Aug 13, 2011

I'm having a real issue getting a network Brother MFC-J615W multifunction printer to forward through RDP (using net use) to a windows XP VM from a Vista desktop. So far, i've done all i know to do to get the printer forwarded:I've shared the original printer in vista as "brother1"created new printer in vista using LPT2, called it "remote" opened a cmd prompt, typed in "net use lpt2: \vistapcnamerother1 /persistent:yes" received a "successful" reply connected to the XP VM thru RDP and see all the other printers available on the Vista desktop.

Canon MF8300 Printer - Unable To Locate Printer On Network

Mar 21, 2011

I have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.

I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.

Access Internet Using Wireless Network And Printer Using Separate Wired Network At Time?

Apr 4, 2012

I have 4 computers (3 laptops, 1 desktop) in a shared office. We get internet access using their wireless network. All works fine. However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

Home Network :: Port Forwarding Not Working?

Feb 20, 2013

I want to setup port forwarding in my office router so that i can access my lan computer (192.168.0.122) from any where in the world through (remote desktop connection)I have (D-Link (DIR-615)) router. I went to virtual server option. then i select application name as Remote desktop then public port as (3389), protocol (both), Schedule (Always). My lan computer ip address (192.168.0.122), private port (same 3389), inbound filter (allow all). then i clicked save settings. Then the router took 20 seconds to save. then i close the browser. Then i asked my brother to connect through remote desktop connection who is on the skype and he is in different country and that time he is in office. So he put my router public ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3389) in this format but unable to connect.

Netgear WNDR3400 Ports Only Forwarding For Network?

May 16, 2011

Now my problem refers to the game Minecraft specifically, but I believe it has more to do with the router than the game, so that's why I am posting on here. To let people connect to your Minecraft server, you need to set a static IP and forward the port 25565. I have followed all of the tutorials for that on this site to the letter, and yet all I can do is make people in my network able to connect. Now before you say this has nothing to do with you guys, I also want to point out that the port checker tool says that port is closed, on both UDP and TCP. For some reason following these guides only opens my port to the network that connects through the router, either wirelessly or wired. So therefore any port checking tools or sites say that it is closed. I have checked my firewalls, turned them off, uninstalled them and that doesn't work. And no, people can't connect through the network unless I forward the ports, so I am actually doing something when I try to forward them. I am running Windows Vista x64-bit

Home Network :: Advanced Home Network Setup (3 Subnets) And Port Forwarding?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:

- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface

Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.

- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.

- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.

Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.

Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)

Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

Home Network :: Two Internet Connections And Port Forwarding

1. a LAN with about 10 pcs, a router and a shared internet connection which is connected to the router.

2. One of the PCs is a server, and is accessed from outside. the port 2230 is forwarded to it in the router.

Now the matter is, as the server uses a shared internet connection which is always very slow,I decided to have a dedicated internet connection in the server by adding an extra NIC.but what happens is when the outsiders try to connect to the dedicated internet connection IP address, the port 2230 is not forwared to the server pc.If I dissable LAN in this PC then the outsiders are able to connect.

Protocols / Routing :: Port-forwarding - Linking Back To Network URL?

Jun 30, 2012

I have set up port forwarding for my WD Network HDD, which runs a Media Server (Twonky). Now, I have tested the ports and accessed it through the internet and it works fine, until... I click a link to open a folder and suddenly I get a "No such page" error thing. I have however identified this problem, it seems that when I go off the main page it re-routes to the original network address, not my IP forward address. For Example if my IP was 82.9.12.456 and the port was 800 i would go to "82.9.12.456:800" and it would load but once I navigate i go to "192.168.0.*:800/*****" and does not load the page. If i then copy and past my IP into the URL it works, but this is annoying.

Connecting To Printer That Is On Another Network?

Jan 23, 2013

We have a Verizon T1 line providing internet for our backoffice network. On this network, we have 4 network printers that are shared between the facility. We recently opted to go with new web based software that neccesitates a high speed internet connection, and 12 wireless devices across the building. We signed a contract with Comcast Business Class internet, so that in the event of an external failure with one ISP, we would have the other offer redundancy with the new wireless router. It has now become clear that our nurses that are on the Comcast wireless network, now need to print from their wireless devices regularly. At the time this is obviously not possible, because the network printers are only on our backoffice network. Buying a wireless inkjet printer is out of the question. How can I make this happen? All of the printers have a local static IP on our backoffice network (Verizon). I have heard of software that will essentially send the print job to another computer, which would relay the print job to the designated printer.

Can't Connect Wireless Printer To Network

I had to replace my wireless router and when I try to reconnect my printer this is what I get: Your wireless router requires a WEP security key. The security key configured on your printer does not match exactly. Reconfigure your wireless network WEP security key for your printer. Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer is using IP address 169.254.xx.xxx which is not compatible with the IP address 192.16x.x.x of the pc.I had to changed the WEP security key I used on the old router as the orginal security key had been used by someone without permission. Before this I had no problems using the printer on my old routerI have tried turning everything off and unplugging it but that does not work, I tried resetting the wireless settings on the printer, yet that did not work. I am using Windows Vista service pack 2 on a Compaq Presario laptop, the wireless router is a Netgear N600, and the printer is an HP Photosmart C4740.

I went to each of their houses, downloaded and installed the latest printer software and they were printing again. After a short time, the same problem surfaces.
