Jan 24, 2012I went to Furrynutz link where I never found the direct download lilnk to the widget. I then chatted with a Microsoft representative at the widget page and he linked me to the same Furrynutz's link.
My DIR-825 has the latest firmware, 2.06xx and works flawlessly, even the shareport usb port works without a hitch with a Seagate Expansion 3TB drive connected into it. What I simply would like is the D-Link gadget.

I also have to reset the router daily - sometimes more often - due to problems when used wirelessly. (Fortunately I try to use wired as much as I can.)

Apr 7, 2013I'm wondering if there is an easy way to monitor how much bandwidth is being consumed at any given moment for a home network.specifically, for the incoming/outgoing internet connection.My network is as thus:
DSL Modem -> Wifi Router (Linksys E4200v1 - PPPoE enabled here) -> Gigabit switch -> 2nd Wifi router (D-Link DIR-815 - DHCP disabled, repeats same SSID and password)
Most devices are connected directly into the switch, with one computer hard-plugged into the DIR-815 (I will eventually change this, as the 815 only has 10/100 ports).Basically, I want to easily be able to check how much up/down data is being sent for my internet connection. This means that I cannot use a program on a computer (I've used DL Meter before. Works great, but limited to a single computer).
The Linksys E4200v1 is using standard firmware, but I'm not opposed to loading DD-WRT onto it (was the original plan anyway, just never got around to it), if DD-WRT has this capability.Nice to have feature: Ability to see which devices are consuming what part of the bandwidth. Not necessary, but would be a cool feature.Alternatively, if there is a cheap (like $100 or less deal) box that can interface, say, between the E4200 and the switch, that can do this, that would work as well.

Is it possible that if i enable Port SPAN in any of the switchport and send a copy of traffic to any of the windows 2008 server, will i be able to monitor the bandwidth of the servers (Here I am only looking for traffic going from servers to PIX and then to internet, also vice versa).
Also will wireshark be able to differentiate specify the bandwidth of each servers seperately ?

- 1 Master router with no PC's connected (only the slave routers will connect to it)
- 2 Slave routers each connected to master router Each slave router will have multiple PC's connected via ethernet and/or wireless
I have been able to set this up with all PC's having an internet connection. BUT I need all the PC's to see each other on a single network. I can see all the PC's on a single slave router but I can't see the PC's on slave 1 from slave 2 or vice versa. I have been using the WAN inputs on both slave routers. All 3 routers are Netgear WRN3500L.

Multiple Vlan / Subnet Network
Apr 4, 2011I am designing a network right now that is going to have 356 devices. I need to use vlan separation with subnetting for a number of reasons. The first (and most obvious) is that there are 356 devices that will require an IP. Too many for one subnet. The second is that a good portion of the devices that I am using are a litlle to chatty with the broadcast traffic for my comfort. I have two subnets that are going to be specifically alocated to these chatty devices. Our switches are being provided for us by the client for unknown reasons. They are providing us with HP ProCurve E2810 switches which are layer2 switches.

Same security, SSIDs, etc. I have one broadcasting on channel 1, and the other on channel 11.What I wanted to ask is this: in the future, I'd like to add two wireless access to a different network that exists in the same building. So I'd have two more WAPs, broadcasting a different network with a different SSID. I can assign one to channel 6, but the last WAP will not have a non-overlapping channel to use. Is that going to cause interference issues?

Its connected to a dlink DI-524 wireless router (also in the office), which is connected to a dlink DIR-601 in the opposite end of the house, both are connected using LAN ports, not WAN. All 3 of these devices are capable of wireless, and all have the same SSID and wep encryption key (they use different channels, 1, 6, 11). As of right now, i have the DI-524's wireless disabled, and the wireless is still on for the DIR-601 and the HomePortal, but only the HomePortal has DHCP turned on. The problem I'm having is that i can connect and get assigned an ip address when I'm in the office, but if i initially connect to the network near the DIR-601, i get limited connectivity and a self-assigned IP-address.
