experiencing sudden disconnections from the internet every 1/2/3 hours with the only way to cure the problem is to hard reset the modem router. For your tech staff on the phone to say 'I'll just have to do this" is completely unacceptable.I have used 3 other modem routers with the exact same setup flawlessly with no disconnections so it's 110% the modem routers problem.I'm pushing this message for you, TP-Link, to release a new firmware version to fix this problem.
I also believe there are other problems incorporating port forwarding, etc aside from this major flaw.I used to believe TP-Link was a trusted and great company but after my experience I'll be thinking otherwise.
