Protocols / Routing :: Port-forwarding - Linking Back To Network URL?

Jun 30, 2012

I have set up port forwarding for my WD Network HDD, which runs a Media Server (Twonky). Now, I have tested the ports and accessed it through the internet and it works fine, until... I click a link to open a folder and suddenly I get a "No such page" error thing. I have however identified this problem, it seems that when I go off the main page it re-routes to the original network address, not my IP forward address. For Example if my IP was 82.9.12.456 and the port was 800 i would go to "82.9.12.456:800" and it would load but once I navigate i go to "192.168.0.*:800/*****" and does not load the page. If i then copy and past my IP into the URL it works, but this is annoying.

Protocols / Routing :: Port Forwarding Through 2 Routers?

Jun 16, 2012

I am trying to port forward for Vuze and I am having a problem understanding the concepts at [URL] for working within two routers. I have a Zoom 5241 cable modem connected through a Motorola VT2442-VD for Vonage VOIP, then connected through my Netgear RangeMax WPN824v3 wireless router, to my computer. I am also running AVG internet security. Here is a look at my ipconfig /all:

C:Users
ex>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : MarekFamily
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

[code]....

However, I do not understand where to setup the static ips and where to drop DHCP to be able to port forward successfully. I have tried in Vuze to set up acceptable ports 51600 for TCP and UDP, but they continue to get this error: "NAT Error - Connect attempt to 67.60.124.173:51600 (your computer) timed out after 20 seconds. This means your port is probably closed." I do know that the Ip present is from my Vonage with my external IP address. I even tried to establish rules for TCP and UDP within AVG Firewall settings for the Vuze program.

Protocols / Routing :: Port Forwarding On BTHome Hub

Apr 5, 2011

I've been having trouble signing into the PSN and Sony have given me some TCP and UDP ports to enter, I presume they're the ports for PSN.
TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223, and 10070 - 10080
UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070,
When you want to open new ports on the BT HomeHub you have to fill out this form, and I don't know whereabouts I enter these ports I've been given.

Protocols / Routing :: Port Forwarding 25565 Fails?

May 13, 2012

At first I tried to port forward 25565 on my D-Link Router account, but that didn't work for anyone trying to connect through the External IP.

People can connect locally over my network and I can connect to the game via localhost, but like I said, no friends from abroad.

I've checked my External IP and that doesn't work, I've tried resetting my router to factory default and then reinstalling the firmware for the model, that didn't work. I tried removing the firewall altogether, and also just allowing 25565, but that didn't work. I also got my friend to take their firewall off as well.

(Also, it should be known, when I'm port forwarding I'm allowing access, and have 25565 set in both TCP and UDP. I tested to see if the port was open on Open Port Check Tool, but it said it was closed (connection timed out) even though I had it forwarded)

Protocols / Routing :: Port Forwarding TP-Link TD-W8970?

Jan 19, 2013

Router Model: TP-Link TD-W8970 port forwarding my modem/router. I previously was able to successfully port forward a Valve Source Server and had other people join on the internet so...(It worked) I recently reformatted and since have had issues.

I'm currently setup with PPPOA and I've added various ports for different programs (a Teamspeak 3 Server[9987] and Minecraft[25565]) either dont work. I used a port checker program and they either say the port is closed or the connection is refused...I've tried using a static IP but I think i configured it wrong becuase i was barely able to get the internet while using it, either way..the ports didn't open.

DCHP is disabled (Tried enabling, didn't work) The above ports are enabled with Windows firewall (inbound+outbound) and Im not using any Anti-virus software to block the ports. Windows 7 64bit, fresh format and ports that wont go through.

Protocols / Routing :: Port Forwarding Ranges On Cisco Rv180w Router?

Aug 13, 2012

I'm just setting up a Cisco rv180w router to replace our aging Belkin. I need to allow a range of ports through the firewall to a particular PC on our internal network that runs our VOIP/SIP Trunk phone system.

The Cisco's Port Forwarding looks like it can only forward one port at a time, but for our phones I need to allow a full range of ports (in this case ports 49152-64512) to one machine at 192.168.x.xx.

On the Belkin I used something called 'Virtual Servers' which allows you to enter ranges of ports. Anybody know what the equivalent might be for the Cisco router?

Protocols / Routing :: External IP Forwarding Intermittent

Apr 4, 2011

I have a Belkin router (model to follow when back at work), which I've set up port forwarding, or virtual servers as it's called in the router admin. I also have a PPPoA login with static IP from BT which has been set up on the router.Essentially, if I was to visit the routers IP address in a browser, It should go via my router and through it's port 80 forwarding to the assigned IP which has a static IP rather than DHCP assigned IP within the network. The computer with this IP has a web server set up, and the holding page will be shown in the browser. This is how it should work.

Mine works exactly as it should as shown above... Some of the time. Generally though, connecting to the network externally doesn't work, and the port forwarding seems not to work. I've tried pinging the external IP and get connection time outs, which obviously is not ideal. When I reset the router it sometimes works as it should, but mainly doesn't. I have a few ports forwarded to a server computer, and when the web server cannot be contacted, neither can any of the other forwarded connections.

Protocols / Routing :: Hosted VPN / IP Forwarding / Routing And Bridging?

Apr 5, 2011

I have got a PC at work (Windows XP Pro SP3) that is on two networks with the IPs 10.20.30.167, subnet 255.255.255.0 (internet enabled) and 10.0.0.20, subnet 255.255.255.0 (no internet). On the 10.0.0.X network there is a gateway with the IP 10.0.0.200 allowing access to another network; 192.168.60.X, subnet 255.255.255.0 (no internet). I have added the route on my work PC to access the 192.168.60.X network via this gateway and I can access all PCs on all three networks from this PC.Now, I am using LogMeIn Hamachi so that I can access the networks at work from home. The PC at work is the 'gateway' PC on the Hamachi network. When installing Hamachi it created a new network connection and bridged this connection with my 10.20.30.167 network adapter to allow access to the 10.20.30.X network from an external PC when connected using the Hamachi VPN connection. I have manually configured my Hamachi connection on my PC at home to the IP 10.20.30.169, subnet 255.255.255.0, with the default gateway set to 10.20.30.167. I can ping all computers on the 10.20.30.X network from my PC at home.

I then added a route on my PC at home for 10.0.0.X to go via 10.20.30.167 (the 'gateway' on the Hamachi network). I also enabled IP forwarding on the 'gateway' PC (my PC at work). I can not ping any PC on the 10.0.0.X network from my PC at home apart from 10.0.0.20 (the other NIC in the Hamachi gateway PC) and 10.0.0.30 (another PC on the 10.20.30.X network that is also on the 10.0.0.X network). Now, with IP forwarding enabled on the Hamachi gateway PC I would assume after adding the route on my PC at home for 10.0.0.X traffic to go via 10.20.30.167 that I would be able to ping all PCs on the 10.0.0.X network...I also tried adding a route on my home PC to send all traffic for the 192.168.60.X network via 10.20.30.167 which has a route via 10.0.0.200 to the 192.168.60.X network, but this also did not work.I then tried adding the 10.0.0.20 network adapter into the network bridge that the Hamachi connection made, also keeping both IPs (10.20.30.167 and 10.0.0.20) on this network bridge by adding them into the 'IP Settings' in the 'Advanced TCI/IP Settings'. I also added the 10.0.0.200 gateway for good measure. I still cannot ping any PC on the 10.0.0.X or 192.168.60.X networks from my PC at home.

I have also added the route to the 10.20.30.X network on a PC on the 10.0.0.X network to go via 10.0.0.20 and tried pinging a PC on the 10.20.30.X network but this also has not worked. Also setting the default gateway on a PC on the 10.0.0.X network to 10.0.0.20 does not allow this...Surely bridging the networks 10.20.30.167 and 10.0.0.20 on my work PC would allow another PC on the 10.0.0.X network to access the 10.20.30.X network after adding the route or setting 10.0.0.20 as the default gateway?

Protocols / Routing :: Successful Login Redirects Back To Login Page After Satellite Upgrade?

Feb 10, 2012

I have a website account with fatcow. I created the website with Dreamweaver software and uploaded it to fatcow via port 21.My internet connection was via xplornet and I had no access problems. I upgraded to xplornet's new g4 system and now I can no longer access my account online or upload to my website. We have two computers. The first is a desktop system that has the dreamweaver software. The second is a laptop which connects wirelessly. We share the signal through a dlink router. The modem is a viasat Surfbeam 2 residential satellite modem.1. When I attempt to login to the fatcow control panel, the tab shows successfully authenticated and then re-directs me back to the login page. This happens on both the laptop and the desktop.

I have tried bypassing the router and the problem still exists.I took the laptop to the computer center and I can login to the account no problem.I used a free proxy server page on the internet and can login from my home system on my desktop no problem.I have completely turned off virus scan and firewalls. It doesn't work. I have tried IE7, Chrome, Firefox and they all have the same problem. The laptop runs IE8 and has the same problem.I can ping the page successfully. I can traceroute the page successfully. I can't nslooup any site at all. I get the domain not existant message. My ip and dns settings are the automatically find option.I have renewed ips and dumped the dns cache.Using alternate dns addresses doesn't rectify the problem. When I attempt to upload via dreamweaver, I connect but within seconds I get a Dreamweaver message that says "Connection to remote host has been lost. Click refresh to continue" and the log reads "FTP Error. Dreamweaver could not connect to server." I haven't taken my desktop anywhere to try to see if it works on a different network. I'm in a remote location (hence the satellite internet)and it is an hours drive to the nearest private internet connection and a 2 hour drive to the nearest public connection.

My question is, when I type in my IP address in the URL bar, does the web browser automatically just assume port 80? What happens if I want to have 2 different servers from the same local network and one is running through port 80 and the other is running through port 90? In this case, would I have to type ":90" to access the machine running on port 90?

Protocols / Routing :: SIP Trunk Port Range (VOIP)

Aug 14, 2012

I've recently set up a PC-based IP PBX in our small business which uses a SIP Trunk for up to 3 simultaneous voice calls. Ports needed to operate include 5060 (SIP-UDP) and then a huge range of high-number UDP ports which I believe is for the 'media' or audio. Let's call the range UDP 49,152 to 64,512. I only know a little about the SIP protocol but my understanding is that each call will randomly use a few ports from this range across which will pass audio, Is there a need to have such a wide range of ports open? If my SIP trunk is only capable of 3 simultaneous calls then it seems only 9 or so of those open ports could get used at once. Could I not just open, say a range of 100 ports and be fine, thereby reducing the security risk?
