WDS allows you to capture and deploy images on a network to client pcs. I Was wondering how many images wds allows you to capture and deploy and if there were any work a-rounds that would allow you to deploy more.
View 1 Repliesi'm using some catalysts 3560 with 10 VLANs and inter vlan routing. we use a windows deployment services server to install our workstations. the pxe boot works fine. the image is loading, and when the windows 7 PE is booting, the dhcp request failes. when i use a small not manageable switch between the computers and the catalysts, it works fine.all other things work fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have recently implemented Windows Deployment Services on our local network, but everytime we do a multicast image deployment the network get flooded to point of total saturation.
We have Netgear switches and a Cisco 2800 series router. IGMP Snooping has been enabled on all Switches, however, we are unsure on how to implement multicasting on the router.
The whole network is flat - no VLANs over than the default VLAN1. We only want multicasting to work within our local network and does not need to go out the other side of the router as that is the connection to the internet.
How to get the Cisco router configured properly to enable multicasting to not flood the network. It seems that even if we were to image 4 PCs using multicast this is enough to completely get the network flooded.
Also, am I right in thinking that IGMP needs to be enabled on all of the Switches?
Ths only hapeens at one location. All the other locations are working the difference is this location goes through the firewall. If I bypass the firewall at this location it works.
View 1 Replies View Relateda workstation on our domain running windows 7 64 bit downloaded updates from microsoft. There was about a hundred of them. Since they installed the machine won't connect to the network shares. It can access the internet easily enough. The Workstation Service won't start. It comes up with an error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start. I used System restore to go back before the updates and everything worked again. Installed the updates and the problem re-appears. I have 2 wireless network adaptors so I disabled one.

The organization that I worked for purchased large number of Cisco Secure Services Client Licenses for Windows XP. Now they have plans to move to Windows 7. Reading different discussions, I know that SSC ver 5.1 does not work with Windows 7. My questions are:
1) Will there be a new SSC for Windows 7? Will we be able to configure the pre-package for installation with the new SSC?
2) Can we use the existing SSC ver 5 licenses with the new SSC for Win 7?
I need to access a shared folder over a VPN connection. Very simple host network: no Microsoft server, no AD. Just a WRVS4400N router and a peer-to-peer network.
Purchased a second WRVS4400N router to create VPN from SOHO and configured via VPN Setup Wizard.
When at the office, I can map a drive letter to a share on the other computer, as follows
net use f: \192.168.1.111MyShare /User:MYSELF mypass
However, when try same command over VPN, I receive the response:
System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found.
I also cannot net view the other computer -- same error. However, I can successfully ping 192.168.1.111.

Routers have latest firmware.
Over VPN I cannot browse network via Windows Explorer (Win7 Network Neighborhood shows only my own PC. In the office I can see the other computer and the NAS appliance "NAS01").
I also cannot connect by entering \192.168.1.111MyShare into Windows Explorer's address bar (although I can do that successfully when at the office), or by choosing Map Network Drive from "Computer".
However, over VPN, I can get into NAS administration via https://192.168.1.3 and I can print to the office TCPIP printer (192.168.1.222)
If I am not able to start remote desktop services on windows 7 machine, will machine can be accessible by RDP?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new laptop with Windows 7 running 64bit OS. Setup the laptop with no firewall and no Antivirus programs. After installing the Any connect 2.5 VPN application I was able to successful connect to our ASA. I noticed if my laptop went into standby mode or if I rebooted the laptop the "Cisco Anyconnect Agent" is not running under service even though it is set to Automatic.
I have uninstalled and reinstall with no success and have even tried the new version 3.x with the same result. If I go into services and start the anyconnect agent I can launch the application and connect to my company with no problems. I was able to replicate this issue on a co-workers new laptop running Win7 64 that has no applications on it.

I can open IE, but it just says "This page cannot be displayed" and on and on.Since I re-installed it I believe their are not many drivers on it, I don't really know, and I think that might be it but I am not sure. And I am not sure which drivers I need if it is missing drivers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm off to university on Monday but I couldn't afford a laptop (I have a huge Dell gaming desktop!) so my awesome parents gave me their little Acer Aspire One D260-A netbook; Intel Atom Processor N450 (1.66GHz, 512K), 1GB, 160GB HDD. It's a couple of years old, was running XP and literally everything was broken - no sound, no backlight, faulty touchpad etc. - so first port of call was a clean install of Windows 7 and updating every driver (and BIOS) off the Acer website from a USB.Problem is, everything is running like a dream... except for the wireless. When I tried to install the latest Atheros drivers (doing all of this from a USB due to lack of connectivity) I received a Code 10: driver cannot start error, so after some troubleshooting I was pointed towards different drivers, only for Windows to inform me that it can't find the hardware.
Looking in devices, I'm seeing an Atheros Ethernet connection device but the wireless card seems to have taken a walk. Xirrus isn't seeing anything either. My current internet is between Virgin and BT (mine and my partner's house) but we move in together on Monday and we'll be setting up Sky, so I can't give you much information on internet. I do have an ethernet cable I can plug into our Virgin wifi home router (D-Link DSL-2640R Broadband Wireless G ADSL2+) if need be. One of my main problems seems to be finding the correct drivers as due to the wireless card disappearing, I'm not sure how to tell what the wireless hardware actually is.

I Installed windows XP on my Alive 6100 computer, and now it wont detect my ethernet cable. I tried updating the drivers off the ECS website but nothing works. I cant go through ethernet or wireless, probably dont even have the drivers (I Installed the ones listed on the site).
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor about two months now I have been experiencing a problem with my Internet connection. It started when I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 530s from 64 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. After a day, I started getting the "Local Area Connection: A network cable is unplugged or broken internet connection." However, the cable is not unplugged. My other PC and laptop (which is wireless) can connect to the Internet, so I know it's not my ISP or my router. It only happens about every other day. It would work perfectly on day and other day I would go to my internet and I would have no connection. The weird thing is that when I restart my computer, it connects right away. My other two computers that was upgraded also does not have this problem.
First, I thought it may be the cable, so I replaced it with another cable I had. No luck.Then I thought it may be the port on the router, so I plugged it into one of the other ports (including the port that the working PC was plugged into). Next, I checked Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) 8256v-2 10/100 Connection. There is no exclamation point next to it. Plus, under Properties, it indicates that this device is working properly.I shut down all my computers, and unplugged the dsl modem and router. I waited a few minutes and then plugged in the modem, followed by the router. Once both of those were fully booted, I turned my computers back on. Still after a few hours, I lost connection.Following this, I went to Run, typed "cmd" and then "ipconfig." Under Windows IP Configuration, it reads:"Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State.........: Media Disconnected."
I just reinstalled windows 7 on my Intel i3 M380 laptop, and now I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly and I can't connect with a ethernet cable. In device manager, it says those devices aren't installed. I can't install them because the laptop has no internet. I can't seem to find the drivers for them either on intel. Seems like the reinstallation deleted my network adapter.. I can't find the correct link on intel.. I've tried like 3-4 on my laptop and none of them seem to work..

Now Win 7 64 Device Manager is empty- no network adapter found - I get the notice that "there are no properly installed network adapters". I use the on-board network adapter on the mobo, no plug in network card, hard wired to DSL -- like I said, it worked fine for a few days now it's GONE after reformat.

I have to disable the adapter then enable it to reconnect to the internet. Are there other compatibility problems with this setup that I need to address?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNew Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine.Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed.No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install.On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.

Upon upgrading my router to the D-Link DIR-655, this ability stopped. I also tried HTTP transfer, and this too is now unsuccessful.I can access these cameras from the internet, so the router is properly opening the ports. In my testing, I was able to FTP directly to the site via browse (ftp://) with no issues at all. The port/userid/password was accepted. On the cameras, I've played with login timing and data transfer method (active/passive), to no avail. The cameras report: Could not connect to FTP server. (panasonic error code: 133 80005008H) and FTP error 426: Connection closed, transfer aborted.On the DIR-655, firmware Version :1.35NA.

The videos will be playing and then suddenly will start "tiling" and glitching around wile images will either not show up, show only half of the image, show up half "normal" and half pixelated, or be completely pixelated and blocky. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I load a gallery of images or even when I open up a couple of websites, sometimes the image/website won't load and is perpetually loading, only to time out minutes later.I've tried out different browsers (Chrome, Firefox) on my wired desktop and tried this on my Laptop through WiFi with the same two browsers. The result was the same each time. So it's not about faulty computer hardware, software or malware on the machines. [code] When I ran a Speedtest.net test, this weird issue happened on the end-result screen. Normally when you do a test there, you can share/compare etc. But for me, that content did not appear.On Reddit I browsed a couple of ragecomics for my leisure and then some of the img.ur hosted images won't load. I know this issue still exists, because I use Randomly ordered wallpapers / Wallbase.cc to test out the case. By using this link, you're presented with a bunch of random thumbnails. So I scroll down and keep loading thumbnails as fast the website and I can endure. But at one point, it will stop at a random thumbnail, load the first 20% of the image and freeze. Or it will load 20%, freeze, and continue loading the rest. I also tried this out by opening wallpapers, closing them with CTRL+W, repeating this process until one of them refused to load, but when I refreshed the browser it would magically load the image.
I have reset my modem and my router, the router has been restored to factory defaults. So I'm clueless on what could be the cause of this weird issue. Nothing in the LAN has changed, this started about a week ago. I've narrowed it down to the router, but there's nothing in the settings that would cause this behaviour.
