D-Link DIR-825 :: Getting Access Point And Signal Strength?

Nov 21, 2011

I have connected my DIR-825 to my cable modem through the network ports and completed the configuration.  Everything works fine, I am able to connect through wireless to the DIR-825 and access the internet.  I had to do this as my cable modem is also wireless and does not allow another router to be connected through the internet connection, but I want to get a better signal stength than the cable modem. When I am not wireless connected, I can see the two bands at full strength in the view available wireless networks screen.  As soon as I connect to either the 2.4 channel or the 5 channel, the signal strenth of the channel I'm connected to drops to horrible, while the non-connected one still shows at full strength.i tried disabling one of the channels, but as soon as I connect to the other, that channels signal strength still drops to horrible.

Linksys Access Point :: WET610N Range And Signal Strength?

Nov 9, 2011

I'm trying to use the WET610N as a sort of access point/range extender for a single device, a remote monitoring system installed in a barn. It records temperature, power use, etc, and reports it to the internet. The barn is about 250 feet from the house where the wireless router is installed. There will be very little data flowing over the link.Setup on the WET610N went fine, and it saw the remote router at 10% strength and connected to it fine. However, when I attempt to get Status, the screen shows the headings on the left and no data on the right. Attempting to access the internet through the link on my MacBook Pro failed.

Linksys Access Point :: Increase Signal Strength And Range Of WAP54G?

Jan 19, 2009

I have a WAP54G and the signal strength and range is not that great; unit manufactured in 04/2007.  I have firmware version 3.04 dated Oct 31, 2005.  Customer support is suggesting I upgrade the firmware to 3.04.03 but I am sure it will really do anything to the signal strength and range.  Also, they suggested I download new drivers for my desktop wireless card.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Getting Low Signal Strength / Speed?

Mar 25, 2011

I have my DIR-655 router set up on the first floor because my son's tricked out gaming rig is in the basement while our office is on the 2nd floor.  On the router, I tweaked settings to give him priority speed when he is gaming.  Although he complains about his speeds and connectivity.  In our 2nd floor office -- which is one floor and 30 ft through a wall away -- my signal strength varies from 45% to 70%.  There are times when neighbor's networks show greater strength than mine does.  I live in a house so the physical distance is much greater plus there are two exterior walls, no matter where their router is placed.  The adapter in the office computer is a D-Link DWA-556.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Low Signal Strength In Room

Mar 16, 2012

My question has to do with the low signal strength of my dir-655.  I have it set up in the second bedroom of my apartment.  When I am sitting in my living room (about 30 feet away) it's really hard to pull in a signal of more than one bar on my phone, or two bars on my wife's kindle fire and will often drop the signal all together.  But, if I search for networks, tons of other routers come up with excellent signal strength from our neighbors.  Is there something I need to know about expanding the signal strength?

Using Repeater To Extend Signal Of Access Point Both TP-Link TL-WA901ND?

Jan 9, 2012

Im in abit of trouble trying to setup a wireless network. Part of the problem is that I am many miles away and I've never setup a wifi-netork involving more than one device, that device being a router.I connected the TL-WA901ND to the router(a Thomson tg787) located in the house, this router couldn't be used simply because the SSID and its password is locked, and we sometimes have people renting the bottom floor and we would prefer a better SSID and a changable password for the network. The first TL-WA901ND(will call this one TL1(AP) from now on, the other being TL2(RP)) is set to operate as Access Point, having a different SSID and password for the network, and it works great. However, when I try to set the other one, TL2(RP) to repeater mode, with the TL1(AP) and that SSID/MAC as "target", it doesn't seem to work. I've tried using bot the repeater mode and the universal repeater mode but none of them seem to do the job.Is is possible to repeat the signal of an access point or does it have to be a router? The SSID and the WPAkey of the repeater is set to the same as the access point, is that correct? The access point is not the one handing out IP-addresses, the router is still acting as the DHCP-server, is that correct?

D-link Dir-825 :: Increase Wifi Signal Strength With Software?

Apr 5, 2013

Even though I put high gain antennas on my routers which extended the range of good signal immensely, I wish to try to get even better signal strength also.   When using manual configuration mode on the router, I have set the WiFi power level to 100% (default level).  Is there a way to increase that level beyond 100% and "overdrive" the signal?  I tried to input a number >100% and that was not accepted.

I know this is possible if I go to dd-wrt, and possibly with open-wrt, which I prefer not to do for various reasons, not the least of which is that I have both a Rev. A1 and a Rev. B1 router (Rev. A1 is not supposed to support dd-wrt).  I also know that increasing the power will make the router run hotter.  I am willing to risk it as I monitor the temperature regularly.

Has anyone ever tried to do this or, have the people who want this just gone to dd-wrt?  From the dd-wrt forum it appears that the DIR-825 router in Rev. B1 is not very user friendly to dd-wrt.  After 3 years the code is still flaky.  I would prefer not to use it, if possible.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Signal Strength Is A Little Weak On Main Floor

Jan 5, 2012

I have a DIR-825 in my basement at one end of the house and it works great.  My problem is the signal strength is a little weak on the main floor at the other end of the house.  I would like to add a second access point to cover that end of the house.  Do I need to get another DIR-825 and wire it to the original or is there another option?  I obviously don't need all the features of the DIR-825 for the 2nd AP, but I cant find a less expensive option that will still allow me to use both bands.

Access Point Or Wifi Signal Booster / D-link Wireless N Gigabit Router

Jan 2, 2013

Got 1 Linksys WRT54G Router on the ground floor which uses PTCL DSL Internet and 1 D-Link Wireless N Gigabit Router on the first floor which uses World Call Cable Internet of my house. So yeah we have two internet connections.Getting weak signals from both of the routers in my room on the far left side of the house and little to no signals in the basementSo what I want to ask is that should I purchase better routers or should I go with a signal booster of some sorts like an Access Point or a Range Extender? Also is there such a device which would catch signals from both of these differently configured routers ( different internets, different wireless security keys etc ) and then boost them throughout the house if placed in an area where both the router signals are strong?

Linksys Access Point :: Amplifying WRT160N Signal With Secondary AP

Mar 13, 2012

My Linksys Wireless-N router/access point (WRT160NV2) is connected to the internet in my primary residence, delivering 35mbps. I purchased a commercial Engenius product (EAP9550) to amplify the wifi signal over to a secondary house (about 180 ft away, traveling through 3 walls). Configured as an access point, the EAP9550 received and showed signal, but there was zero connectivity. The tech support at Engenius has advised me to configure the EAP9550 as an access point. My linksys router continues to deliver wireless signal for its range, but is only showing (not giving) full connectivity to the secondary access point.

Cisco Wireless :: 1142 Access Point Signal Pulsing

Aug 1, 2012

I've recently set up a guest wireless in my office, using a WLC 2504 controlling 4 1142 APs. They have been working great for about a month, but as of yesterday, the Wifi signal from 2 of the APs began to pulse - 5 seconds on, 1 second off - which makes it unusable. [code]

All APs are receiving PoE from their last 3750 (at default levels). I've cycled the individual APs, as well as the WLC, but the issue remains.Except for the initial 3750 directly connected, all other 3750's are different.

Wireless Low Connectivity / Signal Strength

May 16, 2011

I have three desktops and one lap. I have TWC RCA modem and cisco linksys router and two usb adapters for wireless connection. situation is this: the modem and router are at one end of the house and one of the pc's is located at the other end. that one gets low signal strength only one or two bars and the internet works slowly to a point it feels like i'm on dial up. I've had people tell me to upgrade the router from wrt45g to n which I did to an e1000, but I still have the same issue. also was told to move the modem and router to the center of the house. but twc says that would not correct the issue.

Something about dividing the mpbs and the farther the pc the lower the signal. so, guess my question would be 1. does that sound correct to you. would it be better to move the modem and router? would it be better to have the one in question wired in? I did try an extender by netgear, which gave more bars/signal strength but but then would not connect to the internet. but I did that before I got newer linksys router. not sure if maybe I should try the extender again, but then the geek squad, when they came an set up the new router, said that it would probably do the same thing.

Cisco Wireless :: WAP 200 - Poor Signal Strength

Nov 21, 2010

I have purchased two WAP200 units to act as access point and repeater. AP and repeater functionality works fine.

The issue I am having is extremely poor signal from both units. Even when very close to the WAP200, I get poor signal quality. The range before loosing connection is only a few feet.

I'm using the antennas that came with the box and have tried multiple placements both in my house and in other locations. I have also tried changing several of the configurations without any effect on the signal strength. Older D-link and Linksys routers provide good reception to most of my house from the same location.
