View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a WPC54G wireless adaptor to connect a laptop to my home network. I just replaced a WRT54G2 router with a Cisco Valet router. When I start up the laptop, the wireless adaptor's Monitor configuration takes priority over Windows XP wireless configuration, but the Cisco Valet does not recognize the Monitor. If I disable the Monitor, everything is fine until I reboot, and then the Monitor again prevents connecting to the router.
How do I permanently disable the Monitor software so that the laptop will default to the Windows XP wireless configuration settings?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 64 Bit machine, and I cannot find a way to disable the IPv6 Loopback. I looked at the article at How to disable IP version 6 or its specific components in Windows and shows how to set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpip6ParametersDisabledComponents to various values – but none of these seems to disable IPv6 Loopback. I attempted setting this value to 0xffffffff and 0x20 – restarting my computer after each change, and I still do not get this disabled.
I am using another software called Webdriver or Selenium that gives errors when debugging if IPv6 Loopback is not disabled. It seems to attempt to connect to [::1]:7055 and fails. Is there a way to force it to connect to 127.0.0.1.
I recently had my Internet disconnected, and decided to share my iPhone's Internet connection (tether) with my PC. Now, the iPhone connection works, but for some reason my PC prefers to use my original Internet connection thus no connection. The only way I can access the Internet is by going into adapter settings and disabling my router, but I do not want to do this as I have other computers on the network and I often share files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with any type of Network Card or Network USB adapter working with my PC running Windows 7. I had a LinkSys WMP54G PCI card working on this computer about a year ago as I was needing to use a wireless connection but then I didn't use it for 6 months. When I went to use it again, it wouldn't pick up connections at all.Thinking it was an issue with the card, I picked up a Edimax 7612UAn USB adapter thinking it should work out of the box. When I plug the USB adapter in, the standard Windows driver installation tries to run but an error message occurs stating "Device driver software was not successfully installed" accompanied by "Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB Failed". If I try to install the drivers manually, nothing changes and in Device Manager the following error message is displayed under Device Status "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a weird issue with my daughter's laptop. It will connect to the wired network, and give internet access, but it won't allow any connections via a wireless network adaptor. The laptop is on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.In device manager it says the wireless adaptor is working properly. The drivers are the latest. Down in the notification area it says "not connected - no connections are available". She has a wifi switch (Fn+F3) on the laptop, but switching it makes no difference. I have an old desktop pc that connects via a USB wifi dongle, so I plugged the dongle into the laptop. It installed without problems, but in the notification area it says the same thing, "not connected - no connections available" So now I'm thinking, "what sits between the network adaptors and Windows? How come it will connect on wired, but not wireless?"
This all started when I updated her Atheros wifi driver. From that moment on it wouldn't connect using wifi. I thought I had somehow physically broken the wifi adaptor hardware, so I bought a new one (a Killer n1202), but installing it made no difference. It's as though I have somehow altered the way that Windows communicates with any wireless adaptor. When I go to the command line and type "ipconfig /all", there is no entry for "wireless LAN adaptor wireless network connection", as there is on my other laptop.
My hp computer is not recognizing any network adapters. Im running windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI made the unpleasant discovery recently that all my corporate laptops are using the wifi network even when sitting on their docks or otherwise connected to the wired network. Most of them have intel wifi cards, and the proset software allowed me to disable-by-policy wifi if a lan connection is detected. Some, however, have a more generic wifi card that doesn't have fancy management software, leaving me with the default windows stuff. In an attempt to correct the problem I
a) Put Local Area Connections at the top of the Adapters and Bindings list
b) manually assigned cost metrics to the connections in the tcp/ip settings
making Windows 7 do what it's supposed to? Seriously, there needs to be a button you can click to roll it completely back to XP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've been getting broadband through a WRT54G v2.2 router into numerous computers with WUSB54G v4 wireless adapters into winXP PC's for years now, but I've recently got a 64bit Win7 PC which needs internet connection. I spent all day today trying to find drivers, workarounds and god knows what for the WUSB54G v4 which (I'm pretty sure now ) don't exist for a 64bit system.
How do I get internet into this Windows 7 PC? Will I just need to get a new adapter? (and will it be compatible with the current router?) I don't especially want to get a new router and several new adapters just because we have one new Win7 PC... If I do just need to get a new adapter, in terms of performance/compatibility?
Oh, and how ancient is the hardware we actually have, and does/will it effect the internet in any way?
Here is my answer to the lack of support from Cisco:
[URL] I am presently using this driver to connect.
Just picked up a WEC600N Wireless N Express Card and installed. It's working, but it's connected at 54mb and I cannot find out how to configure the wireless settings. I think I am using the Intel Proset wireless software.
Also, router is a netgear wndr3700.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer, and I cannot get my Linksys to work on it, the light doesn't light but it shows up in device manager. I've tried using Vista 32-bit drivers but it doesn't work at all, I am thinking it isn't a driver issue at all because it shows that the driver is up to date.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried to install a usb network adapter wusb100 ver.2 under win7 x64 and win7 x64 sp1(two different machines). I have installed and downloaded the latest drivers ( Driver11/09/2009 Ver.3.0.3.0 (64-bit)). Device manager reports everything is fine, but i can't find the adapter anywhere in the Network and Sharing Center on both machines, not even if i run ipconfig it won't show up. As a result of course there is no wireless connection available. Although adapter has worked fine when tested under win7 x32. But win7 x32 is not my case.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that my WUSB54GSC is completely unsupported by Windows 7, nor has Linksys published any new drivers. From browsing these forums and the internet, many other Linksys users are experiencing much trouble with getting their wireless adapters to work with Windows 7.So please, Cisco, publish new Windows 7 drivers... I'm completely taken back that there is nothing to do with Windows 7 anywhere on your site, and disappointed at none of your products being ready for the new Operating System. Im stuck with a useless router. I've tried for hours and hours to try random fixes i found on the internet, force install drivers preloaded on Windows 7, and force install the out of date Linksys drivers....to no avail. I still need to activate my Windows 7 online, and i can't activate it if my wireless adapter doesn't work. I will keep this in mind when i purchase routers/adapters in the future. I've already tried using the ra-link drivers to get my adapter working, but every time i get a "code 10" error stating that "This device cannot start". Any driver that i do install from Windows 7 pre loaded drivers ends up giving me that error. And all the out-of-date linksys drivers don't even successfully install the drivers...
