I have an xps 1640 with Windows Vista 64bit. I cannot see or connect to my wireless network even though other devices and PC's have no issue connecting via wireless. I have tried everything i can think of including the following:
the mcafee fix
turning on and off wireless using both the bios and hotkey on the laptop
downloading the newest driver
running the repair using the latest driver
the diagnostic scan on the dell.ca/support site
turning off and on the firewall
changing the advanced settings through the device manager in the control panel
setting up the wireless connection manually using the ssid and wep key
....and probably some others i have forgotten
the wireless is turned on but the adapter just can't find any wireless networks even though the laptop is inches from the router. the adapter model is the intel 5100 (i believe)
I have a dell studio XPS, when I remove the battery, there is a slot for inserting SIM card for connecting to internet (through SIM card).I inserted SIM card and it fixed in slot and also installed Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility, but when run DMBC, it say No Device Detected. My windows is 7 64bit.What I must do for use SIM card dongle? If my dell laptop support UMT?If no, what is this SIM card slot?
I bought my Dell XPS 1640 in 2009, as wireless connection card I have an intel Wifi link 5100 AGN. This card worked properly till last week all of a sudden i got unexpected DC's and all this requierd me to restart the PC 4-5 times to get 5 minutes of internet.
I know this is a known issue and it occures on random times according to the forum mentioned below url...
My question is is there a new line of cards for my laptop which DON'T have any reports about this?
A few days ago, I noticed that my computer wasn't picking up my wired connection anymore while the wireless connection was still working fine. I opened up my network adapters and my Local Area Connection adapter wasn't even showing anymore, only the Wireless adapter. I updated my drivers, tried different cables and even a different router but still no dice. This morning, when I booted up my system, Windows said it was installing driver software for Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I got really excited when I saw Local Area Connection in my adapter menu and plugged in my ethernet cable. Nothing happened and my laptop refuses to recognize the ethernet cable plugged in to it. It's a Dell XPS 1640, Windows 7 x64 with Service Pack 1.
P.S. Usually a little orange light appears in the ethernet port on my computer when a chord is plugged in. When I turned on my computer this morning with the chord in, the light was on. When Windows finished booting, the light went off.
I just recently bought a wireless router (DIR-615) from dlink. After installing it my laptop cannot connect to the wifi network but all other devices(iphones,etc..) can. After speaking with the dlink techs they told me it probably was a problem with my wifi adapter. I downloaded the latest driver with no success. I don't know what to try anymore.
I recently install Windows8 Enterprise build 9200 on my Dell XPS L502X and everything is working fine so far except my modem. In device manager its installed properly but the network manager doesn't list it as an option to connect to (as it usually would in win7),
I had a 'No boot sector in internal hard drive' displayed, could not boot up, had to fresh install, lost everything. But now do not seem to have a wireless connection? I have a Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller. Is this for wireless capability? My Fn/F2 key to switch on wireless does not work either.
I have a Dell Latitude D630 that connects to the wireless network but goes off after 10 to 15 minutes. I have to restart the notebook for the wireless to pick up again.
I just set up a wireless router in my home to my Dimension 510 computer. I know the wirelss is working because our Ps#, Iphones and ITouches can receive the signals.
However, our other desktop Dimension 510 does not appear to be receiving the wireless signal.
does it just not have the capability to receive a wireless signal and I have to use an ethernet cable connection?
Is there something I need to add in order for it to receive the sireless signal (some one mentioned an adapter but I thought an adapter just boosts the signal, and the desktop is the closest device to the network router so it should be receiveing the signal okay).
I just got my first wi-fi printer, a V715w. Even though the Wi-Fi light on the front of the printer is green, I very often can't print to the printer. I get a box saying the printer can't communicate with the computer. I would have thought that the green light was signifying that Wi-Fi communications existed. Wrong? Then what does the green light signify? When I check the settings on the printer front panel, it shows the all the correct info, SSID, etc.. Do I need to do something each time before I try to print in order to ensure a wireless connection exists? Shouldn't the printer stay connected to the Netgear dual band wireless N router all the time? The computer, Win XP, sp3 stays connected to the router all the time. I expected the printer to do the same.
My pc is connected to the ethernet chord at home. I can go anywhere else and connect with a wireless connection but I can't in my own house. Every time I try I get an error the the network adapter isn't found. The trouble shooter can't even fix it. Everyone else in the house has no issues connecting with a wireless connection. The wireless connection has worked maybe twice for me since I purchased the laptop (May 2012). Since I am more comfortable at my desk it's no issue but there is a new printer that I can't connect to because I can't download the driver because I have to unplug my laptop to go in the other room to get to it.
How do I take away the red X and the "Not Connected" for my DELL WIreless 1390 WLAN Mini Card in order for it to recognize my Netgear Wireless N-300.? I am working with Windows XP. I have all necessary boxes checked to allow for 1390 to coordinate all wireless functions.
I bought a Dell Inspiron17R SE 7720 with an Intel Wireless 2230 card. I was told I could connect a Netgear Push2TV adapter that would allow me to connect to my TV wirelessly. When I went to connect it, I was able to get the TV to the point of asking me to Launch my Intel Wireless Display. I go to my programs but cannot find anything that mentions Wi-Di. I am not very tech savvy, so I don't know what to do. Is there a driver I can download? Am I missing something on my computer programs? Should I use another method and send the part back to Dell?
I bought a new hard drive, installed windows 7 again, all went as planned except I have no wireless connection. Installed all drivers, in the order provided for on this website, and still nothing. I've tried updating windows, have reinstalled a total of 4 times all the while using the order provided for here. Nothing is working and I can't find an answer anywhere.
i have been experiencing problems with my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running windows XP. For some reason my laptop connects to my network for a few minutes then disconnects, then it reconnects for a few minutes and disconnects. This happens repeatedly. I replaced my old Linksys WRT54G v.8 router with a DLink DIR-655 N Router thinking this would solve the problem but it didnt. I also positioned the new router higher than the last one, about 5 feet from the floor. The drivers for the Intel WiFi Link 5100 Mini Wireless Card on my laptop appears up to date, the current driver version is 13.5.0.6 from Intel. I don't experience wireless connection problems with my iPhone, apple tv or Xbox 360. Additionally, my DLink routers firmware is up to date.
I am able to connect to my home network with a wireless connection, and the signal is strong at first, but then immediately drops as soon as I move the laptop more than a few feet from the router and then can't connect at all. I have not had this issue with two other laptops with the same settings. The adapter has been uninstalled, driver updated, tried different router and adapter settings, etc. with no luck. Is it possible there is a problem with the wireless antenna?

I recently bought a Dell XPS One 27" running on Windows 7. The wireless card inside is Dell WIreless 1703 802.11b/g/n
it's sitting next to my 10 year old Sony VAIO laptop. When i run speedtest.net on the machines, the XPS One 27 gets about half the speed my 10 year old laptop gets
Any issues with this card or this Dell configuration?
I purchased this router a few months ago from Dell. It is currently limiting our Internet connection to no more than 2 Mbps down. I originally thought it was our Internet service and them troubleshoot the line but they found nothing wrong. If I bypass the router and connect directly to the modem, we get our normal speed of 10+ Mbps. I've updated the router firmware, tried tweaking according to other tips I've found, but cannot get past the slow speeds.
Sometimes the connection will be lost altogether and when I try to reconnect it says "unable to connect" and I have to wait 5/10 mins until the laptop connects it's self again automatically.Other times, the signal strength shows as full (in the bottom right) but a yellow triangle appears with an exclamation mark in it and the status reads "Currently connected to Talk Talk 388380 No internet access". It stays like this for several minutes, then goes back to normal!?I've recently had fiber optic broadband installed, but I don't think this is the issue as it was happening before.Even when the internet is working, the connection speed is really poor; YouTube videos constantly buffer, even on low quality.I've plugged in the ethernet cable today and it appears to work fine, so I think it must be an issue with the laptop[CODE]
I am running my laptop on Windows 7 Proffesional 32 bit and it won't let me search for a wireless connection on the Control Panel I think it might be a problem with the wireless switch at the bottom as it doesn't show the wireless sign on the laptop. I have also tried running the laptop on Ultimate 64 bit but the problem continued to persist.
Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron M5030 and realized it has a toshiba hard drive installed. I'm having trouble enabling the wireless on it, also I can't setup a connection with my router. I tried enabling the wireless but I get an run-time error '13' type mismatch
I have a dell 1558 studio with windows seven. my router is a linskys. My laptop will connect to the internet and stay connected but every few minutes or so it will drop out of connection and then automatically reconnect.
We have a Dell Inspiron E 1405 in which we replaced the hard drive. We have been unable to connect to our wireless AT&T Uverse 2WIRE router at home. We have tried many different ideas from the Internet, but nothing anybody suggests has worked. We are not very computer-savvy, so we are probably missing something that would be quite obvious to pros. We have Windows XP on this laptop.
My Inspiron N5110 loses the wireless connection frequently. We have many other devices in the house -- laptops, iPhones, etc. -- that continue to work flawlessly through the same router when I lose my connection. The troubleshooter generally leads me to resetting the router, even though, as I have indicated, the router is working properly.
I have lost my wireless internet connection it has been working perfectly, I phoned Sky and they say I will have to speak to dell to see where my internet has gone. I have a Studio 1745 Laptop. Is there a manual disable button on my laptop that I may have disabled by mistake.
the computer was using a different program to manage the wireless connection. Even though it said it was connected, my internet didn't work. Not knowing anything about this new program, I removed it and tried to connect with the Windows wireless manager. It didn't acknowledge any of the wireless connections around, just a computer-to-computer connection. I took it to a friend's apartment to use their computer and internet to search for options and it still didn't recognize any networks around, now not even the computer-to-computer connection. It now tells me "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on...." The Mini doesn't have a "switch," but I read where F2 can turn it on...however, pressing Fn-F2 is not working for me, either.
I have an Inspiron 6000 (inherited from my kids). It worked great for a while, at home or on the road whenever I needed to connect to the internet via a wi-fi hotspot, until recently. I can still connect at home (wireless) automatically, but outside of the house, I can't get any wireless connection.
