View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a 5508 controller authenticates with WPA2-enterprise to 3 possible AAA servers. Today I tried migrating our DHCP server from a Windows 2003 machine to Windows 2008 R2. Migration went smoothly and all wired clients could get IP's. Reservations intact, scopes intact, etc.. you name it. I though it was a great success.
Fast forward about an hour when people started coming into work for the day. Calls started coming in about their laptops not able to connect to the network. I double checked with a spare laptop in our IT department and also my iPhone. Same issue. Seems the only thing I changed today was the DHCP server (from 10.1.1.1 to 10.1.1.2).
After racking my head on it for awhile, I re-enabled the "old" dhcp server (10.1.1.1) and disabled it on the new (10.1.1.2). Instantly wireless clients were able to connect.
Am I missing some configuration step in the 5508 controller when moving DHCP servers? I do plan on running 2 DHCP servers (10.1.1.2 and 10.1.1.10) for redundancy once I get the primary one moved over and working correctly.
I want to decommision the older 2003 server. Its time to raise the domain functional level.
I have a Windows 7 64 Bit machine, and I cannot find a way to disable the IPv6 Loopback. I looked at the article at How to disable IP version 6 or its specific components in Windows and shows how to set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpip6ParametersDisabledComponents to various values – but none of these seems to disable IPv6 Loopback. I attempted setting this value to 0xffffffff and 0x20 – restarting my computer after each change, and I still do not get this disabled.
I am using another software called Webdriver or Selenium that gives errors when debugging if IPv6 Loopback is not disabled. It seems to attempt to connect to [::1]:7055 and fails. Is there a way to force it to connect to 127.0.0.1.
I am studying for the CCNA and have my own lab. Several months ago I setup the lab and hand things running well, and decided to put it all away for a while. Alas, now that I have brought it all out again, I don't remember the passwords I used and have since destroyed my documentation, so this is perfect practice at password recovery/config maintenance type of stuff.
I am working on a 2610XM. When I power on the router, I see all the information pasted below. I have tried the password recovery processes described in the cisco knowledge base where we use the rommon prompt to load 0x2142, reset, then enable secret <password> and followed the remainder of the instructions, but when I reload the router after the process, the new password I've set still does not work.
Some things that are not consistent from the documentation that I am seeing are the messages Slot is empty and WIC is empty.
I am wondering if my router does not use 0x2102 for it's load, but it will not show what it is using and I can't run show version because of the password. I am connecting through the console port and using putty to access and configure. Below is a paste of the startup messages after the router decompresses it's image.

Just a few weeks ago I purchased a rvs4000 router. On that small business device is a product called protectlink. To get an activation key, you need a registration key first. That is normal in the package. However, my wify like to cleanup up and throws stuff away that she should not do. So, I lost the registration key.
It is impossible to key a new registration key. The webstore does not have them. They are in the package and will not open an other one. Cisco (if you can get passed the ...you don't have a support contract...go away statement) does not even know that they have this product. Registration keys, never heard of it. But you get the normal ... go to the webstore or trendmicro.... And that after the statement, we don't know that product. How do you know that this is a trenmicro piece of software.....

I recently had my Internet disconnected, and decided to share my iPhone's Internet connection (tether) with my PC. Now, the iPhone connection works, but for some reason my PC prefers to use my original Internet connection thus no connection. The only way I can access the Internet is by going into adapter settings and disabling my router, but I do not want to do this as I have other computers on the network and I often share files.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried changing the WEP to WPA because I recently found out our neighbors were stealing internet from us. However after doing all this changing around I used 192.168... And all that and was able to change the ssid and the passphrase but after doing so the Internet stopped working. We are able to connect but it says there's no service or limited connectivity so no web pages or anything loads. Now I can't get back to the router page by typing that 192.168. stuff because there's no Internet. Don't know what to do. This is my fathers ISP and it's not the greatest considering the location. I've tried unplugging the router and whatnot but that's not working either. I think we need to get back on the router page and fix something but it's not allowing us to since there's no Internet. Am I going to have to change back to a WEP.. I dont really want too. The router may need to be upgraded too because it's pretty ancient.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA router restart. I changed the wpa to wen so I could connect my ds to wifi.So far what I have done was restart the modem, it's a Cisco wag120n. This is a wireless so the moment I changed to wen, I lost connection. I then used a cable to connect to the modem and managed to change the settings in the router page 192.168.1.1 back to wpa but with no success connecting to the Internet. I then tried ressetting the modem and computer with no luck. I cut the power to the modem router and turned off computer for 5 minutes. I then turned the modem back til it was stable and then the computer, again with no luck. I then factory reset via the button manually and via the modem page but both ended up with the unable to connect to primary DNS server.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBack in may, I built my own gaming rig and have been using wireless on it all the time. But recently my speeds has been going down, and i can't be bothered to fix it. That's why i wanted to use ethernet on it. My problem is that there is only one port on my modem for Internet, and that is being used by a routher that goes upstairs.
As you can see, i have three TV ports and one PC port. All of it is being used. One of the TV ports goes trough the wall too a exit in my wall, and goes into my TV Router as seen on the image below.
Everyday a few of the computer will error with "A duplicate name exists on the network:" A quick Google search shows the same answer EVERYWHERE on the internet. So I changed the names of a few of the computers too something I knew was unique. Still though the problem persists/ it afters the two XP bases computers the most, but my main workstations (windows 7 sp1) has had this error a few times, although it appears to have left for a while. I have a feenas server but Active directory is not turned on.My router is a e4200. I was using DHCP server on there (and would very much still like to) although I have turning it off, rebooted both the router and the computers but to no avail.
