View 9 Replies View RelatedI am studying for the CCNA and have my own lab. Several months ago I setup the lab and hand things running well, and decided to put it all away for a while. Alas, now that I have brought it all out again, I don't remember the passwords I used and have since destroyed my documentation, so this is perfect practice at password recovery/config maintenance type of stuff.
I am working on a 2610XM. When I power on the router, I see all the information pasted below. I have tried the password recovery processes described in the cisco knowledge base where we use the rommon prompt to load 0x2142, reset, then enable secret <password> and followed the remainder of the instructions, but when I reload the router after the process, the new password I've set still does not work.
Some things that are not consistent from the documentation that I am seeing are the messages Slot is empty and WIC is empty.
I am wondering if my router does not use 0x2102 for it's load, but it will not show what it is using and I can't run show version because of the password. I am connecting through the console port and using putty to access and configure. Below is a paste of the startup messages after the router decompresses it's image.

Just a few weeks ago I purchased a rvs4000 router. On that small business device is a product called protectlink. To get an activation key, you need a registration key first. That is normal in the package. However, my wify like to cleanup up and throws stuff away that she should not do. So, I lost the registration key.
It is impossible to key a new registration key. The webstore does not have them. They are in the package and will not open an other one. Cisco (if you can get passed the ...you don't have a support contract...go away statement) does not even know that they have this product. Registration keys, never heard of it. But you get the normal ... go to the webstore or trendmicro.... And that after the statement, we don't know that product. How do you know that this is a trenmicro piece of software.....

This past weekend I went out of town and took my Windows 7 laptop with me -- since I returned home, it has been unable to connect to my wireless network. Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption. My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. It says "No Internet access."

I tried to install the LLTD Download from Microsoft on the XP computer and it gives me an message telling me that "Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update". I also pinged the computers and they pinged but I still cannot get them successfully networked. What else should I try??

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm on the road traveling and am having trouble with receiving an ip conflict error message shortly after connecting my windows 7 laptop to this particular hotels wireless network. Shortly after connecting to the correct access point is when the msg appears. I've checked my wireless adapters IPv4 TCPIP properties and ensured Use DHCP is enabled and that IPv6 is disabled. I've done a release and renew on the address after connecting as well (ipconfig /release and renew)to still no avail. Oddly enough, my internet connection works great in the morning at this hotel but has this problem at night time. Are there any known issues with 7 or such a thing as a Windows 7 "unfriendly" wireless router? I don't have this problem at home on my Linksys wireless router. Works fine.

my computer has been playing up the last couple of weeks not finding my network, even though ive had it about a year now without any trouble before. my laptop and iphone still pick up the wifi with no problems.i decided to format the computer as i wanted to do a clean install anyway, which has not made any difference. i have even tried bringing the desktop downstairs now and placed it directly next the the router to see if it would pick it up then, which it hasnt.
i have used an edimax wireless usb receiver ever since the computer was new which worked fine up until now, i also purchased a wireless pci card to see if that worked (wasnt sure if my my edimax usb had broken), which still doesnt work. the drivers for both the pci card and the usb receiver are up to date.i have tried logging into the routers firmware and changed the channel from 'auto' to channels 1-12. with no luck. i have now had to plug my computer into the router via the ethernet port to get the internet working.
i also run ubuntu on a dual boot, which for some reason also doesn't pick up the wireless network. (however my laptop runs ubuntu and does pick up the wifi)
I use windows7. Previously i had a normal internet connection (i use wireless) and few days ago my computer cant identify my network. It shows that im connected but it cant identyfy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a weird issue with my daughter's laptop. It will connect to the wired network, and give internet access, but it won't allow any connections via a wireless network adaptor. The laptop is on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.In device manager it says the wireless adaptor is working properly. The drivers are the latest. Down in the notification area it says "not connected - no connections are available". She has a wifi switch (Fn+F3) on the laptop, but switching it makes no difference. I have an old desktop pc that connects via a USB wifi dongle, so I plugged the dongle into the laptop. It installed without problems, but in the notification area it says the same thing, "not connected - no connections available" So now I'm thinking, "what sits between the network adaptors and Windows? How come it will connect on wired, but not wireless?"
This all started when I updated her Atheros wifi driver. From that moment on it wouldn't connect using wifi. I thought I had somehow physically broken the wifi adaptor hardware, so I bought a new one (a Killer n1202), but installing it made no difference. It's as though I have somehow altered the way that Windows communicates with any wireless adaptor. When I go to the command line and type "ipconfig /all", there is no entry for "wireless LAN adaptor wireless network connection", as there is on my other laptop.
I have Windows 7 and suddenly my home router isn't showing up on my list of networks.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy primary source of internet at my house for the passed year is an at&t 3g usb modem (sierra wireless lightning), becuase i live in the middle of nowhere (only other option is satellite). Up until now i've been using a wireless ad hoc network to share the connection with multiple computers. I just purchased a cradlepoint router that is compatible with my usb modem so I can have a "real" wireless network in my house. I set it up yesterday and so far its working great, I have a wii streaming netflix, an android tablet, an iphone and two laptops (running vista, and win7 respectively) currently connected. The problem is my 3rd laptop, also win7. It is my primary computer that I use for business and absolutely essential that its connected to the internet. It (seems) to connect to the wireless network just fine, but gives me a "no internet access" error.
This laptop will connect to other wireless networks: it always connected to the ad-hoc, it will connect to my wifi at work and the network at my boyfriends house, also i just tried it with the verizon 3g mobile hotspot app on my droid and it connected right away. It also works just fine with a wired connection to this router (ethernet). I'm not sure where to start since every other device in my house is working with this network and this laptop will connect to other wireless networks.
ps/ Going through the windows onscreen troubleshooter it will either tell me "there is a problem with your broadband modem" or "There is a problem communicating with DNS server" (but it wont fix it)... and after going through endless google searches, i've done everything thats been suggested so far (making sure dhcp is enabled, powercycling the router/modem, updating drivers, ipconfig release/renew, disabling the firewall).
My windows 7 desktop computer is giving me a "Limited Access" notice when i try to connect to my network. My laptop on the other hand can connect to it easily. I've tried several solutions that I found online, but nothing has worked yet. When I run command prompt ipconfig I get

I now have a problem where after installing the card and Windows 7 Professional , I can see the list of available wireless networks including my own. But, I cannot connect to any of them even though my own network has full signal strength.
From one day to another my internet stopped working, instead of connecting automatically it shows limited access. I tried typing in cmd and IPCONFIG/ALL but that doesnt work either. using non-technical language, I am really bad with computers.

I have two other desktops hardwired and two laptops on the wireless that work fine. The two laptops are in the same room as the Clear 'modem/router', while the Win7 box is not, if that matters. The Win7 box worked in that location when I was on the cable and had a separate wireless router. The box that will not connect, does show that the wireless connection is availableand the adapter shows to be working properly in Device Manager.
